Had a really good pulled chicken sandwich , it wasn't super overwhelming and not too little either . The food is cooked in the kitchen and it takes a minute but it hit the spot . The bone was left inside the sandwich actually made me light up for some reason . The authenticity of it all made me want to dance in the street LOL . I heard rumors that this place was like the quality of the original Paseo but that is sadly not true. First of all, this place is more expensive, smaller portions and lower quality. Need I go on? Caribbean roast at Paseo is $9.75 vs $11.50 here. Un Bien does a very poor job of caramelizing their onions. These onions were still half raw and crunchy. These are nowhere near carmelized to perfection. The meat was tender but not that flavorful or juicy. It was a huge disappointment compared to the real Paseo. read more

Disclaimer: the food was delicious, even the vegetarian options. However.... I have lived across the street from this place for 18 months, and this was my first time trying it. I wish I hadn't. I called in my order. They said, 10-15 minutes. So, I walked over at 15 minutes. There was a line of 5-6 singles and pairs (about 9-10 people). So, I waited until everyone had ordered to go up and check on my food. He said, "The order just went in." To which I responded, "I phoned in my order 20-25 minutes ago. I talked to YOU, and you said it would be done about 10 minutes ago." He shrugged. So, I got back to waiting... The couple of customers who had ordered before I got there (but AFTER I called in my order) got their food. Then, ONE AT A TIME, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the people who ordered while I was standing there received their food. It had now been 35 total minutes (20 of which had been spent standing on the sidewalk waiting). So, I go to the window to check again. The cashier (remember: the same guy who took my order) said that mine was just coming. I pointed out that EVERY SINGLE PERSON that ordered while I was standing there had already received their food. He mumbled something about the length of the braising process (as if a shack sitting on the side of the road handing out To Go orders was braising pork to order). Five minutes later, he called my name, as if he had never even seen my order (impersonally, disinterested). And that was it. No apology. No offer of one of the sandwiches being comped. Nothing. I heard about un bien from a lot of people and decided to taste it myself! I would have given this place 5 stars, but I felt like some of the meat I got in the roast was drier than what I would have liked. Anyways, this place is super easy to dine. One orders at the front and grabs a number. They have a small seating area outdoors that is covered, but most people get their sandwiches to go. They provide free water and cups in the outdoor seating area. The sandwiches get pretty messy to eat so be prepared! They load their sandwiches with onions and all types of goodness. It's definitely worth a try if you are in Seattle! Note that there is only street parking, but one can always park in the residential streets off of 15th Ave and walk over. read more

Stunningly good. I didn't realize it was a food truck for Matt until we rolled up. The menu is simple and understated yet surprisingly complex in its options. I went with the number 21 and was delighted when both the portions and especially the quality. The pork was amazing. but for me the black beans or what stole the show. Un Bien is doing everything right! Came here with family for a pre woodland park zoo lunch and we loved absolutely everything. Also you really can't beat the prices. We ordered the press, the fish of the day sandwich and the scallops entree. The fish of the day sandwich was exceptional although I couldn't tell you what kind of fish was on it ( I guess it changes daily?) Obviously the pork is out of this world good, slightly sweet but not too sweet and just SO tender. Scallops were small but coupled with the level 3 spicy sauce ( which was plenty spicy) and the rice and beans and salad I was very full. Also don't forget a mango soda! Summary: It ain't Paseo, nuff said. The bread ain't as good, and the cuts of meat are not as generous. Side note, why are the only two locations of Un Bien located way out in the boonies, a mere 2 miles from each other? Could we get some east side or south side love here? The concept is similar to Paseo, a no frills experience that is supposed to be centered around a blissful explosion of meat, carbs, and love in your mouth. But quite simply, it did not come close the awe-inspiring original staple. I ordered: Caribbean Roast (3/5 Stars) $11.50: The flavor was similar to Paseo, but there was so much more bread than actual meat and filling. While it tasted relatively good, it felt like I had to start rationing the meat as soon as I saw the sandwich. It was also significantly more oily/buttery than Paseo. Seared Scallops (3/5 Stars) $13: I meant to order this over rice, but didn't realize I had to specify, so that was my b. Essentially this was the same sandwich as the roast, but just with scallops. The scallops were juicy and tender, but there just weren't very many of them as again, the bread to filling ratio was like the number of rainy days to sunny days (i'm told) there are in Seattle in a typical winter month. Overall, I wasn't mad that I came, even if it was a 40min drive, but I will be returning to Paseo to get my fix of mouthwatering Caribbean. read more

I don't understand the hype/appeal of Un Bien. It's a rather average, everyday sandwich: not something I'd return for or crave. In fact, I'd prefer an Ike's sandwich (Idk if there are any locations in Washington, but it's a pretty big chain in California). I got the #1 (Caribbean Roast) ($11.50): A pork roast sandwich on a baguette with caramelized onions, aioli, cilantro, lettuce, and jalapenos. I found the pork to be a little tough/hard to chew since it formed globs in my mouth. It had the illusion of being tender from all the juices and sauciness (the sandwich was a bit soggy), but the meat itself wasn't very tender. Do you have something that is so good that you are willing to travel miles and miles just to get it? For me, Un Bien is one of the foods fits this definition. Having just flew in from the East Coast, I have had this place bookmarked for so long and decided to give this place a try. Having been mentioned that this place is reminiscent of Paseo, I had some expectation on it. I am glad I went in and tried it. I had the carribean roast and chcken carne & rice to do with extra side of caramelized onions to go. (I know I know..my heart and appetite enslaved my brain and wallet) Their carribean roast generously filled with pork morsel that has been simmered/marinated for hours - presumably - that ended in glorious bite each time. It was overly greasy but greatly satisfying (screw diet) ! The chicken and rice is also flavorful and addictive - generous portion and could be a meal on itself. As for the onions, they are tasty yet I kind of wished they were more thinly sliced. But overall, my to go order was a satisfying one. Now, I do wish that they: a. Do delivery - comes in handy in a rainy day/ or any lazy day b. Open late (perfect drunk food ..anyone??) Imagine having a late night hang out and washing out those intoxicating alcohol with something substantial.
