The only item I would personally skip next time is anything topped with the tempura sauce, as I found it didn't complement the rolls very well. Beyond that, the sushi quality was excellent. One important tip: avoid arriving on concert or event nights unless you're prepared to wait. During busy events at Casino del Sol, wait times can stretch to two hours or more. We had a fantastic dinner at Ume inside Casino Del Sol on a Friday night! Just a heads up -- it was about an hour wait, so make sure to check in early. The good news is they text you when your table is ready, which makes it super convenient. We had a party of 3 and the process was smooth. Pro tip: Don't forget to scan your Casino Players Card at the machine before heading in! I had a buy 1 get 1 free dinner coupon for Ume, which made the meal even better. As for the food -- everything was delicious. My mom ordered the sweet and sour chicken and absolutely loved it. We also shared the House Singapore noodles, which tasted so fresh and flavorful. I ordered both the orange chicken and the kung pao chicken (thanks to my coupon!), and both dishes were amazing -- perfectly cooked with great flavor and just the right amount of sauce. Aside from the quality of food being surprisingly good, I give this place 2 stars because it needs training in customer service and staff team work. The hostess had us wait 15 minutes for a table (and probably server availability too), but then sat us at a table that wasn't even set with silverware nor being manned. Meanwhile, another group was immediately sat at the table next to us and a server comes over and proceeds to take their drink order. No server came to our table nor greeted us and said "I'll be right with you"-- just straight ignored us. I finally flagged down another server and asked if someone could come over and take our order, so he sends the hostess--the same person who made us wait 15 mins for a table with no silverware and in a section that wasn't even being served--to come take our order. The hostess gave off an air that we were inconveniencing her by having to take our order. No sense of warmth or positivity or friendliness. So Beatrice came over and stepped in to take care of us, and thank God she did. She seemed to be the only server on the floor that had the right energy. Last, another young lady brought out my food and instead of sitting the plate in front of me, she sets it at the opposite end of the tables that we were sitting at. Again, no sense of hospitality and customer service. On side note, the ambience in this place is that of a cafeteria. The music and noise from the casino creates a cacophony that doesn't fit with the mood, tone, or relaxation of an Asian themed restaurant. Plus, some of the clientele dining there are loud and obnoxious and oblivious to how their behavior is affecting the people around them. Very poor. We haven't been to this restaurant in years, in fact Mr An owned it back then and we had the best Peking Duck there. Not this time. I did have quite a nice Wonton soup appetizer, but my Wife's sweet and sour soup was nothing but broth. No tofu, onion or sprouts. Just liquid. We had their shrimp and vegetable tempura. The batter was like cake, we ate the shrimp and each had one vegetable piece before giving up. But their Peking Duck was an absolute disaster. They clearly have no idea what Peking Duck is. It came as two pieces of duck covered in gravy and an assortment of raw vegetables. The duck was soggy. So we dropped off our daughter at a friend's house and came here to watch the game and have dinner. There was about a 45 minute wait in the dining room so we decided to sit at the bar with a TV was at. My wife and I both ordered iced tea. My wife got the teriyaki chicken and I got the Mongolian beef.. said to say we were very disappointed in the food. We both tried each other's dishes. We both agreed that my wife's teriyaki chicken had very little teriyaki flavor to it. The beef and the Mongolian beef in the be a very low quality meat was not very much flavor to it besides a little kick of spice here and there. The first time we had horrible service and sub par quality food. This second time the service was much better but the food was to be expected based on my first experience. Our rice was dry and I found plastic in my chirashi rice (photo attached) The ramen my boyfriend ordered was not a tonkotsu ramen. It was a war wonton soup with noodles, with a whole hard boiled egg. My chirashi was just ok but for the price, there are other places in town worth that amount. My in laws love their Mongolian beef and that's why we keep coming back. Went here for my brother's birthday this past week. It was a Wednesday evening and it was pretty slow. Our server was pretty meek, and unable to answer questions about the menu. She was nice though. We ordered a couple of drinks (both strong) the tokontsu soup, beef lo mein, a dragon roll, miso soup, anime fries, and wings. When it came to the wings, we asked if we could do half-and-half for the flavors and were told no. The server then said she could bring the sauce on the side so we went with that option. She only brought one of the sauces, which defeated the purpose of getting the sauce on the side , but it's whatever. The anime fries had good flavor however I felt like they were lacking of all the ingredients that were stated on the menu. For instance, the menu said it had cilantro, which I love, but it was more like a garnish than within the meal. They also very much so skimped on the meat that was supposed to be in the fries. I didn't try the Dragon roll, but was told it was pretty soft, in a bad way. They did however, bring out a birthday dessert, which was kind and appreciated. The menu items here are kind of pricey with many of the appetizer options costing as much as entrée options and the food I'd say is okay. If I ate again at the casino, this restaurant would not be my first choice, but probably not the worst choice either. read more

To anyone, probably. I was excited to hear that they have AYCE sushi ($28/per person), and honestly I wasn't expecting it to be necessarily *good* sushi. I went in expecting to be at least a little surprised that the food was better than I was anticipating, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Honestly, it was probably the worst sushi I've ever had. I would rather eat at Sushi Garden than have Casino del Sol sushi again. Honestly, grocery store sushi would be better than Casino del Sol sushi. And way cheaper. Let me get in-depth for those who are interested: from the AYCE menu, I ordered the Vegas, playboy, spicy tuna, and spicy yellowtail rolls. Vegas and playboy came first and I was neither surprised nor disappointed about them. They were middle-of-the road sushi rolls. At least the first couple of bites were. After a couple of chews, I noticed that there was way too much rice, making it a hassle to chew. And because it was 90% rice, that's pretty much all I could taste (other than the EXCESSIVE amount of unagi sauce). The Vegas roll tempura fry made the roll feel even more dense with the absurd amount of rice, so it felt gross to eat. The playboy roll used obviously frozen, store-bought tempura, which I wouldn't complain about that if they weren't selling the roll for $15. So, even though I already ate the cost of AYCE with those two very mediocre rolls, I thought I may as well try the other ones since maybe the more simple rolls who taste better. Boy, was I wrong. I ordered spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail--two rolls that I like and figured could not possibly be worse than the other two. But alas; I don't know exactly what they mix with their fish to make the "spicy" flavor, but it definitely wasn't restaurant quality or standard practice. I'm pretty sure spicy tuna (or spicy yellowtail) is made using sriracha and Japanese mayo, but the spicy rolls at Ume seemed to be made from something weirdly sour, but familiar. It kind of reminded me of Tajin? Either way, Tajin-flavored tuna with a thick, THICK skin of rice was just making me sick to eat. I could not finish it, try as I might. I like mediocre sushi sometimes, but this was below mediocre. I honestly feel bad for the fish that was made to make these rolls, which sounds harsh, but I genuinely don't think I could eat here again. Maybe I'll like the Chinese food though (lol). read more

I went during happy hour and for the crab ragoons($5), a shrimp roll($8) and a well vodka and cranberry ($5). The drink was good, the ragoons could've had a sauce on them but instead a dipping sauce came on the side , it was a bit sweet. The ragoons were also a bit too crispy so I had to watch my mouth. We ordered the chicken lo mein, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, fried rice, & teriyaki chicken. Service was pleasant and quick. The soups came out within minutes of ordering along with won ton strips. The soups were good especially with the won ton strips. Watch out for the hot & sour soup. The heat will sneak up you. My friend was blowing her nose at the end. The entrees came out. My friend's meal was lukewarm at best. She sent it back. The lo mein was meh at best. The chicken was blah as were the noodles. Even with soy sauce, the meal was still average. The teriyaki dish was returned and now hot. It was better but she said the dish lacked taste. Too bad cuz it looked good. Located inside the casino! They take reservations in advance. What I always appreciated when I did work at Del Sol is the happy hour and lunch specials. I did notice a few things were taken off the menu. Service took a while for a weekday when I visited last week. By the time our alcoholic drinks arrived to the table, we had forgotten we ordered them. Also I had to wait then ask again for my sauces.. the employees were nice. But seemed behind and quite hectic. Could've been because the conference that was there they had a rush. But still. Food quality is good and things can be made to order. I do think the portion sizes of the House fried rice and house lo mein have gotten a lot smaller over the years. I would still go again. I've even celebrated a birthday here one year with 10 friends. While staying at Casino del Sol for three nights, I ate here twice. The first time, I had the moo shu duck. It was a generous portion of moo shu with lots of everything including wood ear mushroom. However, the pancakes were a bit off. They're supposed to be paper thin and a little translucent and chewy but these were more like tortillas. Ok, maybe it was a fluke and I ordered the wrong thing. Maybe I should try their sushi I thought. So another time, I give them another chance and order the del sol roll, which they set on fire at your table. How cool is that?!? Loved the presentation... Didn't love the taste. The sushi rice wasn't sticky at all. When I finished the roll, I had a bunch of rice that had just fallen off like leftover fried rice on the foil. Food is ok, the sauce is over salted. Last night, a Sunday, we were told there was a 25 minute wait with only four tables seated! Hostess said not enough servers even though we counted at least six people working the floor. We sat at the bar and once again service was extremely slow. Offering a Vastray of different sushi fried rice and traditional Chinese dishes with the full service bar with some signature cocktails that all will enjoy. We opted for the Ume sampler platter that included crab or goons potstickers pork Eggrolls and even some Chinese fried wings which are excellent. Our main order included House fried rice which included chicken shrimp and steak it came out piping hot and extra fresh with plenty of egf & Tonkotsu ramen both Were delicious, as far as the alcohol we opted for the pineapple Paradise and an old fashioned. Keep in mind this review is for one visit during a weekend trip to Tucson. We were seated right away and greeted pleasantly. The waiter suggested items that actually were good choices. The wait and the service were the reasons that I knocked this review down to 3 stars. We also would have liked to have had a few more drinks, but those too were very slow at coming out... hard to find our server too. The food though, it was wonderful! We tried many rolls and other items, sharing them all. Everything was really delicious. I'm not even sure what it was called but we ordered "something" that was a bunch of crab and rice topped with eel sauce, I think it was some sort of roll but it didn't look like a roll. This thing was AMAZING and so tasty!! I tried looking online to find what it was called, but no luck. Guess that's not too helpful, is it? As we were about to leave, the table next to us received this plate on fire! We couldn't help but stare and take a picture, so fun, so festive, so interesting! It was terrible quality food then and the server was definitely on drugs and stated she needed to go back and smoke crack in the back. We didn't see this serve there last night and decided we would give this place another shot since it had been awhile. This place is awful. This is 100% not Japanese food. I ordered the most basic thing on the menu, beef fried rice. It was covered in oil, very bland and very suspiciously grey unflavored beef pieces. My wife ordered some Ume chicken lettuce wraps, they tasted like vinegar and nothing else. The masago rolls were a mess. I actually feel sick today from eating there late last night. She got our drinks and our appetizer which was the Del Sol sushi roll. Our appetizer and drinks were received in a timely manner. I just can't remember the name of our server. We received our entrées just minutes after we had our appetizer. One of my family members ordered the Mongolian beef, which tasted good. I ordered the shrimp lo mein noodles and it was okay. The best part of the meal was the appetizer. when we asked for ginger and wasabi, they gave us very little for four people. I would say the restaurant appeared clean and the restrooms. My wife and I ate here yesterday and had the Ume Sampler Platter. It has four pork eggrolls, four chicken wings, for crab Ragoons and four potstickers. It was pretty tasty, however I thought the pot stickers were not the best. The Service was a little slow as well. Overall, not bad. We will go back. Update down to a 2 star from 3. We ordered the sampler and it came out mostly cold. It's not a lot of food and shouldn't take 20 minutes to get it out. I think it died in the window.
