The first time I went to a Ume at a different location, I got the boba milk tea and it wasn't very good. What made me come back was their snacks. I wanted to try the fried octopus since the fried chicken was delicious and perfectly fried last time. And for drinks, I wanted to try what they seem to be known for - their yogurt drinks. I got the oat burst sticky rice, and the first sip had me kind of confused because the yogurt was quite potent. I mixed it up and got some of the purple rice and popping oat pieces, and after that sip, I could not put it down!! It was so yummy; it had the perfect amount of sweetness from the purple rice and tartness from the yogurt. In addition to the great flavor combination, you get fun textures from the popping out pieces and the purple rice! I would definitely recommend this drink/dessert and would love to try another flavor next time. The fried octopus was crispy, almost like a chip, but still had a great chewy to it, and the dry rub seasoning was salty, slightly spicy and peppery, in the best way possible. Portion is very generous as well! 2 out of the 2 snacks I've tried so far were amazing and I would definitely recommend. The wait time at this location was quite long though, we ordered at 9:26pm and received the drink at 9:50pm... don't know if I would sit and wait for 25min again so check for a better time to go if you don't want to wait long. read more

This is the best UME location in south bay because they have items on the menu they don't have at other locations like the bento boxes! Specifically I get the braised beef and mushroom bento box which is super good and you can't get at other locations. The kimchi, fish balls and sides it comes with are good too. It's in a plaza with a lot of good chinese food and ranch 99 so you can look around while waiting. All time favorite: black tea with taro and mochi. It's perfect with 0% sweetness became the taro is what makes it sweet, BUT if you have to, 30% is good. We always order it online since it helps with cutting down the wait time in person. Staff can be a hit or miss. Sometimes, they're just standing there on their phones and sometimes, really efficient. I have been going to Ume Tea for 7 years now, maybe longer. This is the 1st and original location. The interior use to be very cute with photo ops and very pink inside. Now, fast forward 7 years later, the interior is a big mess with bags and boxes everywhere, no more photo ops and doesn't give me the Ume Tea vibe like the other new locations. I ordered 2 mango coconut blue drinks yesterday and there was really no one there in the afternoon. The drinks took about 20 minutes which was very very long compared to the other busier locations. After several sips, it didn't have the coconut flavor and tasted like milk instead. Also, I noticed that customers kept on coming up to the staff wondering about their drinks and other questions but the staff seemed confused and didn't know. I don't know how the original location went downhill like this. This location seems neglected in terms of vibe, service and quality. We were craving boba tea and decided to stop by this place because the shop has such a cute, kawaii decor. Mini me ordered the brown sugar boba and the mochi black milk tea with 15% sweetness and less ice, and it was the perfect level of sweetness. I ordered the coco mango jasmine bloom slushie with 50% sweetness. Both drinks were delicious and super refreshing. We even got a free cute bag since we ordered our drinks to go, which was a nice surprise. We will definitely be back. Next time I want to try the tanghulu yogurt drink or the sticky rice drink that comes in the adorable rectangle cup. I've only really ordered to go here (they don't really have indoor seating anyways), but I have really enjoyed trying their stuff ! They have good snacks and my family used to order their bentos. I appreciate this place because they have non-caffeinated, non-dairy cold drinks that are super delicious, like some of their coconut drinks. In the actual store itself, it looks like it's mainly ordering by kiosk and the servers are really there just to make the food and drinks (which is enough for me, to be honest). This location is the one I mostly visit - mainly because it's close to a bunch of restaurants and 99 Ranch, so I can walk over and grab a drink after grocery shopping or having a meal. I enjoy their bento boxes - I've tried a variety of them on those days where I don't want to cook, fast food just doesn't sound appetizing and I don't want to go to a sit down restaurant. My favorite is the braised pork belly, but it seems like they don't have that anymore. Food is always consistent - I actually enjoy the sides/veggies a lot more than I should! Service is always consistent as well - I've ordered through the app (very convenient), on the kiosk inside the store (easy, simple) and with a worker as well (in order to redeem rewards points or if the kiosk is having issues). They are always nice and friendly, although communication may be difficult at times. I enjoy getting their surprise bunny cups, but it does get expensive for what you end up getting. I mainly enjoy the anticipation of what I'll get and I've been lucky to (mostly) get cute plushies while my friend hasn't been as lucky. I've tried a bunch of their drinks - overall good, but not my 1st choice for milk tea. The variety of drinks and "extras" make it fun, but flavor/quality wise - there are other places to get better drinks. Love the new Blossom Latte! They have it on promo for $3.99 right now which is such a steal considering so many other places are charging double for lesser drinks. While in the past I never considered Ume Tea as a favorite, the blossom latte changes everything and I now consider UT on par with Chagee, my favorite tea place overseas! Love that UT gave out free sample to try the Blossom Latte before buying! They now have the ultra thin straws that somehow make the tea taste 10x better. I looooooooooooooooove Ume Tea merch like the little plushies and the soft mini tote bags. Truly a pink paradise :) Oh! And the popcorn chicken is amazing.
