I've been wanting to come here for their surprise plushy cup because I'm a sucker for those. I love the inside - it's decorated so beautifully. The drinks are okay but a bit pricey for quality. Nonetheless it was a fun way to get a surprise blind cup and a drink all in one. The cashier gave us good coupons for our next visit which is always appreciated.
The most perfect, tasty strawberry matcha! Half the sweetness! Great drinks! Very cute decor; lots of instagramable opportunities. The mini bean is so cute.
Came here on Chinese new year which was on a Tuesday. Showed up right after an early lunch right around noon. We were lucky that this was located in that Chinatown mall because we got parking and we're able to walk directly up here. When I got here, there was no line there was one other patron waiting for her order. There are a couple screens where you put your order in and then they text you because they ask you for your phone number once your order is ready then you pick it up right on the left-hand side of where they're actually is a register. The one girl who was working here that day was very nice and friendly, but I don't think she totally understood me as I was trying to explain the benefits of leaving tip in cash versus tip on the card at the kiosk where you put your order in. We did order two drinks and both drinks are absolutely delicious. However the Taro milk Boba tea was a little bit chewy. You could obviously customize your toppings, the sugar amount, the iced amount, etc. that sounds pretty standard. The flavors were delicious and super fresh so frankly, if this came out of a can or out of powder, it definitely didn't taste like it. Really top quality and great taste for the price. I believe each drink was $6.25 which puts it right at par with a lot of its competitors in Chinatown. Also, if you order some of the unique drinks that come in a unique square cup, believe it or not. The location is completely decked out in their pink. It's very cute and I assume was really put together for the purpose of social media pictures as you can see from the pictures I took. I would definitely come back here again as it is unique however, a lot of the menu is pretty similar across the Boba competitors located in this exact same mall as well.
This place is so cute. I remember when it first opened a couple years ago with their surprise keychain but the drinks are good. There's two kiosk you can order from and the decoration inside is so cute. They're so nice. Once we grabbed our drinks they said thank you for waiting and it just really shows how considerate they are.
So quick!! So easy!! So delicious!! It's so cute in here. I would definitely go back for the watermelon and lychee
Very cute & decorative store. Low rating was concluded due to the wait of 25 minutes for one drink and customers getting their drink before ours. The drink itself was refreshing & aesthetically pleasing. Not sure if I will come back though
TICKLED PINK If a magic pink elephant simultaneously vomited and had diarrhea then this would be the result. This place seems like it was the result of an interior design job by HELLO Kitty. Pink eye has a whole other meaning in this place. Ok, I'll stop trying to PINK a fight with this business. I will give them credit, because you would be tickled pink over the mini version of Chicago's iconic BEAN sculpture. It is a cool prop for photo ops and just adds a cute and memorable element to the decor. I'll admit, I couldn't resist taking a Pic of the mini landmark, myself. As for the drink, I got the MATCHA TEA LATTE and it was topped wth matcha ice cream. It was mild with matcha flavor and was perfectly creamy and sweet. They had me at ice cream, but the bonus was the ice cream served a functional perk as it helped keep the drink sweet as the ice melted and diluted the drink. The variety of drinks was impressive and anyone is sure find a drink to their liking here. They only had oat milk as the dairy alternative. It would be nice if they also had almond or soy milk, but because of allergies they may be trying to keep safe from cross contamination You can order at the kiosk or with the cashier which is efficient for keeping the queue flowing. It looks like a pink color bomb went off in here, but at least the tea was also exploding with flavor
I've been wanting to come here forever and finally cane with my friend. The space is super small but really cute with lots of pink everywhere and some fun Chicago decor too. They have so many drink options, but I went with the matcha strawberry with boba and green tea ice cream. 10/10. So good. Sweet, creamy, and just the right amount of matcha flavor. It's always packed no matter what time you go, and you can tell the staff in the back are hustling nonstop. They work hard!!! Will definitely be back to try more drinks.
It was busy, but the wait time for the drink to be made was not long at all. Digital kiosk for ordering. Vibes - music was Asian-pop (bonus points) limited seating, but deck was pretty.

Loved my drink! Very refreshing. I'm not a fan of watermelon and tried a tea that had watermelon in it and I wasn't made at all. Very TikTok friendly.
Off the main Chinatown path but worth a stop! You can order your drink at the kiosk and customize everything - even the level of sweetness. Lots of yummy drinks to try. Even on a busy evening, the wait is minimal. I heard the you can pay a little extra to get a special cup with a fun little surprise keychain!
Cute! Love the pink interior and baby bean in the side of the room. We went on a Sunday and it took a little longer than I expected to get my drink but when I did it was fantastic. My brown sugar boba was especially warm and chewy which is my favorite part of milk tea. I'd definitely come back! - AD
Came in on a busy weekend to grab a tea to sip on while walking around China town. The inside is smaller, but decorated so nicely in different shades of pink and a variety of textures. It's pretty easy to find the menu and order on a tablet. You do have the option to order through a person behind the counter too, though. I went with a standard brown sugar black milk tea and only 30% sugar. I like that you can customize the level of ice and sweetness. My drink was ready within 2-3 minutes, despite how busy they were. It was exactly as I ordered and perfect to quench my thirst during afternoon explorations.

Ume Chicago's decor is very cute and has many photo ops. There were many people inside when we arrived. You can order on the tablet or with the cashier. We waited a long time for two drinks. Many people that ordered multiple drinks after us and received their drinks before us which was a bit frustrating. The plushie in the cup is a great idea. I ordered the Brown Sugar Boba & Mochi Milk Tea which tasted good but I could have gone without the mochi. I personally didn't like the thick liquid texture but I'm sure others do! read more

I knew of their grand opening on 7/21 and was late by an hour, the line was sooo long! Lol. Decided to go today 7/22 and waited 2 hours and finally ordered our drinks. The drinks do not disappoint! Plus they have the surprise plushies that I'm drawn to. I like the concept of including plushies or adding these cute plushies to their store. I'm a fan! I will definitely go back again and try other flavors. 1. Strawberry Matcha Slush 2. Peach Oolong Milk Tea 3. Mega Bucket Milk Tea with 3 Toppings read more

One of the cutest boba tea shops I've ever seen. It is clean with plenty of seating. I love that there was the Chicago Skyline and a Bean right when you walked in. I was here on a weekday, and it wasn't busy at all. Which was fine with me because Chinatown can get crazy busy at times. You could either order at the kiosk, or at the register. The woman who took my order was friendly. With so many drinks to choose from, I got the popular lychee and watermelon tea with lychee fruit and jelly. There is also food here if you're looking for a quick bite. It was the perfect sweet treat after eating dumplings next door. read more
The boba drinks here are on par with the rest of the options in Chinatown so I think what makes this place stand out is the little plushies that you can get in a drink or purchase separately. I was able to go during the opening weekend and get a few drinks and popcorn chicken! The popcorn chicken was so good lol would get it again! The store is very cute and makes a great photo op. Went back after opening week and wait time is now typical (thankfully!) read more

I finally got to try out their boba tea. It was delicious! I originally wanted to try their strawberry matcha slush, but they were out of matcha powder, so I got the strawberry slush with salted cream. Then the next time I went their again. It was disappointing...I'm not sure if it was because it was on a Friday night, so it was busy. We waited for a long time for our order. I saw that they have a new item on the menu, black tea with taro & mochi, so my sister ordered that one. My cousin recommended the peach slush, so my brother ordered that one to try, and I ordered the black milk tea with pearl and taro. I usually order my drinks with 50% sugar because they tend to be on a sweeter side. But when my brother and I tried ours, it was not sweet at all, like they completely forgot to add the syrup to our drinks. I have no idea if it was too busy on a Friday night that they forgot one ingredient, but it was as if it had 0% sugar. So I couldn't really enjoy my drink to the fullest. I'll probably have to try it one more time to see if that was the case. read more

What a cute boba spot! We happen to walk past Ume tea while waiting to be seated at a restuarant. The decor is so cute, everything is pink and cute and they have a mini chicago bean on display. It's self service to order your drinks/food. We only ordered drinks- Brown Sugar boba & mochi black milk tea & Lychee and watermelon green tea. Both were really good the lychee watermelon tea was very refreshing and the brown sugar boba so creamy and tasty. They do have an option to adjust the sweetness which I appreciate, I chose 75% 'sweetness' which was perfect! They also have some appetizers (popcorn chicken, fries etc) if u want a snack. There's some seating, not alot. Also fun photo ops. Will definitely be back to try other drinks! *total was $19.26 for two drinks, we ordered some extras which added to the price. read more

I am beyond disappointed with our experience at Ume Tea. Guess how long it took to get one of our two bubble teas? One hour. An entire painstaking hour of waiting indoors in an overcrowded space with people equally as confused and annoyed at the situation. That is absolutely absurd. It should not take this long or even half this time for two drinks. What's more is that one of the women behind the counter saw people she knew and got all of their drinks ready ahead of EVERYONE else. Preferential treatment at its finest. The store is absurdly hot, music is loud, and it does not make any sense. Why do you have everyone ordering on the left on iPads and yet all the same people are supposed to pick up on the left? Which makes the entire store wait on the left side. What is more is that after ordering it says on the text message that they'll text you when it's done. Never received that text either. Everyone there should have gotten their drinks for free. This is by far one of the worst experiences we've had. Once we got our tea it was fine but one of them had huge watermelon seeds in it. Absolutely need to rethink the layout, hire more workers, actually fill the orders in order and not when your friends walk in. read more

Best boba shop in Chicago!! Would go again. Super friendly service. The people were so sweet and helpful in getting my order. I did the cup upgrade and got super cute toys. A must go read more
The interior was really cute and so aesthetically pleasing; I loved their decor so much! I have not tried their food options so I can't comment on that; however they do look very appetizing. I ordered a brown sugar oolong milk tea; although it wasn't bad at all, it tasted just like regular oolong milk tea. It did not have that brown sugar flavor at all. Other than that, cute place. I'll try another drink next time. read more

The boba here is so good! It's fresh, soft and sweeten with brown sugar. I went on a Saturday when it was busy and it took 10-15 minutes to get our drinks. It is a little pricey but for how well balanced it was with perfectly cooked boba, it was worth. I had the black milk tea with taro. It had real taro in it which not a lot of places have. They also have blind boxes with a plushy on the bottom. It was super cute and unique to try! read more

Very cute decor and ambiance. I came because I saw how the cups can be opened for a plushie hidden inside. It is an option that can be added to any drink. The plushie part was really fun but the drink itself was sort of bland and not really flavorful. It was supposed to be iced but most of it melted and it ended up being sort of watered down and luke warm. The boba seemed a little undercooked but since I mainly came for the experience of the plushie cups I considered it a success. read more

Although, I really wanted to like this place, I wasn't able to. I got the White Peach Oolong Milk Tea and honestly....it tasted like nothing. I've never had a drink similar to this so I might not know what it's meant to taste like but it just wasn't delicious at all. Total was also 6.56 for the drink alone. However, the ambiance is very cute and perfect to take pictures. Seating was also limited. The worker who took my order was extremely friendly and was kind enough to explain how to order :) We waited less than 10 minutes to order for a Thursday afternoon. read more

Enjoyed the oolong milk tea with brown sugar boba! Was super cute inside. Pricing was a little steep at ~$7 including tax for a small but the drink and boba were very good! The milk is non dairy and as a lactose intolerant girlie, can confirm I had no issues. Will be back! read more
I love this place!! My first time here there was a bit of a line but I'm glad it's died down a bit I know the line used to be out the door! I got the surprise plushy cup obviously with the brown sugar milk tea boba add Oreos 50% sugar as well as the Taiwanese popcorn chicken spicy version. The boba was soft, chewy, & delicious! The drink was also very good, I just love the combination of Oreos & milk tea with boba, yummy. My plushy was SO cute, a little bunny in a green panda costume are you kidding meeeee. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was so so SO good & addicting wow my boyfriend & I were taken back with it. I just went back yesterday with a group of friends & we all got a surprise plushy cup, I tried the Oreo creme brûlée milk tea this time & I got a cute little purple star plushy! I also got TWO orders of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken to take home for my bf & I to have for dinner/leftovers today (that's right it's THAT good) read more
