This was a fun experience as we wanted to try the tea in the special cup which has a collectible plushie sealed in the bottom of the cup. They have regular cups too if you don't want to pay extra for the plushies cup. The store interior is very cute and pink, but it basically has no room for seating. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the brown sugar boba milk tea with 30% sugar level. It was tasty and not overly sweet with a pleasant brown sugar taste. I tore open the special door at the bottom of the cup to find a cute plushie. Overall this was a decent and fun experience, but I don't think the tea was anything extraordinary. The plushie is cute, but I don't think I would pay extra repeatedly for one. Maybe try this place once for the unique experience...? read more

Good boba tea! Unique decor theme. You order and pay using a kiosk and pick up your orders at the window.

They had rose tea latte sampling with 30% sugar and it was delicious! I ordered the mango sago pomelo medium size, slushie-like. I enjoyed my drink too, even on such a cold day. A very cute store with a couple of tables where you can sit and enjoy your drink over a chat. They have cute plushies in their cabinets and cups that you can see prior to purchasing. Easy ordering, they even highlight the most popular options. read more

We came here just ONCE and now I'm staring this place every time we drive by asking my husband if he thinks they would let me buy a mystery cup with no drink because we already had dessert. This place was everything I dreamed of. Yes, it's small, but...I'm a bunny mom, so naturally I was obsessed from the second I saw this place on the 'gram. Is it a splurge? Yes, it is. But isn't allllllll desserts and boba a splurge? Bet you can't get a plushie with your drink at other places! The drinks were so good, and the interior of this shop was so stinkin' cute! Bunny ft. Chicago themed everything and THEY HAVE A LITTLE BEAN. You heard me, a little bean/Cloud Gate/whatever you call it. I can't wait to come back here, I wish we were in the area more often but I'm hoping Ume Tea sticks around for a while! read more

This boba shop is so cute and has a great location right next to many Asian food places. The service was quick as they worked hard to get as many drinks out to a long line. I got the surprise plush drink where a plush comes out of the cup! It's such a cute concept and i enjoyed my drink as well. This drink was pretty expensive but it makes sense since there's a plush that comes with it. I would definitely come again if im ever in Chinatown! read more

Stumbled upon this place during a boba craving while visiting Chicago. The place is decorated so cute and is very clean! They played get music and ordering on the iPads is very easy and convenient. I ordered the Lychee Watermelon and it was very refreshing and tasty! I love that you can adjust the sweetness to your drink as well. Would definitely recommend this place if you are wanting a sweet treat... will definitely come back when we are in Chicago again! :) read more

I came here after seeing an Instagram video about their surprise plush cups. This boba shop is adorable and covered in pink and bunnies! It is a bit on the smaller side and fills up really quickly with lots of people. They have lots of different boba drink options ranging from fruity to more creamy. You order at an iPad placed at the front counter. It has you enter a phone number so that it can text you when your order is ready; however, the staff do not utilize this. There was a female staff calling the order numbers out, but it was extremely difficult to hear her given the crowd. The boba was good, but given the trouble and craziness to get the boba, I wouldn't come again. I would definitely recommend getting the surprise plush cup at least once! read more

Cute boba shop! Very nicely decorated. I ordered the passionfruit watermelon tea with the special keychain cup (extra $3.50, which is pretty fair). The tea was super refreshing with bits of watermelon, great for a hot summer day. Would come back again! read more

Good boba, check. Ambiance and social media photo worthy, check and would I come back, yes. They have a good variety of flavors, snacks and drinks. I am not a fan of pink but the decor is so cute and on brand. I appreciate the friendly customer service; help me make my choices and didn't mind millions of questions lol. Definitely check this location when in Chinatown. read more

This boba shop is crazy busy at the moment because it's new and they have a plush cup so I get why the wait was INSANE. Half an hour wait for two boba teas and popcorn chicken and the store is too packed that there were no comfortable seats to wait basically, but the boba was delicious and the plushie was adorable! It was just 3 dollars extra to get the boba cup and I think that's the same amount to get the bunny ear cup too! My boyfriend got hungry and got popcorn chicken which was also pretty good. Had to deduct a star because of all the busy chaos in the store, but overall pretty good place. Can't wait to try again. read more

Pretty decent boba for the Chicago area! They have this really cute drink option where you can add a plushie for about $4, and I remember thinking the plushies were pretty cute. I got a regular milk tea with boba, and it was actually really solid. Milk tea flavor was good, and the tapioca pearls were cooked well. Chicago doesn't have that many good boba shops, but Ume is definitely up there. read more

The textures were insane in this drink- too many at once. The milk tea with low sweetness was ok. Took a while to get our order, the people working there don't really talk to their customers cuz it's all automated and on iPad. read more

We tried: 1. Oreo Creme Brulee Boba Milk Tea 2. Mochi Red Bean Milk Tea 3. Passion Fruit Green Tea w/ lychee jelly and boba 4. Taro Latte w/ coconut pudding 5. Strawberrry Matcha Slush (Asked for 70% sweetness for all drinks) We liked the taste of the drinks. Nothing didn't taste as advertised. I was very impressed with the toppings - good taro flavor, boba chewiness, and the stringy (for lack of better term) but smooth mochi that's easy yand pleasant to drink. Passion fruit green tea was very sweet and I would go down to 50 or even 25% to get more tea flavor. Staff was very nice. Interior design is very cute and professionally thought out. Hopefully they put in more seating. read more

How cute is this place?!?! I've seen their surprise plushie cups everywhere and finally made my way in. The menu is so big and their drinks look unique compared to other boba places that I've been. Just like many other places, you place your order on an ipad - I don't mind this because I like seeing what the drinks look like and can get a flavor profile of what drinks consist of. I ended up getting a lychee peachy green tea slush with creme brulee topping. It was good but I think I expected the consistency to be full slush and not just blended ice. I upgraded an extra $3.50 for the surprise plushie! This was super fun and I would recommend it. If you're picky about plushies but still want one, they sell some cute ones for $3.99. I definitely look forward to coming back and possibly purchasing the bunny ears cap because it's so cute. read more

Delicious tea, cute plushies, and photogenic interior. What more could you want from a boba shop? This is honestly the best boba shop that I've ever been to, and I'm picky about my boba. I got the Lychee & Watermelon green tea, which was so fresh that there were watermelon chunks at the bottom. It was so refreshing and I loved that I could distinctly taste the tea as well. They're best known for their Surprise Bunny Cup, which is a cup that comes with a plushie inside! I loved the whole experience of opening the bottom of the cup and discovering which plushie I got. And the plushie was really cute (see my picture). Also, the interior is stunning. Everything is pink and bunny themed, and I loved the Bean setup as well. Yes, I did take a bunch of pictures of myself here. The photos turned out really nice! Next time I'm in Chicago, this will be my first stop. read more

I ordered the osmanthus oolong milk tea and it did not disappoint! I definitely was sold to come here over other boba stops in Chicago due to tiktok videos I saw of their cute surprise plushie cups you can order! Not to mention, the ambiance was on par with the same cuteness energy, pink everywhere and there's this back drop which is perfect for some photo opportunities (there's a miniature Chicago bean!) read more

Cute, small delicious boba spot. They have cute lids you can buy but they only fit the taller cups. They have other decor and some food items as well. Staff was very friendly and make ordering easy. They were very patient with the lady in front of me who had like 7 kids with her. There is an obvious order here and pick up spot and the other customer parked her stroller there. The woman at the counter apologized and handed me my order. Not her fault that lady can't read. Overall great experience and we thought the decor was too cute not to share. Mini bean is adorable. This's by far the best boba tea place on the strip! My go to drink is the milk tea, with taro and mochi! If you want something fruity, would recommend the mango pomelo sago! This's one of the few places that actually lets you do 0% sugar! The drinks have really good flavors, it's not like the powdered mix boba drinks you get in some other places. The store is all pink, and well decorated with a bunny theme. It's self service ordering or you can have someone to take your order as well. They do have 3 tablets that you can order from. The wait could be long sometimes when they're busy. Overall, service was good, and the quality of the drinks is always consistent! Next time when you visit Chinatown and craving for boba tea, check out this spot. Also, you can upgrade it to a surprise cup which comes with a little stuffed animal inside!! read more

Really cute boba spot. After devouring some dumplings next door we stopped here for a sweet treat. I went with the brown sugar boba and mochi milk tea. It's their signature drink. It is rich and creamy with homemade brown sugar boba and drinkable mochi. The consistency is a little off putting the first few sips but then I was hooked. Every few days I consider the trek to Chinatown to get another one. It's creamy, sweet, the mochi is almost gelatinous but has such a sweet and delicious flavor to it. It's the perfect treat to sip while walking around, exploring. read more

Such a good boba spot! Definitely lots of picture possibilities if you enjoy that. The drinks are delicious, you truly cannot go wrong. The matcha creme brulee (without the oreo) and the thai tea creme brulee are such good cheat drinks. Theyre sweet, but so delicious. I could enjoy just the creme brulee on its own!! The black tea, jasmine tea and watermelon passion fruit green tea are great refreshing and less sweet options for a treat that's not as dessert like. Definitely worth checking out as your next boba spot!! read more

Ume Tea - Passionfruit green tea w/ boba and lychee jelly - Bubble Tea Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I was really happy when I saw Ume Tea was going to open in Chicago! You can order from an ipad near the front or you can place an order with the staff at register. If you order on the ipad I noticed there's a $0.25 service fee. If it's crazy busy and you don't want to wait in line, it's not too bad. But you can save yourself a quarter by ordering at the register. I used the ipad and got 3 drinks - all with oat milk. They were pretty busy so I guess the ball was dropped on one of the drinks because one definitely had whole milk in it. This was obviously very disappointing when you're already on Lake Shore Drive. Despite the hiccup with the milk, the drinks were tasty. My favorite is the Strawberry Matcha Slush (dairy free yay!). The surprise cups were fun too! Since then, I have gone back to try other drinks and my other visits were fine. Ume Tea has become one of my favorite boba spots in Chinatown and I look forward to trying more of their food menu next time. read more

It's a lot cleaner than it was during opening month. The pickup area is a little more accessible now. Seating is still limited and no restroom so overall it's still more a grab and go place than a sit and enjoy place, but if nobody's hanging around, it's good to sit and hang out. The teas are delicious. I really enjoy the passion fruit and watermelon green tea. The teas came out pretty quick the last few times I've come. There's even a bean for the cute photoshoot wall. read more

This might be one of my new fav boba spots in Chicago! The inside was really cute and they have a ton of cute merch. I got the bunny ears to put over my boba cup, and they also have key chains, coozies, cups with a stuffed animal in them, etc. I was also really surprised by how inexpensive it was! My boba was around $6 and you can get a whole bucket for under $10. I ordered the white peach oolong which was so good. The line was a bit long but I got my drink quickly too! This place is everything and more! Everyone else giving poor reviews on Google really have something up their bums because I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my time tonight. Today was their grand opening. I've been to a couple of grand openings in the past and this one, in my opinion, was executed amazingly! My coworker and I got off just after 6. We headed straight over. She stood in line while I looked for parking. We had arrived at about 6:40. They warned her it was a 3hr wait from where she was standing, they would close at 9:30, couldn't promise we would make it in. We were willing to wait and I had been hyped up to visit since their stories hit my IG feed. While we waited, they passed out super cute balloons, gave discount cards to everyone, stood in line with us not only to turn others away but also engaging with us. Everyone was amazing and gave the best service. The best and worse part is they stayed open for all of us. They were supposed to close at 9:30. We didn't get to order until about 11:30. We received our boba and popcorn chicken by 11:40. We had been there for 5 hours but it really did not feel like that. I am forever grateful to the entire staff for going above and beyond to still satisfy everyone who had waited. They even accommodated a couple of families that came in quite late to the line. Once inside, they treated us to free fries for our patience. Their fries were great with a nice chili pepper rub which reminded me of a restaurant long gone by my home my cousin and I would frequent after every swim at the pool. We ordered two surprise boba each, popcorn chicken, and a lot of merch. I didn't have time to take pics of everything but can not say enough of amazing the staff was and the long day they all put in. I plan on returning many many more times. I'm going to need a rewards card lol because I absolutely love Ume Tea! Thank you all!!! read more

How cute is this place?! I came to Ume on Sunday, their third day open. I only waited about 20-25 minutes in line, even though the line looked extremely long. The staff was working hard and they were quick! You can either order at their tablet or at the cashier. Inside the shop is all pink! It's so cute! They have nice decor and lights around the shop. They also have a wall of goodies you can purchase such as plushies, cups, and drink pouches. Kinda small inside and there are only 2 small tables inside. I ordered the Black Tea Latte with Taro and Mochi and I absolutely loved it! Probably one of the best drinks I've had in a while. I asked for the tea base to not be sweetened, but I was informed that they already don't add any sweetener to this drink base specifically. The chunks of actual taro were yummy and so was the mochi! My sister got the Oreo Creme Brulee Boba Milk Tea, which she mentioned was really good. We opted for the plush surprise cups. Each drink was $9.45+tax/tip. With the plush, I actually thought the price was fair! I received the cutest little bunny keychain! :) One of my new favorite boba spots! Can't wait to come back! read more
