First impression? This place is SO artsy! The whole store has such a cool, creative vibe that you'll definitely want to snap a few pictures while you're there. But let me warn you... the line was LOONGGGG. So do yourself a favor and order through the app before you even get there. Trust me, your future self will thank you! I got the Coconut Mango Blue and it was exactly what I needed! Super refreshing, fruity, and perfect for the weather. It's light, tropical, and an easy drink to sip on when you want something refreshing. Would I wait in that line again? Maybe... but next time, I'm definitely ordering ahead!

It is a chain, but I am glad this new store is in Chicago. Nothing new, more long lines. The interior when you walk in is modern looking, you don't see the kitchen (where they make the drinks) you only see a small opening in the wall where they put the drinks on. Drinks are decent but I think it is a bit high then again, most drinks are usually. I like the Kale drink with no sugar. Cost is $7. I wish they open the mobile app.
Their cafe is really sleek and modern but it's definitely at the expense of a slow ordering system since the menu is only at the counter in front of the cashier, which can lead to indecisive groups getting stuck and a longer line. However I had sweet service and they explained the drink to me and the drink itself is delicious. I got the cloud matcha and it has the right balance of everything, plus the matcha is actually good quality, the right color and nicely made. So no complaints there! The price is regular for matcha in Chinatown at this point so not too bad. I'd come back with more time (it took 20 mins for one drink from entering to exit)
HEYTEA I LOVE YOU!!!!! My favorite place to go after school. Service and drinks are consistently phenomenal, and I really enjoy the tranquil environment of HeyTea. Today I got the new Strawberry Rich Chocolate drink, in both hot and cold. I highly recommend the hot version. In my honest opinion, the cold version strongly reminded me of chocolate milk, but the strawberry cheese foam was delectable. On the other hand, the autumn weather perfectly suited the warmth of the Hot Strawberry Rich Chocolate. 100000000/10 Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a sweet treat, and will definitely be back here soon!

I didn't know what to choose so the worker helped me choose this drink since I wanted something refreshing. The flavor of the mango with the milk and sago was really good! I enjoyed it and would definitely get it again.
Excited to see Heytea in Chicago. Minimalist and simple/clean design. I like that they have plenty of non-milk options. The grape ones were too sweet for me (default level), so will need to dial it down even more. The coconut mango boom was really good, I think it was better the the two mango drinks I had at Mango Mango. That one's sweetness level was fine (default level). I liked that even with the mango and coconut flavors, the jasmine tea flavor still came through, even tho doesn't pop as much as Molly Tea. I would've wanted to try the matcha based options but didn't have people to share/help me finish if I ordered those. Excited to try their well known triple matcha one next. A little disappointed that the WeChat mini program ordering didn't work for us. And that the menu didn't have the mainland options I was looking forward to.
The longjing milk tea is really pleasant. It tastes similar to the original milk tea but has a slightly more herbal/tea taste. I'd get it again. The line from recently opening has died down so there isn't a long wait. Bathrooms are spacious and clean.
During opening weekend, friends and I ordered: 1. Coconut Mango Bloom 2. Crisp Grape Bloom 3. Triple Supreme Matcha Latte 4. Jasmine Milk Tea. First time trying the grape bloom and matcha latte. Very good. Grape bloom had chopped up, crisp grapes - very refreshing. Didn't taste super artificially sweet. Matcha latte was creamy, strong matcha flavor, and not too bitter. I've had the mango bloom before in a different location, my friends loved it so it sounds consistent. Jasmine milk tea was solid and also consistent No issues with service. Pricey but the quality is there. HeyTea will be a welcome addition to Chinatown!
Aesthetics are pretty. Drinks are tasty. I enjoyed my experience. The line to order is long but part of it is because you can customize your drink. I hope down the road they will have a kiosk to make the experience a bit faster. The hype was real for this bubble tea shop that recently opened in Chinatown. I saw on social media that the lines were wrapped around the block and that customers were waiting for 3+ hours. The first time I went in on a Tuesday after opening weekend and there was a wait for about 10 people around 11:30AM. I was disappointed to learn that 6 of the popular drinks were already sold out and the shop had only opened 30 minutes! I ended up getting the crisp grape boom. It was icy and sweet, perfect for the summer time heatwave. My second and 3rd times, I was very fortunate to not have to wait and I was able to get the two drinks I really wanted. The coconut mango boom is my favorite. The mango puree was fresh and sweet and the sago was chewy. The best part of the drink was definitely the silky coconut pudding. I've also ordered the kale boost tea. The tea is sweet and it doesn't taste like kale at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the chia seeds that is in the drink. The cup is also reusable too. I'll definitely be back to try more drinks in the coming days.
I also come for the boom drinks since they're refreshing on a hot day! Service is quick for how busy they can be. They have decent amount of seating and spacious!
I was here on Friday morning. There was no line, but they were out of all the matcha drinks and fruit drinks. They only had milk tea. I was disappointed because I saw a lot of people lining up during their opening weekend. I really wanted to try their drinks. I ended up ordering Pistachio Cloud Jasmine Coconut and the Yingde Cheese milk tea. They were both ok just normal milk tea. The decor was nice, but I don't think you would want to sit for long to enjoy it, like at a cafe. Service was fast. I would come back to try their matcha and other drinks. Hope next time when I go back, they won't be out of stock....
Hey Tea is doing something that few other tea shops in Chicago are doing. They have this ultra modern ambiance, great service, and a general vibe that really transports you. I got the mango coconut boom. It has this lovely fresh mango puree and coconut jelly. Super refreshing, great handheld treat. We bumped into fellow Yelp Elites Sigmund K and Connie K in Chinatown who mentioned they were off to Hey Tea. After lunch, we decided to check it out. It's a cool minimalist space. There are lots of grape based drinks, but not the gross artificial grape flavor we grew up with. The grape tasted fresh. I opted for 70% sweetness which was good for me. I think I could have done the 30% and still enjoyed the drink as both the guava and grape already has sweetness. At $7.99, the drink is expensive, but nowadays it seems to be the norm. They have unique flavor drinks on their menu and would like to try one of them next time. read more

Tried the blue matcha here and it was SO good! It has matcha, spirulina, and coconut milk, with little bits of coconut that make it even better. Definitely one of the more unique drinks I've had, and I would totally get it again. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey, but honestly, the drink was delicious. The space is also really nice, with a clean, minimalistic vibe, and the service was good too. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend checking it out! read more

Cute tea shop in Chinatown with fun flavors and a modern interior. We went on a Friday afternoon, and there were at least 10 people in line; we waited about 10 minutes to order, then another 10 minutes to get our drinks. The drinks tasted great, but I'm not sure it was worth $9. I recommend the new strawberries and cream jasmine tea. My friend also loves the triple matcha. The interior is modern/black-and-white and has around 15 seats in the back. read more

HeyTea, at this time, is the newest boba spot in Chinatown, so we had to give it a try! I really enjoyed the coconut mango boom since it was sweet, refreshing, and packed with toppings. I definitely want to try their milk teas or matcha drinks since they seemed very appealing and popular as well. The service was decent, but I just wish there was a way to look at the menu while waiting in line or be able to order at a kiosk. You get to the cashier and have to look at the menu right then and there. The ambiance was very simple and modern; you don't actually see them making the drinks since it just comes out of a tiny window on the side. I'd give this place a try again, but I'm not sure if it separates itself too much from the other boba spots in Chinatown. read more
I don't really get the hype. Waiting 3 hours for this would be tough for me personally... Cloud Longjing Milk Tea (+ Coconut Jelly): This was easily my favorite drink. The matcha foam on top was delicious, and the Longjing tea had a unique flavor that I hadn't tried before. It tasted distinct from the usual tea options and was really enjoyable. 9/10 Matcha Cloud Jasmine: This one was just okay. I prefer a stronger jasmine flavor, like what I get at Molly Tea, so this tasted a bit lighter to me. Because of that, it came across as somewhat watered down, even though I don't think it actually was. 5/10 Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless there was a specialty drink that really caught my attention. The Longjing milk tea was great, but the other drink didn't do enough to justify the wait for me. read more

Stopped by to try Heytea after they opened in Chicago. I was expecting an insanely long wait, but the line actually moved pretty quickly and was much more manageable than I thought. The interior was beautiful and had a clean, minimalist modern vibe that I really loved. It felt spacious and well-designed. We ordered the Crisp Grape Boom and Mango Cloud. The Crisp Grape Boom was refreshing and easy to drink, though the grapes themselves were a little on the sour side that day. The Mango Cloud was decent as well, but it wasn't particularly memorable. Overall, the drinks were solid and refreshing. I've had Heytea in China before, and I thought the drinks there were a tad better, but I'd still happily grab a drink here when I'm craving something refreshing. I just probably wouldn't wait in a super long line for it. read more
So happy that Chicago boba tea market is expanding exponentially with a lot more options. We have tried numerous drinks from here and absolutely loved every drink. My favorite is their regular milk tea, it taste so different than the other boba shop in Chinatown- rich but not heavy tasting cream and delicious boba. Other favor was the coco boom? I was super excited when they announced the HeyTea for Chicago. I've previously been in NYC and SF, and I LOVED the coconut mango boom. However, I did not like the drink at this location. Oh how much Heytea has me on my toes...I love everything about it. We came in at a lucky time where there was no long line (waited about 2mins in line before ordering), and the staff were all so friendly! I was especially impressed how the staff was showing the price very clearly to me for each drink and how much the total would be. I wish they had their online ordering available with the app, but unfortunately since they are so new, they most likely have to wait until the hype gets a bit lower so staff wouldn't be too overwhelmed with orders. The interior is very nice! I love how they have a seating area away from the waiting area for drinks, and there were different seating options. But don't expect to stay here like a cafe since seats can get filled up quickly! We tried the Coconut Mango Boom and the Crispy Grape Boom. Both were so delicious and full of flavor. The Coconut Mango Boom was a nice creamy mango drink, similar to a Mango Lassi but more so with greater hints of coconut. I like how the Coconut Mango Boom had sago pearls too, so it was like dessert in a drink! The Crispy Grape Boom was such a refreshing drink. The grape flavoring had a well balanced level of sweetness and the little grape bits inside the drink made it feel more authentic to a fruit slushie. I especially loved how this was a slushie, so you could have that satisfying ice crunch each time you took a sip. I have always loved Heytea. I am so happy there is a spot in Chicago now! I've been so excited to try Hey Tea since all my friends always rave about it. It's only been in New York and California so when the first Chicago location opened in Chinatown, I knew I had to go. I went with a friend around 1:30 PM on a weekday (not grand opening day), they've been open for a few days. Parking in Chinatown is always a struggle. It's pretty much street parking only, so plan ahead or just take public transport. The inside is very different from your typical boba shop. It's minimal: stone walls, all gray and black tones, very clean. Seating is limited, maybe 10-15 spots max, so it's more of a grab and go situation. The drink making area / kitchen is hidden in the back. Bonus: the bathroom was super clean, single stall/private. When we got in line, there were maybe five people ahead of us. We were told that matcha, grape, AND mango drinks were all sold out. These are what they're known for. This wasn't even opening week, they'd already been open, so I feel like they should've anticipated the demand and stocked up. I was pretty disappointed because that was the whole reason I came, long drive from suburbs. We ended up getting the pistachio cloud jasmine tea and the brown sugar boba. I like pistachio by itself. I like jasmine tea by itself. Together though? Not really my thing, but if that combo sounds good to you, go for it. The black sugar boba was good though. Overall, I left feeling a little let down just because of the stock situation, but I do think this place has potential. I'll definitely be back and hopefully they get their inventory together by then! TLDR: Super hyped, a little let down. Sold out of matcha, grape, and mango = big bummer. Pistachio cloud jasmine tea wasn't that good. Black sugar boba was good. Will return. read more
Ordered on the app, which I definitely recommend! I could track my order and receive it as soon as it said it was ready. There was a line but I didn't have to wait. Got the triple matcha this time and it was a lot of matcha but the extra stuff in the matcha didn't really add anything for me. There was matcha jelly and matcha mochi. I like decoration of this place. Pretty good overall! The jelly at the bottom was my favorite part. It had a soft, bouncy texture somewhere between mochi and jelly, chewy but not sticky or dense, almost melting in your mouth. The matcha was smooth, creamy, and well-balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness, though I wish it had a slightly stronger, more bitter matcha flavor. The light matcha foam on top complemented everything nicely. We arrived around 10 PM, so there was no line, although customers were still coming in. Was it mind-blowing? Not quite, especially for the price, which felt a bit steep. Still, an enjoyable drink overall! read more

Love this place! It's easily one of my favorite bubble tea spots. The Grape one was absolutely amazing--so refreshing and packed with real fruit. I came back the next day just to try the Mango with cheese form and it did not disappoint. The cheese foam was so creamy and paired perfectly with the mango. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. No kiosks for ordering which contributes to the longer wait times. It took 30 mins from when I walked in for me to order, get my drink and leave! I don't think the longjing cheese milk tea I got was worth that wait or the price paid. The drink came in a regular sized cup but was ~$8 after tax. The quality of the tea was good--it felt most similar to Molly Tea if I had to compare boba shops (though HeyTea does not cool tiny straws that Molly has lol), but overall I think I like Chincha best in the area. Sleek and modern design but the layout makes it tight for large crowds. There isn't a lot of space to line up from the counter to the doorway so it gets really crowded around the entrance after a few people are lined up waiting to order and as people wait for their drinks. Narrow hallway to several seating area too. They have two restrooms though! read more

HeyTea is my favorite bubble tea shop in the US, but this location is too busy (the queue is over an hour long during weekends and holidays), and too new. They're out of all the drinks I want on the menu for two weeks now and so I just went with my second favorite, Jasmine Cloud Tea with light ice and no sugar. The cheese cloud is creamy and lightly sweetened. The tea is strong and frangrant. It's a great drink and I hope it can get to a place where we can place online orders like in NYC and avoid the wait. The employees are friendly but seem like they need more training. The shop is designed well with a good number of seating. read more

I went during the first weekend of grand opening and there was a huge line to get in. It did take me 45 minutes from start to finish to receive my drink. Otherwise the drinks were delicious. My favorite is the triple supreme matcha. I would pass on the brown sugar milk tea though, it was pretty standard. The inside has more seating than expected and I liked the minimalistic design. read more
Wanted to see what the hype was about but the two drinks I wanted to try, the mango and triple matcha, were out of stock. There's always a line so be prepared to wait. If I go back, I would skip the milk tea (the boba was good but the milk tea itself wasn't good) I would get the grape and the kale boost.
