I did not have high expectations for Chicago's boba scene but Uni Uni was my first taste through delivery. The tea was pretty solid and left a good impression. Cute theme with the unicorn. Yulu Oolong Milk Tea w/ Boba - I love roasted milk teas because the process creates a deeper, richer flavor. There were strong undertones of caramel-like toasted coffee and the roasted milk tea was nearly perfect. While the boba was overcooked to a softer chew, it was still pleasing to chew. However, it totally lacked flavor and could use a better marination process. Uni Signature Milk Tea w/ White Peach Oolong Jelly - after having the yulu oolong, this one wasn't as flavorful. However, I believe it's a black tea base but very typical to other classic milk teas. Nothing special. The white peach jelly is fairly unique, but mild in taste with a tiny, sweet aftertaste. I'd recommend other drinks since they have a great selection!
I tried the Lychee Peach Fruit Tea and it was so good! Definitely on the sweeter side so keep that in mind. Service was fast but there was no where to sit down on the inside except for on the window ledge. The self service kiosks also weren't available but that did not bother me!
I love Uni Uni - their drinks are truly refreshing. My favourite is their lychee peach jasmine green tea with lychee and mango jelly. Their branding is too cute, and I love the convenience of self ordering. You can also pick how much sugar you want in your drink, which is perfect. The orders are prepared in no time. I only wish for more Uni Unis to come up around the city.
It's a cool little place in the Chinatown that has interesting boba cups. I got the Uni Signature Milk Tea and it was good. The brown sugar tapioca was not so good though, I think they were a little overcooked since it wasn't as chewy as it should've been and was a little bit mushy. Only reason why it isn't a 3 stars is because the staff on the phone the next day since I forgot to put my email for a receipt was very friendly and was able to send me my receipt.
Was visiting Chicago and wanted to grab some boba. The drinks were a bit overpriced but the boba and quality of drinks were good. Although I got 50% sweet I would say their drinks are on the sweet side. I really liked their strawberry orange green tea with crystal boba since it had a hint of tartness from the strawberry. The mango watermelon green tea was a bit sweet for my liking and I usually don't get brown boba with fresh milk but I tried it and it's definitely a well made classic. Overall, I loved how the drinks had real fruit in them and didn't taste artificially fruity. If you're visiting Chicago's Chinatown def stop by!
Sweet staff and extensive menu~ Happy I was able to try Uni-Uni since I had seen several of their shops throughout Chicago (guessing they're a local chain) It was really convenient too since Uni-Uni was right across from where I had dinner (MingHin) haha I ordered their Assam Milk Tea and they exceeded my expectations! Richer taste than a standard neighborhood shop but not quite like T% in Sacramento, but similar. Boba was on the chewier size (I visited right before closing) I like that they also offer 16oz... heheh for portion control Would love to come back and try their other drinks and snacks too!
What a convenient and yummy place to order boba and small bites. I wish there was a place to sit indoors and enjoy the drink but space I limited. I ordered the Uni milk Tea and it was great, not super sweet but I added Oreo cheese whipping cream and it was a game changer. The drink came out super fast and the staff was friendly. I noticed they had some onigiri, I would love to try them!
This is a cute little tea place, they had a lot on their menu so we decided to go and check them out. I ended up getting the strawberry orange jasmine green tea without the crystal boba. It tasted decent, and you could definitely taste the orange coming through. My fiance got the strawberry lemon jasmine green tea. His didn't really taste like much. The teas didn't seem to be mixed properly and the flavor was lacking on the strawberry lemon. That one tasted more like a severely watered down tea. I'd go again to try something different, but I don't think I'd try another fruit tea. You can order your drinks on a kiosk, so for us service was just simply picking the drinks up.
After having great experiences at two prior Uni Uni locations, I wanted to grab one last drink before heading out of Chicago. We were looking at the different locations and found this one that stocks a very cute bucket size drink. We couldn't resist and made a trip down to Chinatown. Milk Tea Bucket (1000cc), Yulu Oolong Tea, 50% Sugar, Regular Ice ($10.95) - This drink comes with your choice of three toppings, of which we went with 3x the boba! Just kidding, we only did 2x and also had the Jasmine Green Tea Jelly. Starting with the good - the drink itself is fantastic. Half sweet is perfect and allows the fragrance and aroma of the tea to intermingle with the cream without drowning anything out. The brown sugar tastes comes through on the tongue easily and doesn't cover up the roasted/toasty taste of the Oolong. Consistent with other locations, the regular ice level is just enough to cool the drink down to slightly above freezing temperatures before completely melting, all within a couple of minutes of receiving the drink. The Jasmine Jelly is nice, with a typical agar chew that adds additional texture to the drink. It floats to the top, making it an exercise to try to get pieces to suck up with the straw. Now onto the bad - the boba here is not good. The pearls are very inconsistent, with some that are nice and chewy, albeit a bit on the softer side, and others so overcooked/old that the teeth glides through them like butter. I feel like they definitely mixed different batches of boba together, which is a big faux pas in bubble tea. One other thing to mention - while the bucket itself is cute, with a snap on lid and a little handle to carry it around, there are several major issues. Firstly, it doesn't fit in a cupholder, so be prepared to hold the drink the entire time you are driving. Secondly, the lid leaks around the sides, especially around the pull tab on one side. Multiple times while driving, I had milk tea spilling all over my clothes and the car. Finally, the hole for the straw is right in the center of the lid and the bucket handle doesn't have enough clearance to go over the straw. If you have a straw inserted, you can't really tote the bucket around as a result. They really need to revisit the bucket and make some major design improvements. Milk Tea Rating: (5/5) Boba Rating: (1/5) The milk tea at this Uni Uni location is solid, but the boba is terrible. I recommend getting drinks here only with other toppings. Or just visit one of the other Uni Uni locations that has their act together. Note: There is a service fee for using the kiosk. Bathrooms - None
Good drinks, but service and ambiance fell short for me. As of April 2023, they're still pretty covid cautious. So they dont have any tables or chairs inside, and you will have to use the kiosks to order. When we had a few questions about the drinks, the workers weren't very welcoming or easy to talk to. Also, some of them did not speak English, so there were a few communication barriers. I feel like this is the standard of service for many places in the area, though... We got the lychee latte and the peach lychee jasmine green tea with the sweeteness adjusted down in both. I really liked the peach lychee jasmine green tea. It was very refreshing. Overall, I would come again if i was looking to get drinks to go.
The drinks here are very unique, very pretty. I loved the boba texture and the drinks were still really yummy. I didn't interact with the staff, since we used the kiosk to order our drinks. The inside has its own aesthetic, so it makes for great picture ops for the drinks.
Uni Uni is a great spot in Chinatown (and all across Chicago) to grab bubble tea and various sweet treats - now including authentic Filipino cookies called Sylvanas! I tried the ube flavor which I liked, but it was super soft (almost too soft for my taste) The real star of the show here is the fruit teas in my opinion - the Lychee Peach Jasmine Green Tea with lychee and mango jellies - I am obsessed with those star jellies The interior was a little small and not very clean, but the drinks made it worth it. Super quick service! We ordered at kiosks that made it really easy to check out. Follow @corrine_eats on IG for more food reviews & content!
Uni Uni bubble tea in Chinatown is a good place for milk tea enthusiasts. Conveniently, they offer delivery through Uber Eats, making it easy to enjoy their drinks from the comfort of your own home. My go-to is the Ancient brown sugar milk tea in a large size, with just 30% sweetness and light ice. They have a wide variety of toppings. My recent favorite is brown sugar tapioca lately. Absolutely recommend giving this place a try.
Cute cafe, quick service decent milk tea flavor we tried the Brown sugar and Lychee Jasmine Green Milk tea. You can order from the kiosk or in the counter. The only thing is the boba's in the cups were minimal, after a few sips, boba's gone already and I wasn't even halfway thru my drink. read more
Tasty teas! I enjoyed my drink that was made quickly and with precision. I asked for it to not be too sweet (30%) and it was perfect. I had some of the bursting boba and I really enjoyed that. The fruitiness was so good! It was refreshing. It was a little bit more pricey than I am used to, but I would still consider coming back. There are a ton of options in the area so that is something to consider. read more

They have self service or you can order with someone. The nice thing about the self service it gives you more time to work through the menu. They have a ton of different great options as well as some seating if you want to stay there to eat. I got the milk tea bubble tea with cheese foam - I highly recommend the cheese foam , it's great! Will definitely be back to try some other flavors. read more

First time here Cute little place in Chinatown brown sugar boba was okay not really sweet.. service was a little slow but I have to come back to try more on the menu read more
The drinks and food are good but not the best we've had. My Rose Latte with Milk Mochi was very sweet although I ordered zero sugar. The rose flavor was rich and nice and the mochi was yummy - just the sugar problem. My husband's Pu'er Tea Latte with Crystal Boba had the same experience/ issue - he ordered half sugar but still tasted pretty sweet. The Taiyaki was yummy but got pretty oily after a few mins. So if you order Taiyaki don't forget to finish it fast. read more
A newish boba shop has just made its way to Chicago Chinatown and I am here for the madness. For too long, people rely on the over sweetness of Joy Yee nearby, but you've got a spot like Uni Uni which delivers a far superior tea experience in my opinion. You've got a range of tea and flavor options with a focus beyond simple black or green tea. My friend and I ordered their Signature Milk Tea and their Yulu Oolong Milk Tea, less ice and 30$ sugar - both were fabulous and refreshing drinks where you could really taste the quality of the tea. Their boba here was super soft and are mixed with brown sugar, adding a bit more sweetness to your life. For non-dairy folx, you'll be happy to know that the creamer they use here is not whole milk so you can enjoy your milk teas as you would normally. Contactless ordering works like a charm here. You can order at the kiosk and make modifications, and your drink will be done before you know it. I also loved the wall decor and the unicorn theme they got going on. It made me feel like I was in a fantasy land while drinking my boba. read more

Fruit tea ($6.75) was on the sweeter side even with 30% sugar. Boba was too soft There were quite a lot of fresh fruit so you don't get that much tea tbh read more

Hi Serlina,…
Ambiance: Cute spot to grab bubble tea! Love the wall and photo-op. Would be even better with more seating options. Service: Fast and friendly. Drinks: I ordered the Oolong Milk tea. To be honest I haven't tried an oolong milk tea that I didn't like, so this was on par with the others! I should try more creative flavors and this seems like a good place to try that for next time! There's always a line so it must be good. read more

A cute little stop at the end of the Chinatown row. Fairly new and when you walk in there's a wall with the cutest art and when dine-in is back, it looks like they have a photobooth area set-up which is fun! There is a barricade between customers and staff and there are stickers on the floor to enforce social distancing. All staff and patrons are asked or are wearing masks. I tried the taro fresh milk tea (can only be cold) and it was fresh taro! Half sugar and less nice, and it had the perfect level of sweetness. I really loved the thickness of the taro blending in with the milk! Delicious. It was a cold snowy day so I was also looking for a warm drink which was the Yulu Oolong Milk Tea, half sugar. It tasted great! The boba had a nice chewy bite to them and not too soggy or sweet as well. I'm still waiting for a boba place in town to have the mini boba! This is my personal PSA that those are my fav! read more

Went here recently to try their newest Monet Series smoothies! They had 4 new flavor blends to try, we got the Impression Sunrise--coconut based smoothie with Spirulina powder and mango purée--and their Green Fields--avocado smoothies with fresh avocado purée! Both were so refreshing and light in sweetness, which my husband and I are a fan of, bc sometimes we'll get smoothies that are just way too overly sweet and artificial. But these were delicious! Also love how these are dairy free and caffeine free! Love how these definitely hit that sweet tooth craving, yet it's a healthy treat! read more

A fun option for drinks in Chinatown (where there is no lack of bubble tea and other beverage emporiums). I'm still not clear on what "cloud cream" is. Is it just whipped cream? In one part of the menu it said "coconut cloud cream," so is it whipped coconut cream? A friend (who is lactose sensitive) asked a staff member about it and the girl just replied, "That's just the name." Hmm.... Anyway, all the stuff we got (blue sky lemonade with cloud cream, taro smoothie, banana smootbie and oreo smoothie with cloud cream) were enjoyed by those who selected the items. The menu is huge so perhaps plan ahead, and maybe look up items like "cheese foam" etc. if you aren't familiar with them since staff don't really seem interested in explaining. Then take a selfie with your drink and the adorable unicorn mural! read more

Was walking around Chinatown and decided to try their bubble tea. Got their Pu'er milk tea with milk mochi. Love the taste of their milk mochi. Taste a little like the white rabbit milk candy I had growing up. Taste of Pu'er isn't as strong as I would like. But love their effort and details on their cup design. Lid were made for each individual drink, making it easy to use and giving the best drinking experience. read more

This was Perfect on a hot summer day! We were walking down the main stretch of Chinatown and I kept seeing So many people have the fun cups in hand and I had to find it. Thankfully a friend did and we got the Jasmine tea with orange and strawberry with crystal boba and I swear I could have had 3 more. I definitely suggest 30% sugar (it's an option on the second screen) or Less because even that is Sweet!! read more
This place will definitely my second option besides Joyyee. I ordered delivery through GrubHub. Delivery came on time and well packed! Taste - The oolong milk tea was strong. Which was good since a lot of tea places like to tone down the tea. Me on the other hand? I love caffeine so I'll take it. I also ordered a strawberry smoothie for my son. Which he claimed as the best smoothie in the Chinatown. Price - I think price wise is okay. All of these tea places have the same price range. Overall, not bad and will definitely be ordering from Uni Uni again read more
Tried out a new bubble tea place in Chinatown and once again, it hit the spot. Although, I want a huge fan of their unique fresh fruit flavors (too perfumey for me), the milk tea was great. They also have pretty quick service and an adorable, Instagram worthy interior. Ft. Soy Milk Foam Black Tea Latte with Soy Milk Pudding (I was pleasantly surprised with the vegan option but next time I would swap the milk pudding for boba) read more

I've tried a lot of boba in my life and unfortunately uni uni did not make the approved list. I was really excited to try it since it looked cute and there was a huge line for it. I ordered the taro fresh milk and it literally just tasted like plain milk. I tried my friends brown sugar milk tea at 100% sweetness and it was so bitter that you wouldn't believe there was sugar in it. I'm not sure if the quality is like this for the rest of these stores but I'd most likely not go back after this one experience. read more
Ordered some drinks for delivery and was very pleased with how everything was packaged for a spill proof delivery. Both drinks we ordered looked and tasted great. It was nice that the amount of ice and sugar could be customized. We had the Soy Milk Foam Black Tea Latte with Soy Milk Pudding. I added brown sugar tapioca. We also ordered the Uni Signature Milk Tea plus tapioca and cheese foam. Very happy with both drinks. Drink prices are competitive with other boba places. Can't wait to stop in when we are nearby. read more

I absolutely loveddd this place. I went here during their grand opening (yes I am writing this review extremely late) while dropping in on Chinatown for some orange chicken. Of course I saw unicorns and nearly jumped outta my seat in excitement. The line was short. I was greeted at least three times before evening reaching the counter. (I am not complaining lol. I love it) When I reached the counter, I was given a coupon offer for a free topping. I didn't know what I wanted so the sweet young lady at the counter quickly offered some suggestions. I chose a fruit drink instead of going with bubble tea. With my Receipt I was given a bubble tea cup holder. Reusable too! The cutest little thing and it came with a straw holder. The drink came fast and was quite delicious. All this while following in line with covid restrictions and laws. I felt safe and comfortable. While sitting to drink with my friends, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his mother. It was her idea to make the cloth cup holders. This is their second business opening and they were proud of it. If I ever go that route I will always stop by for a quick drink. read more
