Dinner wasn't horrible. We got takeout. The Japanese curry tasted like Thai curry. The pad thai was slightly off (didn't use the normal rice stick noodles). Taste was a bit off too. The avocado sushi was fresh. The chicken teriyaki was not bad. read more

Just went in for lunch passing by on the 5. Just a daily special tempura crab, mango and salmon roll. Very good roll though. Had the Japanese soda my daughter loves! And the gross crèche was roll she always gets. Definitely want to back and get the Ramon, look legit! Excellent! We had a fantastic meal at Umami. In fact, some of the best sushi I've ever had! The Salt and Pepper Calamari is the best I've ever had. The Crunchy Tiger Hidden Dragon Roll is awesome and so is the Hawaiian roll. Our server Rochana was absolutely amazing and she is a wealth of knowledge about sushi - and Ashland. Heard about this place from my neighbor's friend and thought we should check it out since she says the pho is really good. We got there and lots of seating. Not too crowded since we came after 2:30pm. We ordered a few things and got my pho. It was very tasty and good. Not like back home though. The nigiri was also good and so was the dynamite. The sashimi salad was pretty good, it was tuna and salmon sashimi (if I recall correctly) with cucumbers and lettuce. I wish I knew the name of the woman who answered the phone to take our order. We had so many questions and she was not only patient but sounded so energetic and happy. She didn't seem to get annoyed and didn't rush us. The food was made in a timely fashion and was actually good ! I'm glad we found this place. Wish I had taken pictures of the food. I had Mongolian beef with rice and my husband had to same but also had some sushi (can't remember exactly what kind). The food is simply amazing. We eat here every time we're in town and always comment how we wish they were in our hometown. They have so many interesting choices. They put together unexpected combinations (avocado and peanut roll - yummy!), and the freshest ingredients (the yellowtail jalapeño was perfection). Some of the worst service I have ever had. Nobody clearly cares. I've seen two tables leave because servers have not came to talk talk to them. I watched my deep fried roll sit on the sushi bar for 10 minutes and get cold and the chefs just stood there looking at it despite the servers clearly being busy or just not paying attention and me sitting 5 feet away from them. We moved to Ashland OR a little over two years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area. We love it, with one exception, the Chinese food scene is abysmal in the Rogue Valley. If you're ever in San Francisco, stop in at Henry's Hunan restaurant on Sacramento Street. It's a hole in the wall cafe that has the best szechuan ever. I've been searching in vain for a Henry's replacement since we moved here and I've come to the conclusion that it's just not going to happen. There's just not a restaurant with multiple dishes that even comes close. And then today. Oh today my wife and I went to Umami Sushi and Asian Cusine just off the plaza next to Harvey's place. Two words for you "Mongolian Beef." Mongolian beef is my test dish for any new restaurant and they had it on the menu and it was an 8 out of 10 on the Henry's scale. So, so good I'm such a happy camper today. My record at Henry's was five lunches in a row, I don't think I'll break that here but the thought has crossed my mind. They also had the best shrimp and vegetable tempura I've had since moving here. Give this place a try. read more

Tonkatsu Ramen and Phad Thai both awful and inedible (went straight to the garbage can) The ramen was a mix of insta ramen with a weak broth (water down ) and very few thin slices of what someone might call pork. No taste at all ! Phad Thai was a disaster, t was basically noodles with Italian marinara sauce from a can and few old pieces of sea food. Two bites and straight to the garbage can. There you have it: An absolute waste of time and money. Never coming back BTW. Cleanliness was missing in action, just need to enter the restaurant and look at the door, the floor or the little black stand where people are supposed to be greeted and wait for a table.
