We tried the ramen, deep fried pot stickers, a sushi roll, and the banana caramel dessert. The pot stickers were the standout, crispy and flavorful. The sushi roll did not match what was listed on the menu, and the dessert was not very good. The staff also did not seem to know the menu and asked us to look up the item ourselves. Overall, an okay experience with one clear highlight.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($18)

Tasty food but minimal portions and slightly expensive! I enjoyed my Spicy Tonkotsu ramen (it was $1 extra to make it spicy). The broth was creamy, savory, and delicious. I was able to clear the entire bowl, broth and all. I do feel like it was a bit expensive for what it was and I wasn't too full by the end. Tried a bite of the Japanese curry as well; tasty but nothing in particularly special. Again, not the biggest portion for the price. Our waiter was so so nice and enthusiastic while serving us. I've never seen someone look so happy doing their job. The place itself was very cozy and small, very quiet as well. An overall good spot, wish I had more stuff to say about the sushi!

Sashimi plate with 10 pieces ... maybe a little too much cuke, but the fish itself was fresh and tasty!

Been coming to this location since 2002, although I am sure ownership has changed many times since then. Finally leaving a review! First, the ambience is bare bones now. It used to be a little fancier and nicer, and now it's just basic. That's the reason for the one-star deduction; it just feels cheap. However, the food is enjoyable and always has been. This visit we ordered the seared ahi tuna salad, and the dressing was standout amazing. Also ordered a sashimi plate and a tempura banana (for dessert). Everything was pretty enjoyable, including the steamed gyoza and shrimp tempura. The service was good, too, which always is pleasant. Glad I finally left a review after 23.5 years!!

It was my last night in Ashland and I wanted to try something new. Some of my friends had eaten here last year, so I thought I'd give it a try. The place is larger than it looks, and I was given a nice table toward the back. I ordered an eel roll, the chicken katsu appetizer (no karaage), and a tonkatsu ramen. The eel roll was really good! The ramen had a really good broth, and I dunked my katsu in it which is what I do with karaage. I also ordered a nice cold Sapporo to wash everything down. The service was really friendly and all the other workers were great as well! The funniest thing was the Jessica Alba-core roll. Had to chuckle about that!Definitely worth checking out!

My husband got to try blue fin sashimi.

The moment we walked in the door we were greeted joyfully and welcomed in. Each of the staff members were so kind and lovely. Best service we've had ever! We will definitely go back!

This place is so amazing! I would %100 recommend, it is now my favorite restaurant

The service was amazing and the food was to die for!! Very authentic and delicious... i have absolute no complaints. Very chill and relaxing vibe in here.

I love this place and so sorry to read some of the OLD negative reviews. The service is quick, personal and professional. The chef is quick to engage with you if requested. The fish is fresh each day. I go there alone and the ambiance is welcoming and warm

Yellowtail scallion roll

I ended up here after looking around the area for a dinner spot. There weren't too many people inside on a Saturday night and we were able to get seated immediately. I got the seaweed salad as well as a yellowtail scallion roll. The seaweed salad was surprisingly really good and sat on top of a bed of salad, so I appreciated the extra veggies. I was pretty surprised by how many pieces of the yellowtail scallion roll there were -- they were small, but nonetheless still pretty good. The fish tasted fresh and the rice was also nicely seasoned. Nothing mindblowing, but still good nonetheless!

The broth for the tenkatsu ramen is really good and the noodles were on point. I think the bowl could use some more pork-- I only had two small slices. The other toppings were fine. The egg and bamboo shoots are good. And although using corn and arugula isn't my favorite it did seem to work. We also had a katsu which was what I expect--good but a little dry. We had one vegetable sushi roll, which was actually really good. I look forward to going back for more.

My favorite sushi spot in Ashland, I tried them all. Great cocktails, I'd stick to the sushi thats the star. Amazing service, I felt invited and well received being melanated IYKYK. I will def be back! Our waitress was fantastic.

Chicken Katsu Curry

I hear the sushi is great, however... I haven't been able to get past the Katsu Curry! Only place probably within 300 miles of the Rogue Valley to get authentic Japanese Curry! You can actually taste the butter from the roux they make to tighten it up! Comparable to Coco Curry in Japan!

Salmon belly... get this!

I walked in and a staff member looked at me and continued with whatever he was doing in the kitchen area which is right to the right of where you walk in. I moved closer to the cash register and this staff member and I said "Table for 1 please". Then, he grabbed a menu and seated me. I would say the restaurant was 25% occupied. There seemed to be three staff members: One cooking, the guy who seated me, and then a lady taking orders and checking on people. I sat there and sat there watching others get seated, their orders taken, and then others receiving their food. Finally I walked up to the lady who was standing near the cash register and I said, "I've never been here so I don't know how this works so do I come up here and put in my order?". She said "Oh are you ready?". I put my order in and sat back down at my table. Shortly afterwards, my drunken noodles order came out and it was delicious. This review got two stars because the food was good. The service was terrible. I think maybe the lady checked on me once during my meal? I don't know why I got this treatment and maybe it was because I was a solo traveler but I have never been treated like this before even though I have solo traveled for years. I usually always leave a good tip too as a solo traveler but to be completely ignored was not good service. I even had to go up to the cash register to ask for my check when I saw the check being delivered to other tables. Great food but if you want the whole pleasant dining experience, skip Sawaddee and find a different Thai restaurant.

My co-workers and I were in town for work and were thoroughly impress at how fresh their sushi tasted. For starters, we had their lobster tempura, yellowtail carpaccio, Sunshine roll. and edamame. I probably would have preferred their regular tempura, but their yellowtail carpaccio was delicious. Another standout was their sunshine roll. For main entree, we each ordered a sashimi/nigiri set. Their selection of nigiri fishes were standard but good. As for dessert, we had shared their creme brulee which was perfect to end our meal.

In the rolls, the chef had an ability to pair ingredients that emphasized texture, all the while working in excellent flavors. The darru and surf and turf rolls were a highlight. The sea urchin roll was out-of-this-world, like a bite of delicious ocean. Starting with the wagyu sliders was a great contrast to the cold sushi dishes. Fatty beef, seared, with salty seasoning and pickles. Excellent! The service was struggling the night we went. They held us up at the bar 20 minutes past our reservation time. They only seated us because we gave up on waiting for an outdoor table. It then took 20 minutes to meet the server and order, and another 45 minutes to start eating. Ultimately the food exceeded the flaccid service. I will be back, but not on a night when I'm in a hurry.

All you care about are intense, rich flavors drawn out of the pork bones with a jab of salty/umami greatness right in the jaw. This place didn't make the cut. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with pork. The noodles were good and the slice of pork was tasty, albeit briefly (small portion). The broth unfortunately was watery, bland, generically creamy, and not well-seasoned. The menu had plenty of Korean options. The galbi appetizer was the highlight of the meal. The seared rib meat was deliciously caramelized, gingery, and hot, right off the grill. Overall I am not excited to go back because, like I said, if you want to be a hole in the wall, the food needs to be a slam dunk. I'm appreciative to have this option locally, but it didn't knock my socks off.
