I had the most amazing meal here. There were 12 courses and every single course exceeded my expectations. There were some unique combinations that I have never experienced before, like smoked eggplant and toasted white chocolate, or strawberry and caviar, but they worked surprisingly well together. They only have one seating for lunch and one for dinner. They time all the dishes for all the tables together. The menu is all seafood and vegetables. I don't think they allow substitutions, but I enjoyed everything that I never even bothered to tell them if I had any food aversions. This may be my favorite restaurant in Barcelona, or maybe ever.

Excelente atención y una verdadera experiencia gastronómica con cada creación del Chef Iker Irauzkin. La combinación de sabores y texturas en cada platillo es única y el maridaje muy acorde. Hay que volver!! Excellent experience in each offer. Combination of flavors and textures with perfect pairing. Five stars, we'll be back

4.5 stars! My party of four was lucky to book a couple of days before coming here. We came here for lunch back in May 2018 and fell in love. You are warmly greeted by one of the server. Then seated, and she will ask if you want their wine tasting combo or any preferred drinks. We unfortunately don't really drink, so we opted for water (Note: like everywhere else in Barcelona, water is bottled. So you have to pay for each bottle that you drink) Chef and his su chefs cooks in a semi-open kitchen so you can see the magic happening. Food was served in little small bite size pieces. I believed we were served 12-13 dishes including dessert. I'm from America, and we like our food pretty salty over here was well, but there's something about Barcelona's food that's even saltier. Hence, the -.5 star if I could. The salt quality here tastes amazing, but it was way too salty for my taste buds. Each time I saw a salt crystal, I would remove it instantly. Nevertheless, it was an exceptional tasting experience. Will most definitely come back again when I get the chance!

My wife and I went into Uma with high expectations based on reviews around the web, and not only were our expectations met, they were exceeded in every way! The experience was absolutely amazing, from the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out. The menu is a set 12 course tasting menu, with one booking at dinner and one at lunch, so be prepared to book well in advance. We were greeted right away as we walked in, and escorted to our table. Each table is well situated from the others to give you a sense of some privacy making conversations easy. As soon as all of the guests for the night were checked in, the course started coming out. Each course was well explained, and well timed. The corresponding wine pairing was probably the best we have had at any restaurant, and was well worth the additional cost. Each course was something new, delicious and exciting - there was not a course we felt let down on, or fell flat. From one course to the next, each built on the previous, and then culminated in some wonderful desserts. A couple of our favorites were the scallops, lobster and suckling pig dishes, but each dish gave us something new, exciting and memorable. The decor is simple, comfortably elegant, spacious, warm and inviting. The service was outstanding - attentive, fun, exceeding polite and well versed in the nights menu. Uma is a restaurant you go out of your way for, and is a must stop while in Barcelona. It also may be the one of the best values we have ever seen for this high of quality, from the food to the service.

Just returned from Uma having had the best lunch in my life. Uma is a true gem. It beats almost all the Michelin starred restaurants (including Michelin 3s) in NYC/SF. Chef Iker is humble and a culinary genius, Anna was very warm making my lunch experience truly exceptional. Pre-courses: -Chip with little fish and caviar paired with a citrus drink -Chopped oysters on a piece of crispy vegetable toast Main courses: -Yam chip with shell fish and jello -Stone fish with green apple broth topped with cream flowers (my fav of all dishes; best stone fish I've ever had with so much flavor and the green apple broth just goes so well with the fish) -Cotton candy with chicken floss (you wouldn't think this is good, but it is!), paired with egg yolk over-easy in mushroom sauce topped with black truffle -Asian dumpling in Thai lemongrass broth, topped with fresh lemongrass -Eel with seasonal snow pea in squid ink broth (Anna told me it's a special type of snow pea that's only available certain times of the year). The snow peas are so sweet and juicy and eel very tender -Suckling pig. Outside is crisp while inside is tender. Very flavorful and big portion Desserts: -Berries in gelatin and cream topped with rose petals. Such wonderful flavor and the rose petals intensify the aroma of the berries -Chocolate bomb topped with coffee ice cream and nitrogen-frozen milk chocolate bits (taste like those milk chocolate balls) -Frozen cherry lollipop in lady-shape (somewhat provocative but interesting) Oh did I mention I had the best white wine IN MY LIFE here for a very reasonable price, and finished my meal off with a orange liquor that's made over the course of eight years? Just sensational.

A truly exquisite meal in a warm elegant restaurant. The chef and his wife both provide excellence in service and creative foods. No menu. The degustation menu changes ever few days. Outstanding!

Beautiful, elegant space with enough space between tables to make the experience feel almost private!

Why doesn't UMA have a #Michelin star - or two - yet?!? My husband and I travel extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the US and South America and have eaten at plenty of 2 (and a few 3) star Michelin's that didn't top the food and experience at UMA. Uber-talented chef who is very creative but keeps the food delicious (unlike some places that have gone so high-concept they've left the palate behind!) Very interesting and quirky wine pairing. Fantastic service and explanation. There are only a handful of tables and everyone receives the surprise tasting menu at the same time, allowing them to be creative and responsive to what the market brings each day. Vegetarian options if noted in advance. A few signature dishes which were fantastic and they say are usually repeated. The chef came by the table twice and you can see him work his magic from any spot in the room. Great spacing between tables which the sommelier (and chef's wife) said was standard even before Covid. This is the dream restaurant experience created by two brilliantly talented people who are doing everything right to deliver a unique experience with fantastic food and wine! Tasting is 110 euros. It easily could have been 2-3 x that! Probably the BEST value high-end experience I've had anywhere in the world! This is a DONT MISS!

It's true, best lunch you've ever had. Gorgeous plating, beautiful decor, amazing service. I sound like a fan girl but it really was that good.

There's a huge number of playful and delicious dishes that clearly reflect the chef's intention of hosting a fun place for diners to enjoy themselves. The foie gras cotton candy atop a secretly-hollowed stone filled with mushrooms in hot broth is an especially creative interpretation of clouds above earth. The space is beautiful and the open kitchen allows diners to see the chef make everything, including the liquid nitrogen granita that fills the area with smoke. Thanks Chef for the great meal and for being so nice/engaging with the diners too! There are only 12 seats but it's well worth it to try and snag a spot!

I had one of the best dinners of my life at Uma and I have to say they are high class all the way, even more so that some Michelin star restaurants. Not to miss if you are in Barcelona. No need to write more, I will let the photos I took do the talking.

Better late then ever on the best meal I had during my Europe trip. I wanted to wait till after my stay in Italy and France before writing this review. Like many reviewer I 100% appreciate the creativity each dish has to offer. The chef put a lot of thought into the presentation, precession of each dish, design of the venue and of course the flavor of each course. With only 12 guest sitting in 5 tables, the chef was able to really create an intimate and relax setting for us to enjoy the meal. He was able to stop by each table to chat and really put on a great show preparing each course (there were 12) with his sue chef in the open kitchen. Each dish was beautifully plated and presented on the table like works of art. Eating at Uma is truly an experience that everyone should try. I am so glad my boyfriend and I were able to make the reservation months before our trip to Barcelona. The next time we return to the city Uma will definitely be on the top of our places to visit.

We had planned to go to a tapas place recommended by our Gaudi House tour guide (Touring Pandas…read moreguide Jekaterina who was EXCELLENT) but the joint had a line of 20+...so we chose to go to my plan B! We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. La Alcoba Azul is a spot we'll keep on our tapas go to list! You shouldn't hesitate to visit.

It is tight inside, and we were tucked into the back room, but in a cozy way. Service is slow in that classic European way, not sad slow, but the kind of slow that reminds you to savor the moment because you are on vacation. The menu descriptions were a little vague, so we took a few stabs in the dark. The eggplant dish we ordered ended up being my favorite, and the hummus with lamb was also very good. I usually love olives, but these did not hit for me. They were a bit too dry and firm, so buyer beware if you are picky about olives. All in all, a charming spot for a romantic vacation dinner.

Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering. We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that. Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite. Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu. What we ate: Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer. Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting. Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari. Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite. Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing!
