Aged beef, giant steak for two, red wine, low lighting in the dining room back by the kitchen. It was a little warm in the back, but it was tolerable. We ordered a salad, refreshing and crisp, and they brought out some complimentary chorizo bites. The steak was fantastic, it is automatically cooked as the chef recommends, unless you request otherwise (you won't be asked). How the chef prepared it (between rare and medium rare) was fine with us, we are OK with a good sear and red center, but if you like it closer to medium, you may find this to be too rare and should request a longer cook. Seasoned only with salt, the strong flavor of the beef really comes through. We hardly touched the potato wedges, we were so focused on the beef. Wine prices were shockingly good! This was great for a carnivorous treat.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! A TOTAL TOURIST SCAM AND DAYLIGHT ROBBERY! Our experience at this establishment was nothing short of an absolute nightmare. When a friend in our group asked to try their fish, the waitress suggested the sea bream, without informing us of the market price and weight of the fish served. We saw an outrageous 163.8 euros for a single fish(see photo) when the bill came. Most of their dishes are in the 20-30 euro range, making this charge completely unjustifiable and a blatant ripoff. When we questioned the price, we were told that the weight of the fish was based on the total headcount of the table(3 people), but only 1 person in our party wanted to order the fish. We were blind-sighted from the beginning and felt tricked into this situation. It's clear they target tourists deliberately, knowing we were short on time and unable to argue as we had to rush off to a show. Their predatory practices left us feeling exploited, humiliated, and furious. This wasn't just poor service--it was outright fraud. This horrific experience has ruined the reputation of Sagardi Group and our impression of Barcelona. Instead of enjoying the city's famed hospitality, we left feeling scammed and disrespected. Such establishments have no place in a city that thrives on tourism. We are formally filing complaints with Sagardi group, Síndic de Greuges de Catalunya and the Directorate General for Tourism of Catalonia to ensure that others do not fall victim to this blatant exploitation. Save your wallet, your time, and your sanity--go somewhere else! Let's hold places like this accountable for their deceptive practices!

Great food & ambience. Went in 2024 and had a great meal, their service was excellent!

Kind of pricey for what we ate.

Well they advertise nice looking steak.. So I thought I give it a try.. Went around 6:30 pm only to find out they don't serve dinner until 8pm.. Lame.. Only pre-made tappas. Gave it a try.. No name or description on what they are.. They charge you by the stick. 11 sticks vermuth and water was 34.75 euro.. Vermuth was pretty good. Maybe 2 or 3 out of the tappas were tasty and other was meh... Sardine was definitely way too fishy for me to eat.. Ended up taking a bite and saying oh hell no and spit it out I was disappointed not to be able to try steak and over mediocre tappas and not cheap price left me hungry and annoyed.. Maybe if I ever decided to come here for steak again I might change the review but for now it's a 3 star.

This place was recommended by a local. You get any of the tapas and at the end they count it by the toothpick and you pay per toothpick. They were all laid out at the bar, they had plenty of veggie and meat options. The staff was nice and patient with all ingredients related questions. They also have a full menu with meats you can order from. Great option to start your night or for a few drinks.

Fresh food and delicious drinks! Fabulous atmosphere in the Mercado. We sat at the bar and watched all the action in the kitchen. The staff was so kind.

Wow! This is a steakhouse, amazing beef and plenty of tapas. We loved the beef and their cooking style was amazing.

Simple green salad and croquettes

We expected to have a great experience, the service was good but the food fell short. We started off with a simple salad which actually was very tasty. The ham croquettes were not very good. The meat is what I thought they specialized in was not good at all. I'm not sure what part of the cow they used but the steak was tough and not flavorful. For $80euros, I expected much more! The side of potatoes were mediocre. It was the most disappointing dinner we had in the 2 weeks we were in Europe. The restaurant is very cute though.

Pintxo hambuger.
Menoula S.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. And we are glad they did. Nice location in the Gothic area, plenty of seating. We started out with some Pintxos, ready made on the counter. The wait staff kept passing around hot pintxos too, so our consumption went up on those! All good. We then ordered the artichoke from the menu and the tiny little fried fishies that were on special. Cava to drink and the night was great!

Dry Aged blonde Galician beef
Ludo R.

We had a memorable experience. The Blonde Dry-Aged Galician beef was delicious. The meat has almost no funk if you aren't into that. I personally enjoy the blue cheese, nutty, rich scents of long aging, but that's not the choice they made with this restaurant. Valentine advised us very well on the menu, wines and whatever we needed. Overall the service was great and attentive. The ambience within the restaurant is reasonably intimate. I would happily go back.

Cheesecake for desert. Amazing!

What can I say? This place is exceptional. Their appetizers served throughout the evening, are a la cart and are delicious. Too many to mention, but you can take look and pick what you like. Amazing quality and flavors. Now for the main course: my premium aged steak was the best I have ever had! Charred and medium rare. Every gram of the 600 gram steak was absolutely delicious. PERFECTION! And the service was impeccable. The best we have had in Spain so far. Our server Berni was a super star with a smile. Loved the experience.

Tapas galore + delicious vermouth
Ashlee B.

Awesome. After hearing about traditional Basque style tapas all trip, we were eager to try this place out on our last night in town and it did not disappoint! So many options. You're able to just walk around and pick whichever tapas you like from atop the display case. Servers also frequently walk around with platters of hot tapas and you can take those as you choose as well. Between my boyfriend and I, we tried close to 20 different tapas and there wasn't a single one I didn't care for. Some favorites were the smoked salmon, the shrimp wrapped in bacon, and the jamon. We washed everything down with Yzaguirre red vermouth which was delicious. When it comes time to pay, they count up the number of toothpicks on your plate and charge you based on that. It was an amazing experience to have freedom to try so many different tapas without feeling like you're annoying a waiter by constantly ordering more, and I think we were able to be a bit more adventurous and choose things we wouldn't normally try since we would only be out 2 euro if we didn't care for it.

We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me.
