No one working in the high end cosmetics area, where all talking at the Mac cosmetics area ignoring me. Sad place to go. I will definitely be going to there other location now. My grandmother and I made a visit to this store. Had to wait at least two minutes to go in due to the store being at capacity which is fine, the girl at the door was nice and greeted us when we got there. She also held a conversation with us while we waited. I had a question to ask a girl on the floor and she helped with no problem. The girl at the checkout told me about the makeup I picked out and gave me tips. I will be back to this location. read more

I went to Ulta Salon on Monday, 08/25/2014 and my service was decent, definitely did not meet my expectations however; There was only 2 ladies in the salon, the lady that was doing my hair kept having to stop to answer the phones and help other clients. My haircut was okay, better than the last one I had done at Ulta At Alliance Town Center. That experience is a whole nother story, it was horrible. Back to what I was saying, I had gotten a haircut and straightening treatment (what I thought was a straightening treatment at least), when the lady had gotten done with my treatment, my hair was straight. I go home don't wash it for 24 hours like I was advised, after washing it, my hair was back curly in most places but straight in other parts. Whenever I called to tell them to explain what had happened, the lady on the phone told me, they don't have a straightening treatment they however have a "kerastraight" but it is not to straighten the hair, it is to do nothing more than make the hair less frizzy. That they weren't going to do anything about it because that was what the treatment was supposed to do. I'm terribly unhappy, I am a college student so I don't have the money to just throw away for nothing. This will be my last experience for me to get my hair done at Ulta Salon. I love Ulta, don't get me wrong, the store is fantastic and the products are wonderful. But recently they have been careless about their customers. I walk around Ulta waiting for service, and no one is around to assist me, and if there are workers around, they don't even bother ASKING me if I need help. When they finally notice me, they are rude and useless. I dislike the workers that work at this location. Never color your hair at this Ulta Salon! Here's why: After seeing all the mixed reviews this salon gets, I decided to give it a try. I walked in on May 28th and asked the salon worker, that was at the register, to tell me how to make an appointment and what days the salon had openings. Well, she never really told me anything, except to "just make an appointment with her now"... So i did. She scheduled me for May 29th. And left the store. I came in on May 29th and saw that there were only 2 workers working, one was with a client and the other was not. I waited to be checked in for quite sometime. When the lady that didn't have a client finally noticed me, she checked me in and placed me on the salon chair. She asked me what I wanted and i said "ombre/balayage" and showed her a picture of what I wanted the outcome to look like or be similar to. She said that she could do it. So she began...she took me to the sink where I was told that she was going to strip the color out of my hair from the previous dye and when she puts the product on, it was going to burn or itch my head. I got really nervous. As she did this process, my head was on fire. I felt like my scalp was melting off for 10 minutes. After the horrible wait and process, she rinsed my hair and took me back to the chair. She started applying bleach and dye to my WET hair... I didn't understand why she didn't blow dry my hair first, then put on the bleach? But as she began putting the bleach on my hair, she put it DIRECTLY on my scalp and it burned so bad!! Anyways, after she was finished doing my so called "ombre/balayage", she put me under the heat for about 30 minutes so she could go eat... After the 30 minutes were over, she rinsed my hair and took me back to the chair, where she then blow dried my hair.. I didn't want to look so she turned me to the side, so i couldn't see the end result becauseIi was so excited! When she finished, she turned me towards the mirror, and I was HORRIFIED! My hair looked nothing like the picture or what I was expecting. It was brassy, dried out, and worst of all, ORANGE. Even my hairdresser said it was orange and she couldn't do anything about it, then left to go get my bill. She came back and tried to reschedule me for my next appointment and I flat out told her "I will not be coming back", and walked off to go pay. I was embarrassed and afraid to go anywhere, after leaving the store. The next day, I decided that I wanted a refund. So I called Ulta and told the first lady that picked up, "I want to speak to a manager." And she told me to wait while she transfers my call. I was waiting for a good 10 minutes before the manager responded. As I'm complaining and asking questions, all she could say was "I'm sorry, I don't know what to say" "I'll call you later as soon as I get a hold of the salon manager, another day". I agreed to do this, and gave her my number. That was the end of it. Five days go by and I haven't heard back from the manager. So I called the store again and asked to speak to another manager, luckily the lady who picked up first this time was one of the managers. I told her about the situation and complained about the other manager. She helped me so much...Long story short, I got a refund and a 30% off discount on my next salon visit. I haven't visited this Ulta store or the salon ever since. I would not recommend this place to anyone, no matter how "inexpensive" or "great" people say they are. This review is for the Hair Salon only, it in no way reflects on the service in the retail store. With that being said here is my honest review from my experience with Mandy last night and this morning. It is long.....I booked a haircut online for 4:30 with Mandy. I received 3 voicemails within 12 hours asking if I needed to reschedule my appointment. I called her back and she asked if I could come in at 3 instead, I explained that no I worked until 4. She said ok she would make it work. I got there at 4:15, we sat down, we talked about what I wanted, I wanted a '70's "shag" style hair cut. She replied a layer cut ? I said yes. I had a reference photo, I told her I know my hair wouldn't do that exactly, but that kinda shaggy look. Mandy asked if I wanted it OVER the ears, I said no please not over the ears. She washed, massaged, offered a deep conditioning, she also asked if I wanted to have my roots touched up or a gloss added. She was very nice. She cut, she used the product, she blow-dried.....I looked a little like Christopher Walken with it straight back! . She shaved around the neckline. She texturized it and did some piecing with more product. It was nothing like a shag but ok, it looked "ok". I went home and I took a shower......that is when I found I had two different hair cuts. The right side went over my ear with wispy things to my ear lob, the back, behind my ear stood straight out. The left side was a shag in the true sense, it was below my ear...the back was a neck line and cut close to my head. I have never cried over a haircut in 54 years...I did last night! I ugly cried! Today is my mother's birthday and in the morning is my best friends bridal shower. I called Ulta. No one could help me. After many tears and a lot of yelling, someone named Mae said to come in this morning and they would try and fix it. Mandy was mad when I got there. She stated yes it looked bad because I had not styled it. I tried to explain it should not have to be styled to be even AND THE SAME HAIRCUT ON BOTH SIDES. She put her hands on her hips and said just tell me where you want it short and where you want it long. I said I just want it even. Someone who they said was the manager came and stood there while Mandy chopped on the left side and the back of the right side. I left in tears. I can not wear a bag on head today or tomorrow. I have never been to an Ulta Salon before. I will never trust them again. I am hoping that others have not experienced what I did and it was just a one off. Mandy was very very nice yesterday. I stopped in today to pick up some mascara, because I didn't feel like going into the mall to go to Sephora for 1 item. I waited in line for what seemed like forever to pay, only to encounter the rudest salesperson ever! It's bad enough you have to play a game of 20 questions, just to pay for your items, but when I told her I would rather not sign up for their loyalty program, my items were literally thrown into a bag and then pushed across the counter to me with not another word spoken. I visited this store location to get a makeup application and a formal hairstyle for a wedding. I cannot express enough how unsatisfied I was with my makeup service. Essentially, my make up could have been done better by myself. The associate who assisted me obviously did not know what she was doing or she just didn't care. My makeup looked like a 5 year old girl had done it. My foundation was way too dark even after I told her that my skin was not that dark. My eyeliner was absolutely horrendous, it wasn't even a fully connected line. Every time she asked me to look in the mirror, I almost wanted to cry. I was running out of time and I didn't not achieve the look that $100 pays for. I don't understand how or why she thought it looked good. I was fuming by the time I made it to the register but due to me being a decent human being, I still tipped her and my hairstylist (I mainly wanted the tip to go to the stylist, I really liked her). I literally took my makeup off once I made it to the car and I had to go home and redo it. I am not one to complain or make a fuss (hints why I never said anything to the associate, I'm just not like that) but I was so disappointed that I made a yelp just to be able to speak my mind. I also went in for a Formal Style. The associate I had was wonderful. I may not have got my acheived look but she tried and showed that she cared. There was a big difference. The style I was trying to acheive was very difficult and I didn't blame her for once second when she couldn't get it right. But in the case of the makeup artist, apparently she does that for a living, she shouldn't. read more

Walking into this Ulta was the first time I have ever stepped into one of these stores and not been greeted by a single staff member, even after wandering around clearly looking for a specific product for ten minutes. While I was waiting to check out, the manager was discussing scheduling and where products needed to be put with one of her employees rather than focusing on the customer. I understand the need to multitask, but the store was nearly empty, and I feel that these conversations should wait until they are not with customers. At one point, an employee walked right past me without saying hello or asking if I needed help, and started loudly complaining to her coworkers about how badly she wanted to go home. I just got a snooty/unfriendly vibe from the staff overall, which was disappointing. In the future, I will avoid this Ulta location. read more

I highly recommend Rachel at the Highlands. I get very nervous about haircuts due to bad experiences in the past. I have been to many salons in Arlington over the last 15 years, from cheap to expensive. Price is no indication - it is a roll of the dice every time as to the stylist's ability and whether or not your personalities match. Once you find a good stylist they are worth their weight in gold! I currently found myself without a regular stylist, so I thought I'd give Ulta a try. Rachel was great - she listened and did exactly what i asked, and did a great job as well. I'd like to let everyone know how great Victoria is. I was so nervous about getting my hair done with a new stylist. She not only provided me with the perfect cut and color but she was also extremely nice to chat with. I've been looking for a stylist who can texturize my hair and my bangs as well as add some settle highlights to blond hair. For those of you with light colored hair, you know how hard it can be to find a stylist who knows all of those elements. I should also add that the pricing is better than most salons around. Have used this salon once- thought the service was great. Rebooked for six weeks later and showed up for my appointment- my stylist wasn't even at work. After waiting 20 minutes, I flagged someone down and asked what the deal was. My stylist was called at home and I was told to wait another 20 minutes for her to get there. I asked to speak with a manager who then apologized but offered nothing in the way of a solution. I guess I would have waited indefinitely if I hadn't asked someone where my stylist was. I left. The stylist chased me down by phone and told me she could meet me in 20-30 minutes if I would come back. Sorry guys- my time is as valuable as anyone's. For a $200 hair service- -I expect better. I wasn't in a great mood and maybe Lana (the salon mgr) sensed it, but that is no excuse for the bad hair cut. It was my first visit and I will not be a repeat customer. The "bangs" were not blended into the length at all along the sides of my face and she also went a little too short. I told her I was happy with the length of the "bangs" but she still cut them and unevenly I might add. She also did not style my hair very well. I like Ulta but will certainly be finding a new location....thanks to the rude manager Alexis and the lack of training provided to its employees. Every time I visit the store the cashiers are less than properly trained and there is a huge line. Today's experience was I just needed to do an even exchange of 1 item. 45 minutes later I was finally done. The cashier wasn't properly trained (of no fault of her own) and repeatedly called for the manager, Alexis. When she finally arrived I was completely ignored while she chatted on the phone, never once acknowledging me or anyone else waiting for her, there​ were other cashiers needing her assistance as well so 3 total (due to lack of training) and the line was backed up with about 10-15 people. Alexis never made eye contact or spoke to any of us on the other side of the counter. Ulta district management needs to take a serious look at the managers at this location and the lack of customer service from the front of the store. It does no good to have the roamers in the store be so helpful if you just get treated so poorly when it's time to check out. read more
