Came for a woman's haircut with D (name not disclosed for legal reasons) who reviewed and approved my inspo pic -- it was face framing layers all throughout the body + try to keep the length since I blow out my hair often at home. Mind you, this haircut has been my go-to for YEARS and I've seen so many stylists do it with different methods & techniques. D proceeds to cut my face framing layers and instead of tapering it off, she cuts the bang straight across, and then does the next layer tapered off.... I gave her the benefit of the doubt and "trusted the process" but the more I told her I didn't like something, she'd cut it and make it worse + shorter. I told her mid cut that I didn't want to continue and was gonna walk out + try to go get it fixed somewhere else. She goes to grab Roslyn (a more seasoned stylist) to look at + fix my hair and curled it to try to make the choppy job look better. Roslyn starts to fix it and uses my head as a training session for D ...................... and it all made sense. If I'm being worked on by a trainee, I'd like that disclosed before I put my hair into their hands. Now, I got a f'd up hair cut that's short af and I gotta wait for it to grow before I can actually fix it. On top of that, the manager that day Aliyah was super rude and unprofessional bc they put an "add-on" to my tab for curling my hair even though I didn't ask for it + they didn't disclose an extra charge and tried to charge me $81 for a f'd up hair cut, no wash, and a style I didn't ask for? Nope. The beauty dept in the back ain't getting my money ever again LOL. If you book a haircut here, go to Roslyn only. Can't speak for other season stylists there since nobody else was on shift but def don't go with D (name not disclosed for legal reasons). I'd rather you be safe than go to a trainee who doesn't know how to cut layers -- a basic cosmetology skill. read more

Came in to shop for fragrance today but was Displeased because none of the testers where available in the front tables so I could smell the new fragrance this was an inconvenience so I decided not to purchase any of the Kylie or the Billie. Idk if this is bc of theft or a new company policy but when I asked about it at the register why there was no testers available the cashier said bc of theft .. so that was unfortunate read more

I visited this Ulta just before closing and entered the store at 7:58 PM while the doors were still open. I already knew exactly what I needed and was walking toward the back when an associate abruptly told me they were closing. I calmly explained I knew what I was getting and asked if someone could help. Another associate was very kind and told me I could go ahead and grab my item, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the first associate walked away once she realized I would be her next customer, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. If customers are not meant to enter before 8:00 PM, the doors should be locked accordingly. Once a customer has already entered during operating hours, basic courtesy and professionalism should still apply. I remained calm and respectful, but the interaction made me feel unwelcome. This was disappointing, as Ulta usually provides better customer service. read more

I still love it cosmetics and Clinique, so every once in awhile I make a visit to Ulta. Every time I come in, I hope people will be just a little bit nicer than the last time, but it does t happen often. The store is clean and not busy, but the checkout line wraps around the Ulta makeup series. The sales associates are not actually rude, but are not overly welcoming. Ulta does not offer samples. I'm giving this store a 3 star because they are average and it's pretty much what I was expecting. On a good note, Ulta has a lot of different brands, which makes it fun to look around. read more

She took her time to understand what I was looking for and was teaching me about my under tones. She picked out 3 different shades/ different brands. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE "TEXTURED" HAIR. I scheduled a hair appointment with the salon. I asked for a blow out for medium length hair and was very clear that my hair was curly. Their response "no problem we do ALL hair types". I got there 30min early to shop and got checked in. Immediately I felt uncomfortable, the stylist came together whispering to each other. I didn't think anything of it. At the appointment time I checked in again, they said the stylists were running a little behind but they will come find me. Again, more whispering, staring and conversations this time I knew they were talking about my hair. 30min later, let get the ball rolling i go back to the counter. I asked to speak to the manager (we're going on an hour) she said "omg I'm so sorry, I don't think we will be able to do your hair today, we don't have the time or experience to the job done". First of all, I get it! I have natural long BEAUTIFUL hair but I just needed a blow out. Second, why make me wait. Third!! I didn't even get in the chair, this decision was basic on how my looked in a bun. This is NOT the place to get your hair done. Look for a more professional spot even if it's a blow out. read more

I don't really know what all the bad reviews are about. I always come to this Ulta for my Hello Kitty/ Make up Needs and I have never had a bad experience. They are always friendly. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door, when you are looking lost someone will pop in and ask if you are finding everything okay and Check out is always smooth, even if the line is long. Great place for beauty supplies and gifts for the ladies. I usually come here when my daughter comes to visit. It's one of our stops while shopping for make up products. The store is well organized and well-lit with helpful ladies that can point you in the right direction and give great beauty tips. Variety of products and wide range of quality and prices that will fit different people's whims and pockets. The store it always clean and there's almost never long lines (if any) at the cashiers area. At the least I would recommend you check out this store if you never been there and give it a chance. You may turn around, walk out and never leave and k back. On the other hand, you may fall in love with it and it will become you next hot spot for beauty supply products. I definitely recommend this place and will continue coming back. read more

I went into the ULTA at 880 Northeast Mall Blvd, Hurst TX 76053 last night. A woman named Grace was kind enough to help out this clueless husband and father to pick out a fragrance for my wife. She was helpful, patient and very pleasant to work with. I had a great shopping experience because of her. I hope the store manager see this and recognizes her for her efforts. 4 stars, because inventory is thin, and the store is showing heavy activity from the holiday season. I give the store itself 3 stars, but 1 star to my experience at the salon. I got my hair cut for the second time with Lexie. The first time was okay; I took off about 8 inches of my hair and got a haircut I was pretty happy with. I told her I didn't want many layers and she didn't give them to me. I went in yesterday for the next scheduled appointment and said I just wanted a trim and to maintain the same haircut. Instead she layered the crap out of my hair and now it isn't even at all. I'm including a picture to show how one side is even much longer than the other. When I told my husband I wasn't happy with it, he said he thought I had asked for a layered, asymmetrical cut! Absolutely unacceptable. I've already made arrangements with the manager to get it fixed, but after that I'm going to spend more and go to a higher quality hair salon. read more

This use to be one of my favorite cosmetic stores. They have lots of products plus the salon is a plus. The problem, they employees are just 'ok'. No fault of their own, it's a management issues because they haven't been train in going the extra mile for their customers. They are okay with 'ok' customer service ...more then they are exceeding expectations. The ladies in cosmetics were really nice, helpful and friendly. Then they huddled up for casual conversation while others waited. It was not business related, I could hear them. They only had two cashiers which is very frustrating because the line was long (see photo). While other workers stood around and talked. If I didn't really need the items, I would have left. This location is truly hit or miss unfortunately. They carry my bare minerals foundation that I like to use and they always have my color in stock. So that's one solid plus for this location. sometimes the girls working are super friendly and other times stuck up. Sometimes they are helpful and answer all my questions and other times they just stand there and watch me walk around helpless clearly needing guidance. One time I recall in particular, I was looking for a brush head for my clarisonic. I wasn't sure exactly which one I needed and was hoping to chat with someone about it. I stood in that section for almost 10 minutes and saw 4 idle employees (yes I counted). They weren't interested in helping me..so I left. Did a little research online and ordered them through Amazon. I will still come here from time to time to get my foundation..but I sure hope they level out their consistency so I dont feel like I'm walking on a minefield read more

I purchased items at this location about 2 weeks ago. I had some trouble finding them. Specifically Donna Karan antiperspirant and Cannuka. The employees there had never heard of either item, and wasn't really interested in looking them up until I persisted. They then had a security guard (all of a sudden) appear at the door as I was checking out. Talk about a horrible experience. This store does not make people of color feel welcome. Looking back it seems like they have MANY poor reviews from people of color either being ignored or being made to feel uncomfortable/profiled while shopping. Ethnic intimidation is a thing that several bigger stores are being sued for. It would benefit this location to know what this is. Additionally, it's seems that there is a long-standing presence of abysmal customer service. Something is profoundly wrong with a store of this caliber having such poor reviews and overall poor customer experience. read more

Jackie, the salon manager, was super understanding and accommodating to help me get a quick appointment for color correction. I'm giving four stars only because I had to come twice for the results I was after. Jake was the one that really drove it home and got me back to the blonde that I truly wanted!! I would recommend Jake for color any day and will consider seeing him again when it's time for a touch-up in a few weeks. read more

His particular Ulta is probably the worst I have been in. Every time I come here there is an issue. Usually with the staff. The sales people will lie, con and misrepresent to get a sale. Was told a product they are advertising "would be in stock tomorrow, come back then". Made the drive, took tome off work to go there and of course, product wasn't available. When I told them they told me to come back today I Was told the standard "I don't know why they would have told you that?!?" Yeah. I don't either but you just wasted gas money, work money and an hour of my life, you liars. The big con here is they don't tell you the sales reps don't work for Ulta. So if you go in asking for a recommendation for a product, you won't get a truthful recommendation. You'll be recommended a product from the line they represent while thinking they are telling you this is the best for you in the store. It's a Con. While waiting in line to ask if they had the advertised product, they were letting old people cut in line... very frustrating. Not honest representation, lies, disrespect, frustration... no thanks. There are too many other Ultas to shop in if I have to use this company in the future it will not be at this location. Ever again. read more

Recently I had to go to a wedding shower for my best friend and realized... i'm going to see everybody I knew growing up and I have serious roots. Serious roots.....oh so bad. So I went to Ulta because I read they had Goldwell hair dye. Sadly, that's wrong. They use Redken. Lana did my color and she did a great job. My haircut also turned out very well. Root lightening, all over color, trim, de-thicking my insanely thick hair, cutting layers around my face and blow out was 100 bucks. I got the same quality color and style as Toni and Guy for 20 bucks cheaper and I don't have to listen to horrid techno music. So why only four stars? I wasn't real pleased with my eyebrow wax. I got a little burned and my eyebrows also weren't exactly even when I got home. Great for hair dye and hair cut but not so good for eyebrows. This particular store is going under a major remodel. The salon equipment is all brand spanking new and the rest of the store will be completed by the end of September. Swanky. I like that Ulta carries "Tarte" brand cosmetics -natural makeup without parabens and petrochemicals. They also carry "Bare Escentuals" bare minerals - another natural line. I like buying naturally made lip gloss so when I inevitably eat it, I don't have to worry. Epilogue and knocking down to three stars: I got a phone call about an appointment for re touching my hair color that I specifically told them not to make. I had to call up and cancel the bogus appointment. also, and this is not a reflection on Ulta itself but their hair dye product, Redken does not hold up as well as Goldwell hair dye. read more

Christmas shopping a few months ago was kind of difficult because I didn't know the store layout too well and no one asked if I needed help, but I ended up buying online to pick up in store and loved that! The only disappointing part was that the website showed certain items in stock, then when I got my order, they ended up not being available so I wasn't able to get them in time for Christmas. That's not necessarily something that people in this store control, though, so I'll keep peeping back in when I need new products because I'd rather visit here than brave the mall parking for a Sephora. read more

Geeze Louise, reading some of the other reviews about this place is like going to a party where everybody is bashing the kid in high school they all hated with a purple passion. Maybe my expectations are low but I like this Ulta store a lot. Every single time I've been to this location (which over the years has been many), employees have been visible and helpful, not to mention friendly. On my most recent visit, I was greeted when I walked in the door and asked by not one but two associates if I needed any help. The second time I took the associate up on the offer for help as I needed assistance locating a certain brand of hair product. While the location is not ideal being next to Northeast Mall, this Ulta has the goods. I can almost always count on finding my sometimes difficult to find hair products here. Maybe not in the size I want but they will at least have something that I can work with and use. If you're reading comments on these reviews and contemplating whether or not to visit this location, go. There are lots of negative Nellies leaving reviews. Some of the ranting may be justified but I doubt all of it is. Try it out for yourself and you may be pleasantly surprised. read more

Giving 2 stars because of how rude SOME of the employees are and how dirty this location is. There has been some employees that wont even greet you or ask if you need any help. When it gets busy they will be monotone with you and rush you out. And its really annoying to hear them gossip about each other and employees. I came into this store today at 2 pm with no skin makeup on... I was browsing skincare options at the Lancôme bar. And older lady in her late 60's approached me, she is the Lancôme spokesperson of this Ulta Beauty location (lol) she asked me if I needed help. I told her that I was looking for a new skin care routine because I had found out that the product that was keeping my skin clear was not cruelty free or vegan and that I had transferred to a new product that was cruelty free and vegan, however this left my skin with acne. Clearly she could tell by what followed.. So she said she could help me and asked what my skin type was. I have dry skin. Not combination, not oily. dry. She asked me a couple of other questions to see if I could possibly have combination or oily skin. After I cleared up the 'confusion' of if my skin is dry or not.. she asks me.... do you pick at your skin? I professionally responded (I'm in sales.) if I did.. would that change what you are recommending me? Her facial expression changed. I asked her, do you ask everyone that? She said, no I don't. I asked well what makes me any different?? This woman was lucky I spared her soul from my wrath. Who asks someone if they pick at their skin?????? How can you even tell if someone picks at their skin???? I'll be dead before I ever consider asking any of your staff any questions ever again. Especially if I don't have any concealer to hide my red spots. This woman was lucky I wasn't a sensitive 15 year old girl and don't take comments like this to heart like others may. People in services / sales need to learn to not ask such invading questions. And no I don't pick at my skin. Lol. read more

I finally found a stylist with the ability to get my ashy - blonde highlights just right! In the past I have had a hard time finding someone whom is capable of giving my naturally golden blonde a more ashy color without turning it light blue or leaving me with damaged hair so I was ECSTATIC to find a guy named Jordan at Ulta! He really knows what he is doing, he is quick with the foils (without compromising quality) and friendly. He told me his father has been working with hair for many years and shared many tips and techniques with him and it shows! I can finally go to the salon and confidently sit in the chair without the anxiety of someone new that will likely screw it up! I highly recommend him! read more

I finally get to this location, because the one on Rio Grande Blvd and the alliance center just suck! And nothing really changed. Not enough coverage of the store. And I did get a very nice rep come assist, but poor thang didn't really know the answers to my questions, but she did take the time to ask someone else. Also, discovered a new makeup brand, but they literally only had maybe 10 of the product left. So with that being said, I'm over Ulta. I'll gladly give my money to Sephora and Beauty Brands. read more

With stores finally opening up my friend and I made our way to Ulta by the north east mall. There were signs about social distancing and forming the line outside and when we entered, the front welcome girl asked if we had masks, we did not so my friend asked if we could just cover our mouths with our shirts, we knew what we needed and where it was. Would've been in and out. My friend asked if there were any masks provided and she said no. The front welcome girl asked the lady at the register and she said yeah that was fine we could cover our mouths with our shirts. So we entered and made sure our mouths were covered the whole time. My friend walked off and the male manager walked up to her asking where her mask was and she said she didn't have one but the front girl said it was okay. He responded with "nuhuh that doesn't cut it you need to go" so she stared walking to the front and asked if we could pay for what we had in our hands and he said "no you need to get out now" and was shooing me and my friend out. We just put the items down on the front display and left. I do understand they required masks, but why weren't masks provided somewhere that it is necessary to shop there with. And on top of it all, the manager was a total asshole to us. He could have simply told us "Hey, the welcome girl was misinformed and you need an actual mask, I need to ask you to leave" would have been so much more respectful than chasing us to the front raising his voice telling us to "get out" and to leave now". This manager is definitely someone who needs to be let go considering my review isn't the first negative one about this rude ass man. read more

I like Ulta stores. The few times I've visited this location have been okay. I've encountered one employee here that's been friendly and helpful...everyone else don't seem very happy, and slightly disgruntled to have to help you. Aside from slow nights when no one's in the store and you can breeze in and out, you end up waiting in line for at least 10 mins. The last time I was there, the line was backing up. An employee was ringing up a young lady (who took her time checking her receipt on the machine...then on the receipt...then asking questions...then standing there looking at the receipt again...then standing by the door and pulling out her calculator and going through her receipt...really??!), and then decided to leave the cash register, leaving one lady to work on the building line. WTF?!? Needless to say, the other ladies in line and I were NOT impressed. read more

Occasionally I get a gift card to Ulta for a birthday or Christmas. I don't like to pay for shipping when I can get a product locally, so I think, "I'll check the Ulta across the street to see if they have what I want." However, every time, I am disappointed and annoyed because the store never has what I'm looking for. Go to the makeup section and take a look around......there are dozens and dozens of empty spots on the shelves. They never keep the shelves stocked or organized.
