UBU Eel

I have been to a couple self-serve ramen shops and this one always has me coming back. It's much more than just an instant ramen shop, they also have a wide selection of fresh prepared foods such as ubus, onigiri, and cupbops. The ramen + ubu combo is my go to and you can't go wrong with the fresh salmon ubu. The salmon is seasoned perfectly and it goes so well with the wasabi on top, it's a nice fresh pairing to go with the ramen! There is also a wide variety of drinks to try as well as ice cream, my only wish is that they added the Korean ade drinks + ice cups! It is a tiny shop with a couple tables and counters to sit at, we have never had a problem finding seating. The staff are always super friendly and are glad to help you if you don't know how to operate the self-serve ramen machines! I absolutely love this place, it's one of the best of its kind (:

This is a very small shop next to the tattoo and barbershop on harbor boulevard. I came here while my bf was getting a tattoo. They have plenty of options, but was recommended the Ubus by the artist at the shop. I decided to get a crab meat and a salmon one. The girl at the front was very nice and patient with me while I decided what I wanted. The Ubus came out pretty quick in a cute packaging with napkins and chopsticks. My favourite was the crab meat one but the salmon was also very good with some seasoning that was absorbed by the rice on the bottom making it very tasty! I would highly recommend the Ubus as a quick snack or meal.

I was craving tteokbokki and I was satisfied here! The cashier was very nice to let me know that there was a combo deal of tteokbokki and one Inari for $12! That's a steal if you ask me. Food was absolutely delicious. I'll be back.

~ Basically like. Korean 7/11 ~ I went during their soft opening. They provide discounts to students. The salmon is my favorite one! They also have that self service ramen that went viral on tiktok. There's lots of seating inside and other food than the sushi pockets.

5 piece yubu

Located in downtown Fullerton, parking could be a little bit challenging during busy times. This place is small with limited seatings, and you place your order at the counter before finding a table. We tried the five piece yubu special, which was fine, but nothing stood out. They also offer self serve ramen, cupbab, nigiri, snacks, and more but we didn't see anything on the menu that would draw us back for another visit.

Solid lunch spot! I love their combo deals. It's so worth! Their yubus are pretty big with a decent filling to rice ratio! I tried the fresh salmon, unagi, and crab ubu! The eel was a little boney which made it a little hard to eat. Overall solid!

Ordered through the Yelp app from here. I was having a late lunch and had dinner plans and tried a chicken teriyaki ubu and a salmon ubu. Each one was $7.19 and they were good but not filling. I would recommend this for a light snack where you leave feeling like you respected your body's wishes for not overeating or eating junk food on your lunch break. It delicious and it's just enough, but for $7.19 you could get more elsewhere, especially if you're feeling super hungry. Parking is located behind the store, but you have to walk all the way around to the front of the store to enter. There's no entrance in the back. This place also sells Asian or Korean & Japanese snacks and they have ramen stations where you can buy a pack of ramen noodles and make it right there in the store.

Employees are very kind and attentive. The food is pretty good, but I wouldn't say this is a place I'd crave. Smaller location but still has inside seating

We ordered the 5-piece special -- fresh salmon, eel, two spicy tuna, and crab -- and everything was super fresh! Honestly one of the ubu I've tried in SoCal. We also got the bulgogi sandwich and wow... total hidden gem! So flavorful and surprisingly filling. The staff were super nice too. We opted to grab spam musubi and onigiri on the way out because of how nice they were. Can't wait to try it at home! Can't wait to come back and try the ramen self-serve bar and tteokbokki next time. Ubu Ubu is definitely a new fave spot!

Inari

Really enjoyed this small spot off Harbor blvd. The 5 for $25 Inari deal was really attractive and everything tasted so good! We shared the Eel, tuna, and buldak chicken inari, they were pretty huge. Five pieces were more than enough for 2 people to share. The eel was definitely the standout, melts in your mouth. The instant ramen selection is quite extensive. It's fun to pick out your own and use the cooker to make your own, my wife liked that a lot. There's limited seating, so it may get a little crowded, but lunchtime wasn't too bad. Will definitely come back for more!

This place was delicious! My friends and I stopped by here after going Axe throwing next door. We were all pretty hungry and were delighted to find a yummy looking restaurant within walking distance. It seems to be a new(ish) spot & family owned. The cashier was really nice and what seemed to be either the owner/ manager was very nice too. He was very smiley & accommodating. It does take a little bit for the food to come out but my friends and I were busy talking to really notice. The wait was worth it though, the food was so good! I've never had yubu before but I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful and savory it was! I definitely recommend the eel yubu! So so good

Very pricey for pretty average yubu. $6 each meaning 2 rice pockets costs almost as much as a chipotle bowl (with guac lol). The spicy meat toppings are actually pretty spicy. But the meat quality could be better. Rice to topping ratio was disappointing especially for $6 each I expected more.

I really like this place especially on a cold day. The owner and workers are really nice and friendly. He even gave us kimchi for us to try.

I really liked the take-out, but something tells me it is better when you eat it fresh. I highly suggest people try it.

Genuinely some of the best food around. The egg u-bu was next level, and the little Ramen machines were super fun to use!

I came with a large-ish sized group so I was able to try a little bit of everything, and honestly it was all pretty good. If I were to come back I would definitely order the Beef Udon again as well as some of the meat skewers including the meatball and the steak with ponzu. // Restaurant: Our servers were attentive and quick with refills. They did miss one of the menu items that we ordered, but they quickly got the order in and the food came out nice and hot. Inside they have traditional Japanese seating (shorter tables, you sit on the ground) as well as tables that can accommodate large and small groups alike. // Notes: Prices are about what you would pay at other izakaya's. From the outside it definitely does not look like much, and the area is kind of sketch but it is def worth a visit!

It's a Saturday and husband was ready for sushi. I had another place in mind, but they didn't take…read morereservations and we're not about to chance it and wait. So we found this place and it was in the same vicinity and yay, they took reservations. Made reservations same day for a 18:30 seating. Service is impeccable. We were welcomed with hot towels, and this impressed me: when our server asked if we wanted cold or hot water. Love it! We opted for hot, better for digestion :) Our libation: Kubota sake - semi dry, rich, clean Our dishes: Assorted sashimi (16 pcs) - omakase. No soy sauce needed. Chef prepared with delicious flavors in mind. Tiger scallops - served in a what appears to resemble petrified wood, carved into a long boatlike dish. Hokkaido shrimp, cilantro oil, chilaquita (Peruvian onion relish), sweet potato crisp, smoke aji Amarillo (Peruvian yellow chili) Leche de tigre (rich emulsion of limes, Peruvian spices and chilis) - A complexity of flavors that comes together so completely. Eat with spoon. The delicate potato crisp finishes the bite with a little crunch. Udon picante - bell peppers, quinoa and 2 jumbo shrimp. Love the heat level. Comfort food at its best. Salmon parmesan - Nikkei sushi - seared salmon, parmesan bitter, eel sauce , arare, lime. Amazing. O toro sushi - the fattiest cut of tuna. Eat as is. Again chef prepared. No added seasoning required. Parri maki - fried shrimp, cream cheese, seared tuna topped with chimichurri, aji amarillo, chalaquita, ponzu. Food experience was enhanced by their impeccable taste in music. Super chill, soft beats stream the restaurant. With its perfect lighting too sets all the good moods for us. Don't wait for this fine dining experience of Japanese and Peruvian fusion. Note: when they ask if you want soy sauce, say No, thank you. It would be a shame to kill the taste of a beautiful dish with any added sauce. Kampai! Salud!

The chef is incredibly kind, and you can truly feel the passion and care he puts into every plate. I highly recommend sitting at the bar for the full experience, where you can interact directly with the chef. We've been here twice now, revisiting a few favorites and trying some new dishes the second time, and everything has been consistently outstanding. The cebiche is an absolute must-try, and you can't go wrong with anything in the Nikkei section--we've tried most of them, and every single one delivers.
