Amazing food, vibe and service...just an all around great place to go eat! Definitely five stars!

We checked out Ubon Thai during the Fourth of July as they were the only Thai restaurant that was open. So thank you Ubon Thai for being open! The location is on the nice, quiet neighborhood of the Highlands on 32nd Street aside a good amount of other businesses. Street parking is easy on 32nd and the perpendicular residential streets. The food is decent. Keep in mind that they don't use the true Thai spice levels here. It goes from 1 to 7. I ordered a 5 which anywhere else would be very spicy but I barely tasted any spice. The Pad Kee Mao was made very well and I thought it was one of the better ones I've had in Denver. The pad Thai was very bland. Spring rolls were very bland with almost no meat inside. The papaya salad was decent but it mostly just papaya and not much of the other ingredients. The service was good. She was very attentive and nice. No complaints there. If you are in the neighborhood and want Thai food but don't like spice then Ubon is a decent choice. read more

Stopped by for a casual dinner around 5:15 and were seated immediately! It is a small spot but decor is simple and the space is clean. We started with the Fried Spring Rolls as an appetizer which were nice but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered the Pad See Ewe with tofu medium spice level. The spice level was perfect for what I was looking for and the portions were great but the dish itself I felt was a little bland and lacking a depth of flavor that I was hoping for. Overall the service was wonderful and the prices aren't bad for the portion sizes - I would come back to give some other dishes a try! read more

We were looking for an open Thai place for Christmas! (Jews in Denver on Xmas- what can we say)- never tried this place before and was pleasantly surprised. Would love to try eating in next time, it's definitely a super cute place! They were very friendly - despite working on a slow Christmas night. We ordered the crab ragoons, the shrimp pad Thai, the pineapple basil fried rice with chicken, the pad see ew with shrimp (my personal favorite) and then we also had the papaya salad (not my favorite- but my dad liked it!) the we topped it off with mango and sticky rice (probably my favorite part of the meal!! Delicious!) The pad Thai was a little sweet for my liking- I feel like no two places in Denver have pad Thai that tastes similar. Highly recommend the pad see ew and then also the mango sticky rice! It sucks when you come into a nice looking restaurant and the waiter doesn't acknowledge you but just points to a table for you to sit. The waiter didn't really speak to us which didn't make it a good experience. The food- the appetizer platter: the chicken skewer was so dry it felt like I was eating sandpaper. It was way overcooked. The pad Thai was my dish and I specifically asked for no cilantro and there was cilantro on the plate. Pretty disappointing- also the noodles for my pad Thai noodles were not fully cooked. They were very hard to the point where I wasn't able to finish my food ): Drunken noodles was for my partner and he said there was no favor just tasted like soy sauce. read more

For a very small place, FLAVORS ARE AMAZING! The gentleman serving was the waiter, bartender, cleaner and possibly sometimes the cook!!!! INCREDIBLE AND AMAZING COMMITTMENT! The Service was Prompt and friendly, The waiter offered my Aspen a cosy place to sit and grinned when he saw that Aspen LOVES SHRIMP (see photos). Have you ever eaten soup with A FORK, I had to at Udon (!!) and it was Delicious. My food came out rapidly, and the Service was beyond reproach. Also the waiter checked on us "Appropriately" and smiled each time he viewed my Shrimp Eating Service Dog! I was amazed why this Darling place Ubon Thai was not busier. It has been a long time since visiting Highlands area! My favorite restaurants from long ago are gone such as Denver Bread Company, Maria's & BANG were replaced, Must Visit all the newbies; yet there are plenty of wonderful place such as Ubon Thai who have moved in. Ubon Thai is quaint, seating up about 60 people; sit either at the bar or tables. Not only was the service and food impressive, BUT the LOVELY CLEAN BATHROOM!! I had to take a photo, it is lovely and roomy. I do not have one improvement idea that could augment our experience; Udon was thoroughly enjoyable, (I do believe it was the same restaurant location as BANG, which was very popular, now UDON Thai hopefully will thrive as well. The hours are clearly on the door, 11:00AM to 9:00PM. The front area is full of cleaned windows to peer inside. And I had to Eat my Soup with a Fork, the Thai food was DELICIOUS and PLENTY, had to take a nice recyclable container with Aspen & myself. This was my second time here, first time was delivery. Both times the food was sooo tasty. First time I got medium plus spice and my mouth was on fire. This time I got medium and it was just right. So much flavor in every dish, I really can't pick a favorite. Bf got pad Thai and drunken noodles the first time, both really good. I order the pad see ewe because of the the broccoli- crunchy and flavorful. Tried the Tom Yum the first time and really enjoyed it but had to try the Tom Kha this time and wow! Very tasty Thai restaurant in the heart of Lowell Highlands - went here for dinner around 8PM on a Friday with a group of four. We got Pad See Ewe, Drunken Noodles, Fresh Ginger entree and pineapple basil fried rice. I thought the ginger entree was delicious - super gingery and had a tasty sauce. The servers were friendly and checked to make sure we were enjoying everything. I found the prices quite reasonable, especially for the highlands area. Will be back! read more

Came here for lunch with a coworker in the beginning of the week. It was a cold day and warm Thai food sounded like the perfect solution. It was a later lunch which lead to the whole place to ourselves. The decor is welcoming, hip and cozy (it's a smaller place probably around 25-30 seats total). The waiter came over promptly and took our order-- I went with the red curry with chicken (medium spice) and my company ordered the yellow curry with tofu (medium spice)-- we had a choice of white or brown rice. The food came out hot and quickly. The flavor was ok-- VERY heavy on the cream in the curry which I felt like took away from the curry spices & flavors. The fact this place has 4.5 stars blows my mind. I've ordered takeout twice from here because I can walk to pickup. The first time I thought it was just an off day so figured I'd try again. My advice, save your money and go elsewhere. The spring rolls were mushy, the Penang curry literally tasted like coconut milk with lime, and the pad Thai had no sauce or flavor. I got a pedicure done across the street and came here for dinner (and to dry my toes). Small restaurant with a cute backdrop, our server/bartender was quick and attentive but I was mostly just hungry so let's talk food: Combination appetizer 5/5: this was delicious.. i know it looks boring because they're all the same color but all the different flavors were there - and sauces! I loved the fried chicken it was so juicy (probably my favorite) and nothing on this plate missed. I'm also so happy we can try a few different things!! I would DEFINITELY get this again. Fried rice 1/5: The fried rice had zero flavor. I tried to put more soy sauce into it to help but alas... maybe more salt? Fried rice was gross my friend and I both ignored this plate :( no flavor and I wish we got two noodle plates. Pad see ewe 5/5: Compared to the fried rice this packed a good punch! Great new addition to the Denver area! My friend and I had the crab Rangoon, Tom Yum soup, Shrimp Masaman Curry, which the shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The noodles were saucy, flavorful, and had a great kick to it. Hands down one of the best pad kee mao I've had. They certainly did not skimp out on the portion. Also, get yourself a Thai Chili Paloma while you're at it to spice up your day. Love this place! Great addition to the neighborhood. They are allergy friendly and can offer most dishes gluten free. The people working here are friendly and inviting. I'm currently visiting from out of town and wanted some Thai food. After reading the reviews, I decided on Ubon Thai. I ordered the Pad Thai, medium spice with chicken. The spice level was perfect, but the pad thai was blah. I also ordered the fresh spring roll with shrimp. The flavor was ok. It came with a huge piece of cucumber. The peanut sauce they give you to dip the roll in is more like a paste...didn't really have any flavor either. I was disappointed, to say the least. Simple and basic Thai place that took over beauthai's space. We got the app sampler. I'm happy to get crab Rangoon that isn't sweet! The cream cheese is lacking but hey at least it's not sweet. Spring rolls are the store bought frozen ones. Wings were dry and over fried. Don't get the chicken satay. It's literally a fried piece of chicken on a stick. Dry and tasteless. Would not recommend.
