This is probably one of the best USPS locations I've been to. Service is so fast and the staff here are very helpful. This is an above average post office! I've had consistently good experiences: minimal wait times and competent, friendly, and efficient personnel who go above and beyond. I recently needed to mail an unusually shaped item with several other 'unusual' considerations and not only were they able to quickly assist me, they found a perfectly shaped box to ensure my item arrived in good shape. There was nothing wrong per se with this post office but nothing that was "wow" either. One star because I can walk here, one star because the worker was not blatantly rude (but not friendly either), and one star for having envelopes and such well organized. I'll echo one of the other complaints: it was dirty. Also two different people brought in dogs that were not service dogs which I didn't think was doing the cleanliness aspect any favors. Within the past 5 years or so I have been buying my stamps online line because I like seeing the wider selection and buying a larger amount seems easier through the World Wide Web. One particular morning, when I had to mail a package, I decided to see if they had the Gregory Hines stamps and they did! I was pleasantly surprised, mailed my package and had a nice conversation with the woman who helped me. The package even got to its destination earlier than anticipated which was an added bonus, though I wouldn't bank on that. Two thumbs up. If you don't need to buy stamps there are mail boxes in front and enough space to fill out your envelope by the safe deposit boxes. Yep, they got those too. Big-ups to the small post office that gets the job done. read more

I have gone in there with untaped packages (hubby handed me when we pulled up, long story), and other issues that were all my fault and they helped me out each and every time, all with a great attitude and a smile. Just don't go here. Awful customer service experience. The woman I talked to recently was just awful. She told me I didn't have the write qr code to return a shoes to zappos. But then processed the shoes returned and didn't tell me she did. We had such a bad encounter that I left with the boxes. I called my wife at work to get another QR code. The woman who worked there asked me to give my phone to her so she can talk to my wife and I was like no, just tell me. But didn't tell me. Its my phone and my business. This woman and everyone in this store needs to have a Retrain everyone in proper customer service procedures. Awful experience. Help them understand that they need to help and ask good questions and help the customer understand. They also need to understand that what the typical post office employee knows is not common knowledge to the public. There needs to be a training regime in which the associate knows it by heart and if they don't they cannot work the front desk FOH. They need to be retrained so that they memorize a script. When the customer walks in, hello how can I help you? Oh you want ____ I can help with that. Or this isn't the location where we do that. I can give you some information about where that can be done, would you like that information? This is a great example of a solutions based method. So you can help people find out what they need, provide it to them and then give them what they want. If you can't find someone who can. Remove all barriers from the employees finding a way to help the customer. The people who work here are mean and just awful. They are just not good at being empathetic and understanding and helpful. They just want you out of there quick. This isn't how things should work. No one should use the UPS stores in and around the Arlington, VA area because they are just awful. If you want to feel depressed and worthless go to a UPS store in arlington because the employees here are just not focused on giving you service. They get stressed because too many people are in line and some metrics are not being met instead of focusing on one customer at a time, one problem at a time, one solution at a time. read more

I have been trying to call the facility and no one picks up! At one point I think someone answered, and hung up. Very unprofessional. While I do understand it is a busy time there is no reason I should call 8 separate times, and no one helps. There also is no way to schedule a call back or even leave a message. read more

Not the biggest or cleanest post office, and I think the last time I checked they were lacking a self-serve kiosk, but the staff are always friendly and helpful. When I went to the Glebe Road location to buy a stamp for a sympathy card all they had was Paul Newman and Elvis stamps, telling me I had to buy a book if I even just wanted a single generic flag stamp. The Shirlington folks totally got why I'd want something appropriate and dug around without question until they found one with a white rose. Only true downside to this location is there are just a few metered parking spaces outside, so you may not be able to make a quick stop. read more

OK so this review is not about the usual front office employees at this location who are absolutely amazing!!! But sadly, today I went in and the usual front office staff was not present, only one younger guy at the position directly across from the front door when you walk in. When I walked in I was not greeted. The clerk just looked at me and didn't say may I help you. I had to approach his position. And then he just sat there like "what" not saying a word and I started to hand him one of my packages and he says "what, you need a receipt?" as if he expected me to just drop them off without saying a word and as if he couldn't be bothered to assist me at the moment. When I state "yes" he says "when y'all do this (eBay sales) they don't give you a receipt?" I said they give you a tracking number, he says it's the same thing. I say it's not proof the package was dropped off and this receipt is proof of date and time and location where I dropped it off and if I have issues with shipping I may need a receipt like this versus what they provide online based on my selling experience. He scanned and handed me my receipt. The thing that most bothers me is that he acted like me being there and asking for a receipt was a bother for him. And then he appeared to question my need for a receipt. I sell online often and use this post office at least 2-3x a week with usually EXCELLENT service from the typical front office staff. This was a younger gentleman whom I've seen and dealt with once before this and his overall attitude was the same then, like it was a bother to serve the customer. The first time I gave him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was having a bad day, but this appears to be his general demeanor and attitude/approach to "customer service". Please don't have persons like this staff the customer facing areas of your post offices if they apparently would rather not be dealing with paying customers. I appreciate this postal location and have had nothing but positive experiences with all employees here except for this gentleman. Note: A review was provided directly to the USPS as well. read more

Best post office in the area! I have been a Fairlington resident for years and always use this as my home post office and not Bradlee shopping center. My boyfriend is deployed, and I recently have had to make several trips for packages. Every time I go I am greeted with a welcome smile and a competent work staff. Lily and Daryl are great. Good customer service is hard to find, and this office is hands down my go-to. read more

Always helpful - she will help you seal your package, allows you to use her scissors and has some of the best customer service I've ever seen.
