The system is very secure and there are representative signatures for every step along the way. At all points high cost items are supposed to be within a safe unless being transferred to a different safe. I dropped off the package and it was not put into the safe. I asked if they were going to put it into the safe and he said yeah, but it was sitting on the counter. It was clear there was a high priced item inside because I had insured it for $36,000. I left the post office but felt so uncomfortable that I went back a few minutes later, and they couldn't find the package. They eventually found it, it had fallen on the floor, but it had not been put immediately into the safe as it was supposed to. everything worked out OK but I mean, are you kidding me?

Please don't get upset with the staff because you haven't done your part. I have never ever seen this post office without a line before...well, other than when the post office was closed. I showed up for passport processing, and even though all staff weren't quite expecting me, they worked efficiently and got me in & out in less than 10 minutes since I had everything ready to go. A line didn't even build up behind me likely because most people were put & about just beginning their holiday shopping.
