It works. The area has large population density. Expect lines. That's just the nature of the beast. On a plus note fairly convenient location. Parking is usually not a problem. That helps when in the region. Employees are friendly. Appreciate the extra help last visit. My apologies for forgetting her name, but well done on sending a package for the holidays. I don't get the really low reviews. Maybe I went during a good time, it was noon on a Thursday. There was no line at all. I guess it looks a bit dated on the inside but it's still pretty clean. I do wish it had a self service kiosk instead of having to go to the front desk. They were well stocked with all the necessary forms and many boxes to choose from. If you use a decorative box, you have to buy a $1 label, but if you use a priority mail box it's free. I had lots of questions and the lady had all the answers. She let me weigh my item for pricing before I selected the option I wanted. That was helpful. I would come again. read more

Visiting this post office made me appreciate my own post office in Lincolnia Rd even more. The 2 Spanish speaking postal workers couldn't have been more unhelpful, that is unless...you're Spanish speaking. Kudo's to the one postal working who was on Passport duty, she came out after seeing me struggle for so long with my packages and offered to help. The other 2 postal workers who were actually working the counter just kept telling me to go to the back of the line and sort out the package myself. Customer service gets 1 star. This post office is the best. They actually believe in customer service and friendliness.

I have had more issues at this location than I care to share. Mostly due to rude employees to be honest. Long lines that don't move, equipment that is having issues, bin on the wall jammed with boxes and no one around to clear it out, pressing the doorbell at the blue door for special assistance and no one answering the door. Had an issue with Huan Nuygen (manager) that said USPS did indeed make the mistake at step one but failed to step up as a USPS representative to fix the issue. For the second time in a month I have had an online order from a vendor handed off in transit to USPS. The Culmore location has now twice scanned (for whatever purpose) the package as 1. out for delivery, and 2. delivered in/at mailbox conveying same to vendor who sends me confirmation. So I look. It wasn't in my morning mail there wasn't afternoon mail oh, and they are closed at this hour. The first time this happened they scanned a parcel as 1. out for delivery and 2 picked up at post office.. again remarkable that all was supposed to have occurred on a Sunday when the joint isn't open at all. I do not know what benefit there is to scanning something as delivered when it gets conveyed from a vendor if it is still in the facility unless it is financial. They must look like they have a great batting average- but the vendor and the customer with tracking alerts are screwed. The first time this happened it showed on monday. I am hoping this one shows up on monday. I've learned it is anybody's guess. As an aside,.. having not so swift luck with this facility in outbound priority mailings going live with tracking, or going into a vortex for up to 5 days, I longsince gave up going there.. I drive to an usps facility 5 miles away to get things shipped for myself. I have no choice is this 22041 facility being the one that is the last stop for mail inbound to me. read more

First, I have to point out my business here was for a passport. My appointment was at 1 pm, which I arrived at 1230. The manager was very polite and helpful and told me to take a seat and she would check me in. While I waited there was a rush of customers almost waiting out the door in a matter of seconds. The manager opened a third window. Additionally, there were two post office employees (to include the manager) walking the line asking each person if they could help and assisting customers without them waiting for a window to open up. I must say I have been to a number of post offices and have never seen this level of customer service from one. On to my appointment: I was called fifteen minutes prior to the window (once the rush had been cleared). Kelly was super nice and attentive. Answered all my questions and had my application and photo all squared away and taken care of by the time my appointment was originally scheduled to start. read more

The website states the lobby is open for self service until midnight. However, the door is locked. It also doesn't look like the lobby could ever be open for self service only based on the configuration .The parking lot is also pretty sketchy. read more

I literally just received the worst customer service. Initially I came to the United States post office to mail a package. Once I got inside I was not familiar with which type of packaging I should use. Therefore I stood in line and waited my turn which was about six or seven minutes so the employees could let me know which package to use. After they answered the question she merely pointed over for which package I should use. I walked over to get the package and I had a hard time putting the box together so I stood in line once again so that the employee could help me. This time I waited in line for about 10 minutes or so and and when I finally approached the next employee to help me put the box together, she told me I could do it myself. I asked her once again could she please help me take the sticker off because I was having a hard time and she told me once more I could do it myself. Later a man from behind motioned me to get away. The representative that was helping me then motioned for the next customer in line to come up. This time I got out of line for the third time to try to assemble the box together and put the packaging slip on top. The third time I got in line it was only a minute or two wait and I finally approached a nice lady that worked there. She was very pleasant and had a calm demeanor. Overall, my experience here was not customer friendly and the staff were not helpful. They were rude and appeared to be very agitated. Can you imagine if I was special needs or needed assistance with small things this dab would not have been able to help. read more

My experience was much better than the other reviews. I went at 3 pm on a Saturday. Was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The workers spoke perfect English. The guy that helped me was very friendly. He talked to me about the Florida Gators playing in the elite 8. The place was very clean. read more

It's the worst location I ever been served at I paid 110$ for po box with two names on the contract and they gave me only one key saying that they will order another one and I should found it in my box soon. I never got any calls from them and when ever I show up they told me they would order one for me and they never did when I asked for one the employe told me that it's not up to here she do the order than it goes some where to the us and they send it when they send it !when I asked for management member they said he is in training than they decided that he's on vacation and won't be back tell a week later . Not to mention that they give me two service numbers although I am in the office still one of the phone numbers dose not work and the other was to serve a different location and the operator was mean like hill . We had a horrible experience at this post office today. We went to renew a passport for our son. We had an appointment, but when we arrived, the passport "door" was closed. We were told to ring a bell and check in. We rang, and from the closed door we were told to wait by the greeting card area. We waited for 15 minutes. Nothing. I called the main number of the post office and was rudely told to ring the bell and "check in" (which we'd already done). After a few more minutes, I rang the bell again, and this time was told to just wait, that they didn't have a person there to process passports (despite an appointment). When we stressed that we'd made an appointment, we were rudely told that a mail clerk would help us (not sure why we weren't told this in the first place). The person who assisted us at the mail counter was helpful and polite, but the branch manager was rude and dismissive. The overall level of service was an embarrassment. It is amazing anyone is able to secure a passport and travel with this horribly inefficient and broken-down system. read more

Although this is the closest Post Office to where I live, I am not able to accomplish much when I go there. On a recent afternoon shortly before 2:00 pm, there was one window open at the counter. A well-meaning Postal Clerk was trying to process a US Passport application/renewal for a family (2 adults, one child) of "Americans" who did not speak English. I had hoped to buy stamps, and the ones sold at the Automated Postal Center are quite unattractive. So I was in line. After 12 minutes of waiting in line, the lone Clerk was still trying to explain to the group desiring passports what "Maiden Name" was. Meanwhile another US Postal Service employee had walked by and asked what I was waiting to do. I said I wanted to buy stamps. The USPS employee said it would be a few minutes (understatement) because of the lone Clerk trying to assist the passport group. The USPS employee did move to the Automated Postal Center to assist another person in the line. After a 15-minute wait, with no sign of any movement in the line, and no sign anything was going to change, I uttered a Bad Word (under my breath, I hope) and left the Post Office. Similar things have happened on my other visits to this Post Office. Given the other Post Offices in the area which seem to work acceptably (7 Corners is good but lacks parking; Arlington Main-Wash. Blvd. is good but lacks parking, Preston King-Westover seems to work well and has parking), I believe a postal customer's requirements are better met elsewhere. read more
