I use this post office fairly often to mail pre-addressed letters and packages, which is a pretty straightforward process. I don't drop them in the pre-labeled box anymore though because a couple times they haven't been scanned so I do wait in line at the counter. Since they're one of the few post offices in the area open on Saturday, it can get pretty busy, especially since they only seem to ever have one person there on Saturday. They're a little better staffed during the week though so I try to stop by Monday to Friday. read more

On what is probably the busiest day of the year for USPS, I stopped by to mail packages and got friendly service from an expert. Even though I was out in less than 20 minutes, the friendly USPS worker apologized for the wait. This post office also handles passports, so if you see folks who aren't working the counter, they are still performing other work. Customer service here was stellar today. I've had some subpar experiences with the passport person in the past, so four stars overall. I'll keep coming back. And the building is beautiful! Spacious, generally friendly, clean, and conveniently located (not far from Clarendon metro). The feature I appreciate the most is the conveniently big box to drop off packages after hours (for anything larger than standard letters). Also love their self-service kiosks. If you come at the right time (avoid lunch break hours) there shouldn't be too much of a line. read more

Came around 10:30 am on a Saturday to get fingerprint services. Pretty empty aka I was the only one there at one point. Even though it was empty, the lady at the front was very kind to me to direct me to where I needed to go. The woman in charge of the fingerprints was also kind and helpful when it came to what to do or if I had any questions. Service was fast too, probably took less than 10 minutes to do. I don't want to imagine how going to this place is like on more busier days and during peak times, but I appreciated my time here when there was virtually no one! Can confirm that going on a Saturday morning is nice since no one is there that early. read more

This place is sooo slow and disorganized. I used the online system to hold AND deliver my accumulated mail when I returned home. My accumulated mail was not delivered. I took the printout (showing the mail was supposed to be delivered to me) to my closest branch to find out what happened. No explanation other than id have to ask a manager and id have to go to this location to pickup up my mail. Since parking is a,nightmare,in clarendon I asked if,they could see that it was delivered. No. I ask why? Of course I have to ask a manager that too. After getting to the clarendon branch another long wait. Went here on 1/16/12 to pick up some flat rate boxes to ship some stuff from work to home in Vegas. It was within walking distance from work, so clearly, that's where I was going to go. Upon opening the doors, WOOSH! The smell of stale piss hits you in the face. I don't know if bums have been in here trying to get out of the cold, or what, but it was awful and the place was a filthy mess to boot. There is only one redeeming quality to this place. Awful experience at this hard to find Arlington VA post office. Before I came, I called to make sure that the fingerprints person would be there. After making an hour long journey, the woman was not there. They finally reached her and said she would come in after 30 minutes. One hour later she finally appears and without a required mask! Close contact was needed to do the fingerprints, which took at least 20 minutes! This woman should be reprimanded for putting the public's health at risk and for not being at work during work hours!! read more

This is the worst carrier service possible. Mail forwarding is a joke, after a bad experience with paid premium forwarding years ago we have paid someone to box the mail in flat rate boxes to our winter location. Decided to try forwarding again. Guess what? Missing mail or a month delay if it makes it at all. Time to call the supervisor again. read more

The carrier name starts with the letter J took pictures of residence names just to tamper with the mail of residents who reported him. At the distribution center they are not delivering or sending out certain mail and misplacing mail. Informed Delivery is not reporting and missing mail also! There was an pretty long line which I totally understand because USPS is dealing with short staffing. I was ready to wait. BUT someone pulled me out of line to assist me at the self service station which turned out to be broken and I had to stand there and watch the line move, and my turn in line come and go while she opened and closed it and entered in passwords. Post Offices deserve a little "Yelp Love" too! I must say....WOW!.....I am shocked at all the negative reviews that I see on this US Postal Service location. I have used this location several times and my experiences have been quite pleasant. Actually, I would go as far to say that this location is one of the better post offices that I've ever visited in the DC, MD, and VA area! Yeah it's small and yes....there is the occasional postal worker at the clerk counter with major attitude.....but all my customer experiences at this location have been nothing but good encounters. Besides, it is not often that I would look forward to writing a review on a post office but in comparison to most in the city, why not give a thumbs up to a good one....and show some love?! The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. They genuinely greet you and seem to enjoy their jobs. Also, they are quick to offer assistance and tips for the best options to save a buck ($$$) when sending packages and mail items...... which I really appreciate. Unlike other post offices, this place is clean and doesn't look like a tornado blew through the place as with other locations in the area. If you want to send out your mail in a safe, clean place with great service then look no further. The only bad thing I can say about this location is that it can get very crowded during peak hours due to the small store space. And, having only one self-service machine certainly does not help the situation....especially when the person using the self-service machine before you is clueless and staring at the machine like it's a TV. Hate to call someone out but Catherine needs to be retrained or suspended. This woman and everyone in this store needs to have a Retrain everyone in proper customer service procedures. Awful experience. Help them understand that they need to help and ask good questions and help the customer understand. They also need to understand that what the typical post office employee knows is not common knowledge to the public. There needs to be a training regime in which the associate knows it by heart and if they don't they cannot work the front desk FOH. They need to be retrained so that they memorize a script. When the customer walks in, hello how can I help you? Oh you want ____ I can help with that. Or this isn't the location where we do that. I can give you some information about where that can be done, would you like that information? This is a great example of a solutions based method. So you can help people find out what they need, provide it to them and then give them what they want. If you can't find someone who can. Remove all barriers from the employees finding a way to help the customer. The people who work here are mean and just awful. They are just not good at being empathetic and understanding and helpful. Their passport photo machine/printer is broken here. I put in a mail hold for "### North Troy St" for a 6 day duration. You can't choose which post office holds your mail (unfortunately). When I came to collect, not only did they not have *ANY* of my mail, they brought up to me over 30 letters for DIFFERENT people at different addresses around my neighborhood. What a security violation!! I feel terrible for these other people too. Some letters are clearly wedding invitations or look important. They brought up mail from: 1210 N St, 1129 N Taylor St, 1301 N Troy, 1210 N Taft (multiple apartments), 1701 N Kent, 1320 N Veitch St, 2001 Clarendon Blvd (this one had the wedding invite), and 2100 Lee Hwy. Not one piece of mail belonged to me. I spent 30 minutes waiting for the mailroom to "call my carrier". Hence why I had time to separate the mail FOR THEM before giving all the other mail back. When the supervisor called back he informed me that my carrier had "retired", aka been fired because he's so incompetent. I spoke several times to this carrier and he was clearly disgruntled and spoke about how his supervisor wanted to fire him. So, I may be a victim of a disgruntled USPS employee that just threw out all of my mail or delivered it to other people!! The supervisor warned that they have a lack of coverage right now for delivery in North Arlington/Courthouse neighborhood, and it's the individual carrier's responsibility to pay attention to "hold mails" and "change of addresses". So basically, I paid for a hold mail, none of my mail was held in a place that's retrievable by me, and there will be no repercussions, because these are government employees. read more

I literally hate going to the post office so much that I have often paid more money just to take it to the UPS store. At the UPS store, if you bring in a package with the shipping label, or not, they will tape up your package for you, but this place will just continue to make you buy tape, and they're just rude. HORRENDOUS! I had a USPS case opened and forwarded to this branch to investigate mail carrier. They are IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with (703-993-0072) and their phone is constantly off the hook and you cannot get in touch with them. I tried calling other post offices and they say they experience the same problem. REALLY?! HOW IS THIS EVEN ALLOWED?! WTF So I go in to check it out in person and they are THE WORST! I visit the post office more than the average person. At least 3 times a week. This used to be my favorite post office in the area,but lately they've been slacking. There's been a major decline in ethics preforming and customer satisfaction. At least for me. The best part about this location is it is open 24 7. There is a self service machine and you can buy stamps or pick up supplies any time. This is great if you work 9 to 5 and have a hectic commute. There's also an ample lighting huge, space in this office and well lit. The disability access is good. I like the fact that it's well lit and a ghost town at night. However you may come across a someone who is down in their luck,drunk and is crashing in the lobby overnight. I believe this location also has several small PO Box's for rent. I can't remember the price but last time I inquired I was surprised at how costly they were. Also at this time if you are applying for a passport you need to make an appointment. You used to be able to just walk right in. The self-service machine is whack. It does not always give you the correct weight and best rates available. This results in having a postage due on your packages,being returned or held at their place of arrival. I don't know what's up with the mail carriers from this location. They are either exhausted,overworked,dyslexic or just don't care. Their mistakes have easily cost me over $1,000 in errors. Including losing my visa and passport! They have delivered me other peoples personal mail. It wouldn't be a big deal if it were just junk mail,but I'm talking credit card,bank statements and birth certificates. This is not cool! They have also failed to deliver my mail. My parcels have been improperly scanned and delivered to the wrong area on several occasions. There is a phone number for this location however,if you call you will never get an actual person. The phone will just keep ringing. The employees who work at this location aren't too chatty but they're not as bitter as some of the others I've dealt with in the past. I might say some are a bit jaded. Some have been more helpful than others. All of the times I've needed to speak with a supervisor there were available. Nor were my calls returned. I applied for a passport and they messed up my application- typed in wrong info, forgot to tell me to sign in front of them and sent application in without my signature, therefore I have to return and redo everything because they can't hire competent workers! Writing a review about a post office? Yup. This Post Office is garbage. Their customer service is terrible and the delivery guy in our neighborhood is even worse. I've personally witnessed him tossing packages onto people's door steps as well as mine. I've confronted him about it after watching him do it and he just turns and looks at me and then walks away. Truthfully, I don't even know if he speaks english. Secondly, we'll get mail that isn't even remotely close to what our address is. I've gotten birthday cards, bills, packages, and lots of other stuff with names and addresses that doesn't even resemble our address. I'll put return to sender back on the packages/letters and put them back in the mail only to find them back in my mail box that evening. I've filed 2 formal complaints with the USPS for these particular incidents and nothing has been done. Perhaps if I film the delivery guy doing this, put it on youtube, and then submit it to the Post the USPS will get it. The worst part is their general customer service is just as bad. If you try to get your passport here, show up at least half an hour early and keep reminding them that you are there for your appointment.  I accidentally went to the wrong Post Office for a 9:00 appointment, which threw me off schedule. Then I got lost trying to find the place. I called to get directions and no one answered the phone at 9:00 or 9:05. I finally had to ask someone on the street if they knew where it was, and it turns out I was literally half a block away and just had to cut through a plaza to get there. I got there at 9:15. A man was gabbing on the phone in the back--probably why no one answered the phone when I called. The woman behind the counter said to wait. 15 minutes go by, then they say they "are booked" and "have to respect the schedule." They told me it takes them 30 minutes to process a passport. Now here's some logic. I got there at 9:15. If it takes 30 minutes, then I should have been fine as I should have had the whole timeframe between 9 and 9:30. But no, they book appointments in 15-minute increments, and someone was there at 9:15, too, so they took that person first. Then while I was STANDING RIGHT THERE waiting, they skipped me and took the 9:30. In other words, they made me wait so long that they could no longer fit me in. THEY made me miss my appointment, and then got snotty with me as though it was my fault! I asked if someone could reschedule me as long as I was there. The woman behind the counter pointed at someone who was cleaning and said "she can help you." I waited. And waited. The woman was meandering around with a rag and wouldn't stop to help me. It's a good thing this was not any kind of emergency because the people there are thicker and slower than molasses in January. The best part is that when I went back to my local post office to let them know that if anyone else comes in there by mistake to tell them to just reschedule their appointment at a different post office, they asked me if I knew who was there in a way that implied that they had heard of the lousy customer service there before. They also said that it is not true that it takes 30 minutes. It takes 15 and they should have taken me. TL;dr: Lackadaisical, uncommunicative, and unhelpful. They're lucky I'm no longer a contractor at USPS HQ, because I'd really have to mention this to someone over there and get a few people in trouble. read more

I like to consider myself a savvy consumer, and I know a great deal about shipping and packaging that I could probably run a post office out of my home. With that said, I always feel like hopping over the counter and helping out the workers whenever I come here and see the typically 10+ customers waiting in line. I only come here as a last resort, when my transaction is so complicated and/or important that I can't complete it online. The workers move at such glacial speeds - it's overwhelmingly unimpressive. Sometimes, while waiting in line, I find myself staring at the paintings high up on the walls and wondering why anyone would have worn such devastatingly ugly wigs. The one star is for the automated postal center, which customers can use if their transaction is simple (like buying stamps), except the machine has been known to run out of stamps. The second star is for their plentiful stock of slips and Priority Mail boxes in the lobby. This post office is rediculous. It took ONE HOUR to ship a record to the UK. The people there are representative of the government worker stereo type. The workers are clueless, whiney, slow, and really dumb. It amazes me that people like that can put on clothes, make it work, and feed themselves everyday. The woman did not know wtf she was doing and needed everything repeated at least 3 times. If you are interested in doing a documentary of the US postal service, this is the place you should be filming. It's absurd. The interior of this post office is old which is fine, for a small post office that has been there a long time. But seriously, get some better workers. Looks like there is a small section for PO boxes when you walk in on the right. There is not much in terms of shipping materials and lines are always long - out the door. Came here to pick up an item and they were extremely surly with me over the fact that it had been two days since I got the notice in the mail. They told me that the item was about to be discarded even though the notice said I still had a week to go. Then one of the employees demanded to know why I hadn't picked up the item on Saturday and asked what was in the package. Extremely unprofessional! I was perfectly pleasant to the staff but they were downright rude and unhelpful. Trust me, USPS employees, I don't like coming to the post office any more than you like for me to. I never thought I'd say this, but even FedEx may be a better option. The Post Office over in Courthouse is much friendlier, in my experience. I like that this post office offers an automated kiosk machine. I think the parking availability could be further enhanced but is better than most offices along Wilson. This is across the street from the Wells Fargo bank. I love the architectural facade of the building with its gold dome except that one could mistake this for a bank instead of a post office. Overall, the automated kiosk makes sense to use especially after hours. read more
