Customer service here is not only poor but abusive. In a normal workplace, this level of rudeness would be grounds for employment counseling, action or termination. Giving a one-star rating is too generous for this terrible post office. This mailman left a paper for me to sign on December 30, 2025, in order to receive my parcel. I signed it and deposited it in the mailbox the following day. He came by, lowered the flag, but did not pick up the slip or drop off my parcel. On January 2, 2026, the slip is still present, but no parcel has been delivered. read more

I inadvertently dropped a letter into the inside mail slot which I meant to send registered mail. No one else was in line. I asked the clerk to retrieve it for me. She yelled at me asking what was the zip code or address which I did not know. ( it was a yearly insurance payment and was not committed to memory). I gave her my return info, she reluctantly went to search what she described as a mail bag full of letters. It was the last one and would have been on the top of the stack. She spent a couple of minutes but said she couldn't find it. If the payment doesn't reach its destination by Oct 1 I will forfeit my policy. She did not care. Fingers crossed others in the postal system do their job and it gets there on time. Totally rude, unhelpful and very unprofessional and disrespectful. I witnessed a customer speaking to the manager. He was upset because a usps truck parked so close to him, he couldn't get out plus almost took his mirror off. According to the customer the usps employee cursed at him calling him names. He wanted to report it. The "supervisor" was almost as foul without the profanity. Very lazy, inefficient staff. Ill spoken too, when communication is necessary. They will go extra slow even with a huge line. They hate their job, but can't be fired and replaced with others best suited for this position. Unfortunately this is my neighborhood post office, and I dread visits here knowing what to expect. I'm raising my rating because I think this post office has managed to get things running more efficiently. I haven't seen as many lines on recent visits. I've been able to park in the lot, albeit at off times. The USPS flat rate mailers are always stocked. And an employee told me for the first time that prepaid boxes can be put in the silver slot by the door, next to the self-service postage machine. I don't know if this was always the case. But it's nice to be quickly in and out to drop off a prepaid package. The slot is big enough to fit a large USPS flat rate box. One star is too much for this post office. I was there today at 4:31pm; over 20 people in line. One postal worker at the counter, who deserves kudos for her efficiency and pleasant manner. Gee, it is the Friday afternoon before Christmas week - and the PO can only assign one person to the counter? Many of the other PO workers walked by in the hallway, saw the line, and scurried away. I left and will drive out to Merrifield - which is a very busy place but there, customers are welcomed and great service is provided. Another irony of today's visit to this post office - the self-service machine was not working (of course not as why would this be a critical element just before the holidays?). Not only was the machine not working..it made a loud beep constantly. Beep, beep, beep...you get the idea. Confirming this POs complete disregard for its customers, not one worker bothered to silence the beep, turn off the machine, or put up an ' our of order' sign. I guess all of that takes too much effort. The post office wants its customers back and wants to provide better service..blah, blah, blah. Clear out the manager of this branch for starters. I like this post office because the service is always friendly. It can get quite busy at times but it is what it is. On my last visit, the lady at the counter was very friendly and energetic. She told me the price to ship my package and I felt like it was too high so I asked for advice and she said if I could squeeze my package into a flat rate envelope then it would be much cheaper. I couldn't find one that worked but then someone behind the counter overheard us and he found one for me! So it brought the price down by almost half! Yay! I go to this post office at least once a week, and the employees are always kind and helpful! It can be a bit busy at times and would be quicker with more staff working. That being said I've been present multiple times when grumpy "Karen's" yell and curse at the workers, usually for things completely out of their control, and they are always respectful and professional back (looking at the other reviews I think we can tell who's who lol). read more

I feel infuriated with how I was treated by one of the staff. I had a package that I wanted to be delivered and when the staff called me I proceeded to the window. I gave this young lady my package and she asked me to close it so I did. My package did not have a zip code on it; the staff asked me: "what's the zip code"? I answered: "I don't know". She did not like my answer and said: "For future reference, have the zip code"; I answered: "Okay". The USPS staff started typing her computer screen while I waited for her. She looked at me and said: "Do not insert your card!". I answered: "I am not inserting it". She said the second time: "Do not insert your card!" I said: "I am not inserting my card." But, it looked like she was angry for any reason and wanted to repeat herself and said the same thing. She said: "Do not insert your card" I said:"I am not inserting the card I am waiting for you"She said: "Step to the side, she'll help you!" meaning the cashier next to her. I asked her: "Why?" She looked at the other person in line and said: "Next". I was shocked she did this. I did not say or do anything that could trigger such treatment. Yes. I stepped to the said as the whole line standing at the office was staring at the horrible situation. This person working as a staff probably either hates her job or is putting her bad day on me.The post office was crowded and she talked very loudly so everyone could hear this absurd treatment. I felt humiliated and embarrassed about all this. She was not pleasant and did not seem to care about me as a customer. What's so hard about helping if that's her job?? Parking was a nightmare, plus the line was out the door with only two people assisting folks. I stood in line for 30 minutes. My thoughts had anticipated my visit to go quick and painless which didn't happen. A couple in the line got in an argument while standing in line too. With everything just made this very uncomfortable, and more than likely me never to return. This was on January 14 in the middle of the afternoon...no special holiday or something. This US Post Office has quite a few kinks to work out. As many other patrons have noted, parking is pretty bad. You can park around the corner on 22nd Street which has ample parking. I typically do that or just bike there. If you're willing to go at it Frogger-style, there's parking across the street too. Despite getting some major renovations done (it's much more spacious and organized), there always seem to be a staffing shortage. While the staff are always cheerful, with some knowing their customers by name, there just never seem to be enough staff to deal with the number of customers that come by. It might be a good idea to not go right before closing. If you're not shipping anything too complicated, like a small package going to a domestic address, best use the USPS kiosk. It can be used at all hours of the day! It prints postage and super easy to use. Best avoid the lines during business hours and use the handy dandy kiosk instead. read more

These folks are simply unable to deliver mail to the correct addresses. Unbelievable!!!! Everyday I have to walk the streets to try to locate my mail and deliver other people their mail that was put incorrectly into my box. Our old postal carrier was great. Where do I start? I ordered a package 5/13/2018 it arrived in Arlington VA 5/24/2018. I have been tracking it online & waiting for it to be delivered. I called several times (3 different post offices) and got 2 claim numbers which they considered missing mail. I finally received a email from the post office yesterday that they were unable to deliver my package. I called this one today at 11:25am and was told it was shipped back to china! Less than 24 hours,(4:27pm to be exact & they close at 5pm) I'm pissed because I have kept in contact with the post office and given them my name,address, phone number and email but I guess they don't speak to one another. This is crazy, they need a universal system which I thought they had with tracking system but I guess not. I just don't understand why they ask for your information but won't use it properly. read more

This small post office is often crowded, with long lines. As Bootsy R. noted, the parking lot is awkward to maneuver around and the situation is exacerbated at rush hour times. (Take a look at the picture above to see for yourself. The parking lot is tiny which makes pulling out/in difficult, especially during peak times.) Avoid this location when it is about to close for the day. Many people seem to be rushing to the post office then. My mail is returned to sender several times a year despite being correctly addressed to me. My birthday cards to people go missing at the rate of several a year and are never delivered. Items are taken out of some envelopes. The skill and customer service attitude of the employees is extremely low. read more

Don't even try to drop mail in the outside drop boxes! They are rarely unemptied! Twice in the last 30 days, both boxes were so stuffed, I could hardly get my bills to fit inside. They are supposed to be emptied at 5pm daily but, clearly, they are going days without being emptied. Maybe longer. read more

Horrible. They lose your packages and mail and the customer service is horrible and rude they don't handle complaints! They just move the bad carriers and front desk people around to other locations which make the other Arlington post office worst. The carriers are rude and don't pay attention always on their phones which always lead to errors of getting other customers mail! Kind and understanding comes to mind. There is a gentleman that works there all the time. He's had some travel experience and is very helpful. I refused delivery of a package that was sent to me by mistake. I posted a note on my storm door with the shipment tracking number clearly written on it. The mail carrier--who must open the storm door to deliver the mail--delivered the package anyway. I complained twice to the USPS over two weeks, and I finally got a reply from the North Arlington post office today--which said that I can't return opened packages. Which, of course, is not what happened at all. I think that the mail carrier didn't want to take the package back to his truck and that the postal worker didn't want to bother to read my complaint. In other words, both are fulfilling the stereotypes of lazy, postal workers who could care less about customer service. And, unfortunately, I'm stuck with them. read more

This is my favorite hometown post office. The staff are much more patient and efficient than those at the Westover post office. I agree with Ann-Ella P.'s tips regarding crowd avoidance and parking lots. If you're driving with someone else and there are no available parking spots, have them hover by the mailboxes while you do your mailing. read more

Hey, it's a post office. It's just not set up for a delightful customer service experience. Long lines, limited hours and the parking is limited, which can be a pain during peak hours. I've always found the available services unnecessarily confusing (just what IS the difference between certified mail and registered mail?). Sometimes you get a helpful employee, but sometimes you don't. For many of these reasons, I LOVE the self-ship kiosk, which is open after hours. And I have to say, these folks kick it into high gear during the holidays, keeping those packages moving. All in all, I haven't found this one to be much different than other post offices across the country. read more

This is definitely my first five-star review of a post office. I had holiday cards I wanted to mail on New Year's Eve and get a Dec 31 postmark. I still had cards to fill out, etc. I arrived at 4:59pm when they were sliding the closing doors shut (many post offices are not open as late as 5pm on New Year's Eve). I was the last person admitted before they shut the doors on the service desk. I was lucky. I got "Mei" -- who was a champ. She got me all the stamps I needed -- let me browse commemoratives, I kept saying I will finish my cards outside but she waited patiently working with me until 5:25pm - incredible. Some of my cards were international -- more work. All of my cards happened to be oversized -- more postage -- who knew? (I'd self shipped a bunch with too little postage apparently). Overall, five stars. This is one of the best post offices in Northern Virginia. Full service and longer hours than most post offices. Yes, they do need more parking -- but that is only because there is real demand for a full service post office with good hours in the Northern Virginia area. After waiting on phone for 30 minutes, manager told me that online holds sometimes don't work and I should submit a yellow slip. He also indicated that he would tell carrier to hold for the second week. Came home. All mail had continued to be put in my mailbox second week. Talked to carrier. He indicated that he was not aware of hold. Called manager again to find out what happened. Left telephone number with supervisor. Second day, no call from manager. Received the worst service at this post office. Came in to deliver a package - had a 16 month old baby boy with me (I'm his nanny while I'm in graduate school) and was checking out. I asked to borrow a pen and was scolded "only if you give it back!!!" By the Asian man who works. I thought that was incredibly rude - I'm simply asking to borrow a pen. I then finish and he coughs while holding his hand out picture " cough cough hand it over!" Listen mister I'm not here to steal a pen! Then as I'm holding the baby up to put my debit card in he scalds me yet again to make sure "the baby doesn't mess up the card machine" WTF does that mean? Do babies regularly mess up credit card machines?! I definitely think he thought I was a young, single mom and was treating me incredibly poorly. I used to go to this post office as a kid 30 years ago. I looks nearly the same today; nice but tiny, with an air of great efficiency. When you drop off a package here, you have the feeling that it is in good hands. The parking lot is tiny but if we could park land yachts there in the 70s I think the SUVs of today can handle it too. read more

This post office is an example of why the term "government worker" is such a cliche. When I went to inquire about a temporary change of address I was told emphatically (and incorrectly!) that it took effect immediately upon doing it on-line. Thank goodness I checked with my mail carrier who said it took 10 days. Here I am three weeks later with no mail, missing bills, etc and when I called to inquire I literally got a sigh and then silence. When literally 30 seconds later I asked if anyone was there (I assumed she was looking something up) I got attitude and a rude explanation for where my mail was. The only bright spot is my mail carrier Stephanie who is amazing. They have had many people retire recently and have brought on new staff- terrible.
