The lady working the desk at 1:00pm on 30 May was extremely rude. I walked in and up to the desk like any other post office. There was one other person preparing a package at the prep desk. There was no signs indicating a line or to wait until called, again like any other U.S. Post office in the USA. I asked to send a letter and the lady stared at me and then berated me for walking up to the desk. I asked what I was supposed to do and she waved to the room at large and said I should have waited in line until called. I said sorry there was no sign indicating that and she said she doesn't need one. Shouldn't be working with people, terrible attitude. read more

I've stopped here twice to mail packages and had no issues. I can't speak to the other services offered. They have a lot next to the building which makes parking a breeze; however, getting in & out can be a little tricky. I think USPS has suffered a lot in terms of budget cuts, etc., so I understand many USPS folks are just doing the best they can with what they have. I'll continue to support USPS! read more

The women that works at this location is racist, she denied to print my QR code because "the package was too small", I asked for the policy that stablishes that " If a package is small, they can't be print the pre-paid label" but she said she couldn't provide me any document that stablishes that. I went to another USPS and they printed without problem. She was extremely rude and told me I had to leave because her lunch break was coming up, I was treated so poorly due my race. read more

Walking into this Post Office is like descending into a public school principal's office when you did something wrong. The primary individual working counter has taped up countless "danger" signs informing customers (who are the taxpayers) of USPS's rules: no dogs, no beverages, no smiling, no free tape, no phones, no guarantees, no small talk, no homeless, no this, no that. The signs are a crude, but effective, form of psychological warfare designed to beat you down before having to mail a package. If and when you make your way past the signs to the counter, you will be "greeted" by the primary associate who makes the customer feel like a pester. Which to this particular USPS associate, the customer IS a pester: the associate believes the job is to tape up signs. I won't get into my encounter except to say it the Associate attempted to humiliate me in front of other tax payers... I mean customers-- while handling my packages with the level of care you wouldn't give an empty wine bottle. While the associate was highly unsuccessful in trying to out wit me, they tried, and that's the message and the problem. I'm not saying the tax payers deserve more than a neutral expression from PO associates; Post Office customers are oftentimes wacky and rude, I've seen it! But customers who otherwise don't start trouble shouldn't be assumed to be rustlers before stepping foot inside. Avoid. read more

Avoid this location unless it's an emergency. There's only ever one employee here and it takes awhile for things to move. No stamp machine so must wait in line. read more

You need to get your correct full service hours posted here. Those hours are for access to the lobby and mail slots and stuff. No service people. The real hours are the usual light hours, nothing special here. read more

I have had horrible experiences at the Wythe Street location, but mostly positive experiences here. It is small, and often have only one staff working, so there could be a line/wait. Also, sometimes it would close due to computer problems. However, the staff here is mostly kind, helpful (troubleshooting package dilemmas...which i guess would be irritating if you are waiting in line...but not if you are being helped) and courteous. I come in here sometimes ready to do battle, only to be pleasantly surprised by the good treatment/interaction with the staff. read more

I was sitting in my car at a red light in old town Alexandria and watched a female postal carrier cross the road carrying a large package and some loose mail. She dropped the loose mail in the middle of the road. She looked down, and then kept right on walking. Never picked it up, and a few minutes later walked back by it after delivering the package and stepped over it on the way back to her postal van and drove away. I tried to call the post office twice to report this but got no answer. read more

Pro: close to a bunch of other shopping. Cons: Almost always a line, small, dingy. Bottom line: If I need to mail a package, I'll probably go here. But I won't do it if I'm pressed for time. read more

I went to this post office today to buy stamps for my wedding RSVP envelopes. The woman working there, Felicia, spoke to me like I was deaf and a complete moron. I did not particularly like the cheesy gold wedding band stamp that she showed me, so I asked if there were any other choices...even if it wasn't meant for a wedding. She kept loudly saying that stamp prices went up on May 11th...so I'm guessing that means that they had limited choices. I asked if any other post office may have other stamps, and once again she loudly repeated that prices went up on May 11th. A simple no would have sufficed. read more

Best experience at a post office in DC/VA yet. I was in and out with a whole package in under three minutes and the lady was so kind and helpful. She even gave me a box for free. Granted this was at 2 on a weekday but there was no one else inside. read more

Always achingly slow here. And on Friday afternoon there always seems to be a "computer outage" that closes the branch early. Plus have experienced other vexations over the years. They get two stars because the staff is friendly, so they have that going for them. But the Wythe St. Branch is better overall. read more

This post office has an awesome employee, a lady who is efficiency personified. I have seen her work all by herself, clearing a long line within a single digit number of minutes. I have not even felt rushed in dealing with her. I use that branch whenever possible because she doesn't waste my time and gets things done beautifully. read more
