Service was friendly & VERY helpful at this location. There were 6 or 7 customers in line on Christmas Eve & two front desk staff members. The line moved as fast as reasonably possible & both USPS staff & customers were cordial. I shipped a small package & asked Cece if I could have a little tape for the ends of the padded envelope; she was already two steps ahead of me & secured my envelope with care. Claimed that nobody was present to sign for certified mail package, but nobody came to our home or our street (we have a ring camera). Then when redelivery was scheduled, it never delivered. I tried to call the office, nobody would answer the line. I called USPS support, they said all they could see is that it was never scanned out for redelivery. They said I would have to submit a formal complaint and wait 3-5 days for them to respond to complaint. I asked if I could go pick it up from USPS directly, they said they couldn't see which USPS it was located at but they could give me the half dozen addresses for all the surrounding USPS locations I could drive to and see if it's there...... The USPS literally has one job and they can't do it. Just deliver the mail. This place needs audited. And based on the other reviews, the people who work here don't seem to care about their jobs. read more

I tend use this Post Office only around the holidays, and let me tell you they had the A-TEAM working this Christmas. The line was out the door, but it couldn't have taken more than 7-10 minutes to get up to the front. Amazingly dedicated staff! They also have self-service for simple things. read more

Good god I did not think someone could be so unhelpful. I had a package to pick up and was immediately told by the employee helping me that it wasn't there. She did not ask my name, my tracking number, nothing. Without skipping a beat she said they didn't have it. I told her I was expecting a package, that I received a text message saying it would be at this location and that it was being held for pick up. She told me the text was spam. I said, how can it be spam if I am expecting something? Can you check? She reluctantly handed me something to write on and said well if you can give me some information that would help. She asked me to move to the side and after she helped her fourth customer after me i told her that on the usps website it says the package was delivered here this afternoon - to which she finally decided to inform me someone was looking for it. Definite frustration with both this location (extremely disorganized) and USPS policies/practices in general. Brought in a pre-labeled, prepaid Priority Mail package, and was told by one of the Postal workers on duty to place it on the counter to the far right (there were other outgoing packages stacked there), since they were busy, and it would be scanned in that evening. 3 days later, and the package is still not showing in the USPS system. When I called USPS, I was told that 1) there are no cameras in this location 2) that means that there are ZERO. guarantees packages left at counter or dropped in the parcel drop bin. 3) according to the woman I spoke with USPS is not responsible for any mail dropped in USPS drop bins or left at the counter; they will only take responsibility if you have a receipt showing it was scanned into their system. I like that this post office has late hours, like being open until 4pm on Saturday, and 6pm Mon-Fri. The staff is pretty nice, and there's usually a woman there who expedites the line by addressing basic questions and handling pick-ups. Even so, on most days, at 5:45ish pm, expect a fairly long wait because so many people are in line. Come earlier if you can! I don't think they have passport service but there are lots of cards and gift wrapping materials, mostly double-triple retail, but it might be worth it if you don't have time to shop around. Parking is adequate so, it's better than the one with no parking on North Washington St, but I might go to the one in Delray on Mt. Vernon Ave if I was in between, because there probably wouldn't be a line in Delray. Both of those alternatives have more limited hours. read more

I had to give a star but otherwise, I would give negative 500 stars. A package that I shipped lost and I called customer service and they had the post office to contact me. I initiated my call on a Saturday April 11, 2020 and received a call from the post office on Monday April 13, 2020 to let me know that they would contact me once they did some type of investigation/trace of the package. I then got a call back yesterday from the Arlington, Virginia Post Office on Thursday April 16, 2020 at 12:07 pm CST (1:07 pm in Virginia). The lady that called said that she was helping the supervisor and called me to give me a status of my package. Her status was we have no updates then why are you calling me interrupting my day to tell me NOTHING. Then she told me that I needed to call the post office in Illinois. Huh???? Isn't that why I waited for them to go through their internal process? If I was routed in error, internally would they not reroute my call? I told her she was not helpful at all. I did not yell or scream but advised her in a professional tone I will have to start the process again and contact the Postmaster and do you know what she did to me on April 16th at 12:07 CST? She HUNG up on me! I was livid. She hung up because I told her she was not helpful at all and was not making sense based on me experiencing the same issue the week before with another post office (two packages roaming their system). The unprofessional associate called from phone number (703) 684-7168 at the Post Office in Arlington, Virginia. Once I got off work I called the number back and could not get through so that I could find out the name of this person that hung up on me and I got no answer. Now, I'm back to square 1 ev 7 days after my initial request due to her lack of professionalism, etiquette, and most of all unwillingness to provide good customer service. I ALWAYS have excellent experiences at the USPS that are located in Munster, IN, Highland IN, and Griffith, IN the associates in NW Indiana are OUTSTANDING and the Arlington, Virginia Post Office needs to have an Associates from NW Indiana to come over to teach them ALL of those skills that they lack. read more

Be careful dropping off time sensitive packages in the bins in the lobby at this post office. They do not collect the packages twice daily like they are suppose to, and like what is stated on the bins. I run a business and sometimes drop packages in these bins and they sit there for 2-3 days in these bins before they are collected, and it takes several days before they start showing movement on tracking. Dropping packages in their bins means your packages could be delayed by many days. They do not collect the packages as they are suppose to and are unreliable. Woman with very short hair was manning the door, presumably for social distancing purposes. She directed me to walk the long way around to the counter (which I would've done anyway), however on my way out, prior to waiting for me to exit, she called the next person in. I said to the person-"please give me a second" and she spoke over me saying "come on, sir". It was rude and most importantly, did not keep in line with social distancing practices. I don't appreciate being put in harms way. Additionally, it seems like they are short handed. I have had to inquire about packages shown as delivered several days prior, however not having received notification for. Also, I have been missing mail. Not sure what's going on there, but they really need to get it together. One star for the courteous and always professional gentleman that works there. read more

Well, I always liked this one until a few days ago. I was the only person walking into the place after the holidays and the woman at the counter was out cold. I mean dead asleep. I cleared my throat a few times and nothing Then finally had to yell out, three times, "Hello?" and she woke up. Yipes. While she is a very nice woman, this is just ridiculous. And there were other employees milling around in the back room while this was going on. She was apologetic, then said she thought the other woman was working the desk too. (so what does this mean? I live in old town and whenever I have gotten a package slip in the past, it has said to pick it up at the Wythe Street location. For the past three years, every time I have gone to do so, I have been abrasively told that my package wasn't there without anyone bothering to look. When I insist, they invariably look and find it. This past Friday I got a tracking update that delivery had failed and that my package was available for pickup and a note had been left. There was no note. I went to the post office anyway, tracking info in hand. Big mistake. The postal workers were all rude and I was told that without a slip, I was wasting everyone's time. One man also attempted to blame the snow, which had fallen a week prior, and informed me that if i hadnt plowed my walk, i couldnt expect packages. I informed him that my sidewalk IS clear and was told i must be lying because then I woyld have received my package. I asked the woman at the counter if she could please just look, and she told me that this wasn't my post office(?) and I had to leave. Several baffling tracking updates later ("business closed" even though I'm a residential address, "receptacle blocked" even though we got other packages that day and one of us was home the entire day) I called the national line. They confirmed that this absolutely is my post office and are unsure why I am being told otherwise, and opened an investigation into what has happened to my insured, two day shipping package. I went back to the post office this morning. Unfortunately I ended up with the same lady. I calmly explained that the tracking once again said a slip was left, but I could find no slip. She asked for my ID, I gave it to her, and she went around the corner for less than 3 seconds before telling me it was not there and this wasn't my post office. I told her the package was insured and that I had paid for two day shipping and am now on day 10 from the date the tracking shows as received. I also told her that the national customer service says this is my post office. She wrote down a phone number without explaining what it was for and said, "we do not serve your zip code" and called the next customer up. The phone numerous has a local area code and appears to not be connected to anything. I'm still not able to figure out what it was for. read more

Is there anything more tragically futile than writing surly internet reviews of the post office? I DON'T EVEN CARE LET'S DO THIS. -- This P.O. LOST a piece of certified mail for which I received a pickup slip at my house (hope it wasn't important... which is a joke because important stuff is what certified mail is FOR... it's been over a year and I still have no idea what it was) -- Some old guy behind the counter was incredibly snappish with me when I went in a second time to see if they'd found my certified mail, which they had TOLD ME TO DO. Old guy snarled at me about how my slip was too old and they don't hold things that long. Which, okay, but, it wasn't old the first time I went in trying to pick up that item. -- When you go in after hours to use the automated kiosk in the outer lobby, there are almost never any Priority Mail packaging materials in the whole display/storage thing that is meant to hold them. It just sits there empty. For a while I blamed myself, that I was going too late at night and just everyone beat me to it, so I started trying to go early in the evenings shortly after close, and nope, they just never fill the thing. -- Last straw; today the automated kiosk was broken, so I went inside to buy stamps, but I had my dog with me, and they said "the dog has to go outside," which amounted me to kicking me out because I was *not* going to tie my dog up and leave her unattended to stand in the 12-person line--wouldn't be that bothered by tying her up outside to use the automated kiosk since it's 5 feet inside the glass front doors where I could keep an eye on her, but nope, sorry, I will not be cooling my heels in a ridiculous line for half an hour while hoping my dog is still where I left her outside. I replied to the guy that none of this would be an issue if they'd fix their kiosk and then left; a man walking out at the same time who heard the exchange told me the kiosk has been broken for days now. And then I walked home with my unsent mail still in my hand. So basically, I'm not in any way some shifty Tea Party type like the dude who wrote a review of this P.O. all OMG GOVERNMENT IS EVIL AND WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT LET WORKERS TAKE GOVERNMENT BREAKS NOOOOOOO, but nonetheless I am quivering with excitement for the day that the city moves forward with its plan to turn this entire block into a park, and begins demolition on this post office. I will be there with popcorn and Milk Duds. read more

I use the post office quite frequently (ship lots of packages) and I use this post office because of the automated machine. So one night, the machine cuts a postage sticker in half. Can't use it. The next day, I wait in line for 15 minutes for a rude, loud, surly man to tell me the problem is I tried to ship a 13.8oz package as First Class. I grabbed it and found an employee and showed them on the automated scale (which resets itself after every use) it is 12.9oz. He says he will get the manager. Five minutes later, he comes back and says the manager says you have to go by the counter, not the machine. So I go to a different counter. 13.4oz. Look, I know a few tenth ounces is not a big deal, but the manager couldn't take the time to talk to me. I've mail two envelopes from the counter and neither arrived at their destination. And if you're not going to tare/reset your scales, then I don't know what to say. Shady business practices. In addition, the automated machine doesn't work half the time, and when it does, the box for packages is full. So I have to bring them back anyways. The customer service here is awful, as well, which makes coming back such a "joy". Use the automated machine here if it works, avoid for anything else. Go to DelRay on Mt. Vernon Avenue if need be. read more

I appreciate the Saturday afternoon service hours, and service was fast and polite. I don't know what it is about post offices and other kinds of mailing facilities, but there's something about them that makes me feel so at home. Maybe I was part of the Pony Express in a past life... It's literally the only place that I don't mind the noise, bureaucracy, and endless lines. Anyway, this is a pretty standard post office. Though the Del Ray USPS is closer, they don't have a self-serve kiosk which is super convenient because I can never make the Post Office's wacky hours (not wacky, but I can almost never drop something off to the counter because I work beyond their hours). The only thing I don't like about it is that they either 1) don't scan the packages dropped off in that mailbox or 2) don't check the mailbox daily. I'll print labels online and attach them and try to drop them off, but it's not very punctual. I have dropped things off on a Monday and they won't be scanned into Dulles until Thursday or so. It really hurts my eBay ratings. :( The one Saturday I did manage to make it in on time, an older man at the counter helped me. He was really nice (though almost to the point of creepy-flirty) asking about who these packages were going to. They all were addressed to three different males in three different states, and he joked that I was cheating on all three of them without them knowing. Innocent enough, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable to have anyone look at my mail like that if it's not their business. If I need a package scanned in promptly (they scan the label immediately as they accept it at the counter) I'll send my boyfriend to drop packages off at the counter. Once, he got the same older man helping him and he said he was super rude/dismissing. He said he was only ever nice to girls, so just a heads up if you're interested. This is a larger post office, but it's never too crowded... Unless you go around the holiday season, then, like every other post office, it's full of long lines and wait times and people who don't know how to address their packages. Even the outside kiosk has a line! Though they'll occasionally send an employee out there to click through the screens and that helps a bit with the lines, but you're still looking at at least 20 minutes. Other than those times, it's a pretty standard post office. Somewhat clean (though the outside with the kiosk always has papers on the tables/floor) but still has the dinginess of a municipal facility. Not particularly impressed, leaning more towards disappointed, but I remain hopeful. read more

I'm not sure what you can possible do for these people to care. I guess they get paid regardless of patient satisfaction so what does it matter. But I have yet to see them even pretend to care and make some effort to assist. We've had packages lost, they have never gotten our mail hold correct, and now we haven't had mail delivered to our home in a week and they say there is nothing they can do. I like that USPS promptly fixed the kiosk. The new kiosk has a more slender card reader. Furthermore, I like that it prints spider man postage. Note the only downer is that if the purchase is less than $1, you have to buy more postage until the amount equals a dollar but this is with all USPS kiosks. Where else can you buy color printing for under 50 cents. If your handwriting is as challenged as mine is, you will like the automatically encoded postage which seems to include the the ZIP+4 code manually keyed on a keyboard. read more

I have been going to this post office for over six years now. I find that the desk clerks are usually pretty nice and perform their job really well. However, the reason for my low rating is for the manager who I find to be pretty shady. He does not go by the book and likes to 'fudge' things to work to his advantage. I will say that I have never had a problem with rude workers here. they are always very nice and try to help me. the issue is they haven't ever exactly been helpful. I tried to return a pair of $300 boots. asked for a tracking number. they gave me one that doesn't actually apply overseas...where my package was going. long story short, I am down $300 for the boots that never made it in addition to the $50 I paid to send them back. Boo, Wythe Street Post Office. Boo! Every interaction that I've had with you has left a bad taste in my mouth. Here are a few examples: 1. Package delivery. Because the drivers tend to be lazy (or at least mine is), they will scan the packages as "Delivered" in the morning, and then if they don't get to all of them that day, they will deliver it the following day. For people who are terrified of having their packages stolen, this becomes a problem. We see that it has been delivered, rush home, and find it missing. Panic! 2. Held mail. Whatever you do, don't put your mail on hold and then opt to pick it up at the office. Every time I've done so, I've waited in line, only to be told that "it can't be found." Then I will talk to a supervisor. And sit in the waiting area in the back. Who will subsequently find it, though an hour of my day is wasted. 3. Staff. Now, this is an isolated incident, but I was there picking up held mail (that was "lost" by this staff member) and one of the staff members, an older gentleman, was entirely rude to everyone, taking people out of order to pick up mail and packages, and giving everyone attitudes. 4. Mail forward. Now, I'm moving out of the area, so just to make sure I had all my ducks in a row, I put in for a mail forward starting a month away. Suddenly, mail stops showing up. Then a yellow slip in my box saying that the property is vacant, and not to deliver mail. No, it's not vacant! I had to call the main corporate phone line to get them to tell this post office to keep delivering my mail until that day, since they rarely seem to pick up the phone. Sigh. Seriously, this post office has done nothing right for me. Avoid if you can...but if you can't, don't expect stellar service. read more
