I love this little post office. Always helpful and ready to offer suggestions. Staff is courteous and professional.

I used to avoid this location like the plague, even though it's my local USPS location, because the woman who used to work here was SO awful. At best, she'd sit behind her cluttered counter and not say a single word in response to greetings, requests, etc. - but at least you'd get what you needed. At worst, she'd scream at you. So I was so happy when I had to stop in this week to find her gone (hopefully fired, or at least moved into a non-customer facing role), and replaced with Cece, who was friendly and helpful. I'm somewhat shocked that USPS apparently finally responded to the complaints people have been making about this location for years, but am very happy to be able to use my neighborhood post office again. read more

Overdue, but here I go...it's Saturday, and no mail, not a holiday, but nothing-this after Friday the mailman was on the other side of the street and never even came to our side (thus no mail since Thursday). I understand our mailman is the shop Stewart, and a very lazy one at that...walks so slow it looks like he's walking backwards, always, ALWAYS on the phone (via head set), multiple mis-deliveries-I either have to deliver to the corrects address (I used to work at UPS, I know the drill) or write on the letter/package a not to inform of the mistake...also, when a letter is left to "go out" 9 times out of 10 the letter is still there, so I just mail it on my own now. I know nothing will change, and there is nothing I can do, but I feel better getting this out of my system...I know this mailman is one example of incompetence-will it ever change? I walked into the post office yesterday and didn't even recognize the place!! The counter was cleared off, the walls were clean, the annoying music was turned off and most significantly, there was a friendly face (CiJ) behind the counter who couldn't have been more pleasant, polite, professional or helpful - a great "Ambassador" for the USPS ! The transformation is a refreshing change from the "old" place that resembled more of a drug den than a government office space and was manned by a postal clerk who appeared to hate their job with zero customer service skills. Whoever made the decision to "clean house" ... "Well done!". Like the other previous comments... it's something that should have been done a long time ago; however, as the saying goes, "better late than never". read more

Complete 180 at this location! CeCe has changed the entire experience. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and has a warm, friendly, caring approach to customer service. I use this post office regularly. The service is prompt, exact, quick and professional. I would have given 5 stars but the hour closing at peak time leaves a lot to be desired. After a stressful week, I went to the Post Office today around noon with an Express Mail box that I had carefully covered all of the Express Mail markings on, as I just wanted to send a return the cheapest way. After walking in, I noticed the clerk was maskless and considered asking her to put her mask on. I understand that violates the executive order of the U.S. president for federal agencies. Instead, I gave her my package, which she scanned from the code on the bottom. I said, "I don't want to send it Express Mail though." She said, "Well, it's an Express Mail box." I was like, "But I covered all the markings!" She rang it up: 13-some dollars. "Can't you just send it as a regular box, since I covered all the markings?" "No," she said. "That's ridiculous!" I said in frustration, losing the patience I had vowed to keep in the morning. "I don't care about your opinion about it neither," she unhelpfully added, as if I were her sassy child. "You don't have to be like that," I said, resignedly charging my card to save myself the hassle of going elsewhere. She handed me back the box, even though my payment had already processed. I was like, "You can't do that. You already charged me!" But she just went in the back room. I left. I went back a minute later and saw that she had cancelled the charge at least. I went to another Post Office, where a clerk kindly explained to me that while they might be able to send it non-Express Mail, the difference was only 20 cents (and they only charged me $11-something}. Just a little sympathy by this clerk for a fellow human's frustration would have been most appreciated. I get that not everybody is cut out for customer service, but I can't believe that a failing "business" is run with such a lack of professionalism that an employee is allowed to skip masking and upbraid a customer for their non-abusive communication. I won't return there, and I don't recommend it. read more

Swung by during business hours to drop off a prepaid USPS package. Rather than accept it, they have a cart in the hallway outside the lobby where you put your packages. Only issue being is no one is watching, so anyone could come in, steal the package, leave, with no one knowing. I left my package in the 'prepaid cart' like the clerk said, it's been 10+ days and my package has been scanned in but hasn't moved at all. This place is useless. read more

Will travel out of the neighborhood to NOT have to deal with the rude help. I've tried on several occasions to be friendly, say hello and take care of my postal business. Today, I just needed a small box to mail a baby gift. Picked one up, said "Hi, how are you?", no response. She rang it up... $3.29. I pulled out a $20 bill. Got this nasty look and "I don't got change!" Did not have my wallet and a credit card as I walked over. If you have someone dealing with customers, TEACH them to TREAT customers with a bit of respect. This Post Office is the WORST. I would give this a 0, if optional. A negative number seems more appropriate, though. Any positive reviews on yelp must be written by Eva himself. There is no way this person has the capacity to even the slightest bit professional. Always on phone, using earbuds, doesn't acknowledge customers, quotes incorrect prices, gives customers incorrect information and gets angry when questioned about it, rolls eyes, tells customers off, and is just plain rude, snide, angry, snarky, and venomous. Rudest person I've ever dealt with. There was a dog asleep behind the counter so I took a photo. I bring my dog to work & thought it was cute. The clerk (who wasn't even at the front desk for the first 5 minutes) finally came out & confronted me about taking photos of their dog. "COULD YOU NOT TAKE PHOTOS OF MY DOG". Excuse me? The woman who works at this post office should not be in a customer service job. She is extremely rude and takes pleasure in being difficult to customers. One time, I came in and, although the door was open, no one appeared to be working. She appeared in the foyer and I asked if they were closed. She refused to open the door to talk to me, even when I said I'm not communicating through the glass door. I opened the door so that we could have an adult conversation and she took a very dramatic step back as if it was not appropriate for me to open the door. Finally, she went to the register to process my package. Another time, I asked if I could have a piece of tape to seal my package. She said that they don't give out tape for free in a rude tone (which I later confirmed on the post office website). I sealed my package, but told her that her customer service skills need improvement. I was told to "have the day that I deserve" as I left. These passive aggressive comments, unwillingness to provide any help beyond her job description, and the snarky pins she wears makes this post office a nightmare to do business with. read more

Based on all the negative reviews between here and Google, I am amazed she still works there and has been for years. I live within walking distance to this location and would much rather drive to a further location just to avoid this miserable individual. If I could give this branch location zero stars I would. The person working, the only person working, is a horrible, horrible rude person. I dropped off a prepaid package that I weighed and measured at my office. It was returned to me saying postage due. I paid $28 and they are telling me I owe $77. I took it to a different branch and I was right. EXTREMELY rude woman at the front desk. I now see from other reviews that I'm not the only one. She closed the store early for lunch, refusing to let me mail my package before she stepped out. I was in line behind another woman, who finished up at 1:28pm, and the woman behind the desk said she was closing for lunch. When I said there were two more minutes left before closing time, she said it was her lunch time and that I should have gotten there sooner. She then kicked me (and my newborn, whom I'd literally RUN to the store with) out. Will never go back to this store. But that's probably what this woman wants -- not to have to serve any customers. read more

This is the type of place you walk into and hold your breath because you simply dread it (due to the customer service). I don't even bother speaking, I send what I need to send and leave. US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

This post office has an employee who regularly rips into the customers. I have witnessed this on several occasions. It is my guess that this young lady then has her friends write glowing reviews when the negative reviews start piling up. This girl is a beautiful and well dressed young woman, but she needs some kind of counseling, or she needs to be removed from the counter and placed at a job in the back of the post office. There have been negative reviews about this employee for several years, and, apparently, nothing has been done in response. I don't want to see anyone's job jeopardized, and I don't want to see anyone demoted, but I do think someone needs to address this behavior. No one enters the post office with the goal of wrestling with the counter clerk; it is my guess that there is some kind of psychological issue going on here, and it appears to sometimes manifest itself in unnecessary ugliness when the counter transactions occur. It is very similar to the kind of behavior parodied in Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" skits, and, while I've never been personally tackled, it is appalling to watch the behavior being directed at other customers. If she needs counseling, get it for her. If she needs to be reassigned, please reassign her. read more

The postal worker at this location has long been one of the rudest people around, but now I'm concerned that she doesn't wear a mask. I've seen her in the past with a mask only half on, but this week the mask was dangling from one ear. Despite the plastic screen, I don't feel safe in the small, unventilated space and now can't use this location any more. It's nice to have a P.O. right in Del Ray, but otherwise this is a rough location. The usual clerk is routinely brusque with customers, but on a recent visit they were not wearing a mask and were BLASTING music through speakers off a phone and only turned it down a little when customers came in. Don't waste your time. This post office is basically never open - it opens at 10 (more like 10:15), is closed from 1:30-2:30 for lunch (but I've been by around 1:15ish and it's already been closed) and closes at 4:30 (but sometimes you see the one-yes, there's only one, employee, locking the door as early as 4:00). I would love to use this post office because I can easily walk to it, but honestly it's worth driving the one mile to the wythe st location where they have competent staff, a self service machine, and hours that accommodate normal people's schedules. read more

This is my first time visiting this Post Office as I always visit the one in Pentagon City but having recently moved into the area, I thought I would give it a try. I walk in before 10:30AM and I'm the only one in there or so I thought because she was hiding behind the counter in a corner listening to music and didn't acknowledge when I said " GOOD MORNING". I asked simple questions and got "no " and "yes" answers before even I finished speaking. This was just terrible and completely insensitive as I had mentioned how I was sending emergency items to my family in Puerto Rico who have been affected by the hurricane. So listen EVA, if you don't wanna be there get another job. Specifically one that doesn't have you interact with customers because it's clearly not your thing. I'm sure there are others would love and appreciate a job at the post office.As for me, I will return to my usual USPS office. read more

I just left this USPS location . "EVA" the clerk with the long pink hair was absolutely horrible. She went out of her way to be rude and disrespectful. I walked in and she was right by the front door but I thought she was a customer because she did not even look up or greet me. The whole time I was there she barely responded to my questions, rolled her eyes so much I thought they would pop out of her eye sockets and when she replied she quick, dismissive and rude. Went to this post office today to send out some cards that had postage on them. The female working there was extremely rude and short with me. I had a couple questions about how much additional postage was needed to send them to another country. I asked if that was sufficient and she rudely said "nope". Then she proceeded to bend my cards as if this was going to weigh them for her. This employee should not be working in a client facing environment. I am very pleased with this office as always. I am a frequent customer who visits all the time for my small business. It's always decorated very nice and smells lovely. it seems as if the other few reviews are very Judgmental as it pertains to this young lady. She is one of the fastest Clerks that I've seen working at the post office and does the best that she can. and it is a rather comfortable setting. And we always have good conversation. I have been to plenty of other offices where the older women have been very stern and slow and will take years to get through the line. but she will get you in and out! I'm sure all of the other people on the reviews have not even had a simple conversation with this beautiful young lady! read more

I went on a Saturday around 11am. There was a little bit of a line, but the man working was cordial, knowledgeable, and efficient.

It's taken me a while to post a review but I have become so frustrated and annoyed by repeated negative experiences at this particular post office that I felt it was time to post a review in hopes that perhaps this employee will be removed (though let's be realistic, I doubt it will happen. Sadly the USPS isn't known for its stellar leadership and organizational culture, as seen by the fact that this employee has clearly been allowed to behave and treat customers as rudely as she likes for months now and still retain her position). I've never called out an individual in a review but the female employee at this post office consistently provides the worst service (as other reviewers have noted). Her name tag says "Eva" but she doesn't always wear it (tall, thin, young African American woman). She's the employee I've encountered on multiple trips to this particular post office. She has a terrible attitude and is rude to customers. She doesn't acknowledge when you say "hello" or "thank you" and she often rolls her eyes as though serving a customer isn't her job. She should be replaced with someone who would appreciate a job with the shortest hours I've ever seen (the post office is only open from 10:00-4:30 with a one hour closure for lunch. So she essentially works a 5.5 hour day. And oftentimes the post office opens late and is getting locked up early). She's lazy, rude, and comes to work with a permanent chip on her shoulder. If I was her supervisor she would have been fired months ago. read more
