When we showed up to pick…read moreit up, we were told the person who was supposed to drop off the truck the night prior didn't (No idea why no one bothered to call me or why they couldn't reach out to another budget location to secure the truck we needed) and they didn't have a 16' one. Guess that was the only one as the other one had a fuel issue. While my boyfriend was more understanding, I was immediately pissed. We had furniture waiting back at our apartment for the truck! They were only able to offer us a smaller truck and when I asked for a discount, we were told that couldn't be done but they gave us unlimited mileage (considering we would now have to make more trips) and moving blankets. Ok, I was still frustrated but happy they were able to do something about our situation. Fast forward and we drop off our truck to a budget location in Mesa ONLY to be told the guy wouldn't accept it because the lot was full. How is that our problem.. so we once again were inconvenienced and had to return the truck to a different location. I contacted corporate frustrated and finally was able to get us some compensation back. I will NEVER EVER use Budget again. Worst customer service and experience. If I didn't call and basically complain and be persistent nothing would have been done and judging from other comments here, this seems to be how they conduct business.

Zero attention to detail or pride in what they give customers. Customer service? Nonexistent. The so-called manager is more interested in sitting around than actually doing his job. No explanation of procedures, no urgency, just an "I don't care" attitude. It felt like I was inconveniencing them for picking up a rental I paid for. Ebony, one of the employees, might as well have been on autopilot. She just goes through the motions with no interest in helping or even being polite. She and the heavy-set manager seem more focused on chatting with each other than serving customers. This location needs a revamp, mostly new employees, but truly some actual consistency.

I had even called ahead of time several times just to make sure I had all my ducks in a row, but apparently there are no set guideline for procedures because different people kept telling me different things. All good until I go to pick up the truck. The staff at this Home Depot was not very organized and apparently they were having IT issues, which didn't bother me too much. I didn't like that they added over $70 in "taxes and fees ". A true bate and switch. A normal tax of 7-10% was expected but then store fees and short term rental fees?? This was a one way rental from Phoenix to Cincinnati?? Lastly the truck windshield and side mirrors were nasty dirty. I didn't plan to have to take time to go clean windows. Overall great start but less than acceptable finish.

In typical fashion, the assigned pickup was 10 miles further away dealing with commuter traffic. This location is an actual U-Haul facility. Big facility and nice staff, but soooo understaffed for the volume of rentals and returns. YOU WILL WAIT, so plan ahead. Even though I made the reservation with all important information, everything had to be re-entered as if I was a walk-in. After the paperwork was completed and I was ready to go....the trailer was not clean and no pads were supplied. As a side note, U-Hauls new texting/emailing system is far from effective. So much errant and delayed information. Pretty much useless. The value based on price and customer service is terrible. I just wish there was better options for one way moves.

They are very invasive as far as information they ask for, to create an account. Technology was horrible, took me forever and you have to be : 1- with your phone AND 2- AT THE LOCATION WHERE THE TRUCKS ARE!!! and after half hour of back and forth, it asked me to call a number which I was "on hold" until the nice lady inside, finished all my paperwork!!! There are also fees like $20 IF .. you return after hours, which I did not , but was not disclosed to me upfront, I just happened to see it on the receipt!!! they are extremely "pushy" in trying to sell you "Other services" on 3-5 screens, before you get to the final screen to finish your reservation.
