I got the breakfast roll and the lemon poppyseed waffles! Overall, this place was great! Lemon poppyseed waffles def stole the show though with presentation and taste! The breakfast roll wasn't bad, but I wasn't a fan of the thick slices bacon or the cheapie lettuce (it was the shredded lettuce that McDonald's uses). Service wasn't the best either. Popped in for dinner tonight - as a native New Yorker was so excited to welcome Two Hands to Austin! For dinner we had the Crispy Curry-spiced Calamari and Burrata Toast (my fav dish! Great flavor and perfectly riped tomatoes). Portions were generous, so we definitely could of done with just one. For mains, we had the Scallops with Squash Risotto and Bay Shrimp Tagliatelle. Again, portions are generous, especially with the risotto but it was all delicious and wish I could have finished it all. Service was okay, the waiter was very deadpan and wasn't very polite. My biggest issue was that I wanted to order the breakfast burrito, just without mushrooms. The waiter said that the kitchen does not modify any of the menu items. I thought that was ridiculous, and it makes me think the burrito was pre-made. Even if it isn't, I've never been denied a simple request like that before. Secondly, I wanted a soda, and saw bottles Coke on the menu (no soft drinks are offered). I ordered it, the waiter said ok and moved on. He came back with my drink, and it was a miniature bottle, like maybe half of the size of a regular bottle of Coke. There was no size listed on the menu, and the waiter said nothing about the size. I was not warned about this and the cap was already removed. Overall, I was not a fan of this experience and do not recommend this place. Maybe I just had bad luck, but I did not have a good experience. read more

When I was visiting my daughter in Austin, she led me to a new part of South Congress, called SOCO ATX. or the Music Lane area. They have plenty of underground parking for a small fee, so that you can browse several lovely upscale shops, visit the great new hotel, or have a meal. We chose Two Hands, right on Congress, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee time, or dinner, on the patio or indoors. It is a very cute neighborhood 'gem'. We chose dinner. The service was great, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was fun, and and we didn't have any trouble getting a reservation. I chose the Bay Shrimp Tagliatella. It was really good! It was made with their homemade tagliatella pasta, an ample amount of bay shrimp, and creamy crustacean and saffron rose sauce. The sauce was perfect, and so was the pasta, not too heavy and very enjoyable. I loved this dish! I was so 'into' my dinner, that I forgot what my daughter ordered. We will definitely return to the Music Lane area and of course to Two Hands! read more

Had the best brunch here !! We didn't have reservations anywhere and decided to stop here without knowing much about the place so i didn't have many expectations - wow it was so so great!!! Definitely one of my new favorite places. We actually ended to coming back a few hours later for cocktails. Paloma was our waitress and she was the BEST- seriously. She provided excellent service and was just so much fun. Definitely get the banana bread !! If I could give two hands more stars I would! This place the perfect brunch spot in Austin, TX hands down! It is also a great place for a sweet coffee date or quick lunch spot. I need to go there for dinner to give you some insight as to how that would be, but I'm sure it will be fabulous! I highly recommend the Açaí Bowl or the Wagyu Steak & Eggs (I mean, a girl needs both in her world). This spot is so cute and tasteful right in the heart of the new Soco area. I am OBSESSED with their vanilla latte. It's so so creamy and probably one of my favorites I've ever had. Went for a friend's bachelorette dinner and the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. They would leave us for 15min at a time, not checking to see if we needed anything or if we wanted to even order. When the drinks finally came out after us being there for 30 min with no table settings or even water refills while we waited, the waiter dropped one of the drink's limes on the table and didn't clean it up or even replace it... they didn't even offer to do so. Food came out after another long wait and the order's ingredients were mixed up. The waiter suggested that we swap the mixed up ingredients out ourselves instead of taking them back to the kitchen... however we still weren't given silverware or napkins to even do so. The waiters came back out and started closing up the patio an hour before the restaurant was supposed to close. They didn't even bother to take our finished plates away until we had to ask... and they didn't ask if we wanted refills for our drinks. We ended up having to go find the waiters to request/give back the check after they disappeared again. In fact, other tables were having to do the same. It wasn't even a crowded night. The place looks very cute inside, though I felt a little cramped in our area, even as a smaller than average person. You could be getting other conversations from your neighbors in stereo as I did, but I could deal with it considering it was a busy time of day. The food was hit and miss. The latte was delicious, as was the (surprisingly large) hash brown and their signature hot sauce. The BEK sandwich had far less crispy bacon than comes standard any other place I've been (not terrible for me but just odd mouth feel), and super dry bread that I could not eat after a couple bites even with added butter. My partner enjoyed her breakfast plate a lot more than me, but also wasn't thrilled with the lack of crisp for the bacon. I don't usually complain about food, but I wasn't even given the opportunity here as no one asked how the food was, even when they wordlessly left the bill at the end (with my abandoned bread taking up my otherwise empty plate). For the price, I understand S. Congress is a whole different place than even 3 years ago, but I'd suggest any place would have to justify ~$50 on two relatively small plates and one coffee with a more consistent quality across their menu items and/or better service. read more

A group of 8 women graced this establishment last weekend for a bachelorette party, and we would like to extend a sincere appreciation to our waiter Seth, who really brought the energy and dramatic vibes (in a fun way). Unfortunately, a lot of the appetizers the group wanted were unavailable that night. Seth had to keep coming back with a sad puppy look on his face, saying that we'd have to pick other items, but it eventually became a funny bit, and he hooked us up with some extra sourdough so no harm no foul. Additionally, he brought out the very cute chef, who we would like to extend an apology to for screaming "DADDY" in unison at him from across the patio. My sister got the build a breakfast, which she had eggs and bacon with sourdough. The bacon wasn't as crispy but not bad. This was a simple breakfast. The last thing we ordered was a banana walnut bread. My sister loves mascarpone and banana walnut so this was perfect for her! This was a disappointment once we tried. The bread was VERY DRY, which made the texture not even bread like where it's supposed to be soft and moist. The mascarpone was very delicious! I wish the bread was moist and soft. This would have been perfect, not sure if it was old bread but it was very dry and stale. Overall everything tasted great. I just wish the banana nut bread was what we thought it would have been. I have been avoiding anything but kind reviews during COVID but for an overpriced chain, I feel it's a duty to set proper expectations. I called in an order to-go. Two Hander Burger $16 & Salmon Quinoa Bowl $18 I was told it would take 45 minutes. I walked to Two Hands with my dog and arrived about 35 minutes after I ordered. They have a to-go window which seemed perfect since I couldn't go inside with my dog. I waited at the to-go window and made eye contact with the barista who, without opening the window, pointed me down the street toward the restaurant next door, Aba. There was also a sign next to the patio at Two Hands that said "see our hostess inside the entrance to Aba". I walked to Aba, and spoke with the Aba hostess who had no clue why Two Hands had sent me down the street to her restaurant. She walked with me back to Two Hands and we both tried to get the barista to open the window but without success. Confused, I called the number for Two Hands, explained I was outside waiting on my order, and they immediately brought my order out. I walked home (I live at Mary and S. Congress about 5min away) and opened up my order. The box with my burger and fries was cold, having clearly been finished about five minutes after I ordered. The cold fries are soaked in some sort of chile oil which left the bottom bun to the burger a saturated, cold, sad, oily piece of bread. The wagyu patties, also cold, were probably perfectly prepared 40 minutes ago and but had continued to cook in the box until chewy and overdone. We were seated inside but there is also seating outstanding de on the patio. Looking at the menu I would say it's best described as cafe food with a modern twist. I started with a mimosa and cold brew coffee while I waited for my food during brunch. I decided to go with the lamb torts and my partner went with the poppyseed waffle. Hands down the presentation on his waffle best mine by a mile! As for my sandwich it was definitely a little too stuffed as it was difficult to eat without making a mess everywhere. Overall the food was good & the experience was decent but I will say service could be a bit improved as we waited quite awhile for our food.
