Joe Cool has finally visited the Two Chicks! That was whatI did on my second day and morning in Reno and head outside and south of the haunted downtown area. You don't need to stay and dine at a casino. Even cities like Reno have good grubs too. You can make a clear argument that every city has good restaurants. And Reno is not all about gambling and being a victim of second-hand smoking. The Two Chicks diner is located in this family-friendly plaza. Reno has started to be a benevolent to families within the last few years. I hope the transformation will erase the bad image into a positive for Reno. When I walk in, I saw a list of specials for both breakfast and lunch. One of the breakfast specials did catch my attention. And without any hesitation, I ordered the Barbecue pulled pork Benedict with a side of a vegetable frittata. For $14.99, I get tender BBQ shredded pork and a soft boiled egg on a toasted sourdough muffin and covered with a creamy Hollandaise sauce. The shredded pork was very tender with bits of end pieces that add excitement. The combine mixture was very exceptional. The vegetable frittata has assorted shredded vegetable grilled into a patty. I also like this side too. The waitress was very nice and recommended this special to me. She also has great awareness when Joe Cool needs a refill of coffee too. The coffee is from Reno and a fair-trade blend too. This diner also do alcoholic beverage to start your morning too. With the name and ingredients in some of these concoction, you better be not working. I was here on a weekday and the crowd and wait were not too bad. If you want to start your day with a solid meal, you might want to consider eating here as oppose to the downtown area. read more

Really cute spot! The food was solid- lots of unique Benedict's and sandwiches. I would recommend the sourdough blueberry pancakes! The other dish we got was the Caprese Benedict which was really unique and definitely delicious if you're looking for something more unique. This spot was very disappointing. It was my 1st time here. The wait to be seated is very long. It's ridiculous! I was told by the hostess it will be a 45 minutes wait. I decided to wait so I can try it. And because it had a 4.6 star rating. I waited 1 hour 50 minutes to be seated. They take reservations which, I wasn't aware of. The reservations come first before seating the people that are waiting. They don't have a sign stating that about reservations or that they do reservations. Which I think they should, for 1st timers. Then while I was waiting to be seated the manager came outside and stated "It's going to be 1 hour and 45 minutes wait. We have another location were you can go to. They have a 35 minutes wait there. You can go there." The food was bland not savory it needed salt/ seasoning. I would recommend the fresh squeeze orange juice very good. I had the famous Apple Cinnamon French Toast. I did not taste NO apples! Just plain cinnamon bread. I would recommend to make a reservation so you won't have to wait soooo long. I would not be returning! read more

Having breakfast at Two Chucks is a must. It is really 'good home' cooking with friendly people to greet, take your order, and hats off to the short order cooks. The variety of food on their menu makes you want to come back over and over to try other other well prepared foods to satisfy your appetite and more than enough food to leave with an excellent way to start your day. Happy to have found this place for several reasons. The food is very good, I appreciate the small touches that point to a conscious effort to reduce waste and single use plastics...cloth napkins, coffee cream in metal pitchers and paper cups for side condiments. Our party of 7 made it to 2 chicks for breakfast this morning. We got there early because all of the reviews said to, thankfully they were right because the line formed shortly after we we're seated, I got the biscuits & gravy great biscuit but the gravy was lacking & the piece of ham was teeny tiny lol. But it was all still very good. The wife got breakfast tacos & I blinked & they were gone so she approves, I tried a few bites of the pancakes & they had a very distinctive taste that I thought was great. Our server Ashley had it on lock down & made sure multiple times we were good. Highly recommend this place for breakfast but before 9 or you'll be out in the cold waiting! read more

Best vegan breakfast I've had in Reno or South Lake! They use Just Egg to substitute any omelet or just as eggs by themselves. The sweet potato hash had delicious green peppers cooked alongside them and the vegan pancakes were a perfect dessert. Be prepared to wait. We waited awhile for mediocre breakfast lol luckily there was a mexican restaurant next door where we enjoyed our michelada's while waiting. we went based on yelp reviews. We try to try a new breakfast place every Reno Trip. The catchy name is what got me in the door. While we were waiting for our table, I learned about the Champagne Campaign, & that's when I fell in love with this place!! I love that they partner with local orgs and my purchase of a mimosa helped support the cause. We went on a cold Reno morning, and outdoor mimosa pub was closed but they opened it for us, which I thought was really sweet. The food was great. The service was amazing. Came here for breakfast with friends on a Sunday morning. Tons of people also had this wonderful idea! A huge line waiting but wait time was not as long as they suggested and we very quickly were seated. Note ~The wait line gets to enjoys a cup of coffee.Do allow walking time once you have parked as parking in Midtown is an issue on a busy day. Interesting menu with lots of delicious choices for everyone. Our meals arrived quickly and all were as ordered. Pleasant staff and refills came without having to beg! I chose coming back here as on our first visit here, we arrived at 1:45 pm for a quick lunch. We were seated and I noticed they closed at 2 pm. About 1:55 pm, a couple walked in, the hostess looked to the person in charge who said we are open till 2 pm. the couple were seated and served. Most importantly, they were not even advised we close at 2 pm and are being so gracious and letting you eat your lunch here regardless. I loved my breakfast at Two Chicks. My friend and I enjoyed some oversized mimos's and the croque madam sandwiches. The sandwiches were huge and really delicious. We had these amazing parmesan fries and an aoli dip that was a little more sophisticated than ranch dressing, but still herby and salty and yummy!!! (I like to feel pretend classy). The area has some tight parking so think ahead about where to park. I love the little area that it's located in, cute boutiques, and shops to wander around, because figure on a pretty long wait. read more

Came here for the first time, and the food was just okay. I expected I bit more after seeing all the reviews from Yelp. We ordered chilaquiles, Chorizo & eggs, and kids French toast combo with sausage. The meats seems to be way too over cooked. The chilaquiles wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be. It taste just like tortilla chips with ground meat & salsa. The French toast was undercook and does not taste like a French toast. Delicious breakfast and huge portions. I came here for breakfast while I was recently in town. I ordered coffee and the harvest omelet. The coffee is from a local roaster which makes a huge difference. The omelet was enormous and came filled with sausage, roasted butternut squash, sage, and cheese. The hashbrowns were crispy and seasoned well. The toast (which I typically don't eat at restaurants) was well worth it and came served with a house blueberry vanilla butter. Visiting from out of town and found it on Yelp. So glad we did and we ate breakfast here two days in a row on our trip. We were a mix of vegan and non-vegans so everyone was happy. I really love that I could get vegan egg substitute in any of the omelets or scrambles, as I prefer this over a tofu scramble. Coffee was great and they had non-dairy milk option. People in our party had the chilaquiles, omelets, BLT, scone, and fruit cup. Everyone was happy and satisfied with their food. My only complaint is they add Parmesan to the hash browns, which is my preferred breakfast potato. That left me (vegan) with the white sweet potato home fries as the only potato option. The veggie fritters also have Parmesan. Sweet potatoes are okay, but they were way too sweet for what I wanted in the morning with my scramble.
