Everything here tastes very fresh. I had the Hatchery eggwich, and they did not skimp on the goat cheese. It was a bit messy but I had not issue deconstructing and enjoying it that way. My friend had a smoked turkey omelette and felt that the amount of vegetables and flavors were adequate. She noted that everything tasted very fresh. We both really enjoy the creamy grits, it tastes like it has cheese in it already. Their fresh made drinks are delicious and our server kept them flowing. My friend's drink was the lemonade cucumber, which was refreshing, tasty and delicious. I had the orange tea which is a great balance between citrus and the herbal elements. There was for sure a wait during our visit, but I think it was worth it. You can tell that the staff work hard and do the best they can to make sure customers are satisfied. I see why this place it so popular - outside of it being by a cruise terminal - and I would come back. read more

So happy! This summed up the breakfast meal I was hoping for visiting New Orleans. I ordered the grits bowl with over easy eggs and andouille sausage. FANTASTIC. Overall so well made, not too bland, not too salty, just yummy perfection. The grits were deliciously cheesy, the vegetables were delicious, the sausage was great, my eggs got slightly over cooked in some parts but that doesn't bother me. Came out hot! Take your time but it's hard because it's so good My bf got the French toast. He liked them but we both didn't like the cornflakes added. For both of us it affected the texture like coconut consistency, I don't like that. Maybe a little added sweetness. But the bread is actually very delicious and well made plus the fresh fruit. If it was possible I would ask to ditch the cornflakes because again it's a good bread. He got a cappuccino he said was pretty strong, I got a cold brew,good body, and paid for a side of almond milk. We arrived on a Saturday at 10, it was slightly busy but we got sat right away. Could be luck, def by 1045/11 there was a long line. The food came out a normal quick time for a busy Saturday. And the ambience, mom and pops. Servers were nice enough for how busy they are. We did almost a 10 min walk from our Cambria Hotel. Not bad at all. Not sure how parking would be. Also two drinks, non dairy charge, 2 entrees with added meat all came out to 40$ can't be that in this climate. read more

We got seated pretty quickly, and our server was very attentive. I ordered the Kickin Chicken Omelette with potatoes and salsa on the side. You get a good amount of food, and it's delicious! I ordered a cold brew which came with free refill which is amazing. The place was decorated nicely with fun paintings and offered both table and booth seating. Definitely recommend! read more

Cute little spot near the convention center. They are open for breakfast and lunch. I chose to have a lunch. I have the chicken brie pesto Panini. It was really good. The cheese was melted and the flavors mixed together were really good. It had a crunchy bread so it was very happy. It came with a small salad that was well dressed. I also had the unsweetened iced tea. It was well brewed and my waitress made sure that it was always filled. This place is hopping at lunchtime, but you don't feel rushed. Seating is benches with lots of pillows and table and chairs. The people around me seemed happy with their orders too. I felt it was well priced. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch to the cafe. Place was packed so we ate at Twi Chicks Taco which was right next door and have the quesadilla and was able to order hand crafted margaritas which was the perfect match for lunch. read more

This just wasn't it for me. It was exciting to have a brunch spot this close to our hotel. I stopped in and the location is somewhat strange but the area dedicated to the restaurant is nice. The service was ok. I was greeted immediately but when I wanted to place my to go order, everyone was very busy. It only took about 15 min after I placed my order to receive my food. I ordered the crab cake Benedict. I didn't like it. I should've gotten it with grits but I was headed to the convention. The crab cake was more of a bread pattie/bun with crab. More bread than crab. Not how we make it in South Carolina. It came on a croissant - different than normal but I was willing to try. It wasn't toasted. The Cajun hollandaise was nice but one of my poached eggs was over cooked. Maybe I caught them at a bad time. I wouldn't go back. read more

The food was so nice, we came here twice! But seriously the food was delicious! We were in town for a conference and this place was across the street from the convention center. It was a quick walk to the place. The first day I ordered the Barnyard Eggwich, which was smoked turkey, egg, and herbed cream cheese on a marble rye for $7.99. I ordered it with a side of roasted potatoes. This was so good! Great ingredients and prepared fresh! The second day I ordered the Breakfast Poboy, which was andouille sausage, eggs, Gouda cheese, grilled onions, and spicy mayo served on French bread. I swapped out the spicy mayo for regular mayo. I ordered this was a side of the roasted potatoes. This was excellent! So much flavor! Service was excellent! Would definitely come back and highly recommend! read more

Being in town for a conference, my coworkers and I stopped into Two Chicks before starting our morning at the convention center. It was crowded when we arrived (because of the conference), but we quickly learned most of the crowd was for to go service. Since we decided to eat in, we found a table pretty quickly. On your table, there is a basket with butter, jams, creamer, and napkins. Service was friendly and quick, which was ideal for us. My sandwich was SO GOOD! I added bacon to The Hatchery and would get it again if I was local. read more

Was here attending a conference at the convention center and this breakfast spot was conveniently walkable from the hotel we were staying and the convention center. Breakfast is served all day here, highly recommend trying if you are in the area :) All omelets and benedicts come with choice of creamy grits, roasted potatoes or fruit and toast. CRAB CAKE BENEDICT: A popular item, this benedict comes with your classic poached eggs, crab cake, and cajun hollandaise on a croissant. I chose to try the creamy grits, just not my personal preference and I plan on getting fruit next time. My husband got the same and chose fruit, which came with a bowl of fresh strawberries and banana. read more

Went to the original location near the convention center. Cute & cozy atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Place is so good we ate 2 days in a row. I had the Under the Sea omelet loaded with shrimp and crab meat. It normally comes with brie, bell pepper, green onion and dill. I swapped out the brie for smoked Gouda....served with thick slabs of rye bread and a side ( I chose grits). It was sooooo good I had it the next day with Gruyere cheese. The grits were so creamy and excellent too. My bro had Eggs Benedict on a croissant which he thoroughly enjoyed. Great coffee; fresh squeezed juices including Boost type blends ( ginger, etc) They also serve lunch.\ It's a small menu but super large on flavor and creativity. Cute little brunch spot tucked away next to the convention center. We were here for the conference at said convention center so naturally it was quite busy. Despite that we only had to wait for 5 minutes and were able to sneak two spots by the bar. The staff there was evidently quite overwhelmed and the pace just never really died down the whole time we were there. We got a farmhouse omelette and the crab cake eggs benedict on croissant and they were both phenomenal. The taste on the omelette was complex and rich, paired perfectly with the rosemary-infused potatoes and toast. The Benedict was also poached to perfection and had just the right amount of yolk spilling into the crab cake to generate a beautiful and gooey flavor that really makes the tastebuds explode. Possibly the heartiest brunch I've ever had. I'd give this place 5 stars on the food alone but the team seemed to buckle under pressure from the sheer volume of customers that day. We had to repeatedly ask for utensils, service was chaotic and a bit disorganized, and it took a very long time to get the bill. The team has potential but needs a bit more experience. tldr; excellent brunch place at an amazing price. Definitely recommend for a hearty meal read more

If you are attending a conference, this is a great option. We were also staying at the hotel within a walking distance, so we ate here a few times because of convenience. It can get very crowded during lunch hours (we did go during conference week). Most of the items we tried on the menu were good. I was not the biggest fan of thai shrimp poboy. It felt very soggy. I liked their green blast juice. The only downside is that it is $9 for such a small cup! Orange mint sweet tea was good. If you are in the mood for an omelet, the sea omelet was good Their chicken panini was decent. Again, might not be the tastiest food ever, but everything tasted pretty good & it was convenient. read more

This spot is super cute and much bigger than it looks from the outside. The host was so kind and attentive and we were able to get a table fairly quickly despite it being Saturday during brunch hours. BAM! Perfect spot for coffee and happily discovered crepes on the menu! This place buzzes with a great vibe and energy. Busy staff take their time to great you, treat you and celebrate their passion for service and good food. This is is a very convenient location as it is located close to the Convention Center and there are cruise pickup/drop offs right outside this building. We arrived around 10am on a Saturday and were seated within 5 minutes although the restaurant was packed. The cold brew is strong! I saw many people order smoothies or juices which is a great option for a hot day (going through a heat wave upon our visit in June). I got the BELT Eggwich which was awesome, I practically inhaled this sandwich. I did not detect much jalapeño on the bread but overall, this is a classic egg breakfast sandwich. My fiancé got the Farmhouse Omelet which was very tasty. There were lots of tomatoes and the smoked turkey was great. This was a short distance from our hotel and was recommended by a staff member. It was suggested to try the shrimp and grits!! Once there, we were immediately greeted and seated, party of 5 around 10am on a Monday. The decor was cute and simple. The staff was friendly and very helpful with the menu selection. I was immediately impressed at the menu stating only fresh squeezed juice. I can't remember which one I had but it had Fiji apple in it and it was sweet and very delicious. May cousin had a smoothie and said it too was good and was tasting the vanilla. Someone else ordered apple juice and that for sure, was fresh squeezed apple juice. The Thai Po'Boy was very tasty, almost like a sweet chili sauce but with no heat to it. It was delicious. I tasted the shrimp and grits and OMG, they were the best. Not everyone can make grits but this cooked knew what they were doing. Consistency was on point, shrimp cooked and seasoned perfectly and toasted bread. It was so filling. Our UBER driver recommended this place and because we were planning on going to the convention center to tour the Louisiana Civil Rights Museum this was very convenient. Place gets crowded fast. They serve breakfast all day. Location: there are 2 locations. This one is located inside a building w other restaurants. A key is needed for the restroom which is shared w other tenants Food: I had the Papa's French toast. The toasts were thick and delicious dipped in vanilla rum. I opted not to have powdered sugar. My daughter had the potato bowl w andouille sausage and side sourdough and sunny side eggs. My sis and mom shared the under the sea omelette w side sourdough bread. They both enjoyed their dish cooked just right. The Grits was very, very good that we all shared it. Price: is very reasonable. Staff: she was very nice, patient and attentive. Venue: very busy restaurant. I'm sure they get a lot of ppl from the convention center. It's clean. I recommend this place. Enjoy! read more

My first meal here in New Orleans and it was right around the corner from my hotel. You can't make reservations, just walk in and stand by the little em booth and wait to be seated. Luckily, the wait is wasn't long and we were able to be seated within 10/15 minutes. Our server was really nice and it seems like everyone in there worked as a team. Now next, this bomb breakfast: ~ Bacon and Andouille Sausage - Soooooooo good! ~ Creamy Grits - definitely creamy and had a wonderful flavor. ~ Papas French Toast - TOP TIER. Crispy on the outside and soft and delicious inside ~ Eggs - eggs are eggs lol Overall, I would definitely come back and have a nice meal one day! I would love to try lunch one day! read more

This is my wife's favorite brunch spot. It's a nice spot to get you a simple breakfast/brunch. The service is always good, all the waitress are very nice! The place gives a cool colorful hippy vibe. The food is great you know what to expect every-time you go, they are very consistent. The Under the Sea Omelet is a beast stuffed with Shrimp & Crab they don't short you on the seafood. Thats a plus most restaurants wouldn't do that. The pancakes are made good as well they have a nice brown Carmel color, and they are very sweet. Overall this spot is real solid if you're looking for a nice brunch! read more

I ordered the Under the Sea Omelette. The picture doesn't do justice as this omelette was MASSIVE. There must have been 12 eggs in the omelette. It was very tasty and delicious; however very heavy and rich. The dish could have easily been shared by two people. The service was great and our waitress kept checking in on us and refilling our coffees. We went on a Friday so the line wasn't too bad. However when we walked past the restaurant on Saturday the line was down the block, so plan accordingly! read more

Just arrived in town the night before. We were so happy to discover that this well regarded place was close to our hotel in the Warehouse District. Walked on over. It was a bit hard to find because it was inside a commercial building. Coffee was outstanding as was the breakfast Po Boy that we shared, along with a side of delicious cheesy grits and a side of fresh fruit. Plenty for two! The service was friendly and helpful. We left happy to set off on our first day of adventures in NOLA! The other reviewers are right! Get on over there! read more

The café came to life by Two Chicks who love to eat. We are two friends who have a passion for food and a love for New Orleans. It wasn't easy to put the dream to reality, but we couldn't have done it without the support of our handyman husbands. Everything from the tables you eat on to the juice you drink, and the menu you choose from has been hand crafted by the Two Chicks. Offering items such as fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, breakfast, artisan sandwiches and salads, we want to share the uniqueness of New Orleans and make our customers feel like family. Located on the corner of S. Diamond & Fulton St.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Then the tufa crudo - so fresh and flavorful, the crab tartlets - fine, but not as good as the other dishes; excellent salad, and the broccolini in a housemade horseradish goat cheese sauce - wow; one of the best broccolini dishes we have had. The carrots looked amazing, too. What a treat!
