    Creamy Grits

We were looking for a breakfast place to sit down and have a bite to eat. They were quite busy and we waited a while for a table. We also waited a little while for our food as to how busy they were. It was OK, the veggie Benedict was flavorful, but kind of one note. The potatoes were standard and the crêpes are probably the most delicious part of our meal. The grits were a little bit too creamy if that's possible! Not my favorite I've had in my lifetime. We also never got water and waited almost to the end of our meal for it. The service was OK but they were just busy. It also was a bit warm inside, which was odd as I think they had the air-conditioning going. Not sure we would return again.

Everything we ordered was delicious! I got an omelette with ham, bacon, cheddar and a side of fruit and gluten free toast. The portions are large as well.

Thank you, Yelpers, for turning me on to a great diner. Beautiful space, friendly ladies, GREAT FOOD, water, and coffee. Ate the custom omelette: Gruyere cheese, mushrooms, green spinach. Plus potatoes and toast. I could only eat half of it. I needed my coffee or I would have loved Cucumber Lemonade or European cocktails made with Prosecco (Italian white wine with a fruity flavor). Really, this place is beautiful, calm, and interesting. Enjoyed my coffee and omelette very much (:

Two Chicks Café is near the port and convention center, tucked inside a large commercial building. The space has a bright, modern feel with plenty of natural light, cheerful colors, and a clean, welcoming vibe. There's a mix of tables and booths, and the layout feels open without being crowded. It was already busy when we stopped in for breakfast, which says a lot about its popularity. Once we were seated, the service was fast and friendly. The food came out quickly, which was great since the place was full. Everything we ordered was really good. My son loved his Nutella crepe and pointed out it had more Nutella than most places we've tried, so it's perfect if you've got a sweet tooth. The omelet and Benedict were both well made and full of flavor. It's easy to see why this café draws a steady crowd. A bright and lively spot with good food and friendly service.

The second location of Two Chicks Cafe on Gravier was one of the first brunch places I visited when I moved to New Orleans. It always stood out to me as having a unique Eggs Benedict, using a croissant instead of the traditional English Muffin. I've been to this location a couple of times. It's tucked away inside of a hallway and you kind of have to know it's there. The space is limited but they do squeeze a few tables into that space and they can accommodate multiple sized groups. If you are there with one or two people the bar is available for a fun experience. I decided to venture away from my favorite Eggs Benedict and got the Under the Sea Omelet. And I switched out the toast for a croissant to make up for it. The omelet was good but didn't hit the spot like I knew the Eggs Benedict would. The croissant was disappointing by itself. Service: Good! The server was quick to respond. Drinks: Definitely many options here. Outside Seating: Nope. Parking: Paid parking and a little tough with it being next to the convention center.

First breakfast cafe in nola and I am surprisingly shocked at how delicious everything was. The french toast has cornflakes on it so it makes it crunchy and flavorful. My bf thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The french toast were thick and very filling. I recommend to share this with others because it's dense. 10/10 The bbq shrimps & grits was delightful. I never had grits and so I wanted to try it. I loved the flavor of the whole dish. Very well balanced and not overpowering of bbq. The dish is very filling. I could not finish it. 10/10 The portions here are pretty big. I recommend to share it amongst one another. The cafe is a cozy small cafe shop. There's quite a bit of seats and also counter top seating too. The service was good. They are really nice and attentive.

Finding good food in New Orleans had been SO disappointing & I didn't have any kind of high hope for stopping in somewhere quick and nearby while working the convention center. But this place was SUCH a nice surprise! Servers were awesome, place is easily within walking distance, and the place feels so clean with a nicely extensive menu! We took our order to go, and were met with a HUGE plate when we got back to work, and everything was DELICIOUS and felt and tasted home made. Thanks for this lovely gem gals!!!

Great cafe near the convention center. Was in town for work and found this place to be a great option for a healthy or not so healthy breakfast. I live that they offer fresh juice, smoothies and chia pudding. All were great! Loved the French toast!! Sooo good!! The second time I stopped in I tried the crab cake eggs Benedict. I was mixed on this dish. I think it was kinda dry and needed more sauce. Also my eggs were too well done. Sort of like hard boiled poached eggs. Grits were nice and cheesy.

Cute little cafe that has a lot of character and large menu. The space is very small with limited seating, but we were thrilled to find a cute place for breakfast within walking distance. Service was friendly and the food service was quick! Food & latte was delicious! Highly recommend.

This is an example of why you shouldn't go to sports in touristy areas during peak times. We got here around 12:45pm on a Friday and had a good experience. W returned at noon on Saturday and boooy, was that a mistake. The line stretched around the block and we waited for an hour to get seated. Located in a nondescript business/store front complex, this spot was not easy to find. It is super casual and does not seat a lot of people. Both days, service was horrible. Severely understaffed. Felt bad for the team that had to be so overwhelmed. We never got water or utensils until we asked over and over and over again. Had to wait for staff forever for anything. Be prepared for an up charge for any egg dishes. Seafood egg Benedict was disappointing. Barely any Hollandaise on each egg. Crabcakes were dry and bland. Shrimp and grits were delicious. This Friday meal was solid. Fried chicken club sandwich was delicious on Friday. On Saturday, it was inedible. Served cold (for how long has it been sitting on a counter?) Burnt chicken and burnt bacon, wilted, old tomato, barely any sauce, soggy, stale bread with finger dents. I wanted to cry, because I waited over an hour for this and what we got left a sour aftertaste. This spot closes at 2, so at 1:40, staff are sweeping and washing floors and making every harried effort to get remaining customers to leave. I felt super rushed both times. Very disappointing. Later after that upsetting Saturday burnt sandwich, my intestines started acting up, so I spent quite an hour on the toilet. I have a stomach of steel, so it takes a LOT for me to get any kind of indigestion/diarrhea. Sadly, ruined day.

This place was small and cute. We had about a 10min wait but it didn't seem like we waited that long. Our server was very prompt and polite. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, strawberry & cream crepes, build ur own omelette, and cafe breakfast. The food came out fast, fresh, and full of flavor. Its def a must try place and a New Orleans gem

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Dinner was good, but probably would have been great had the service been better. (The manager and the server apologized, and if we had more time were willing to comp a meal if we could revisit. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day, so they did the next best thing: they comped almost half of our bill. WELL DONE!) The restaurant is very inviting with parlors and an atrium. The tables are spaced well apart for noise and a possible romantic dinner/Breakfast. :-) Once seated, the server was working very hard but found us. (They may have been short since the jazz festival was in town) She took our drink orders, which arrived quickly. She explained the menu and let us think about our choice. The drinks were Flaura and Fauna, and Ballad Inventory. Both were unique and tasty. When our server returned, we ordered all of our items. We ordered Chicken under a brick and Braised Short Ribs for entrees. We ordered Roasted Mushrooms, Charred Broccoli, and Dinner Rolls. The Kitchen fell short in timing as rolls arrived at the end of our meal, and a few dishes were lukewarm at best. When refired, they were very good. ( See above) The meal itself and the surroundings were good. At the end of our meal, the manager and the server came over and apologized and told us they would be talking to the team. When the bill arrived, the manager had comped more than half of our total bill *( drinks, bread, mushrooms... $ 168 to $85). We didn't expect this, but it shows how much they care to make things right with customers. Elysian Bar and Restaurant is worth visiting, and you should visit for dinner or breakfast. ,
