i was in the mood for a lunch in the Carrollton area - I forgot to check because this was actually in the Downtown Carrollton area and I forgot about the parking situation - luckily, I went around 330pm and there weren't too many people out and about in the area and so I found parking right next to the bar side of the restaurant. (The parking structure was blocked by construction - what can I do haha). It's kinda weird how they have their setup because their ordering area is in a whole different section that looked to be near some apartment complex area? So there's the main entrance where you order. I was so confused and I asked someone .. do I just sit? Where do I order. LOL. Getting to the menu, I went for their lots-a-shroom: garlic baby bello mushrooms & aged swiss. There were so many options you could do, upgrade to their free range Texas wagyu or Texas buffalo ($3), substitute with an exotic meat, them having a "BYO" which looked like a lot of fun... but I didn't want to end up with a $20 burger haha. They even have different buns to choose from too, along with a decent amount of sides and drinks as well. I stuck and defaulted everything to normal. Except added guac ($1 extra). Cuz I love guac. Also, do I live in a world where guac costing extra is normal? I blame you Chiptole. Anywho, it took around 10 minutes for the food to come out. They had given me a placard with someone's face on it, but I forgot who. But that's how they find you LOL. There are some BBQ sauce, spicy sauce, ketchup, and one or two other sauces that are on each table, along with paper towels. (If you want other sauces, you can order from the menu). Burger wise, I loved the meat. It was a bit more substantial. What does that mean? Not much. It wasn't a thin piece (but it's a burger! They're not thin!) but no, it had an extra umph to it - it had more flavor profile in the patty itself and I actually enjoyed it a lot. The guac was a bit on the "needs lemon/lime" to it but passable. The mushrooms and sauce were good but kinda wish I had more (but then maybe it wouldn't fit..hmm). I would probably come back to one of their other locations and try their bison or elk! Sounds like a fun time haha. read more

Awesome burgers ! I was in Dallas for work for a week and was recommended to come here for their burgers. Was I happy that I did ! They have a great pickle bar! Which Who doesn't love pickles ! The bread and butter pickles were my favorite and they also had an interesting barrel of ranch pickles and a few more. I had the freshman 15 burger which included a fried egg on top. Yummy ! Was really One of the best burgers I've had in awhile. I also ordered this bourbon infused BBQ sauce that they make and it was so good that I bought one to take home. Thanks for the great experience and will be back if I'm in Dallas again read more

Located right in downtown Carrollton on Main. Hubby and I went here for dinner on a Saturday. Not too crowded. Follow signs for the "Kitchen" to place an order at the counter. Here's what we got: LOTS-A-SHROOM burger-Garlic Baby 'Bello Mushrooms & Aged Swiss (YUM YUM YUM!) FRESHMAN 15 burger-Smashed fries on top, melted cheddar, fried egg & bacon (egg was overcooked and dry, bacon was extremely salty, but the burger was DELISH)! Sides are not included so we ordered a side of fried pickles and fries. Both were good -- had a nice crisp to it. 2 burgers, 2 sides, 2 beers = around $36 Complimentary pickles with a variety of "marinades" along the wall. I like the ranch flavored one. Entertaining menu, decor, and I like how they assign you nicknames for order pickup. They have a pool table and other games for your entertainment. Oh, and their chipotle ketchup is good too. For you POKEMON GO players, lots of pokestops in the area! read more

I've always wanted to try Twisted Root especially when the Animal Rights Coalition at Tech goes or when Hub City Veg invites me, but the thought of not knowing what the order and a restaurant calling you by another name made me even more skeptical. Who knows, I don't. However, when my best friend chose to eat burgers over vegan Mexican food. I was a bit bothered, but knows he loves burgers and usually eats them every chance he gets. So, here we are. The guy at Cinnaholic tells us that Twisted Root has different flavors of pickles. I'm excited about that. We get there and surprisingly one there's one vegetarian burger. They should have two. Anyways! The flavor is ok, but the burger itself is falling apart. I wish there was more spices or something to bring the flavor out. All I can taste is chickpeas, quinoa, avocado, bread (buns), lettuce, and tomato. Bleh. Meh. I was hoping for more than that. The different flavors of pickles were good. The bread and butter was my favorite. The nastiest was ranch. Too salty. Fries were legitimately seasoned to the tee. My friend loved his American burger. Great atmosphere. read more

Since this location opened, I feel like the quality of the food has gone downhill. The burgers always taste very plain and has little to no seasoning. The pickle station and the tables are usually messy with random fries and Ketchup smears. I actually contacted their customer service department and told them about the lack of quality and very messy restaurant, the person who responded to my email said "they will work on it". No sorry or a gift card to try and win us back. read more

I'm on the hunt for a good burger and checking out all the places I can and TRB fell really short despite the reviews. The atmosphere is really cool and relaxed and I enjoyed that a lot. Coming in this location was a bit tricky since their main entrance is towards the walking side of the apartment building they're under. We spent about $40 for 2 burgers, 2 sides, 2 sodas, and 1 milkshake. One bite in and I knew my search was long from over. They have different meats (rabbit, venison, etc) so maybe that and the bar is what attracts people here. The food and drink to me was bland and not exciting. read more

They have a really great veggie patty! Also, the bartender, Caroline, is fantastic! She was hospitable and efficient.

Always love twisted root- all locations have been exactly what I'm in the mood for yum

We picked this joint because of Yelp and SO glad we did. As burger obsessed people on a business trip - we needed a fix. This place had a super cool vibe, and the restaurant had this sort of industrial look to it. Clean and bright, the tables are all self seating. We went back into the area where you order the food... after walking by the pickle bar (YES, a Pickle Bar!!!) The burgers can be made with beef, turkey or vegan OR game meat! But I am not that brave so I went with good old beef. I had the Verde Burger with onion rings. total Burger happiness. Oh AND they had a walnut root beer in their soda fountain machine which was self service. It was SO good. I am coming back to this place for SURE. read more

Overall, good burger and shake. It's a little more modern and hipster of an atmosphere for a sports bar. I liked the concept of ordering your food than sitting down, bug it wasn't obvious to order in the back room. Signage could be a little better when you're coming in from the front. I had the Western burger. I would recommend. The sauces on the table were okay. Also had the vanilla wafer and banana pudding shake. Delicious. They were out of actual bananas but the pudding was enough for me. Solid 4 star read more

Twisted Root, always a reliable burger in a place that isn't trying too hard to be fancier than a burger joint should be. The regular menu options are all solid, I personally like the freshman 15 (bacon, egg, AND fries on top wowow), but go with your heart, or stomach, and you won't be disappointed. Fries are good, not mind blowing, but for $2 not a bad price. They also have a rotating menu of burgers of the month and game meats that you can sub into the regular burger menu. I haven't tried the game meat so I can't speak to that, but it's a cool option if you feeling adventurous. Unlike other locations I've been to there is no large menu at the counter, only the smaller paper ones. It took me a second to know how to order and where to look, a small detail but I don't like starting my meal with confusion. Overall, if you're looking for a good burger that isn't fast food while still keeping it casual, then this is a good a place as any. read more

Visited for lunch. Service was great. There wasn't a chicken tender option for our picky kids, but we found something else to try. One child tried a Cobb salad, but we didn't see pickled red onions listed on the menu so she said the juice from that was all over the fried chicken she had added to it. We shared 2 sandwiches. The western was pretty good, we added sauce to it. The fries were great and fresh! Onion strings were great too. We weren't into the ranch, seemed to have dill added to it. read more

I came here because people raved about it on a FB. Someone asked where to buy chargrilled burgers in Carrollton. And three/four people said this place...people don't read. There is nothing chargrilled in this restaurant. I'm not disappointed but not sure what all the hype was about. It's a burger with speciality fries. The margarita was freshly made (fresh squeezed limes); not bad for happy hour. I'll be back but I'm still on the hunt for a chargrilled burger in Carrollton TX read more

Drove all the way from Plano....not the same as in days of yore. Turned into just another burger joint. Generous order of onion circles called "strings' for some odd reason. Average burger. Used to be way cooler with the exotic meats and star name callouts. Another Covid casualty I guess. Not worth the drive in my case. read more

I LOVED this restaurant and will definitely go back. From A to Z, I was wowed. The restaurant itself is cool-looking on the inside and plenty spacious. They have sodas on tap that are custom sodas, not like name brand Coke or Pepsi, and they were really tasty (I tried the black cherry and cream sodas). Their food menu had lots of enticing burger options, and my fiancée and I both enjoyed the burgers we picked. As a lover of sliced pickles, I was pleased to see they had a pickle bar with different flavors of pickles for free. That was a really nice touch and a great add to the meal. (I also had fried pickles, which were great, and not too expensive). Overall the food and restaurant were terrific and the price was very reasonable given the quality of the product. A new favorite in DFW! read more

I will never spend a dime in this place. This first and last time ever coming to this place. I ordered two plates of wings with two water down drinks . One plate of wings was overcooked and other was under cooked. I talked to so called owners about the food and was told I could get my food replaced. I never seen a replacement. Never complain or cause issues. I paid $30 at the end despite the terrible food and left a tip for overworked waitress. Food was not done well. We ordered door dash and an entire meal was missing. Call the store & the manager said that they highlighted everything in front of the Dasher. However, the Dasher has an entirely different story. The order was expensive so for the restaurant to not care or do anything about it is why I will never go there again. Not to mention door dash wants to issue a credit as if I'd ever use them again. read more

Ordered classic burger with wagyu patty. Totally disappointed. Burger was flavorless and CHEWY. Forced myself to finish. Completely different from last time I was here in 2021. The onion rings were fantastic. Great flavor in the batter. Cheese fries were respectable. read more

Yummy burgers and shakes, sides and the pickles are the bomb!!! The fried chicken iS great!

Customer service was horrible. While I was waiting for my food to be cooked I watched them kick a black man out for no reason other than he was homeless. The man followed the rules allotted by the business "no shirt, no shoes no service". he was completely clothed and paid for his food but was sent out by the worker. No matter what, that person paid for their food and followed the rules of the restaurant and was still turned away. That same sign also says "we like people!" Which is obviously a blatant lie since they disrespected and turned away a person that just wanted some food. read more

Twisted Root has amazing burgers, fries and sauces and a large variety of beers and pickles! I've tried the veggie burger here, and the patty is amazing! Lots of seeds, which give it a crunchy texture, and black beans and veggies that make it filling. My company rented out a majority of the restaurant for an event and it went smoothly. Their venue was spacious, their environment is laid back and casual, and their staff took good care of us by constantly replenishing out apps and drinks. I've also come here several times with smaller parties and had a great experience. The food is always fresh, the fries are good, the portions are big. Oh and their barbecue sauce may be the best I've ever had. I put it on literally everything. read more

As soon as we walked in I was amazed by all the pickle types by barrel! I had to try them all. I ordered the vegabond burger with the regular bun. I appreciate that they have a veggie burger that doesn't mimic the taste of meat (impossible burger) since I'm a lifelong vegetarian. The texture of the patty was perfectly crispy on the outside with a hearty black bean and quinoa mixture. Also loved the patio bar ambiance with plenty of seating! Wish they had a location in Houston but will definitely be back the next time I'm in Dallas. read more

Warning, whatever you do, do not order a salad from here. You are probably thinking, "What idiot goes to a burger place and orders a salad?" Well, this one did. And it was terrible. Sad that when we went to Twisted Root burger co the ice cream machine was down... no milkshakes or floats. The sign said blame McDonalds so I gotta say those Golden Arches suck! Burgers were amazing though! Seasoned to perfection with crispy bacon and gooey cheese! We ordered two sides, fries and fried pickles. The fries were amazing with a nice crunch but the pickles were mediocre at best. When ordering fried pickles I want it to be crispy. The ones we received gave me more of a baked vibe vs. a fried. Twisted root, change yalls recipe and lmk! I love some good fried pickles. Atmosphere was cool, great vibe. When we were seated we were given a little card to place on our table so our server knew where we were. We thought it was hilarious that it said Blake lively. Fun way to identify tables vs. numbers. Highly reccomend getting a margarita with their blueberry tequila as well! SOOO GOOD! Just wish they had a blender so it could have been frozen. We will be coming back! Quick note: idk if they were running out of lettuce and tomatoes, but I got the SMALLEST piece of lettuce to put on top of my burger. Lmao read more

I decided to go here since I think I've seen it in airports but have not tried it out. I am a big burger fanatic and I came here for the vibes and it was in a cute little part of carrolton. The place was big but very empty I think it was a Friday night. I ordered my food and all the burgers are cooked the same I think we'll done or something. I did not enjoy my food the way I normally would have just because the burgers well a little dry and there was not a lot to it. I ordered a shake and it was very sweet so I gave it to my bf. Waited 30 minutes for 4 shakes, the young man was new so not his fault was trying really hard to make the shakes. My issue was the the manager not stepping in to help him with the order, he was as useless as tits on a bull! Being a huge burger connoisseur and having heard great things about Twisted Root, I was really looking forward to trying them out. Unfortunately, I left with more than a tinge of disappointment. For starters, they cook their burgers well-done, which they describe as having a pink line through the center. They advise you to let them know if you don't want the pink line (presumably that you want your burger cooked more than 'well done'). My burger was past well done. No pink. To my taste, a properly cooked burger is soft and moist. A well-done burger is firm and dry. My toppings -- cheese, bacon and egg -- didn't cure the problem. What I loved about Twisted Root was their pickle bar. Five flavors of pickles free for your enjoyment. And their soda fountain is pretty awesome as well. Especially the black cherry. The decor at Twisted Root is also pretty spectacular. The open spaces, design and vibe are top-notch. I only wish the burger quality could match the rest of the amenities. read more

I was pretty stoked when I found out that a Twisted Root was going to open so close to me. Whether it's their many takes on a burger or their "adult only" shakes this place keeps me wanting more. Occasionally, you'll find that they have some game meats including buffalo, ostrich, kangaroo and boar just to name a few. I only wish these exotic meats would be available all the time. They have a set of pre-topped burgers, which actually comes cheaper than adding your own custom toppings. I love the Big Tex and find that I always default to that. There are a lot of variations to choose from so definitely take a look from that list! Don't forget to complete your order with a side of fried onion strings or fried green beans. They're fries are decent, but if you have these other two things to choose from there's no reason to go that route. And yes, the fried green beans are what you think they are, but they taste nothing like the stuff your parents stuff down your throat as a kid. If you haven't tried these things before, you're missing out. There's also a self serve pickle bar where you can grab as many flavored sliced pickles as you want. There are four different flavors so just take a few and see what you like most. Don't be shy. It's all free! read more

Twisted Root Burger - Burgers Near Me - Carrollton, Texas

I was finally able to check out Twisted Root on my quest to try all the best burger places in Dallas, and wasn't disappointed! I love that they have a rotating menu of different game burgers, so I hope to catch when they have something unique I want to try. My coworkers and I came on a Friday for lunch, and there was already a long line since we weren't able to leave early enough and got here at 11:45am. However, the line started getting longer and longer behind us, so we at least missed the biggest of the rushes. Lesson learned though- come as early as possible if you want to avoid a 20 minute+ wait in line. After we ordered it took another 10-15 minutes to get our food. I tried: -Complimentary Pickles: I tried all of the varieties except Bread & Butter since I'm not a fan of those.I liked the Atomic flavor best, then Ranch, then Dill. -All American Burger ($7.99 + Green Chilies $0.75 + Sweet Potato Chips $1.99, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NSMkOPyHoOR3MddPgbLFxA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Good, and definitely very cheesy with the double cheese. The bacon was nice and crispy, and the burger was seasoned well. However, I wish I specified medium for the burger doneness, since the medium well was a bit too cooked for me. The sweet potato chips were interesting- I loved the crunch, but the cinnamon sugar on it didn't quite go with the burger, so I probably wouldn't get it again. -Fried Green Beans ($2.99): Yum- these were nice and crispy, and I loved the chipotle aioli dipping sauce. Highly recommended! -Onions Strings ($2.99): These were my favorite along with the fried green beans, and I loved that they already had seasoning on them. -Treat Yo Self Fries (w/Bacon Bits, Cheddar, Jalapenos, $4.99, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kkzYXkk3wxF6sLKto612mg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Just ok for me- I feel like if you don't finish these in the first 5 minutes, the concealed cheese just makes it too hard to eat since you have to forcefully separate each fry. Skip! -Fried Pickles ($2.99): Just ok- the batter was too thick, and I'd rather get the green beans or onions strings. Skip! Overall, this is a solid burger spot to check out, although they didn't replace my favorite burger spots in the Dallas area. I would still come back (especially for the wild game burgers) if in the area and NOT running late to avoid that line. They have plenty of seating here, and we were able to find seats easily despite it being super busy. Parking was also easy since they have their own lot, which was sizable. read more

At first when I walked in, I felt lost because all I saw was the bar. Got me confused and thinking "I'm really ordering burgers at a bar???" I stood there for a moment, scanning around for self-answers because it seems as if there are no waiters and hostesses? After I figured that you have to go through the doors that looked like it led to the kitchen, everything went smoothly. Food was great! I'd say my money is well-spent here, and I'm my opinion, it's worth the price you pay. Customer service is excellent! The young man at the cashier helped me through the process and recommendations for a first timer. I also loved the ambiance and feel of the restaurant.
