Twisted Root is a classic burger joint, and I like this location. Good atmosphere, good service, and I've been eating here for years. Which is why I have to say it: I miss the homemade root beer. I mean, isn't that the namesake? Maybe not everyone loves root beer as much as I do, but those flavor combos were out of this world. I also miss the sweet potato chips with peanut butter. Management, if you're reading this, bring these things back! OK, gripes aside. The food is good. I normally go for the chicken sandwich, but the burgers are juicy, greasy, and delicious. I really haven't had a bad sandwich here. I hope they never take the pickles away. That's one of the few edges they have left. Though I'll say the last few times I went, the rinds were pretty chewy. The watermelon tea is great, really refreshing. Service is great too. The staff seem genuinely happy to be there and always eager to help. I wanted to grab some food on my way back from a massage and decided to stop by Twisted Root Burger Co. Parking was easy--there's a public lot behind the restaurant, plus a few spots out front and along the side of the building. It wasn't very busy when I arrived, which made for a relaxed visit. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Triston took my order and did a great job, and another employee (I didn't catch his name) walked me through the menu and offered suggestions, which I appreciated. I kept it simple and ordered the "All American" burger with a side house salad. My food came out quickly and was nice and hot. I also liked that they had a variety of housemade and regular condiments available, plus a pickle bar in the corner--which is a fun touch. The side salad was anything but basic. It was fresh, colorful, and vibrant--definitely a win if you're a visual eater like me. The balsamic vinaigrette paired well with it too. As for the burger, it was solid. I liked that they serve the veggie toppings on the side so you can customize it exactly how you want. Just a heads up: burgers are cooked medium by default unless you specify otherwise. Overall, everything tasted great, but the portion was pretty filling--I only made it through about half of my burger. Prices were reasonable as well: $11.50 for my burger and $4.50 for my side salad. My friends and I went here before my flight, there have variety of pickles to try. My friends love pickles but I don't so they enjoyed that more. I believed I ordered "The Western", but I remember it was really good, meat was cook perfect! The fries are fresh. The place was well decorated and has unique designs. I always come with coworkers and love that this place has options for everyone. They have burgers and chicken sandwiches, tenders and salads. On this visit I noticed they have changed their menu but still have great offerings. I had the "All American" with onion strings. Meat was cooked to term as requested and well seasoned. I cannot end this review without mentioning their pickle bar. So if you like pickles, this place is close to heaven then! I have tried them all but the atomic ones are my favorite. I'm not sure how we stumbled upon this place, but I am glad that we did. We were in the mood for a burger, and this place did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and were able to place our order there, and our food was served to us. If you order at the counter, you can pick it up there as well. The bartender was so friendly, and she was entertained by the fact that we were from Nebraska. The pickle bar was cool, and we tried them all because why not, right? The burgers were amazing, and we also tried a sampler of the appetizers. I had never had a fried carrot, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Fast casual. Order at the front and they call your order at the front. There's a decent amount of variety of burgers plus turkey and chicken burgers. Fries are $3 or so. Before going to H-Mart, I stopped at Twisted Root Burger for a quick meal. Due to the proximity of the downtown Carrollton DART station, parking in this area can be a little challenging. To place an order, enter the restaurantand walk back to the "in" door and place your order at the counter. The Big Tex burger, which came with cheddar, guacamole, fried onion strings, and chipotle sauce, was underwhelming. Despite having guacamole and chipotle sauce on it, the burger was quite dry and cooked to an extreme degree of doneness. Additionally, I added a side of overcooked fries to my order. To finish the meal, I had to drown my burger and fries in ketchup. The meal is far better at the Twisted Root restaurant in Deep Ellum, where I've been. In the future, I'd like to go back, but I'll probably try a different location. read more

This place was just okay-ish. I don't feel like the quality of food was justified for the price point (it was roughly $24 dollars for two burgers and a side of plain fries, and I got a pretty low key burger without a ton of toppings). I personally ordered The Classic burger and added a fried egg on top. The Classic comes with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato so I decided to add the egg for extra flavor. The burger patty itself was dry and bland, and unfortunately the egg didn't help much with that. There's also no sauce on The Classic, so I effectively drowned it in ketchup to add some moisture to it. My partner and I also ordered a side of fries. The fries weren't amazing, not horrible either. Just okay. If you're in the Carrollton square area and need to eat somewhere that will get you in and out quickly, this would be that place. I'm glad to see this location re-opened after being temporarily closed for most of last year. We decided to go the take-out route this time so we ordered through their website which is powered by the Toast Takeout and Delivery app. The process was quick and straight forward. We ordred: the millionaire: oh so messy, but oh so good! The truffle aioli and dark beer sauce puts the burger in another class and you can't help but raise your pinky as you eat it. gosh jam it: the goat cheese and tomato-bacon-onion jam really punches you in the mouth with flavor! it's creamy, sweet and tender all in one burger. lots-a-shroom: this is a definite classic! The mushrooms are cooked perfectly and melted Swiss cheese holds everything together. tootsie hot chicken: this is a decent chicken sandwich, but not high on the list for recommendation. The chicken is not at all spicy and the breading is a bit thick to the point where it slide off the chicken. I'd say stick with the burgers. We also ordered a couple orders of hand punched french fries and watermelon tea. The prices are reasonable for a gourmet burger joint. Parking is a bit of a pain on weekends. There is a free parking garage located behind Twisted Root, but it is shared by patrons from that shop in the Downtown Carrollton Area. Overall, I'm happy to see Twisted Root is still in business. I can't wait to head back out and actually enjoy my burger in-house. read more
