I love this locaation as well as all the other. I have been many times with many types of burgers. Only had one issue where they didnt cook the burger well done and they remade it but otherwise no major issues. The bottom bun is always incredibly soggy no matter what type of burger I get so I get an extra bun (no charge). The variety of pickles is a plus as well. im so glad Carrollton is getting more great restaurants.! read more

So the hershey chocolate shake was the best chocolate shake I have ever had, must try! Tasted like crack soooo good. The burger was fresh and delicious, love their own made spicy ketchup. Their spicy marinated pickles are great! All around a solid meal. read more

The burgers are great, though I just wished this was in another location. I always get the fried green beans which are to die for. However, I refuse to visit that area of Carrollton because the police hide all through that area and write speeding tickets to motorist who do not know that the speed limit is 25 mph in that area. I would suggest mentioning to the chamber of commerce that it is tough to entice patrons to eat at the establishment, when it costs customers $200+ as a result of the revenue racket that Carollton PD uses the square area for. Personally, I will stick to the TR's in the part of town where the police are more concerned with actual crime instead of taking advantage of financially able patrons looking for a quick bite to eat. If you do decide to visit....I suggest walking, or watching your surroundings very carefully. read more

My girlfriend and I have gone to twisted root since last October. We have had other bar tenders there but Joe I'd our the best because he serves us in s timely manner and cares to ask us how we are doing and he is genuinely nice. We have never had an issue with our receipts or orders while going to twisted . He's always efficient even when busy and if our order takes too long he makes sure to check on it personally.highly recommended because of Joe and his customer service. I'm in love. I went with two friends this afternoon. All of us had turkey burgers on gluten free buns. They were delicious. The sweet potato chips were not as awesome as the burger, but pretty darn good. The manager came out a few times to chat with us and was incredibly friendly. I love a good burger and had high expectations for this place. It is an odd build out and finding where you order when you enter off Main can be tricky. Once you do, there is a good selection of burger and beverage offerings, including their 'adult' shakes. I had the Lotsa shrooms burger a mushroom and swiss that I added guac to. I neglected to state the temp I wanted my meat at so it ended up well. Oddly, the staff member taking my order didn't ask so I was curious to see what their default cook was, not good. The meat itself could do with some seasoning. The burger got all it's flavor from the toppings. The guac is delicious, well seasoned with tomato mixed in. They have meatless and game meat options as well as gluten free buns. Sides were mediocre and over-priced in my opinion. There is a pickle bar with several flavor options including ranch, sweet and atomic. The unfinished wood that acts as a divider for the booths and the pool table section acts as a dust magnet and can snag clothing. Overall, a decent burger. Next time I'll make sure to request my meat temp at med rare though. read more

So delicious I love that they make everything fresh and attempt to use locally sourced foods. My favorite is the shtoom burger! Also I am a fan of the homemade pickles!! My wife and I had lunch here today. The burgers were great and the fries, scrumptious. I love the fountain drink options here, as well as the local beer selections. It is not your average burger joint and I plan to bring out-of-townees here to eat. This place is very unique to Carrollton and it's great to have it near my house, since we usually have to drive closer to downtown to eat someplace out of the ordinary. No expense was spared here from the good pickle bar, the home-made dressings, and the wild game selection. Would I go back? Yes, and I have. Do they have improvements to make? Absolutely. I enjoy the urban vibe of Twisted Root. It's a nice, casual change for a burger joint. The quality of the food is good, but it's a bit on the pricey side. Three of us purchasing burgers and fries with soft drinks was just over $50. I can't stress enough HOW TRUE it is about the soggy bottom buns. There have been numerous complaints from others and yes, it's true. The bottom bun is so thin and absorbent, all three of us had to request new bottom buns. They must be used to it, because they didn't even flinch. The pickle bar is nice, if you're a pickle fan. I really feel you're getting a good quality burger in a nice, well-kept facility. However .... They could greatly better satisfy their customers by reducing the price, or offering combo meals for savings. And, stop charging for sides of sauces. Overall, I'll keep going back because they're some cool and unique choices you don't find just everywhere, but I hope they continue to improve the few issues they do have. read more

I have eaten at the Twisted Root location in Deep Ellum and that location is 10x better than this one. When it comes to customer service, the bar was packed and they only had one bartender. (Waited 30 min. For a drink) when we got the margarita, it was diluted w tonic/soda water. We ordered a bison burger-delicious, but they forgot the sauce. Despite the extra exercise we got from having to get up to fix their mistakes, it was a good date night with the hubby. read more

While at the Carrollton festival, we and some friends went to Twisted Root for dinner, my first time at any Twisted Root. I had heard good things about it and was eager to try it. Figuring it would be very crowded because of the festival, I was pleasantly surprised that the order line wasn't that long and moved relatively quick. I don't stray from the mainstream very often when eating out, so I had the standard bacon cheeseburger, while my wife had the Kevin Bacon. I was happy that TR offered gluten-free buns, even at the $2 up charge (should be $1, IMO, but that seems to be standard at restaurants). As busy as the restaurant was, our order took less than ten minutes. My burger was pretty good and the bacon was nice and thick. I didn't notice anything spectacular about the burger, it was just a good burger. The fries were a good, thin french fry. My wife said her burger was good, but I don't recall any raving. The atmosphere suits my style. Very casual, friendly and someplace to not take things very seriously. The outdoor patio was a great place to eat on a fall evening. Prices were about average. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Twisted Root and will go back. read more

Heard great things about this place...went there on a Friday night. Noted on the menu that the burgers were well done unless told otherwise. My husband and I forgot to tell them to cook ours medium as we like our burgers juicy and slightly pink in the middle. The burgers were definitely medium well, on the drier side but our fault for not ordering them medium. I had the burger with goat cheese, it was okay, unique with the goat cheese. My husband got the usual cheeseburger and rated it "okay". Fries were good, nothing special. A little pricey for beers $6.50 for a draft. As far as the food is concerned it's 5 stars but unfortunately they don't seem to care much about the convenience of their customers. They seem to have an attitude of "this is the way we do it, deal with it" They don't take phone in "to go" orders. Even their website is slow and difficult to navigate. They do not have kids meals, they provide a sign saying they will give you a knife. And really, many of their ingredients are over priced. Ever so often I will overlook their non-customer centered atmosphere cause I enjoy the burgers and they are close. But honestly, if there were another burger joint with the same quality near by, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. read more
