Literally some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. First off, there's about 6 staff members just standing behind the bar when you enter and none are working, just chatting. You then have to go to the bar to order drinks, and no one was behind the bar. I had to ask for someone to serve me, and they didn't know how to create a Bloody Mary (which I had to return). The bartender was so rude and unprofessional. I was excited to try these "fantastic" burgers that I've heard so much about, but it was such a let down. I will not be returning. read more

We went yesterday to try this place out and we were very disappointed. We spent $31 on two burgers two fries, and two drinks. First of all both the bottom and top buns were super super soggy. Not from the "juiciness" of the burger but from grease. My boyfriend took both the buns to the cashier and they switched them out and told the cook to put less butter on the bread. Okay once that issue was fixed we start eating. I bite into my burger and pull out a long hair.... I take the burger to them and they start making me another one and another order of fries. First of all, I was already half way done with my food. I didn't need another meal but I didn't wanna ask for my money back. I sit down and wait for my food. The food comes and guess what? The bread is soaked AGAIN. I then asked nicely that I did not want that food and I wanted my money at least for my meal back because beside the soggy bread my boyfriend didn't find a hair in his food. They decided to refund us for the whole meal. I would never go to this place again. I'm just thankful they understood why we wanted a refund and did not make a scene about it. read more

We haven't been to Twisted Root sine they reopened, and decided to give it a try yesterday for dinner. We just weren't impressed/won't be back. I got the burger of the month and subbed the veggie patty instead of beef. I asked for the bacon on the side, it came with no bacon and no blue cheese. The veggie patty is just plain gross and feel apart as I was eating it. I know you guys have been closed a year, but really a bean burger? Come on. The food was not great and the place it's self is a mess. I had to ask for a fork because my burger feel apart. The bartender was plain rude to customers. Outside tables sat with trash blowing everywhere. When the tables were cleaned off the trays you eat off were wiped with a rag and stacked (and hopefully washed afterwards.) Not sure why I was asked to tip, as a customer you get your food, drink, condiments and throw your stuff away. Seems like staff should be paid an hourly wage and not as waitstaff. Luckily there's a million other places to get a nice burger, we're just bummed that this place is in the neighborhood. read more

This is slowly becoming one of my places to hangout for lunch. Who doesn't love a good burger and hand cut fries covered in bacon cheese and jalapeños. My last stop at its location was during breast cancer awareness moth and the burger of the month was the booby burger. Booby burger was a half pound beef patty with bacon and all the veggies with a buttery swirl of guacamole on each opened side of the burger topped with a little siracha nipple, this was my kind of two fisted burger. It was the last day for the Booby burger thank goodness. Travis read more

Twisted Root Burger - Lunch was bomb! This was probably the best vegan burger I have ever had. - Burgers Near Me - Carrollton, Texas

Ah, now this is a burger joint that I feel quite ambivalent about. On one hand, it had some really nice quirks: including a 5-jar pickle bar, the famous-actor/actress name calling, the extra yummy and creamy milk shakes, as well as the daily special burger meats (from emu to gator, kangaroo, duck and etc.) So, with all of this, why the hesitance? It's because I don't typically eat burgers, fries or milkshake, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a fun and interactive dining spot. Just don't forget to mention the basic condiments (i.e. tomato or onions, as they are often not included) Here are the highlights: special meat burger, veggie burger, fried pickles When you come here, you need to order at front desk and are given a famous identifier (like Elvis, Brad Pitt or Oprah) to pick up your food. You can either choose the existing burger choices or create your monstrosity. When I went there, they had a special on kangaroo meat, so I got the kangaroo with mushroom, fried pickles, elvis milk shake and the veggie burger. As far as the burger, I didn't have the soggy bun issue, and quite the opposite: the brioche bun was a little more on the dry side, and the meat flirting more on the well-side of the grill. Since this is the first time I've had kangaroo, I really do not have much of a reference point, aside from the fact that it tasted slightly grittier and leaner than its bovine counterpart but had a sweeter aftertaste. The fried pickles were quite good: they were lightly (but thoroughly) breaded and served hot with a side of creamy, tangy sauce. For the vegetarians out there, the veggie burger option is freshly prepared and serves a decent (although, probably not that much healthier) alternative. That being said, I thought the patty may have been a bit over grilled (or fried) and really didn't taste that healthy. Finally, the milk shake was ok, but not Earth shattering (the bacon bits felt more of an accessory, than a main contributor to the over flavor of the Elvis Shake. At the end of the day, would I still recommend this place? Of course! We all had a lot of fun ordering the food, trying out all of the pickles and talked about random nonsense which watching the sunset in the outdoor patio. The food may not have been stellar, but the experience that Twister Root offers is priceless. o Food: 3 stars o Price: 3 stars o Service: 3 stars o Ambiance: 3-4 stars o Experience: 5 stars read more

Started from Deep ellum, Dallas, this place is expanding to different suburbs in DFW. This isnt my first visit but after a long gap, I totally forgot about their pickles! Definitely a try! I liked the standard bread and butter pickles. The variety of meat sounds interesting; beaver, buffalo, camel, kangaroo, lamb, etc.. I decided to skip the exotic meat choices and went for Le Wagyu. My boyfriend went for Texas Heat. The fountain drinks had sodas I am not familiar with. They got cola but not from cocacola. They definitely honor customization on burgers, drinks, and even pickles which are in 5 varieties. My wagyu burger was pretty moist and tender between soft buns. I really liked their house dijon! Very addicting and goes well with their burger. Texas heat though , the patty was too dry.. Side pickles and fries were too salty for us. But we had colas that helped. It isn't going to be monthly deal for me, but when I come around either carrollton or lewisville downtown, it will be one of options to consider. Also, Nice seating areas both indoor and outdoor. read more

So I was craving a burger and decided to stop by here since it's not too far from my job. I ordered the Western burger with fries. This meal definitely fulfilled my craving! The burger was truly made to perfection. The patty was juicy without it being rare, the bacon was crispy and great, the fried onions were crunchy and so good. The fries were crisp and well seasoned. The BBQ sauce they had on the table was good also. Everything about my meal was just perfect, it blessed my soul lol. I will definitely be back here to try out their other burgers. read more

I was hearing great things about this place. Regulars have been raving about the Twisted Root for months. But now one of your ambassadors and a few others are raving about how management is running them off and banning them for life. Was looking for a nice place but I fear too much drama between management and patrons is too much for me. So I'll just stay away read more

This location has a pool table....and a fun place to come watch the game. It's tucked away in Downtown Carrollton. The food itself is delicious. The thing I loved is the pickle bar. Yes, you read that correctly....a pickle freaking bar! Vegetarians: They will make any burger veggie friendly by switching the original patty with a veggie patty. read more

I only go here because they have a veggie burger for my wife. Place seems a little pricey for what you get. What kind of burger place doesn't have onion rings? Anyways, burger island is way better and a little cheaper. There is a bar at Twisted Root so you could drink and that would probably make the food taste better. read more

A much easier to get to and more laid back location over the one in Deep Ellum was welcome to us! Twisted Root is a favorite date spot, the creative food, layout and concept is just FUN. Not to mention, delicious. This time I had the Enough Said. It was amazing. The hubs had the All American, also delicious. Their fries are super good. +10 in my book for not being those super tiny, annoying shoestring variety. Have we mentioned how they have all of these homemade pickles in buckets for free?? And the house made sodas on the soda machine. This time they had Peach Rootbeer.... it sounds weird, but it was actually really good. Thank you for coming to Carrollton! We love you! read more

Twisted Root in downtown Carrollton is a local burger chain that specializes in "twisted" sauces and ingredients. Feeling adventurous? Check their menu where you'll find bison, elk, and other non-traditional burger meats. Add awesome pickles, sides, shakes, and a retro feel & you have a great joint. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Twisted Root is a hipster's paradise. It may be a fairly new restaurant, but it's got an amazing retro feel. Booths look like they were imported from 1985, two old school pool tables are available for newbies & hustlers alike. There's also a long bar you can eat & drink at and a long communal table for those who don't mind dining with strangers. 1 Star. Service - I consider Twisted Root Counter "Plus" service. The kitchen is in the back, and that's where you go to place your order. File in line and take time to look at the menu. Once you order, you'll be given a name tag which they'll call when your order is ready. I was Elsa, and when I heard "Let it Go" over the loud speaker I knew it was time to eat. Once we got our food, the staff still came by to see if we needed anything, just like regular service. Great people here. 1 Star. Food - Ok, this may sound twisted (pun intended), but I'm actually not a fan of the Twisted Root burger. I'm a simple guy, so the meat & bun make or break the burger. The beef burger, while big, was under seasoned and dry IMO. The bread didn't hold up well and disintegrated in my hands. But while the burger was ok, I love everything else. Let's start with the pickles: Twisted Root makes their own pickles with flavors like dill, ranch, jalapeno, and habanero. Want yellow mustard & ketchup? No problem. You want Horseradish-Dijon, chipotle bbq sauce, and others? Check. Also, while many restaurants do sweet potato fries, Twisted Root serves sweet potato chips. The result is a thinner, crispier bite that still packs that great sweet potato flavor. Onion strings are also delicious. But my favorite item on the menu is the peanut butter and brownie shake. Smooth throughout, a peanut butter lover's dream, and the perfect ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I love how downtown Carrollton has transformed, and Twisted Root is a welcome addition. I still think there are better burgers elsewhere, but Twisted Root is a true chef driven restaurant & you can tell from their menu. This place is a must visit. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five-star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score. read more

I will never dine here again. My partner and I came here on a Thursday night to dine in. We went straight to the bar for drinks. The bartender was at the bar watching television. I had to call him loudly 3x before he turned around to finally respond. He took my order and started a tab. We then placed our order in the other half of the building. The gentleman that took my order was very nice. The food came out pretty quickly. It was extremely salty but tolerable. Upon leaving, I decided not to order more and close my tab. AGAIN, I had to practically yell at the bartender to get his attention. He never answered so my partner yelled across the bar to get his attention. Dramatically, he spun around and finally closed me out. It was obvious to me and the fellow patrons that he was ignoring us on purpose. He was nice and friendly to everyone else as far as I could see. For the pricing, I could spend my money somewhere else where I will at least be acknowledged! read more

Tried the veg burger- a mix of black bean, rice and chic pea hummus dipped in brown quinoa. It was good and very happy they don't use soy . Only issue is of course, the flies... The music was a mix of rock, pop and loved the reggae. read more

100% recommend a trip here! This place does an amazing burger! I got the verde, which is hatch chiles, guac, and pepper jack on a burger! It did not disappoint and they made sure to ask if the need for a gluten bun was an allergy! They were friendly, there were free pickles to go with your meal (try the ranch they were delicious), and the fries were crispy. I would recommend the verde but the big Texan was also good. We also had a fat elvis shake (beware, this will fill you up without the hamburger), and the twisted mule which is a nice refreshing mix on a traditional mule! read more

The good was great and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a bit more of a "wild game" selection than just buffalo and boar (wild pig)!!!! The meal was a bit pricey for two people.... $38.00, (only one was a game burger), but again, it was extremely good. This was our first trip, so we asked the girl at the register for suggestions, she had none. Didn't know much about the menu, and had a very bland personality as well. If they had more of a selection, (like I was under the impression of them having), I might go often...as it is, I could possibly go once every few months... because of the price and limited selection. read more

Okay twisted root, you have made me change my rating for you to 5 stars! I came in and got my bison burger today and it was cooked just right. I told the lady what had happened last time, that I took it to go and I felt it was over cooked. She made sure it was done perfect this time for me, and it sure was. It was juicy and tasty just like I like it. My friend ordered their beef burger, and I took a bite out of that and it was just as good. We got sides of sweet potato chips and green beans. Both were fabulous. I got a drink this time, they had a root beer flavored with butter rum. I don't normally crave root beers but this one sounded really good...and it hit the spot. I went back and got seconds and I don't even drink sodas much. This place made me dream of my burger all day at work...I was saddened they did not have the bison + venison burger which is what I wanted to try. Next time though I will come earlier to try that! read more

My favorite burger joint. If you love pickles this is the spot. It's all well worth the calories

Where do I start. Not sure what happened after covid but all the fave burgers are gone. They had a winner with the Verde Burger. I ordered the mushroom burger / it smelled like raw beef, tho it kinda looked cooked? The meat was average beef from a grocery store - no spices or ANYTHING to make it a "best burger in town" experience. Def wasn't done medium. Charged us for fried pickles when we asked for fries. Onion strings were cold. Asked for new, they gave cold to replace them. Bacon was cold, old and sad. Girl cleaning the sauce asked us if we were done with them just as we started our meal! Guess she really wanted to go Home! Ok - pickle bar is still good - bread and butter are great. Sad display if $5 beers at the register, so you pay $6.50, yes $6.50, for one at the bar. Just a horrible Friday nite dinner experience - will never go back. Will not try Coppell. read more

I'd honestly give the place 5 stars out of 5 if not for the fact they blatantly lie on their website and menu. They claim their hamburgers have no MSG. This might be true when considering the patties alone, but a few of their specialty burgers contain their ranch dressing, which itself does contain MSG. I just don't understand why these companies use pre-packaged ranch dressing when it's so incredibly easy to make from scratch. Perhaps their menu crafters just really like the taste of MSG ranch over the homemade variety, or perhaps they just don't care. Regardless, I'd really appreciate it if they'd adjust their menu to reflect accurately the MSG contents of their burgers. If you can't have MSG, don't eat their ranch. From what I can tell, everything else is good. The burgers, by the way, are absolutely 5/5. The shakes looked delicious, but I couldn't justify getting one while munching on one of their massive, meaty burgers. I don't recommend the fried pickles unless you absolutely love salt. They're waaaaay too salty. If they were knocked down a notch or two on the salt, they would have been heavenly. Granted, it also would have been nice to actually dip them in some ranch as intended. I'll happily adjust my rating if the menu and website are adjusted to accurately reflect their crummy MSG-ridden ranch. 2/5 it is for now. read more

Sorry to say twisted root was disappointing all around. Came here as a group of four and we ordered, kids chicken nuggets (dino nuggets from freezer section, over cooked), Swiss mushroom burger (flavorless), buffalo burger with "pretzel bun" (really a croissant bun...caramelized onions were very soggy) and a buffalo burger with goat cheese and such (have had way better). Overall, it was a nice atmosphere and sweet workers, but we suggest the twisted root at Campbell and 75. Much better quality and flavor. Sorry twisted root Carrollton , we won't be back :(. Spent too much money for sub-par food...and we're really not that picky. :( They did give us a gift card (even though we weren't looking at all for a "free" anything). That was nice. It was my first time coming here and I had pretty high expectations because of what I'd heard about this burger joint. The burgers, as good as they sound in the descriptions on the menu, tasted average and were very overpriced for what was served. I ordered fries with my burger and you can get peppercorn or chipotle ranch which was SO GOOD! The size of the orders are pretty big too so you will not leave feeling hungry. The orders are made fairly quickly and the employees are kind and efficient at what they do. The atmosphere was perfect for people 21 and older, not really for younger kids. I went on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed so finding a table was a bit difficult. I sat at one table and realized there was water all over the bottom of it. When I went to sit at another table, the same thing happened. Overall, it was an OK experience. read more

I've been to this place only one time. The time to make the burgers was 8 minutes in total even though they said it would be 12 mins. So $26 dollars for three burgers that weren't even prepared good at all. My complaint for this place is that when i ordered my burger I asked for no tomato, and then for the second burger i asked light on the cheese and grilled onions. But guess what the meat was raw for all of them and there was tomato on my burger, and for the burger that was supposed to be light on cheese with grilled onion they couldn't even have gotten that right. Over all this is the worst place i have ever been too food isn't even good this would be the last place i would eat at. read more

Ya know, I'm just not a fan. I've given this place a few tries now, but I never leave satisfied. The atmosphere is really cool and I love the set up of the restaurant. It's fun and funky - and that's great. You can go to the bathroom and read all their Chuck Norris jokes written on the walls for a good laugh. The have several beers - including local ones- on tap. They have pool tables and a patio with outdoor dining -- and in the summer they have bean bag toss games set up to entertain the kids.. And again, that's great. But man... the line. It sucks. The line is always long and there's only one cashier. So you're guaranteed to stand there and wait a while. And you can't really see the menu because there's so many people standing in line blocking the menu posted on the wall. The burgers are not that great either. Don't get me wrong, I love a juicy burger. However, these burgers are just straight up nasty greasy. The last time I ate here, the bottom bun of my burger was so soaked and soggy with grease, I couldn't even eat it. This last time I went I was super optimistic and decided to try something new --- the loaded french fries. The fries are $4.99 and are covered in cheddar cheese in addition to your choice of two different toppings. So I got ranch dressing and guacamole. But dang it - when they came I was disappointed yet again. The cheese on the fries was not even melted. Therefore they weren't ooey and gooey with cheesy goodness like try should have been. Such a disappointment. :( Look, I'm a Fort Worth girl, so I can't redirect you to a better hamburger joint in this particular area... But if you ever come to the Fort Worth area, check out Rodeo Goat --- they blow this place right out of the water and their fries are way better too!!!!! Everyone was super friendly and the decor is so cool with funny chuck Norris sayings everywhere! Quincy one of the owners found out we were from OK, he's a Cushing native, and gave the girls free shakes as a surprise! We tried all the pickles from the pickle bar and all their root beers. Yum! The burgers were scrumptious! I let out an audible mmmm when I bit into my big tex! The hubs got the freshman 15 and loved it. Fried pickles, French fries, and sweet potato chips all awesome with their house made sauces! We got two jars of pickles to go. Our favorites were the ranch and the sweet and spicy! This is a nice location with pool tables and a nice open air area. But the most important thing is the burgers and these were delicious. Juicy, big and full of good toppings! I had the Tex-Mex burger which included guacamole, fried onion strings, and chipotle sauce. Fries are a little salty for me but the burger was so good I could care less. Let me kick this review off with the fact that I've been going to this particular location for the past 1.5 years (I've been to the others as well) and I must say, this one trumps them all. And for good reason too. 1) The atmosphere/vibe: Second to none, folks. This place NAILS it down to a tee. They have a pool table, adequate seating, cool bar stools (they're beer kegs with cushions on them), TV's, great laid-back decor, a ridiculously awesome patio space that is very-pet friendly AND they can "open" the interior when it's nice outside. Yeah, it's like a restaurant that can drop it's top like a convertible so the whole place basically turns into an outdoor venue. Very cool. And they also have that little "leg lamp" from that movie "The Christmas Story" sitting next to the pickle bar hahahahaha. Makes me laugh every time I see it. 2) The food/drinks: Yes, please! They have never.. and I mean NEVER... served me something that wasn't absolutely delicious or cooked to perfection. The burgers are incredible (their claim to fame), the free pickles are a nice touch, the drinks are well mixed (if you drink ze adult beverages, that is) and I'm pretty sure their fries have some kind of illegal substance in them because they are ADDICTIVE. Seriously. I've brought many, many, many, many people to this location and they all say the same thing about the food and drinks. And the menu is varied so it caters to everyone's tastes (including all of you nerd vegetarians). I kind of wish they went back to the old paper menus, however, and nixed the new plastic ones that have no personality. That little detail kind of added to the overall laid-back and unique ambiance of the restaurant. But I digress... 3) The restaurant staff: HOLY COW MAN, THEY ARE AWESOME. Every time I go in there, either through the main entrance in the courtyard or the side entrance to the bar, I am ALWAYS greeted with a smile that instantly puts me at ease and I honestly feel like I'm in that show "Cheers". Everyone from the front register, servers, cooks (yes, they rock too) and bartenders. I could go on forever about how great all of the staff is but there is one gentleman in particular that works the bar that I'd like to give some props to for his consistency in providing myself and my company exceptional customer service every.single.time. we go - Taylor. I only know his name because he always talks to his patrons like they're his friends/family. He is truly a badass and he's a huge reason why I will only frequent this location. His attitude is 1,000% of the time positive, he's funny, very personable and he serves his patrons at a blinding speed even when he's working solo. I've been there when there were 2 company happy hours going on at the same time (my company was one of them based on my recommendation) with roughly 30 people in the bar area and he served ALL of us in a timely manner without skipping a beat. Allll by himself. And that included the food too which he technically doesn't have to serve when he's behind the bar. Because of his customer service alone, Twisted Root is now my company's go-to location for happy hours. If you go to this location and are planning to have a few drinks, ask for Taylor. Trust me. 4) Just visit this place, it's one-of-a-kind and is highly, highly recommended if you're looking for a great atmosphere, food and drinks. read more

Price/Food - Plenty of selection to choose from at Twisted Root. I opted for the Sexy Hawaiian with sweet potato chips. The burger itself wasn't too bad. The meat had decent flavor but the cheese and sauce just wasn't a great combination.Sweet potatoes were mediocre, nothing special about them.....just chips. For $12, there are a few other places that I would choose over Twisted. Service/Location - The cashier handed my receipt with a card. The card had a celebrity name and that's what the employees would call your order by. I guess it's somewhat unique and provides some entertainment while everyone is waiting. I was disappointed that it took almost 30 minutes for my order to come out. Being a "fast food" restaurant, I didn't expect that long for my food to come out. Recommendation - If you love burgers, this is a great place to check out. Not the best but its a decent burger to enjoy with a couple friends. - Place gets fairly packed so come early or expect a long wait! - Don't get all fancy by trying to build your burger. Order the burgers that's on the menu. It's there for a reason. read more
