Twisted Pine is the home of Hoppy Boy - a tasty 65-IBU American IPA. 'Nuff said. It's a small place, very laid back. I've been there when it's slow, and find sitting at the bar is the best hang. People tend to be friendly, so you may find yourself chatting with folks from all over the place making their personal beer pilgrimages. Twisted Pine makes brews great beer so you can't go wrong if you're a fan. I'll echo the chili beer statements - not much a fan of these (and lotsa bad one s out there), but the chili beer with V8 is worth a try. It's like a slightly fizzy bloody mary. Not sure I'd want a pint, but a taster is a treat. The grilled cheese pairing (4 small sandwiches paired with 4 small beers) is fun. read more

At twisted pine you are expected to serve yourself water as though you were at a family cookout. Your waiter may take a twenty minute break to chill with his friends who stopped by. Ugh. You will be served flat, over priced, mediocre beers. We got seven different beers, all of them tasted like piss syrup. The only enjoyable, or perhaps acceptable, portion of our experience at this (generously stated) shithole was their pizza. Which we made ourselves. Disastrous. Don't go here. Beer: Ok, nothing to amazing. It is worth a stop if doing a local beer tour. The Raspberry Wheat was about the only thing that stood out. I hear the hoppy man and boy are good by my friends who like hoppy beers. I found them warm and flat tasting both times I've been. Food: Skip it! Slow, boring, over priced big time. I am such a fan. When I first moved to Boulder, a friend quickly introduced me to Twisted Pine. I've now made a point for visiting friends to go here. Beer is out of this world good. Carrot IPA? Heck yeah. There are multiple varieties of beers brewed with hot peppers. The black IPA is right nice also. I haven't tried that much food yet. The nachos were a good value and tasty. Despite the sort of unfortunate strip mall location, I was immediately charmed by the completely non pretentious atmosphere inside. Service is pretty good! I'll be honest that I was extremely disappointed with Twisted Pine this past weekend. I had two friends visiting from Indiana, and after watching the ND football game I tried to take them to twisted pine. We arrived at about 5:30 on Saturday and after sitting down at the bar we were immediately told we had to leave because there was a party starting soon and we weren't allowed to stay. I explained that my friends were visiting from Indiana, apologized for arriving so close to their closing time, and the bartender begrudgingly gave us two samples to try and then asked us to leave again. There was no way for us to know they were closing early (a 5 minute post on their website or an outdoor sign would've been nice). Overall, I was really disappointed, my experience with the beer community in CO has been so warm and the people are generally quite accommodating. read more

The owner came and sat next to us and started giving us a bunch of samples. A bartender heard we were new to the area and immediately came over with stickers for us to remember our experience. We used to come here on a regular basis when we lived here in 2009. Our first trip back in, was great. We had the IPA, and the bragget, a hybrid beer/honey brew. We had been drinking the bragget when we lived in Albuqueque, and it was unique and refreshing. Not many breweries are doing braggets, so props for that. Happy hour is 4-6? all day Tuesday. They do food here now too. The establishment has greatly expanded the seating area since we had last been in, and it still had wood paneled charm. I remember the raspberry beer being very good here as well, really all of their beer is well done, enjoyable, and they have around 10- 20 tap choices all made here. read more

We headed to Twisted Pine on Friday night because of the two young men playing guitar there. They were the sons of coworkers we'd gone to support. The place was packed when we showed up... tucked away in an industrial area you could almost miss it. If it weren't for the people standing out front we'd have driven right by. There are several tables/chairs near the entrance for outdoor drinking which is good because there's only a few tables inside and it was pretty small. I ordered their brown ale and the wheat... I thought the wheat was excellent. In addition to the beers on tap they also serve Udi's sandwiches ... they come prepackaged. Wowza! So amazing! We roll in and want to try everything of course! So we get the 15 beer sampler, oh so great! It took about 20 minutes worth of mouthwatering anticipation to get the insane huge sampler, but it was worth it! So many good beers, so much better than from the liquor store! The brewer that served us was super friendly and the place was busy an hour or so after opening on a Saturday. The chili beer, honey beer, raspberry and others were the best brews I had on a weekend long brewery tour by far! Then there is the food. The hummus plate was to die for! I want it now, all of my favorite things in a lovely presentation complemented the brews in a manner so divine that I am drooling just thinking about it. I look forward to returning! read more

Great beer, great pizza and excellent atmosphere! I'm a sucker for decor and if a place makes me feel at home I give it an A+! Lets talk about that part first in this review. You walk into this little brewery at the end of a plaza and notice immediately the pine wood walls. It gives the place a cabin-like feel and a great brewery smell. There is also a bench that runs an entire wall with cozy pillows. It was happy hour when we arrived around 4 so the place was packed and a little bit loud with people standing in circle chatting and huddled together at tables discussing their days and the beers. We grabbed a high-top seat in the back. All of the wait staff that were around that night were classic boulderites - and look like they work at the brewery at night to pay for their skiing habits during the day. It was a great vibe! The Twisted Pine has a classic beer sampler for just $10 during happy hour. So we ordered that and were served up 10 beers! It was a great deal and plenty of alcohol to get us very happy during happy hour! They had some great IPA's and a couple experimental brews to try. I would skip the 5 pepper beer (Billys Chilis) unless you like to drink seracha! One thing I absolutely loved about this place is they are serious about their hops. They list out all of the hops used in each beer on the sampling menu. They take their beer seriously and I dig that. After drinking a few sips from each taster, I found a couple favorites. 1. The cucumber cream ale: cucumbers in beer are a great choice! Very refreshing! 2. The Big Shot Espresso: great coffee flavor and a good stout mix 3. Agaveras IPA: My favorite! We even bought a growler just so we could take some of this home, the agave nectar pairs perfectly with this full bodied citrusy ipa. Now onto their pizzas, they are 10" so no need to share! I ordered the chicken, bacon and ranch and ate the entire thing! It was delicious and the crust was not too overwhelming or flimsy, it was a perfect base for this pizza. Our first stop, on our first trip to Boulder. What a good surprise. Just picked Twisted Pine randomly and glad we did. The beer was very good with a wide range of choices. We had flights and our server was very helpful and knowledgeable on their products. I don't remember which beers we had but one my wife had one she didn't care for and they switched it for her, no problem. The menu isn't very big but what we ate was very good. Hope to get back here some time soon. read more

Wasn't that busy and there were two gals who spent about 10 minutes of that time behind the bar chatting it up with their friends or regulars and each other. The guy seemed like he was legitimately running tables, but the end all was the fourth person walking out from back and immediately chatting up the same people as the two gals. Not sure how service is translated in to letting people sit for 15 minutes at the bar no less with no beers and not even making eye contact because you've got to talk to your friends. Yum! Creative and delicious beers (flights of 5 for $12). I loved the ample variety and depth of the darker beers in particular. Pizzas were seriously excellent (Mediterranean, and Purple Balsamic pizzas) with generous and high quality toppings. Decor was warm, rustic, and artsy (cool painted mural of the brewing process). Open mic night was going on in the room next door, which I really wanted to check out, but it seemed like a more quiet vibe, and my companions wanted to chat more in the main dining room. My only complaints would be that the main dining area was really loud at half capacity, prob due to the tables being fairly close together and the TVs being in high volume. The high top tables can seat 4 people, but aren't large enough for all their food and beer flights. We also didn't get silverware, napkins, or water until after our food had been served and we requested it. But I can understand it was a fairly busy night. The staff is efficient and friendly, and always willing to provide suggestions and help you navigate their vast menu of beers on tap. They have a really great Agave IPA made with locally sourced honey which is really cool! If unfiltered beers are your thing, they definitely have it, and do it well. Always the first stop for beer in Boulder when I'm in town from San Diego. Always an excellent selection of fresh beer that runs the spectrum. San Diego has gone all mango grapefruit lychee fruity crazy it's nice to land at an honest brewery dedicated to the craft of BEER. A recent flight of Eagle, Big Shot, Straight Cash, Homeslice, and Billy's Chilies left me toggling between Homeslice and Eagle all night. GREAT pretzels and Mac-n-Cheese (pizzas are rock solid too). Bar staff was terrific, wealth of info about the different beers, and the staff in general is super friendly and attentive - they all obviously like working here. This pub gets high ratings for casual atmosphere as well as good beer. We felt like we were hanging out with a bunch of young professionals which was really nice seeing as how it was happy hour. The deer was really good and I speak selection. The hummus with outstanding. I could tell it was freshly made in the restaurant. I had the Mac and cheese and the chicken in it was dry and chewy, and some pieces were hard. To top it all off, we waited forever to get our check. Nobody asked if we wanted another drink. I had to go to the bar and pay up there. We could have walked out without paying, and nobody would have noticed. They're lucky we tipped. Just don't go here. There are way better breweries around that have way better beer, food, and service. read more
