Vision Quest is a microbrewery in Boulder that has been doing it the right way for awhile now. Until my visit last weekend, it had been years since I had been in the taproom. Nothing has changed whatsoever. From the funky mural on the garage door to the sticker-lined walls of the cooler to the remote location on the less popular side of Boulder, Vision Quest is proof that us beer lovers still long for breweries of this nature. See Andrew H's recent review for his spot-on analysis! The beer selection rocks. Pales, porters, IPA's, lagers, sours, stouts, and ambers. Quality over quantity, while still maintaining a variety of flavors. I was in a pale/IPA mood last Friday, and the Hoosier Head and Boombox were quite tasty. Only a few seats at the bar, but plenty of seating indoors. If the weather is nice, you'll find everyone sitting outside staring at the mountains. They host community events, vinyl nights, have a bunch of board games, etc. These are the breweries of yesteryear. The one that skyrocketed the craft beer movement. They are a dime a dozen these days. Vision Quest is one of them, and you can still find that magic here. read more

This is the type of brewery that used to be all over America, but that you rarely find anymore: A tiny production brewery with a bolted on customer-facing area that brews great beer first and focuses on cute ambiance second. Granted the ambiance here is very fun, it feels 'college' in the best sense of that term. The young people running that taps and hanging out gave me hope for the future. Crazy that chill college breweries like this still exist! Especially in a town with basic-ass hotels for $700/night. read more

Chill, vibey, brewery. I'll admit we did want something outside on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon in May, but we also wanted to ride our bikes from downtown so ended up here. We were still able to bring our dogs. And the inside is decorated really fun - black light/space themed. We were the only ones in there when we first got there but by the time we left it was filling up and a band was setting up. Cool name and logo, and maybe the best selection of stouts and porters of any brewery we've tried since moving to Colorado. I enjoyed my flight of the Chocolate cherry amaretto stout, endless lunch dessert stout, and the magical liopleurodon. The first one was probably my favorite, and the last one, with its strong chili pepper taste kind of wore on me by the end. My wife enjoyed her vanilla alley, but with its 14% alcohol, she wisely decided one was enough. This brewery is kind of a hole in the wall back in a warehouse area, but the vibe was cool, the bartender was friendly, and the beers were good. We hung out in the outdoor area in the parking lot with our pup, enjoying a nice Boulder summer day. Will definitely be back. read more

Vision Quest Brewery has been on my radar for a while and I was delighted to get it fitted in to the plethora of breweries I was paying a visit to on my trip. Beers are most definitely unique and out of the ordinary. I got a smoked beer, something I don't see very often called the Lichtenhaner. As I said. Very unique . This beer had a blending of smoky(obviously) with lemony and woody flavors. It definitely provided a unique beer experience and one that I was fond of. read more

I had a most excellent time here at Vision Quest about a month ago. In the heat of summer, I was so disappointed with Avery I thought there must be a better way in Boulder. I looked up nearby breweries and saw this pop up. Glad I did! I loved the sour in the taster glass, notes of raspberries were perfect. The peanut butter stout was great as well, definitely kicked my butt good. Love the atmosphere and scenery inside, reminds me of a hippy den! We were visiting from Massachusetts and this brewery was highly recommended. We went in there on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was a little crowded but we finally got into the bar. They had live music playing. We got our beers. They had a space jam sour that I got and I really liked it. I rated it 4.5 on Untapped. But overall, it seemed like an okayish place. The beertender couldn't offer a lot of suggestions and we couldn't get any tasting. They had well designed apparel and attire and glasses, but I wasn't feeling it. I really have to get in on the place to buy it, We had our beers and then left. Rating is going to be 50% for beer, 30% for service and 20% for everything else. Love this local gem. It's off the beaten path so finding it is a treat all in itself. Offerings are sublime and sometimes the music playlist is straight from my teenage dreams. Parking is plentiful. Some friends and I were on a quest for some beer. Pedaling away, the vision appeared on the horizon and we rejoiced. Okay. I'll be honest. Vision Quest Brewery isn't much to look at on the outside but it's fun on the inside. Games, music, more stickers than you can count. Crazy beers (or at least the names) and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd recommend something but who knows if it'll be on tap when you arrive. Instead, I'd recommend checking this place out and the others in the immediate vicinity while you're at it. No driving required, though a little stumbling may be in order if you overdo it at Vision Quest. read more

Come on over and visit 'Fat Patrick'(who is not even close to fat BTW). Whether it is day drinking or in the evening this place is serving up SMILES & SUNSHINE in the middle of a Boulder industrial area. Honestly, I don't even drink beer that much, but Patrick had me sample a few before I found my new fave: Bad Dad Jokes. COMPLETELY REFRESHING with Bad Daddy's Texas BBQ delights, especially the luscious brisket, juicy pork ribs & the smoked mac & cheese. Went here on a Saturday afternoon right when they opened. When we walked in there were about 6 people at the bar. We stood at the bar for about 5-10 minutes looking at the menu and waiting for a bartender cause there was none behind the bar. As we were waiting one of the people sitting at the bar got up and poured himself a beer and then started to walk past us then turned around and asked us if we needed something. We asked for some tasters. Then we saw another bartender come from the back. Beers were decent. IPA and Porter were good. After the people at the bar left the bartender working then came over to see how we liked the beers. Not the best customer service. Decent beers but nothing special. Went in on a Wednesday night and there was live music. Limited seating there as the brewery itself is pretty small. They do all smaller batch brews, so you can try a lot of different and unique beers. Field trip to the exasperated worm farm was my favorite beer. The sours aren't too sour so don't be afraid to try one! The artwork really makes this place unique. We picked up a tasting glass with their artwork on it to add to our collection, and it'll definitely stand out. read more

Vision Quest is a great brewery! It's on the smaller side and has less options than some of the more well-known places around Boulder, but their beer is great and the bartender who served us was friendly and helpful. I had a great IPA and my friend had a sour- the sour was amazing! Definitely try their fruitier beers when you come, that seems like their speciality. The ambience was nice and the walls had some cool murals to fit the theme. Our bartender also gave us a sticker when we asked. They have a selection of board games and pinball as well. The only downside would be that it can be a little hard to find and get to, but the minor hassle is definitely worth it. A must try in Boulder! read more

Well, I'd be lying if I said I feel welcome. I don't get more than two words from either employee and my thank you's don't even get a nod of the head. Not to mention the two employees (one presumably the owner) have went to the back leaving me alone, only to come around the corner every few minutes to seem extremely annoyed that I am still sitting here. Perhaps I don't fit their preferred cliental. Or maybe they are just having a bad day. Either way, I am pretty surprised to see it's got nothing but awesome reviews. Maybe it's just me... On a less personal note: Definitely give the Coconut IPA a try. I must admit, it might be my favorite IPA yet. Vision Quest is tucked away in an industrial park - which I liked. The beer was tasty - I was drinking a citrus beer. The selection rotates frequently from what I've heard. There's a big selection of games and puzzles that are fun for groups. My group enjoyed sitting outside playing cards. The bartender didn't really seem to care about taking people's cards and keeping track of how many beers they drank. I don't know if they're just really trusting or really scatterbrained, but it stressed me out. A group was having a party in the side room. Looked like a nice spot to have a get-together! read more
