I really enjoyed this cozy brunch spot in Downtown Vancouver! Arriving around 10 am on a Sunday morning, we were quoted a wait time of about 30 minutes, but were fortunately seated much quicker than that -- the guy taking names down (I believe he was a manager), was super friendly and welcoming! They'll text you when your table is ready, so you can wander around the area during long wait times. The restaurant is pretty small, so expect a bit of a wait if you're coming through over the weekend! I ordered the ratattouile, which came with two poached eggs, sausage, sourdough toast and salad. There's been much hype on Twisted Fork's brunch for years now. I'm a huge fan of brunch, so when my friend from out of town came, I took the opportunity to take him here. Their waits on the weekends are 1hr+ but since they serve brunch 7 days a week, we were able to avoid the long wait-time by going on a weekday. We had the Eggs Benny with bacon filler and the Croque Monsier. The food was OK, I wasn't a fan of the baked beans that came with the Eggs Benny and left that pretty much untouched; other than that, not much to say about either dishes good or bad. The portion size is definitely filling, probably because they use thick brioche toasts. I wish they were smaller for cheaper though so I would have room in my stomach to try their Banana Stuffed Brioche French Toast, which also looked huge, and which I see people raving about. But I need savory for my meals so I couldn't bring myself to just have a meal of French Toast. There are other restaurants that do this type of brunch better in Downtown; but not really on the Granville Strip so if I'm craving brunch on a weekday and in the area, I'd return. read more

The one thing that BC constantly seems to do proper is brunch. It's good stuff. It's delicious. First time coming into Vancouver I decided to try Twisted Fork and was impressed. Got the Eggs Benny as it is a constant bfast craving for me (and maybe oreo donuts.) I asked the waitress what the move was for the benny and she said that ham with portobello mushrooms and carmelized onions were the move so I listened and had some top tier benny. BC mushrooms are something different, it tastes so much better here than most places. Could've sworn these mushrooms were freshly grown and picked in the restaurant. The poached eggs and ham sat on top of a brioche that was super fresh and the sides of sauteed spinach, rosti and baked beans was great. Pretty sure I finished those beans and spinach before the actual benny. Service was fast and friendly, and I would definitely come back to try whatever else on the menu here. That benny was solid. All the hipsters flock to this place and have moved Twisted Fork to the top of the hot Yelp list. Hipster I am not, hippo maybe... but not hipster. But sure enough, the coolness meter has proven right this time as this has to be the best meal we had in our brief Vancouver sojourn, hands down. We had tried the more granny-friendly Seasons in the Park and that novelty on a bun, Japa Dog, but this dining experience stands out for the knockout brunch menu. Jamie W. and I came here on a Sunday morning and surprisingly, only had to wait about five minutes before we were seated semi-privately in the back next to two young, mixed-race guys who were obviously on their first date. They made us feel like the old Russian Jewish couple in "Fiddler on the Roof". "Is this the little girl I carried? Oy! Is this the little boy at play? Oy!" Anyhow, once I took my teeth out of the water glass, we were cajoled by the obviously neophyte waitress to try the C$3.50 Asiago Scones. Deliciously homemade, especially with the little mug of whipped cream and blackberry preserves (see photo). All brunch entrees are C$11, an excellent deal for the portions served. Jamie went for the Bacon and Brie Frittata, a healthy serving, souffle-light and not too eggy, with plum tomatoes, fresh oregano and shredded collard greens with a sweet corn relish on the side (see photo). Tasty and savory. However, I ordered the true winner, the Eggs Benny, a couple of poached eggs sitting on a toasted slice of buttery brioche with a pile of crispy bacon and sauteed spinach. On the side were a ramekin of baked beans and a wedge of rosti, or Swiss-style hash browns (see photo). That was ridiculously good. Rounding out the meal was a generous beaker of French press coffee that I couldn't possibly finish on my own unless I was planning to jump over the Capilano Suspension Bridge later. If I was a resident of Vancouver, I would dye my hair purple, so I could feel like I belong in this place. But alas, you could stick a tourist sticker on my forehead and put me in over-sized Bermuda shorts, and I would still show up here. Hipsters beware. The L-7's will be back in town again! A blustery wind pushes me into the warm interior where a server immediately offers to bring me french press coffee - as I wait for my friend to arrive. Across the street a guy with dreads beatboxes and breakdances madly to a song that only he is able to hear. The space is small but used well and decorated cleverly. Someone suggested doing Twisted Fork in the morning, and silly me, I thought that was a typo. This is an "L" shaped pipe cleaner wide, urban, grunge, chic, slice of terrific fare. Inside, everything is as cute as litter of Labradoodle puppies. The tables are set cheek to cheek so you can check all the cheeks because you've got to make a quarter turn sideways to get down the hall. It's a grotto of great grub. Half the room is painted dark cranberry (makes you think you're dining in an Ocean Spray bottle) and there is some art for sale. More importantly, there is an entire wall of house made things on offer that were pickled, tickled, wiggled and jiggled in the kitchen. (Sounds like amateur night at the pole dancin' parlor). Brussell Sprouts, Okra, Jams and Jellies, Mustard, Ketchup, Salsa, Aliens, and the list goes on. The Staff: Sistah Sarah was as sweet as the pastries made in house. The Food: But before we get there, it's time to caffeinate. The Java comes screaming hot in a French Press. So, no hailing the busser for a refill of bitter brew. Sarah comes with it to supervise and give detailed instructions on how not to cause a major flood or squirt your neighbor with thermonuclear hot Joe. A steady push, and then let it rest before it goes carefully in the cup and then down your gullet. Excuse me, yes, there is a trick to all of that. The Asiago Scones (two sconettes to an order) come molten hot from the oven. This might be the one time something so cheesy is really a good thing. The Banana Bread (neh, cake) made me think of my sainted Mum's version which was the one thing she could manage to make well enough to eat often. T.F.'s Banana Bread was spot on and as those bananas died for my sins, and I have sinned aplenty, it was the least I could to hog the whole small loaf. I couldn't keep my paws off the wedge. Served with house made Marmalade, Strawberry Jam and whupped up butter it was far better that them delicious bananas ended up in the T. F. Banana Bread instead of being the guest star in a Middle School Health and Social Responsibility course. The Baked Eggs with Gruyere, was truly a trencherman's breakie. A ramekin topped to the rim akin to a souffle. Melted Gruyere married to baked Eggs. Doesn't it make you want to spoon for a hour or so? The mini casserole comes with a Roasted Roma Tomato, a triangle of crispy well done Hash Browns, done well, two thumb thick slices of fresh baked Sour Dough Toast, two lobster claw sized strips of crisp Bacon and a small Cup-o-Beans, baked just right. I would have enjoyed it just as much (okay, maybe not exactly) if they had dumped it all in a Vitamix and served it as a smoothie. Finally, there was the wrestling match with the Chip Card reader. Sarah to the rescue again. She patiently explained how it was important that the restaurant be paid and not to panic. Breathe, breathe. I did, and managed to get it done. It seemed to require an advance degree from M.I.T. just to pay the bill, but that's all part of the adventure. So, rev up the torque, pop a cork (yes, they have liquor too if that's your thing before noon). Only a dork, a gork, or a baby dropped by the stork would miss the Twisted Fork. Don't ya just know? With nearly 1000 reviews, there's little new to be written about the Twisted Fork, but nonetheless I'll share my recent brunch experience. A friend and I sat in one of the corner tables by the window. The interior space felt extremely hot, so much so that I was repeatedly draining my water glass throughout the meal. The brunch menu is very egg-heavy. I'm OK with eggs, but if you're looking for a protein option besides that, your choices are all pork-based. I opted for what seemed to be a glorified English breakfast--scrambled eggs with stewed tomatoes, spinach, potatoes rosti, and homemade sourdough toast. This is a substantial plate of food, and for $17.50 a pop, I found myself trying to make decent work of it. Each component was quite tasty (such as the carmelized onions that are hashed into the eggs), but I would've been just as happy with a portion about half that size, and half the price. The early morning scene in this stretch of sidewalk can be a little bleak, but the Twisted Fork prevails. Next time I would try to split one of the brunch items with a friend. read more

Tried their blue fence special yesterday, its a 3 course meal, for $25, available Mon-Thurs between 6-7 pm. They have a few marked items on the menu which are available for this option, but for the desserts - u can choose from the full dessert menu. Starter : grilled sourdough, came with goat cheese and was covered in (too much) pesto - overall it ok ! 3/5 Entree : pacific cod with asparagus and potatoes - the fish was cooked perfectly - not too dry and not too raw, but the sauce that it came with could have used a little bit more seasoning. but that was the only negative, on the whole it was quite delicious ! 4/5 Dessert : chocolate terrine with raspberry sorbet - to die for ! this was the best part of the meal - too bad I was pretty full from previous courses to finish it all. 5/5 Might go back to try their brunch menu, and I know i'll definitely go back for the desserts. Everything on their menu looked very tasty and for $25 - it was definitely worth every penny ! The restaurant itself is a little small and it gets hot in there when more people start to show up, we went at around 6:30 and didn't have to wait to get a table, but I imagine it gets crowded over the weekend (due to lack of space). My husband arrived at 11:00AM on Sunday morning and it was packed. Was it worth the 45min wait for the table? You bet it was! I love the theme of the whole restaurant. There's even little twisted forks on the menu clip board. The food? I was thoroughly impressed. The portions are big and we couldn't finish the food. Between the 2 of us, we had the: 1. The asiago scones - melted in my mouth and the asiago wasn't too overpowering 2. The bacon, caramelized onion and brie frittata filled with potato - ooey gooey cheesey eggy bacon.... *wipe drool 3. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon - The eggs were still runny, but not too runny that it leaked everywhere and the smoked salmon was fresh. The sauteed spinach was the perfect compliment. The frittata has a corn relish served with it that adds a bit of tangy flavor and balance to the eggs. I enjoyed the basil and caper vinaigrette on the greens. The scones are pillow soft, served with butter and a serving of mango jam. I was curious about the savory and sweet combination, however it works! I have never had such fresh and light scone as these. Large groups are discouraged because space is limited. Single diners can take a seat at the bar when available (must wait your turn). Coffee, served in a French Press, is delicious. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They only seat diners until 2:30 pm, so get there early. read more

Trap Money Benny! This place really has be in my feelings. The eggs benny-dict (ha!) was divine. It comes with your choice of protein on a warm slice of BRIOCHE bread! The bread was my favorite part about this dish. It makes a much better platform than the typical english muffin. My second favorite part were the sides. Walked in on a weekday, was sat right away at a booth. There are not many tables, but the decor was cute, there is a bar so it feels less restauranty and more local dive barish....which I don't hate. I simply asked the waitress for the best thing on the menu, she recommended the eggs benny. OH MY GOSH. I got them with ham, cause that's how you should always order a benedict. I ordered my regular, egg Benedict! To my surprise, the spinach & beans was a good mix of taste and flavour. Well to eat together. As the beans were a bit overpowering in taste and the spinach was plain. Put it together and it tasted great! The hash-brown was done perfectly. Crispy on every bite. Just don't order the coffee. Twisted Fork was a really good surprise to find in Vancouver for breakfast in the morning. A small group of friends and I decided to venture out and find some good breakfast before we had to work. We went to Twisted Fork and they told us it would be about a 55 minute wait. They took my cell phone number and said it really would not be a full 55 minutes. We ventured off to find some coffee and about 30 minutes later we got a text that our table was ready. The menu is not huge but everything looked and sounded amazing. After reading Yelp reviews I knew exactly what I was going to get from this place. The wait staff was super friendly and talked with us the whole time and gave us a ton of suggestions. I decided to get the banana stuffed french toast with a side of bacon. The french toast was a huge portion. You get three huge pieces and it comes with whipped creme on top. They give you small amount of syrup but it did not need it and tasted great. The bacon was wonderful. I loved it with a little fat on it. The french toast with the bacon was both salty and sweet. It was a great dish and tasted amazing. A friend talked about the Asiago Scone so a person I was with got one and let us all taste it. It looked great and tasted great as well. The scone had plenty of pepper and cheese mixed into it. If I find myself back in Vancouver you can for sure bet I will be back at the Twister Fork... I came here with two friends and service was great, but food was just alright for me. I order the croque monsieur and I found it too salty for my liking. I did enjoy that it came with a side of salad, but because the sandwich itself was too salty, I didn't enjoy the dish itself that much. Super retro/hipster interior. Staff was super friendly though!! I was told that this place had the best French toast in Vancouver. I believe it might be an over-hype :( we came here on a Saturday for brunch. And the wait was about 40 minutes. We began the meal by sharing the banana bread. It tasted entirely different from what I was used to. It was NOT the kind of bread that was super soft and moist, with a nearly "gooey" center. Anyways... if you like the kind of banana bread that is kind of dry, go for it! I had the famous banana French toast. When the dish was served, I was amazed by its presentation and had an extremely high expectation on the taste. But the bread, again, was a tap dry... maybe it was a common issue with all the bread dishes? Or it was just my personal preferences IDK. the banana stuffing was amazing though! Having it together with the cinnamon cream was just like eating the caramelized banana, which happened to be one of my personal favorites hahaha My friend's frittata was pretty standard, nothing that really stood out. Never fails to impress! One of the best spots on Granville for brunch. Bring all your friends/family here for great food and service. I always go for the Poached eggs and Ratatouille served with honey lager pork sausage, green salad, sourdough toast and house made jam! It is a large portion and is delicious. The french toast is also amazing and great for sharing as it is massive! Make sure you arrive with your whole party in tow! They only seat you when everyone is present and sometimes it is really busy so you might have to wait. It's worth it though! While exploring Vancouver on the first day of our trip, my friend and I walked past here without going inside because we were not hungry. The twisted fork on the menu intrigued me though and we returned the next day for brunch. When we entered the restaurant the host quickly greeted and then we had a seat within 5 minutes. We did go on a Monday though so we did not have to wait for the weekend crowd. The space instead is extremely relaxing and definitely has a brunch feel. After looking at the menu I ordered an eggs benedict and my friend ordered a ratatouille. Our food came out fairly quickly. The eggs Benny was delicious and so were the sides that came with it! On a Sunday morning, without prior reservation for brunch, knowing that finding a table at a good restaurant would be tough in a city like Vancouver, we stepped out of our hotel pretty early, around 8:30 to find a good place. About an hour and a half later and after checking out several places (all of them fully booked for the day), we found twisted fork. They had a waitlist that would be update online as well letting you know your place in line and how much longer you should wait. 20 minutes later, we were seated in this cute little restaurant with twisted forks on the menu. We were a big party, so we got to order an array of dishes and try many things. The best thing was their banana stuffed french toast and I am not even a big fan on french toast. I cannot remember the last time I ordered french toast just because they are not that special. But theirs was amazing!!! The fruit bowl and scones were really tasty too. Overall, really satisfied! Not a bad breakfast/brunch spot. Located on Granville across the Best Western in an easy-to-miss spot if you're driving. On the inside, it's kind of tight. The room is long and narrow, and if you're sitting on the outside part of your table, you'll probably get bumped by people walking by. The menu is designed to be a clipboard with a fork with twisted prongs wired onto it, hence the name of the establishment. Ordered off the brunch portion and got the scrambled eggs. The eggs are cooked up and mixed with some sweet caramelized onions. Interesting touch of flavor, but it's good. Also, came with rosti (pretty much a hash brown) and sautéed spinach. Their ketchup is supposed to be some kind of special and they sell it separately, if you're into that. For what you get though, I think $16.50 CAD is reasonable. Overall, it's a viable option if you don't have the time or patience to wait for some place else. read more
