4.3 twisted stars! I finally got to experience Twisted Fork for myself. Having avoided it a few times due to line ups (my fault as I usually leave things to the last minute). Thirsty? A few worthy beers on tap. I had 2 pints of the Blue Buck. Seriously smooth. Hungry? Probably the best mussels (sauce) I have ever had. It is drinkable! So... I did. Flank steak was less impressive. I prefer better cuts. But the baked beans were very unique and the brie on the steak was an interesting touch. All in all a damn fine meal. Full of different flavours and ingredients I wouldn't normally mix. My only regret was not being able to try the Carmel Napolean dessert Raymond raves about. So, I shall return for a late night drink and dessert. read more

Read the reviews, so I decided to check it out while in town. Had the bacon & brie frittata and was pretty happy with it. I liked the corn that came with it. It added a nice element to the dish, but the frittata itself could have been more flavorful. My friends had the banana stuffed french toast and that was pretty darn good. Couldn't believe how much butter it came with! I must say, the portions are huge, especially for the price. All in all, we were very pleased. I think I'd come back and see what the other menu items are like. read more

You must not leave Vancouver without eating here. If you live in Vancouver, lucky you! My friends and I came here for brunch on Saturday morning and figured we'd be better off showing up at 9:50 am, right before the place opens. Good call because the wait can get crazy if you're much later than that. We put down 3 French presses (yay for awesome coffee!), 2 Banana French Toasts and 1 Artichoke Omelet. I had the omelet and while it was fantastic it had way too much butter. I somehow ended up with butter on my hands and halfway through the meal, butter lip gloss. If you're remotely lactose intolerant or watching your waistline you'll ask the server to tone it down on that. I left feeling like a can of Crisco. But the food was great, as was the coffee so I spent the afternoon walking off the gluttony on Robson Street. My omelet, despite the stick of butter, was really good and the sourdough toast was enormous (also coated in butter). Their homemade jam is perfect. I avoided the Banana French Toast only because I'm not really supposed to eat bread or pasta of any kind. I did get to taste it though and it was phenomenal. If you are fortunate enough to be able to eat bread I would go straight for the French Toast. Be aware that it easily feeds TWO people (share!). The brunch is a steal at $11/entre, especially given the quality and presentation of the food. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in town. read more

Twisted Fork, let me count the ways I love you. I dream of your gruyere baked eggs every weekend and have yearned for it brunch, after brunch. The fullness, richness and sheer deliciousness of this brunch dish leaves me longing for none other. Your mussels? Just the thought of these bivalves cooking in that delicious creamy broth makes my heart palpitate. I must tell you, the bread makes for an amazing broth vessel. Your chocolate terrine of dark chocolate mousse, frozen raspberries and a touch of coulis will bring me back to you time and time again. read more

Homemade jams, boooooyaaaaaaa...I love you banana jam! I think it has rum in it, or at least it tastes like it does! I tried banana french toast, and it does not disappoint; the portion is huge though! I love it! I also tried asiago scones and salmon with ORGANIC greens and hazelnuts (awesomeness!). Also, I bought two jars of jam (banana and strawberry). They are $8 each. Now I am enjoying them with waffles for every breakfast!yay Go fridays before noon since it is not that busy then. You gotta try this place! Seriously, go there! I love you french cuisine! Thank you for using butter:D read more

Huge portions! Great food! The banana bread was to die for! Coffee was delicious as was our food. Only complain is that it was way to hot inside, maybe their AC was not working. Worth a try while in Vancouver. read more

Doesn't live up to the reputation :( The Good: Their text message queue system is great; every place should do this. The asiago scones w quince jam were amazing! The Bad: We each got an eggs benny, 2 with Smoked Salmon, 1 with Turkey Sausage. The flavour was very bland (even the smoke salmon itself tasted weak), and the bread had a very odd, powdery/ashy texture. I was appalled when the bill arrived: Tea is $4, and this was no fancy tea. We're talking Lipton or maybe Stash wholesale sachets. Elbow Room on Davie is half the price and much better. If you're looking for a quality higher-end brunch, this is not your place. Try Brioche in Gastown. If you're prepared to wait 45 mins for even better, head to Café Medina instead. read more

Brunch here was pretty amazing! Came in after looking at the menu most of our party of 8 decided on the smoked salmon bennys. The dishes came with a generous serving of smoked salmon with some perfectly done poached eggs...just the right amount of runny and bright orange yolks! I didn't have a mimosa but my friends who did said they were just "okay." Also they were $8, a little steep for mid-morning tippling. The dinner menu on the website looked good too; will definitely have to be back to try it :) read more

We are taking a 3 day weekend in Vancouver this weekend and stumbled across this restaurant (through Yelp). Sooooo glad we did.....this place was awesome! Service - outstanding Food - outstanding Atmosphere - outstanding The attention to detail was amazing....they worked the "twisted fork" logo pattern in to the powder sugar sprinkle on the plate of the dessert for example. We were totally impressed by this place. Not one negative comment can I think of. It was a teeny bit pricey, but well worth it! read more

I was hoping for great things based on the reviews and given my love of brunch but the experience was lackluster. While the service and the friendliness of the staff was fantastic, the food itself was not. I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and found that bread was both far too thick and dry. It didn't complement the meal. The smoked salmon was too heavy and also didn't match. I say this as a huge lover of smoked salmon. In all, the flavors were imbalanced and the meal disappointing. Vancouver may be mecca for sushi but if this best for brunch in the city, it really can't compare to any number of brunch spots in Toronto. read more

We stumbled upon this place by accident and we were so glad we did. LOVED our breakfast!!! We had the scrambled egg and the smoked salmon eggs Benny. Both so delicious and fresh... Flavours were off the roof!! Cup of coffee is actually a pot of freshly steeped French press. So smooth and silky. Tea was just plain old Twinings teabag. It would have been perfect if it was lose leaf tea from the Urban Tea Merchant. Maybe next time? read more

Womp womp... I wish I could give a 2.5. My family and I were visiting Vancouver for the first time and were told to try this place out for breakfast. The ambiance is cramped, dark, and dare I say a bit dreary? Service was perfectly fine but nothing out of the ordinary. As tourists with no data it was also a thumbs down on the fact that their free wifi wasn't working. Let's focus on why we came here though: the food. How can a breakfast spot not have fresh orange juice!? All four of us ordered different items and while it filled us up and was okay the issue is... well it was just okay. I'm not much of a cook but I felt like I could have cooked similar dishes. The eggs were slightly dry too. My recommendation: If you're visiting Vancouver for the first time and someone tells you you have to eat here - don't. There's plenty of other restaurants worth checking out. I'm not ripping on this place but let's just say this place is talked up WAY more than it should be. read more

Best brunch place in Vancouver! This place was recommended to us by a friend that had recently visited. We went here on our second day, first day we waited for an hour for a very popular place. There was no wait time and the food was amazing. Coffee is not fancy which is ok with. Bottomless French press coffee and the portions were large but not too big. I had the eggs benny which was amazing! read more

Best breakfast place in Vancouver, hands down. My most recent visit was for brunch with a good friend to catch up with. She ordered a french press for one, which is unique and amazing. I splurged and had an earl grey tea with milk (i don't do dairy often). Free refills of water for the tea is amazing. We also split the asiago scones, amazing. For the mains... I had the Banana-stuffed brioche french toast. Unique and TO DIE FOR. I had a bite of my friends the first time i went here and fell in love with it. The second time around, i realized that some of the toast was pungent with bananas. I passed on those bits to my friend who inhaled them with the creme fraiche. The highlight for me was the Croque Monsieur, made with brioche, fresh ham, and smothered with gruyere. Combined with their homemade tomato sauce, I could've eaten two or three. And then my stomach would burst with awesomeness... just like the french restaurant scene in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life." You will have to wait in line, it's inevitable... but it's worth the wait. Tourists and locals alike... GO THERE! Such a bright spot on Granville. read more

This is going to be a short review. Come here for the mussels! $8 for mussels and frites on Tuesdays. SO GOOD. Word of warning: It gets really packed during the mussels special so I would suggest getting someone to come here early just to put their name down. Amazing. read more

I wanted to write an update to say these guys made my birthday brunch unforgettable. They arranged for my group and I to occupy the entire back of the restaurant and made sure our every need was tended too. The food was excellent as always and the service as good as ever. Breakfast has always been my favourite meal so a friend and I decided to meet up for an early brunch as we'd heard the praises of Twisted Fork and how it rivals with Cafe Medina! My favourite breakfast spot in town minus the line up;) I arrived later than my friend who's luckily snatched a table for four as the line up just before 10am hadn't been that long. The space is small, narrow but cute so embrace yourself for neighbours listening on your conversations. The overall ambience is lacking partly due to the location of the space, being located in the dodgy part of Granville Street. The only memorable decor is the jars of home-made jams and pickles in a pantry setting by the washrooms which was unfortunate. My friend ordered the food salad that was accompanied with two fresh scones and watermelon jam. Although the jam was much better than smucker's but not as memorable. I decided to test out their french so order the Croque Monsieur which came with a side of greens and a tomato sauce. The first few bites were delicious but hard to finish as the ham was too greasy and took away from the cheese taste. The tomato sauce was a good try to add the wow factor but didn't quite reach the peak. I also was in need of a pick-me up so ordered the unlimited French Press, which again failed to hit home-run. Overall it was an ok meal but nothing to be blown away by. read more

This place makes me want to live in Vancouver again - it's that good. I don't care that I have to wait 45 minutes for a table, the croque monsieur with home made ketchup makes it all worthwhile. I was stuffed beyond belief but just had to finish the whole.damn.thing, it was that good. Do yourself a favour and order a scone with home made jam with your coffee while you wait for your food, it's perfect, fluffy, melts in your mouth and well...last time I ate there was about 6 months ago, and I can still remember how content I felt walking out that door. read more

"Hey Foodie Friend! Where should I go for brunch?" Twisted Fork. This restaurant has come up so very often when I have been asking for recommendations, or I overhear foodie friends telling others about it, or see their reviews raving for their experiences. Sadly, mine fell short. Service was inconsistent and somewhat impatient (for no good reason). Food quality fell far short of expectations, using lots of strong, overpowering flavours which felt like shortcuts. Wait time to be seated (after calling in ahead) and also after ordering were both horrendous. Seating is tight, restaurant is oversold resulting in a high noise level, and there was too much sunshine by the window (curtains could not be drawn down, despite asking staff) which impaired my ability to look up while dining with friends. I shall restrain myself from going on. I also seem to have poor luck with the take-away products (jams/sauces); they spoil rather quickly, despite my attempts to store them properly. Okay, one good thing... the presentation for the food was very well done. Entirely possible that my expectations were too high for Twisted Fork. If I'd gone in looking for any regular brunch, it's possible that I'dve rated this a three. However, Twisted Fork is widely celebrated in foodie circles and highly reviewed in Yelp. With that in mind, I was very disappointed and have no plans to be returning as a diner. read more

What a great find - thank you Yelp! I was on business in Vancouver and found Twisted Fork based on proximity to my downtown hotel and rating. Spot on, fellow Yelpers - Twisted Fork is fantastic! The Tuesday Night Mussels special is a great deal - a pound of perfectly done mussels with a great cream base for $8. I went for the duck, which was just as rare as it needed to be (I still don't get while people overcook it). The pear tarte tatin was absolutely stellar - the sour cream ice cream that it gets plated with really rounds out the dish. Wonderfully sweet staff, perfect portions and very reasonably priced. If I'm ever in Vancouver again, I'll happily be back! read more

Twisted Fork was our brunch spot right before we drove back to Seattle on our honeymoon. We got the banana filled french toast and the bacon, caramelized onion, and brie frittata. Both were amazingly delicious. I think we may have been spoiled a bit by our french toast experience in Seattle. This is why there are only 4 stars instead of 5. However, don't let that stop you from visiting this awesome place! The service was excellent and very polite. The waitress told us that she had been down to our area on a road trip to see a Canucks game. Being the hockey fan that I am, I enjoyed her story and the fact that she refilled my coffee a half dozen times. The restaurant itself is small and cozy. We got seated right away but people that came after us had to wait for awhile. Go for brunch and don't wait until you are starving and you should be good. read more

Maybe I just had incredibly high hopes after hearing so many people hear how amazing this place was, but I wasn't blown away. The food was good. Nay, it was very good. I loved how the brioche on my eggs benedict soaked up the hollandaise sauce and runny egg yolk to make a delectable crispy, sweet, gooey base for my generous helping of smoked salmon. I also really enjoyed the baked beans that came along with it. However, my friends and I lined up for an hour. I'm glad I tried it, but I feel like the menu wasn't innovative enough to convince me to line up again. I can get the same dishes at other places and they will probably be *almost* as tasty, and I won't have to spend half my morning in a line. I was disappointed that the offerings were very typical brunch fare that you could find almost anywhere. If I'm going to line up that long, it should at least be for something I couldn't get anywhere else. read more

This place was especially pleasing to me one two counts - my own carafe of french press coffee - and that they seem to specialize in eggs benny for brunch. I went there twice in a week while staying in Vancouver. The first time was traditional egg benny (ham) and the second time I chose smoked salmon. Sooo good The tables are kinda close together but the service was lovely. read more

Brunch at Twisted Fork was worth the wait. The portions are deliciously large and affordable at around $20/person. If you don't want to wait out front glaring at the diners, there's a coffee shop down the block you can camp out at for a little while with free wifi. Thanks for the yelp find! read more

Twisted Fork is a small hole in the wall that you might walk right by if you weren't looking for it, but that doesn't stop it from being super busy as well. The five of us only waited 10-15 minutes for a table, but the small restaurant was PACKED when we got in. The entire menu looked delicious, and we ended up getting two orders of the baked eggs, a fruit salad and Asiago scones, a Benny with ham and the salad. The Gruyere baked eggs come with beans and bacon, a rosti, hash browns and Roma tomatoes. I also asked for ketchup, but since they didn't have any, I instead got their homemade tomato sauce which was FRESH. The whole plate also comes with a little metal bucket of some spread - I mistakenly thought it to be sundried tomato paste but it was in fact strawberry jam (I was two drinks in and tipsy at this point - speaking of, the mimosas are great). The whole meal was PHENOMENAL and the waitress was a sweetheart! We didn't feel rushed and she had some great suggestions to make. Lastly, they sell a bunch of unique jams and jellies which can be found in the back - definitely take a gander because we saw mango vanilla, and cherry, and ended up with strawberry black pepper! read more

I love twisted fork. always have. This is where I bring my super fobby Asian friends or cheap sushi lover friends and turned them into wine lovers and foodies. Yes, it works. Every time. Although the brunch is what they are known for, I prefer to go there for dinner, when they have amazing daily deals. I was there last Tuesday when they had $8 Mussels (yes only $8 for one pound of delicious mussels!). My boyfriend and I had two glasses of wine (of course), the mussels and the ribeye and the bill only came to be around $40. We were Stuffed! so we scratched our original plan of taking taxi back and walked all the way back to our home. Okay so the food is AMAZING but ... the service... they are always little iffy. Their wait staffs are very... relaxed. It can be a good thing and a bad thing, i guess. They are not super attentive or super friendly but then they are not sloppy either. but definitely one of my favourite places to go to (especially on rainy days). read more

Actually I'm pretty turned off of this place now. The food is tremendous, but we live about a block away and can't make it work for breakfast, so we're done trying. Not stroller-friendly(they act like nobody's ever come in with a kid before), and silly lines in the morning. And you can't fault them for being busy and doing well, but they do a piss poor job of managing the line, you can be standing at the counter for ten minutes to get your name on the list and they won't even make eye contact. Fuck that. -------- Good food. Cheese plate was amazingly flavorful. Crab cakes were a bit small but still good. Simple but cozy decor. A bit tight, but not in a bad way. We sat at the bar, and the gentleman manning it was a cool dude, professional and fun to talk to. read more

This place is amazing! Went on the recommendation of Yelpers to brunch this Saturday. Wow was it good. Drinks were first class, scones were delectable, and the meals themselves were pretty phenomenal. Eggs Benedicts were ridiculously good. Only downside was the baked beans, but I don't much like baked beans to begin with so that was no big deal. One thing to take note of: this place is popular! Waited about 50 minutes for a table around 12:15. Totally worth it though. read more

This is an amazing brunch spot! Me and a friend visited from LA a couple of days ago and we had to make a stop before leaving. The stuffed French toast was amazing! And the mimosas were just the right balance. The best place is smaller than we expected but well worth it...a must try in Vancouver! read more

This place was sooo soo yummy!! I cant wait to come back and try more of what they have to offer. Highly recommend this place

Good service and good presentation, but very bland low quality food. Cheap bread, cheap meat, cheap, cheap, cheap.....not a good value. We wouldn't return and strongly suggest you have your breakfast elsewhere. read more

Oh gosh...BREAKFAST. So I've tried to eat here for breakfast at least 4 times, and without fail, on weekends, when I'm there by 9:15 am they are full and have a line up out the door. So this last Friday I had the day off, and had my beautiful mother in town, and so we decided we would try to get in for brunch. And good lord I am so glad that we did. The downside: $3.50 per person for coffee? Really? That's kind of dumb. Especially when you're sharing a french press. That's a $7 french press y'all. The upside: BANANA STUFFED BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST. ohmygosh. Vanilla whipped cream, delicious fluffy french toast STUFFED with warm bananas. It didn't even need maple syrup. It was just incredible. The other upside: smoked salmon eggs benedict. One thing this place is amazing at is multiple flavours on one plate. It was like a choose your own adventure for my mouth. Amazing bbq-y and smokey baked beans, perfectly crispy potato rosti, garlic sautéed spinach that somehow almost tasted creamy, And then the tastiest smoked salmon, with the butteriest, perfectest hollandaise. My eggs were more soft-boiled than runny - but regardless. It was delicious. I ate so much, and was so full and so satisfied. So what have I learned? That in the future I should not be stupid, and I should instead wait for the hour to get in for breakfast. so.so.sogood. read more

Brunch rocks! This time we stopped for brunch, and were equally impressed. At 10:30 AM Sunday we had about a 40 minute wait for a table. Tables for four people are somewhat cramped, but the same exceptional service and great options for food. I loved my Baked Beans on Toast topped with poached eggs, served with roasted tomatoes and sauteed spinach, and can't wait to return to try the Banana stuffed brioche french toast. Worth the wait. read more

I love vacation. Vacation means sipping a complex cocktail with raspberry puree and fresh lime at 11:30 a.m. on a Friday. It means eating a huge brunch on a weekday without fear of collapsing into my keyboard. By "huge brunch," I mean eggs benedict with smoked salmon on a tall, soft piece of brioche with a side of rosti (hillbilly translation: hashbrown patty), baked beans and sauteed spinach that sits in a crispy mound, not a soggy sewage heap. The Twisted Fork further pushes you to the point of button-popping fullness with its lemon marmalade to accompany an enormous slab of sourdough toast. It is sold by the jar in back with other delicious preserves and pickled victuals. Jars so big it's twisted. read more

Brunch. Ah, Brunch. The beautiful B word that boasts a bygone era where one didn't want to watch the belly or be conscious of the long C word which led to one. It's a small place, with a medium sized menu which is heavy on the calories but it's darned good. The french toast is awesome, and a sizeable portion. I didn't even finish mine, and I eat quite a lot. Really, how can any fried bread with bananas and cinnamon not be good? this is a no brainer. The eggs benny was also good. Coffee was above average, but I wouldn't rave about it as others reviewers had. Not much left for me to say that the other few hundred reviews haven't already touched upon - but try to arrive early to avoid the lineup! read more

I have been to Twisted Fork a couple of times for brunch (primarily because of the high reviews on yelp) on various trips up to Vancouver and I have never been blown away by the experience. I think an overall rating of 4 stars miiight be a bit generous. The first time I came here I got the Eggs Benny with smoked salmon and the biscuit was pretty dry for my taste. It was distractingly dry, in spite of all the hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce was good though. It was creamy and buttery, but still not quite enough to compensate for the biscuit. Perhaps it was just an off day for the biscuit baker? Whatever the cause, I'm hesitant to get one again. I'm not a big breakfast time drinker, but there is a nice selection of breakfast cocktails if that's yo' thang. The thing that really gets me about this spot is that there's a long wait to get a table every time. We waited an hour and a half the first time and an hour the second time for a table. I would say that if you're planning on coming for a Saturday or Sunday brunch, you can expect to wait AT LEAST 45 mins. I don't think it's worth that much time. As far as I know, there's no reservation system in place for brunch, but that would be nice since it would certainly reduce the amount of time you're just standing around on Granville St debating whether or not to just cut your losses and go to the place next door to fill the increasingly large void in your stomach. I'm willing to give this place another shot in the future, but I think I'm going to go try a couple other brunch spots before I do. read more

So glad we went here! We drove up to Vancouver from Seattle and stopped here first. The place clearly gets packed, so you might have to wait a bit, but we managed to get seated quickly. They don't really seat you . . . kind of sort of not really . . . The brunch items are all $11, unless you decide to add stuff. But, with the choices they have, I think there is enough food to keep you satisfied as is. If you think there aren't enough options, then go look for an Ihop or Denny's, or something like that. I got the eggs benny with smoked salmon (looooooooooooooooved it with the brioche and runny eggs . . . omg) and my SO got the scrambled eggs and asparagus. Plenty of sides with the dishes--his had blackberry jam with buttered bread that he said didn't need to be buttered. They make all of the jams on site, and it certainly tasted fresh! Great food, friendly staff, and we managed to roll ourselves (big portions!!) out of there with a happy start to our trip. Bad parts? I wish it was a little brighter and a little bigger, but I guess the darkness helps with the numerous customers who came with hangovers. ;-) read more

The brunch here is pretty good, but i wouldn't consider it earth shaking. Eggs benny is pretty good; eggs were cooked to perfection. My main issue was that both that, and my wife's stuffed French toast were made with brioche bread, and I'm not a huge brioche fan. The line up for a Sunday brunch was about an hour, but at least you can check out some shops while you wait. The Brutus (Caesar basically) is awesome, even though it looks like a glass of muddy water. read more

The other night I came to the Twisted Fork for dessert on the recommendation of the many positive reviews from Yelp. At first, we were a little taken aback by the proposed 1/2 hour wait. But while we dallied outside the busy restaurant, we overheard several random passerbys comment on the quality of the food here so we decided perhaps it may be worth the wait. We were pleasantly surprised when the manager offered us seats at the mini bar area in the back while we waited for the next available table. While we studied the dessert menu, I ordered a chamomile tea and my friend ordered the Howe Sound Nut Brown Ale which, being a fan of fuller-flavoured beers, she was quite delighted by. It wasn't long before we were seated at a U-style booth which offer patrons options to sit across from each other or side by side. We ordered the Creme Caramel and Caramel Napolean. Wow! The Caramel Napolean was especially impressive and unique. The housemade maple ice cream was so Canadian that I suddenly felt very patriotic. hehehe My friend and I devoured our desserts and decided that we will definitely be back for brunch, dinner and probably another dessert very soon! By the way, extra kudos to the staff and manager for being so friendly and awesome well into the late evening (we were there til almost closing) despite being so obviously busy! That's quite a feat! read more
