They blocked off part of the parking lot, had live music going, and the whole place had that fun, lively energy you want on a holiday like this. Because of the crowd, the menu was trimmed down to the more popular items, but it still had plenty of good options. I ended up getting their Irish eggrolls, they're hand‑rolled and stuffed with house‑cured corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese, then sliced and served with their Thousand Island dressing. Basically, it's all the flavors of a Reuben wrapped up in a crispy shell, simple, rich, and exactly the kind of thing that works well at an event like this because its quick and its finger food you can eat while watching the band,. Overall, the atmosphere was great, parking is such a hassle though during these events on the weekend because H-Mart nearby is already so packed. You can park on the other side of the building if you don't mind a brief walk though.

Feb 2026 I was craving a burger and didn't have any ideas…read morewhere to go....then thought this local pub might be good and hopefully not too busy between parking and awaiting food as I was famished! I was greeted, then seated. I was provided a menu and specials...Prime Rib! After my hectic day, yes I will have that! I mentioned gluten free to my server before making decision. Plus seeing the loaded potato had me a bit worried as I cannot ear pork. I opted for salad once server checked to see if Caesar salad dressing is gf sans croutons. I requested salad with dressing on the side and to bring promptly before my dinner. Salad arrived by and server dressed and it was glistening.... I requested one with dressing on the side...server brought maybe I had two bites and dinner arrived! Salad can wait...prime rib cannot, even though I start with tasting potato. Prime rib was requested mid rare and it delivered. Potato was fine. I did not see the au jus nor horseradish sauce on the side. I did ask server while I was ready to pack it up and he said there was some confusion if there was/was not no gluten so not provided. Noteworthy as the salad a manager stopped by about the dressing and mentioned one type of salad dressing is now gf and one vegan. Good to have options. Disappointed to learn the fries are coated with flour then fried as an option with burger skip the bun...what about baked chips or air fry for those with food sensitivities as an alternative? Just a thought for management to consider please. I saved room for dessert and the mousse did not disappoint and was compted .... thank you! Fantastic! As I looked around there was a steady crowd entering along with regular patrons. Overall 4.5 stars for this visit. On a side note, this is a family friendly restauran/pub. Some servers look disheveled between sloppy hair and untidy uniform. For staff with long hair should be pulled back tight and away from food will prevent hair on the food! Uniform is simple black top and pants....should be clean and neat. A few servers looked like they rolled out of bed...if they are feeling ill, please stay home. Servers should make diners and patrons have a positive and pleasant experience and my server was definitely on point with emphasis on customer service and satisfaction....keep it up! Lastly, females please wear a bra or sports bra or a proper garment under uniform as it is family friendly restaurant, thank you!

The pub…read morehas a classic, very dark interior that definitely sets a specific "old-world" mood, and the two-level layout adds some nice character to the space. Our service was a little hit-or-miss. Our waiter was also managing the bar, which meant we weren't checked on as often as we would have liked. When we ordered, the items weren't read back to us, and unfortunately, the order did come out incorrectly. The drinks definitely a highlight! They were well-made and didn't skim on the alcohol. The meal was perfectly fine, but nothing particularly stood out as spectacular. It's solid pub fare if you're looking for a casual bite. Overall, McCoul's is a decent spot for a strong drink and a cozy, dim atmosphere. I'd love to see a bit more attentiveness on the floor, but it's still a place worth stopping by if you're in downtown Greensboro.

They have a good selection of Irish food and of course an extensive beverage menu. I have been to Ireland and M'Coul's does have that vibe of an Irish pub which is pretty cool, especially the first level. The bar area (with plenty of tables for dining) was packed and looked cozy, but the main dining area is huge and had only a few tables in use. We questioned our restaurant choice, but decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. We are so glad we did! The food was really good. Nice presentation and clearly, whoever prepared it is truly passionate about their job. The portions are large, so expect leftovers. We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer (similar to bang bang shrimp) and a chicken quesadilla as starters. Each could have been a meal on its own and both were delicious. (It's typical bar food - but done well.) For our main dishes we ordered Shepherds Pie (server's recommendation and favorite menu item ), Northern Fish Fry (cod); and a simple cheeseburger with bacon.. everything was tasty, nicely prepared, and again...large portions. The Shepherds Pie came with fresh steamed veggies that were wonderful and a nice surprise. *Note that cod is the Northern Fish Fry- but they also offer a catfish version. The wine was 50% off both by the glass and bottle, I believe that is their typical Saturday drink special. They have a prime rib special on Saturdays as well that is supposedly delicious, and served only until they run out. There is an 8oz or 12oz option. The server was fantastic as well. She was very attentive, knew the menu, and clearly enjoys her job. What more can you ask for? Prices: Our total bill (before tip) was $127 which included a couple drinks from the bar for each of us. The dinners we ate ranged from $16-$20. The starters were a bit pricey (~$18 for the quesadillas) but again, it was meal size and truly delicious. If you are hungry for a burger or typical Irish bar food, then give this place a try. Hopefully you'll have an experience similar to ours! (Our server was home from college for the holidays, so hopefully the rest of the staff is equally attentive.)

Every wall is lined with TVs playing whatever game matters most that night, while dollar bills cover the walls like a scrapbook of good times, tall tales, and nights that ran a little longer than planned. The décor nods proudly (and somewhat creatively) to Irish heritage, with touches of green, classic signs, and a love of good beer doing most of the storytelling. It's a place where locals gather, strangers become regulars fast, and the atmosphere is equal parts loud cheers, friendly debate, and comfortable familiarity. Unpolished, well-worn, and full of character, it's the kind of small-town sports bar where the drinks are cold, the TVs are always on, and everyone feels right at home. The menu leans into its claims of Irish roots with a lineup of familiar pub classics--hearty, comforting dishes that feel right at home alongside a pint. But as solid as those classics may be, the real standout is the good old pub burger. Cooked exactly the way you ask for it--perfectly rare, juicy, and full of flavor--it's the kind of burger that reminds you why simplicity done right always wins. Served up hot and fresh by a friendly face that treats you like a regular, it's not just a meal, it's part of the experience: honest food, genuine hospitality, and a plate that keeps people coming back. Cheers!
