We love this Snooze location because it's close to home - we were driving to Charlotte over the past couple of years and again when this location flooded. Service is typically consistent, and the food is usually prepared well. We visited twice over Labor Day weekend. Our first visit was phenomenal-everything was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. When we returned on Labor Day, it was clear they were severely understaffed. The app showed "no wait" while we were en route and again as we pulled into the parking lot, but when we arrived, there was a line. No big deal. We checked in, though the process felt very unorganized, and moments later the app updated to a 20-30 minute wait. I joined the waitlist on the app just in case. The line moved normally until we noticed that a couple and a group who checked in after us were seated before us. When we asked the hostess, she said she had texted us -- but after verifying the number, we confirmed no text was sent. She seemed overwhelmed and was multitasking nonstop, so I genuinely think it was an honest mistake. Once seated, we were lucky to have Kafira again- she had served us a couple of days prior and was just as personable and attentive this time. The restaurant was barely filled, and you could tell the staff was stretched thin, but Kafira and the other servers handled it with patience and a great attitude. I truly appreciate that. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service this time. My Eggs Benedict came out with medium-to-hard eggs. I let our server know, and she apologized (not her fault) and immediately brought out two more-also cooked medium/hard. That made the dish inedible for me. The pancake was great, and Kafira kindly comped one for the inconvenience. I will return to this location, but I hope management recognizes that being understaffed -while sometimes unavoidable - can lead to service inconsistencies and a decline in food quality. read more

Love the retro decor! This place is in Eastgate so there is plenty of parking. I was there early so I had quick efficient service and an absolutely delicious strawberry shortcake stack of pancakes. The strawberries & cream were fresh and a huge portion (1 pancake is an option); so I had leftovers for breakfast the next day that heated nicely. Coffee & bacon were perfect. We stopped into Snooze on a whim, hungry and hopeful -- it had caught our eye back in May. Walking in an hour before the kitchen closed, we flagged that my husband has Celiac disease and has to be careful. The hostess was warm and reassuring: Snooze takes gluten-free seriously, she said, and she'd seat us in the section with one of their best servers. That pitch is the only reason we stayed. What followed didn't match it. We were seated in a back area -- the same spot where off-shift staff were eating their last meals before closing. After a 10-minute wait, our server took our order (a protein bowl and a bunless burger). Then 23 minutes for the food, while the room visibly wound down: kitchen staff heading home, servers wandering past who clearly felt we weren't their table. When the food finally came and we asked if the kitchen was always that slow, there was no apology -- just that she'd only rung it in 20 minutes ago. The food was cold on the bottom, warm on top: the tell of a plate that sat under the heat lamp while nobody brought it over. No one checked back. Our glasses sat empty. Staff propped the back door open to close out, letting flies in -- which landed on our food. And the finale: our server appeared with the handheld Toast reader, holding the bill up for us to tap rather than setting it down -- the universal signal to pay and leave. For a restaurant that markets itself as allergy-conscious, rushing a Celiac diner's plate under a lamp and never returning isn't just poor service -- it's a safety concern. The concept has promise. Ok it may have been relatively busy but we got out on a waitlist and proceeded to see multiple parties get seated before us - I went up after waiting the allotted time and based on the girls reaction we should have been seated faster. So she walked us to a table... the waitress got our drinks pretty quickly but on the other hand the food we were waiting for a while to get. Again the people who sat AFTER us received their food before ours. Just was annoying honestly. As for ambience after looking around you can tell it's like a chain considered every foot of space has the logo all over it. Overall the food was good but it was really expensive for the quantity and what we got. Two pancakes (no sides) at $14 is nuts and I'm not talking about the pecans sprinkled on top. This is an updated review since last time I went was during their opening. Service was very slow. It took a long time to get someone to take our order for food. It seemed like there was not enough floor staff. As for the food, it was so good. The kitchen knows what they are doing. I had the crab cake Bennie and it was delicious and good portion size. Had breakfast here today and it was AMAZING! We had a bit of a wait because there were multiple large parties seated nearby, but that's expected on Saturday morning. The waiter was 10/10. He was helpful, funny, and personable. We hardly had to wait for our food which was a plus. My girl & I had been looking for a good breakfast spot in Chapel Hill where we could get quality Benedicts, and we finally found 1: Snooze, one of the newer locations at Eastgate, a shopping area that gets a lot of foot traffic even on weekday brunch times. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait to be seated at Snooze on a busy Wednesday brunch time. We were taken to a small table that's pretty close to an occupied table with 2 people in a cramped area; Despite Snooze's large and open space with a nice outdoor seating and a bar (probably the largest restaurant in Eastgate), it seems that there is a spacing issue, and it looks like there was only 1 waitress assigned to our section. She said her name is Baj, and I'll talk about her customer service later, but first: the food! I ordered the Barbacoa Chile Verde Benny & my girl ordered the Smashed Avocado Benny & we got a blueberry pancake for us to share. Orders arrived in about 12 min., which is relatively fast considering Snooze's busy brunch time. It was my first time trying a Benny with Barbacoa (shredded beef - Mexican barbecue style), and the meat tasted as what I expected from a Barbacoa dish, and there was a fine amount in my Benny. Instead of English muffin, this one has a layer of tortilla in the bottom. The green chile sauce, melted cheese. green chile hollandaise, pico de gallo & cotija cheese all create a Mexican twist to a typical Benedict, but after trying this, I think I still prefer a typical Benny with ham, English muffin, etc,. There was issue in my order: 1 of the 2 eggs it came with was cooked too long, so it's more like a hard-boiled egg than a poached one, so I told Baj about it, and a manager came to check what the problem was. She asked what wanted, replacing the one wrongly-cooked egg is just fine, and she said they could do that, so I received the 1 replacement egg. I ended up eating that 1 egg by itself because I already devoured the rest of the Benny while waiting. Other than that mistake, the Bennys were generally satisfying with a healthy amount of well-baked hashbrowns on the side. My girl enjoyed her Smashed Avocado Benny, which looked quite healthy, with large slices of tomatoes, just the right amount of avocado & everything else. The $6+ blueberry pancake we shared was fine but they did not serve enough syrup, and the server did not even bother to ask if we need anything else, so we weren't able to ask for more. Snooze's customer service clearly needs improvement. While server Baj seemed friendly at first, she didn't accommodate our needs well - we had to call her to get water refills and ketchup for our hashbrowns, and not even once did she ask if we needed anything else like that pancake syrup! As for our bill, she just silently placed it on our table, making us wonder what she just put, while she took orders from the customers beside us. When we were ready to pay, she just put the payment device in front of us, and she seemed to be more cheerful doing that than actually serving us well. I was thankful that she called the manager about the egg issue, and that the manager was able to resolve it well, but overall, the customer service is just disappointing. It's not easy to find a good Benny in Chapel Hill, so I still think it's a blessing to have Snooze, a nice brunch spot with quality breakfast and a vibrant ambiance. If you prefer alcohol with your brunch, Snooze's bartender can serve that to your table. The outdoor seating is also nice but there were no customers there despite the short line of waiting ones while we were seated there. I wouldn't say that we will never return here, but probably not anytime soon. We are willing to go farther to get a better breakfast/brunch experience with professional customer service. Bright, loud, open, and airy. Walking in you're greeted with a wall of sound from their 60s-70s sound track and the buzz of other patrons talking over it. They have a wide variety of foods, mostly centered on breakfasty things. I saw the Benedict menu and didn't look further. I chose the Avocado Benedict, which is and English muffin covered by a slice of tomato (slightly grilled), avocado, a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Notice anything missing? Yeah, shoulda added bacon, but it was zero-yawn thirty to me (11am on a Tuesday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and I didn't notice. I did notice that there was very little salt used in the food. I'm happy that this will help some folks who have to limit their intake of sodium. I'm also happy there was a salt and pepper grinder on the bar. We arrived and added our party to waitlist. (Didn't know I could do it on their app.) We waited about 10 minutes at the most. Not bad at all. They offer indoor & outdoor seating. They have corn hole to play outside. The outside area has fans, but right now with temps being 95-102 degrees, we chose inside. They have a bar with a TV. Plenty of seating. We ordered different entrees so we could sample each other's food. The OMG French Toast was so delicious. We also had a pancake flight with a strawberry shortcake pancake, pineapple upside down pancake, and a cinnamon roll pancake. Oh my goodness, the pineapple won my vote!!! Perfectly made crispy edges on all of them. We had a yogurt bowl. It was meh. Not my thing, maybe with honey or vanilla yogurt. Won't order again. And we also ordered the Spuds Deluxe (Hash browns). If you're coming in on the weekend I suggest adding your name to the list before leaving home because they are definitely busy. The good thing is that there are lots of businesses in the area you can venture in to. The food was amazing. My friend is vegan and felt like she had lots of great options but they do have some dishes marked as vegan that include eggs which aren't vegan but she was able to ask for it to be made without eggs. The variety and brunch drinks was exciting. We couldn't resist the pancakes so shared the pineapple upside down pancake which was delicious and sweet but not too overwhelming with sweetness. We were there on a bad service day. The restaurant was short 5 servers and had no bartender on a holiday- Memorial Day. I get it. It's hard to provide good service under those conditions. Had this been made known when we first sat down, the hour wait to get our drinks would have been easier to handle. However, my biggest complaint is about the Not Your Mom's Cobb Salad. Having waited 1.5 hours to get our food, I was extremely disappointed to see that it was so small. At best, was a small side salad. At $14.00 and listed with the other regular size meals, I thought it would have actually been a lunch portion. The pork belly in it was simply small diced and seared. Think pancetta. There was maybe 2 tablespoons in the whole salad. Again- very disappointed. I left hungry and felt ripped off, not to mention I won't get those 2 hour back. The manager reduced the price of the meal, which was nice to accommodate the lack of servers. However, I will NOT be back to use the free pancake coupon. I cannot abide a restaurant that screws up a simple salad. read more

I'm going to start this review by saying that Emma, our waitress, was the biggest highlight of this place. It was our first time here and she is a gem. She took her time to explain the menu, talked briefly about the restaurant and just overall made our experience that much better. I would definitely come back and ask to seat in her section. The restaurant is super cute, it's bright with booths and table seating. They also have an outside patio that's covered. We were seated right away. The menu has some amazing options and the price is great. They have a weekday $10 menu. I took a picture and will post to this review. Emma explained that you can go in for breakfast all day anytime. They also have a bar! We ordered the half bravocado toast and opted for scrambled eggs with it. It comes with a side salad, which was delish. We also ordered the Denver omelette and a side of grits. The food was fresh, came hot to the table and it was tasty. I got a latte. I was told I have to try their pancakes and will do that next time. I never got chocolate milk because it had to be made, and then the person making it was talking forever according to the server. So many good looking options! I opted for the sweet potato veggie smash up which was delicious- savory and satisfying and set me up for a great rest of my morning. There was a bar by the entrance that served an impressive drinks menu for a breakfast restaurant. We ordered the ham benedict III, bravocado toast, three egg omelette (with mushroom, asparagus, and avocado) with wheat toast, and the smashed avocado benny. The hashbrowns were uniquely created on many of our plates in a circular, short cylinder shape. I was very happy with how my bravocado toast turned out, however at first glance, my mom's omelette included very measly slices of avocado which was disappointing. This is the second Snooze location that I've been to. I have to say that my second visit did not disappoint. The Chapel Hill location is full of character. The decor is warm and inviting. The seating options here include a bar, tables and booths. I was especially excited to see that the bar area included a tv, which just happened to be showing Wrestlemania highlights (see pics). Seeing Dwayne Johnson before breakfast is a good way to start the day. Our waitress was busy, but was attentive to our table. I ordered the Ham Benedict III. Long time fan of Snooze- primarily in Arizona and Colorado. After waiting for the reopening of Snooze in Chapel Hill, we finally returned. Sadly, the service was so lacking. We waited about 15 minutes for water and a waitress. The wait for our food was about the same. The smoked cheddar sauce lacked its typical great flavor. We arrived in Austin early morning from a 2.5 hour flight and needed breakfast. We visit Snooze in our local NC area. I enjoy my normal 2 egg special with hash browns and bacon. Eggs were prepared just as I like them. Bacon nice and crispy and the hash brown were well seasoned. This was my first time trying their buttermilk pancakes.
