I simply cannot recommend this place. I went after seeing live music next door, so it was after midnight. The only way that I can see being justified eating here is if you're not sober enough to distinguish quality food. When I came in, I wasn't greeted. The person at the bar seemed a bit apathetic quite frankly. It was also uncomfortably cold inside. I ordered fries, carnitas tacos, and a Shirley temple. My Shirley temple didn't have any cherries in it, the fries were overly garlicky, and the tacos were extremely bland. I have to believe the meat on the tacos hadn't been seasoned at all. I love this place! Super nice staff, delicious food and the bartender accommodated my request for a French Martini by creating a similar drink using their house made blackberry syrup. Yum! Their menu is very creative and a major step up from any bar food I've ever had. I ordered the tofu bites which were okay but i think a firmer tofu with a crispy coating would have made it better. The chicken satay sliders were good though I'm not a fan of the Hawaiian sweet buns which skewed the taste too much to the sweet side and the buns were soggy. I'd eat the chicken by itself though. It wasn't a huge win for me but I wouldn't rule it out for something out of the ordinary. read more

Okay I was overall pretty impressed with this place, especially the food--not your classic bar food. Ambiance - a slightly divey yet classy bar if that works? We came during unc championship game day so was a little hard to characterize. Patio outside. Overall pretty casual. Service - excellent. Even during crazy game day they were pleasant and helpful. Drinks- just had beer here but they have all the liquors for cocktails as well. Food- really quite impressive and reasonably priced. I wanted to try everything but was most impressed by the tofu (begrudgingly i listed a veggie food!). The chicken sliders were also tasty. Plantains pretty good but not my favorite. I've loved Northside District since it opened (and even before - when it was still Industry). Their beer selection is usually great and the decor is really nice. The environment can vary, sometimes they show games, have trivia, or live bands - it really just depends on what day it is. The food is good. You order at the bar and seat yourself. I thought some of the dishes were a little pricey for the quality, but the biscuit and chorizo gravy and the fried tofu are favorites. The fries are huge as well. I didn't think the sliders or tacos were very good, but service is always fast and friendly. read more

This is a great little bar with a cool vibe, games, couches, space for live music and really good reasonably priced food. They have a great variety of influences on there menu so everyone can find something good. At our table alone we had fried chicken on a biscuit with chiorzo gravy, Mac and Cheese, an Asian inspired (Wu Tang) slider, Meatball slider, a burrito and Tacos. The management here really shines through, they've made great selections with the staff and made this restaurant seem very welcoming. The chef is surprisingly talented, I was very pleased with my food. The bartenders know it all, try to test them. The space is small and intimate but spacious enough to accommodate a group of friends, the foosball in the front area beckons. The house cocktails are inexpensive and reliable standards with a twist, draught selection short but satisfactory. The bar tender is quick and friendly, so a drink and a small plate at the bar is a good option solo or together. The small plates on that note: good not great. I split the Maduros: plantains caramelized and a dash of hot sauce; crispy hot, spicy sweet pork belly on potato buns (I love the potato buns); a fried chicken plate with chorizo gravy. The former two dishes were superb and the latter tasty if texturally questionable. I'm forward you returning on a night I want a quiet drink and and eclectic bites. read more

the northside district is a really fantastic place to go for simple cocktails, beer and wine and a relaxing kinda offbeat atmosphere. in chapel hill there are definitely quite a few vars that are dominated by students and can have a very chaotic vibe to them. northside is the opposite of this. off the beaten track for college students, its a great place to sit unwind at the end of the workday with friends--they have an outdoor patio area that's smoking friendly with quite a few pick nick tables. if you are looking for high end, advanced/complex cocktails though, northside may not be the place for you. read more

A great neighborhood bar, raising the "standard" from previous incarnations in this space (inside joke for the locals). The wonderful outdoor patio and front room ambiance have been nicely maintained, and a reasonable draft and cocktail list added. Most notable are the plantains and a few other dishes. They have a decent rotation of dishes, and always a few vegetarian options on hand. Their late-night kitchen is probably one of the best options in Chapel Hill after the usual restaurants close down, and while the inside can get quite loud, the patio is always a good refuge to talk even late at night. read more

Neat little venue with great vibes. First time going for food. Tried the wings and tacos. The wings texture was perfect! Crispy outside with juicy inside. I had the spicy Chinese honey mustard, was overwhelmed by the honey, lacked the heat I desired. The tacos were not great. The chicken in the tacos was dry, they could really benefit by adding a sauce of some sort. Very good price points on the food and cocktails. I would suggest a different flavored wing. There are multiple other menu options I would like to try before ordering the tacos again. read more

Best of all they serve a full menu til 2am (not that I'm ever out that late but I certainly have been) Get a pitcher of any draft beer and get a basket of fresh cut fries for free! That's a great start for sure. The menu is not extensive but every item from tacos to wings are always top notch. I always leave asking myself why is this place not packed!? The parking is a wacky situation but it's chapel hill. I'd advise to walk or park on the street Last night a couple friends and I went and they decided they wanted to go to another local spot for the main course. I was bummed because I wanted to eat my way thru the most recent menu. I think I'll go by myself next time and sit at the bar and do that! Nice alternative to typical Franklin Street bars, perfectly located between Carrboro and Chapel Hill. The decor and overall atmosphere is eclectic and fun. Staff is always very friendly and the crowd is always diverse. The food menu is amazing and is available until 2am every night. That's right, you no longer have to settle for food you probably wouldn't eat sober after a night on the town. It's a little loud on karaoke nights but the space is large enough that you can avoid the headache by sitting on the patio or playing games in the front room. They truly have something for everyone! read more

I went to this new restaurant and bar last night with a couple of friends to check it out. The ambiance was perfect, the food was amazing (I was in the market for a light late-night meal so I got the Adobo Tacos and Mojito Plantains, which, were both AWESOME!) and I have to say- the choice of music was superb.
