This place is always solid. I live so close and we come here so often that sometimes I don't remember how nice it is to have a good restaurant next to home. I've never had anything bad here. All of the salads are huge and delicious. All of the fried fish is amazing. The FRIED MUSHROOMS are like molten lava but amazingly delectable. The only thing I've ever had here that I didn't find amazing was a cheeseburger and that may be because we had it to go. The bar is great and sells decent priced cocktails. $10 martinis woo! Been going there for years, never had anything bad. Had meatloaf special today and it was TERRIBLE. All loaf and not much meat, a dried out mess, didn't even look like meat, a little gooey gravy didn't help. Green beans just so so. Worst of all, when I told a manager I thought it was bad her reply was "Sorry you didn't enjoy it." I'll likely go back, as friends go regularly, but I won't try to suffer through anything bad again. This is a lovely place to come. It's casual, but the food is very good. I don't think you can go wrong ring with what you order. Everything I've tasted so far has been very good! The service is friendly and fast. They bring out drinks and refills quickly. The place is like a seafood restaurant for lost in the piedmont. Lots of random seafood things hanging on the walls or from the ceiling. I only have minor critiques about the food. This is really me nitpicking, but I do notice it. I make better grits than they do. Their grits tend to be under seasoned, but the grits absorb other flavors which helps. The pasta is overcooked and a little on the mushy side. Everything else law is spot on though!! read more

I really like BPG for lunch. I don't get out there as often as I'd like but I always enjoy it when I do. And I almost always get the same thing when I'm there - The crab cake sandwich. It comes with Cajun mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion, and it is absolutely delicious. They also have the best French fries I've had anywhere. Add a sweet tea and that describes my lunch the last 5 or 6 times I've been there. I enjoy the ambiance, which is comfortable and casual, and the service has always been exceptional. I am so surprised I haven't added a review yet since we frequent Bennett Pointe Grill. It is a local favorite, and they have a room that can be reserved for dinner parties. We have had many family events in that room. The food is always good and the drinks are reasonably priced. My favorite burger is the one with the pimento cheese, which is also great. I haven't had anything bad there. My favorite dish is the shrimp and grits. It's one of the few places they take the tails off the shrimp! The flavor is so good a d this salt a holic doesn't have to add salt. The deserts are made for them special by a local lady and they make amazing Key Lime pie in-house. This is a great, cozy hole in the wall. The inside is seafood themed and could be dressed up or down. The staff was extremely nice and carried on friendly conversation with our table like they genuinely enjoyed talking with us. It was so nice! I ordered a burger and pasta salad and all was amazing! "Durham neighborhood restaurant, lots of seafood" Nestled in a strip mall by Food Lion and Dollar General sits this place, this place has been there since 1997 as a family restaurant. The menu has salad, pasta, sandwiches, chicken, beef, and especially seafood. I ordered takeout from here via ChowNow. I got the "low country fried flounder" with fries and a side salad, and my wife got the pasta san remo. There was an option for curbside pickup, so I used that. This is one of the places in town where curbside pickup actually seems to work. (Gotta laugh at the places on Ninth Street that claim this...) You place the order, get a time estimate, and when you pull up, call the number, and they actually come out to the curbside right away and give it to you. Two thumbs up! Everything was packed very nicely-- salad was in a separate box with the dressing on the side, a tartar sauce cup with a good quantity, and even some rolls & butter for us. Though that did mean a lot of styrofoam. The food was good. The flounder came with a LOT of flounder, which was excellent. I felt not-great after eating it just because of the sheer quantity of "fried" oiliness (it was a little greasy, but that's expected from a batter-fried flat fish)... this may be a good dish to split with someone. Salad was fine-- decent mix of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc., and not 90% lettuce like some places pull. My wife liked her pasta san remo, but note menu says "in a light cream sauce"... she said it wasn't "light" but a lot of cream sauce (which was fine with her). Basically, I'd say expect anything here to be a little "rich"... Price was fair. It's no cheap Cracker Barrel meal, but it's not unreasonably priced. Pasta dish was $12.50 (before tax and tip) and fried flounder meal was $17.95. Overall, it was good-- I'd say 3.75 stars, so I'll round up. read more

Came here because it was close to our Dr appointment and we were headed home. So glad we stopped! Service was immediate, my dad uses a walker and they chose an ample table close to the front with a parking spot for the walker. I was cold so they brewed a fresh pot of decaf coffee and brought hot rolls and butter. They use real silverware and cloth napkins here. We were very impressed that the food was seasoned without being salty ( low salt diet) and the sautéed shrimp and scallops were so tender. Shrimp had tails already removed and breading isn't heavy or greasy which my parents appreciated very much. They are also very picky about their coleslaw and thoroughly enjoyed it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little gem! They also have burgers and other items which we will definitely have to try. Also dad loves a good Key Lime Pie which is house made they give you a generous slice and omg was definitely very good. read more

Dined here last night and at 5:30 there was a 30 minute wait. Didn't expect that but we had no where else to be so we waited. Have dined here from time to time over the years and its simple restaurant food at a fair price. My husband had the fried oysters- it was a smaller size order than we remembered it being but considering what we have paid for oysters recently it was a good deal. Nice size oysters, not too big and not tiny ones either. A medium light batter. Says comes with fries and Cole slaw but can substitute other items at no extra cost. Ordered mashed potatoes and a side salad. I had shrimp and grits with thin slices of what looked like kielbasa. Has good flavor and worth what we paid. Came with a side salad. We had key lime pie for dessert, Could have been a little tangier But home made and it was descent. Atmosphere in the main dining room is a bit crowded, it's one of the things that keeps me from coming back, I sorta feel like cattle being herded into a room. They have a bar area with tables but you can only sit at the bar if seats are available the tables are used doe regular seating. I prefer to sit at the tables in the bar area. This area seems to be filled with regulars. If your looking for decent food at a reasonable price give this place a try. read more

I went there a week ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Four in my group arrived at a peak lunch time. There were no tables available yet they managed to find one for us after a very short wait. We came for the fried oysters. Our waitress was very accommodating. She pointed out the menus had not yet been revised to include a lunch basket at a better price which included fries (Ok), slaw (excellent), and a home made combo of tartar sauce and red sauce which was really good and fresh. The appetizer amount of fried oysters at dinner were the same portion as the lunch offering. I looked about to see what other people were ordering and I almost changed my order a few times because of the really great variety of foods. Next time (and there will another time soon) I may get the huge bowl of chili. We were each given a fresh warm roll with ( real ) butter which helped us wait for our orders. Got there early on a recent Saturday for dinner. Seated quickly and had great, attentive service. We had honey glazed salmon with bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, plus a spinach salad with grilled chicken. Not too noisy despite a good crowd. We really enjoyed our meal at Bennett Point Grill today. I had the oysters, and I asked for the side salad and steamed vegetables instead of the fries and slaw for my two sides. The oysters were crispy and tender, just the way I like them, and the tarter and cocktail sauces were excellent. My husband ordered the special: Grilled Wahoo topped with blackened shrimp, served with a crabmeat sauce. His entree was tasty and perfectly cooked. I'm subtracting one point because our waitperson did not ask him what sides he wanted with the special (2 were supposed to come with the dinner). Because he didn't realize that he was supposed to get two sides with his dinner, he ordered 2 appetizers (soup and Caesar salad) for a total of $14. He told me after we left that he would have ordered the side salad and mashed potato sides instead of the appetizers if he'd known that sides were supposed to come with his entree. I suggest that the wait person should ask people which sides they want instead of assuming that they want no sides if they don't speak up. read more

Pasta Carbonara - Penne pasta tossed in a cream sauce flavored with smoked bacon, green onions and garlic for $6.95. Creamy yet light, and not too cheesy. It's not the best Pasta Carbonara I've had (it could use more flavor) but it's decent. Would be great if it included a little more pasta, but for the price, it's good. Meals include complimentary sourdough bread and butter. This place is located in an area that seems quiet and empty. There are helpful signs along the road to point you in the right direction though. Large parking lot. Right next to a Food Lion supermarket. They have wooded booth seating and friendly staff. Menu is in the form of a newspaper. I always liked this place but their servings have shrunk considerably, their shrimp and grits is now child-size, not worth the 13.50 and their veggie wraps are tiny, not worth the 11.50, next time I'll go to Jersey Mike's instead. I've been coming here for years, and I've never had a bad meal. The food is spectacular! I recently tried their black jack chicken sandwich and it was quite tasty. The service is always pretty good. When we went most recently there was a large party in the other room, but our waitress was still very friendly and worked very hard. The atmosphere is fairly intimate and very nice. read more

Only reason I gave them 1 star is because I couldn't give them less. Three times I've placed takeout orders with them, and three times they've messed it up. It's the worst run place with terrible service. This last time, I was told my order would be ready in 15 minutes. But 45 minutes later, after asking for an update 2 times, they finally brought my order prepared wrong. DO NOT go here! There was no apology or refund, only the blank stare of a mindless hostess. Four and five star places are everywhere, and we're fortunate for that, but Bennett Point probably doesn't show up on many foodies' lists of places to go.
