We've been to this place multiple times and always had a great time - tasty fresh food and friendly staff + generous portion sizes. Today I had baked tilapia stuffed with crab + mashed potatoes and broccoli with the crab sauce and it was probably my favorite meal out of everything I've tried there before (their steak, surf&turf and fries are also always amazing). I also got a half slice of strawberry shortcake to go and can't wait to enjoy it later - it looked fresh and delicious:) I've had their chocolate cake before and both times it was excellent. Their drinks also consistently deliver - we've tried both their cocktails and wine. Their wines are always reasonably priced and I've enjoyed them more than in some "fancier" spots in Durham. That strawberry shortcake is something else. 100/10. It's so fluffy and light and creamy. Amazing. However, the actual food... not the best. We got a lobster roll with fries. Not that great and the fries were more fried than potato. Maybe 2/5. I got a greek salad with chicken and it was oddly sweet? Like really sweet and the feta is a strange texture (i love feta this one tastes different almost like the vegan cheeses). Also, $24 for a greek salad with chicken...? Little too much. Chicken was good but not a great salad. Service was super quick, in and out in less than an hour and we take our time eating. Good local restaurant with the best cake! We had dinner on Saturday night which is also cake night, but we were all so full we didn't end up getting any. Over the years they've changed cake night to just be half off (used to be free) if your entree is over a certain amount. I had the chicken kabob that comes with mixed veggies and her rice. Portions are good, and waitress was attentive and kind. Hostess rubbed me the wrong way with attitude and then not following instructions (created a 10-top instead of 8-top as requested). Later, the same hostess was reading a book at the front. We went on a Sunday night partially because of the free kids meals. Unfortunately, that only applies with an $18 entree, and almost all of the burgers/sandwiches are below that threshold. There are only 2 total vegetarian options on the entire menu, and the portabello mushroom sandwich (less than $18) looked better than the Penne Primavera, so we had to forego a free kid's meal. Our party was 4 adults and 4 kids, so they charged us automatic 20% gratuity. I'm not a fan of automatic gratuity for a specific party size. They offered to-go boxes, but they were made of styrofoam, and I would have preferred compostable or recycled paper boxes. read more

Fridays are extra good and tasty I order the 2 lobster tail chef special. Nantucket Grill has a pretty good cocktail menu and beer menu. My buddy finished everything on his plate - and it was a big plate. My salad was similarly large. I really enjoyed the dressing and the marinated chicken. We ate inside this time because it was so hot but the outdoor seating looked very inviting. Maybe next time we'll sit outside. Steak Burger: Grilled pieces of marinated steak, mushrooms, onions and melted pepper jack on ciabatta. Didn't work for me. Meat was a little too chewy and the bun tasted a little stale. The only thing I've ever ordered that I didn't like. Blackened Salmon Salad: a solid choice with a large salad and a generous amount of salmon. No skimping on the ingredients. BBQ Chicken Sandwich: eh. It's fine. Not great but not bad. Grilled Salmon: comes with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Default version is grilled but they will give a blackened version if you ask. Always been nicely cooked, not overdone and not too rare. There's a full bar with a decent selection of draft beers. YELP! Today's visit to #NantucketGrill in Durham left much to be desired. I ordered the lobster bisque soup, hoping for a flavorful experience, but the soup was extremely bland-offering no seasoning. When I voiced my concern, the waiter informed me that it couldn't be removed from my bill. I felt dismissed. I hadn't mentioned anything about removing the soup from my bill. Instead, I was offered to speak with the manager. While I looked over the menu for other options, I was surprised by the small appetizer portion as well, but more surprisingly, the manager dismissed my concerns to reassure me that I was the first to complain after so many have raved about this soup.?. Had the manager not vocalized in such an animated way to dismiss my subtle concern, I may have considered dining longer to enjoy, perhaps a dessert. But when nearby tables began looking up and turning heads, I knew it was time to exist. At this establishment, the manager reiterated the restaurant's policy against refunds and pointed out that this policy is written at the bottom of their menus. In addition, when attempting to select other options (seafood), the manager shared that these items, too, may not suit my liking as they are seasoned with little to no seasonings as well. After some back and forth, the manager offered to charge me half for the soup and ultimately decided to remove it this time. After all that. Although I appreciate this lesson, I left feeling a tad embarrassed over the encounter and for using my voice to speak against something that just did not suit my taste. In total, I spent $18.07 (plus tip) for an appetizer (1/2 priced) and side salad, and left hungry. With over an hour's drive home, I stopped off to purchase more food (fries and an ice cream cone) to hold me until dinner. We never know what a person is going through. Good place to grab food, drink, and of course their famous CAKES! Most recently I visited with my mother for an early dinner. This location is situated in a shopping center with other businesses. There is parking all throughout the area. We were sat and greeted quickly. My mom ordered the full rack of ribs with a baked sweet potato and I ordered the Seafood Scallop Kabob. Both were very good! I'm not a big fan of ribs, but I did try one of my mom's and it was tender and flavorful. My scallops were delicious! They were cooked perfectly! It's hard to get scallops just right because they can easily burn or become rubbery, but these were so tender and well-cooked. They were also some of the biggest scallops I've seen. Although I did not get a slice of cake this visit, I have had their cakes and this is what Nantucket is known for...and for good reason. When you walk in the baked goods are on display and very tempting. You can also order speciality cakes as well. I recommend coming here if you're in the area. Came here for dinner the other night and it did not disappoint! Inside ambiance is very homey and buzzing. There is a huge dessert counter in the front of the restaurant, where you can see all their amazing cakes being displayed. We were seated quickly. Our waiter (Miguel) was very kind and constantly checked on us and made sure we had a great dining experience. I ordered the blackened salmon salad. It came with a perfectly cooked filet of blackened salmon on a big bed of greens with a delicious raspberry vinaigrette. I love the little bits and pieces of nuts and cranberries in the salad. The dressing paired with the greens very well, although it was a little too much dressing. Another thing I noticed was that the cheese used in the salad was not feta as described on the menu, which was a little disappointing. My friend, and I also ordered the crab dip that came with pita wedges. The dip came out, hot and bubbly, and it was absolutely delicious, appropriately cheesy with chunks of crab in it.. For dessert we ended up ordering a strawberry cream shortcake. The cake was absolutely delicious, not too sweet, the berries were super fresh, and the cream was light and airy and cake portion was nice and spongy without being too dense. The last two times my wife and I went they got her steak wrong. Specifically told the waiter this time it was rare last time and it's to be medium well. Again she got medium rare with blood running out as soon as she cut it. It ruined her appetite and we left without her eating. I went for prime rib, which is advertised as all day Sundays and they didn't have any. Staff was friendly and the place is clean yet the experience soured us on Nantucket Grill. We will not be returning and we were going twice a week at least before this. Disappointed that the last two experiences ruined a place we enjoyed eating at before. I was an instant fan just by the name alone, since I'm a native of New England. I was visiting the area for work and this place was within a few miles of my hotel. It was a Sunday evening around 7pm when I visited. Great location, although it was a bit of a puzzle working through the parking lot from the main road. I was seated right away, which was probably best since the dessert case was staring at me the whole time and if I had waited a minute longer I likely would've started off by ordering dessert first. :-) I ordered a ceasar salad to start with, and then the grilled kabob (2 meat - beef and chicken) with a substitute of the risotto instead of the rice. The kabobs were grilled to perfection. Really good flavor. I'm not sure I was a huge fan of the homemade teriyaki sauce as for me it was a bit too overpowering. The grilled vegetables and the risotto were really good. Kudos to the cooks! I filled myself up on the salad and entre but I couldn't help but to order a dessert to go. I went with the "half" slice of carrot cake since I still had a pretty clear memory of how ginormous the cakes looked in the dessert case. It took me all of about 5 minutes after returning to my hotel room to devour, and I mean devour, that carrot cake. It was quite possibly the best one that I've had. I'm sad that I won't just be able to order takeout from my home state of Florida. If ever I'm back in the Durham area, this will be top of list to return.
