Edit:I live in Kenmore and originally worked with the Kenmore store…read more This is related to a follow up visit after our trial gallon to buy five gallons of paint. Due to reduced hours for COVID-19, the store closed early (2PM on Sunday). I knew this and called to get my paint for curbside pickup...about 30 minutes before closing, and the Kenmore store was out of stock. Damn that's too bad - we really wanted to get this painting wrapped up during our weekend. No big deal! We can get this at another store - it's just 25 minutes away at the University Village location. I was on a time crunch, but I could make it if I hurried. And so the Kenmore store was AWESOME and called for me while I rushed out the door. I called the U Village store as soon as I was in the car. The associate there confirmed the order over the phone and I said I was hurrying, but GPS was putting me there at 2:01PM...one minute after closing. The associate CONFIRMED he would be able to wait until I got there and did not ask for anything else. I rushed. I got lucky with a couple of stop lights and I arrived...looked down at my phone - it's 1:59 - sweet! I made it. I called the store...twice...for curbside pickup (remember I cannot go inside, which is fine). Finally, at 2:01, the associate pokes his head out the door... "Are you picking something up?" "Yes I am - the Kenmore store called." "Oh sorry - we're closed. We just shut the system down and can't process any more transactions" "Wait. What? I called you and you confirmed." "Yeah - but our system won't allow you to pay" And this continues for about 2 minutes as I'm sure my face is turning BEET RED because I just wasted approximately an hour of my Sunday because the Sherwin Williams associate effectively LIED to me over the phone. Honestly, I was fuming at the time because I just felt...disrespected. But even now after calming down, I'm really disappointed at the customer service, and realistically, I'm going to be shopping other paint since

I have already wasted $600 on suede paint color matched in BM…read more'Classic burgandy' that was a COMPLETELY different color than the classic burgandy trim paint I got directly from BM. It is PINK, NOT red!! Turns out they have 2 different shades of the same color in their deck and didnt tell me. I expected it to be a deep red like the color I see online. I paid extra to 2day ship a sample of my trim paint to color match like the manager asked me to do so I can get the right color sent to me and they sent me a bill for the new color matched paint! This is mind blowing to me! Take some responsibility. I should not be the one who has to pay for even more paint, this is not my fault!! This has been the WORST experience. They obviously dont care about their customers at all. I won't be buying more paint and I guess Ill just be out $600...not like afford to be but I refuse to be the one who is paying for THEIR mistake!

The Endura Flat leaves marks anytime someone slightly grazes the wall; the scuffs and even fingerprints are visible after only being installed for a couple of days. Their website says about Endurance Flat- " it has a subtle texture that absorbs light making it perfect for use in high-traffic, sheen-averse spaces." Their customer service told me we had issues because we didn't use the correct application method, but the paint came with no instructions and in fact, on their website it says "Can be rolled, brushed or sprayed". No other instructions, and yet I was told I must have applied it wrong. When placing the order with my local sales rep, I mentioned that the client has two active young kids and was told that this finish would be perfect for the project. After 1 day, my client called with complaints about scuffs and marks and said that trying to wipe them off created an even worse problem. Not only did I disappoint a client after assuring them that the higher price tag for this high-end finish was justifiable, I had to buy all new paint and pay our painter to come back and apply a the new paint to the whole job. I was looking forward to a long-term relationship with this company to offer my clients a unique luxury product. Instead of offering a refund or even a discount, The Paint Laboratory told me that they are not responsible for their sales rep's recommendation and that I will not get a refund because they've never received complaints before...So here it is, a "first" complaint so the next person this happens to can't be told the same thing.

When I was struggling to mount a shelf, I got advice from one of the employees who was super friendly and explained to me exactly how to screw in the L brackets I was struggling with. He walked me over to the aisle and showed me exactly which screws would and wouldn't work for my project and explained to me how the screws would interact with different wall materials. Most recently I dropped by just before they closed to pick up drywall paste and a pallette knife. Despite me walking in ten minutes before they were supposed to shut, they didn't make me feel rushed at all and helped me find what I was looking for. I always prefer supporting a local business and I love having a neighbourhood hardware supply store I can count on with employees who feel kinda like family.

He then spent the whole time trying to talk down to me and being anything but helpful. He was so focused on intentionally talking to me in a little pet voice and pointing out that I had "misspoken" on a technical issue instead of just making an effort to help me get the product I need. The funny thing is I called him out on the fact that he was giving me false information. For example, he claimed that the "poly" in polyurethane means "clear" (it is actually short for "polymer") and that I had therefore misspoken by asking for a polyurethane enamel in a certain color. I pointed out to him that there are plenty of polyurethane paints on the market that have colors. He was like "yeah I just mean in Sherwin land." This is also false, look on the Sherwin Williams website for Polane T, a black polyurethane paint! This guy is a complete moron. He should be fired. Like all misogynists, they are idiots who don't know what they are talking about. Frustrated, I said I just wanted them to put the color tint of the numbers and letters I gave them in a polyurethane paint on the shelf and without knowing the details of what I was doing, said it would not work for what I was doing and that paint is only used by "little old ladies" in their houses. I told him to just do it anyway. He went and mixed the paint and the other guy rung me out, not quite such an in-your-face misogynist but totally unfriendly and clearly not on board with the fact that I would dare to call out his coworker. And lo and behold, the paint I bought actually ended up working perfectly.

Excellent customer service! Today was my third visit here in about 7 years, and it was such a good experience, I had to sit down and write these 5-star words as soon as I got home just now. The staff at Miller Paint in Ballard are all professional, pleasant, and patient. They're also completely prepped for Pandemic Painting; the store is immaculate and set up for distancing. Easy to read signage is displayed throughout. They had clean pens for me to sign the payment slip at check-out. I felt safe here. I came for two types of tinted paint and supplies for two different outdoor projects. The clerk had a real eye for color, and he was perfectly happy to spend time showing me lots of swatches so I could compare tints and tones for both. Sheen is also an important factor when buying paint. He took me over to a giant wall display so I could compare the difference between semi-gloss, eggshell, flat, and everything else in between. Yes, I rubbed my fingers all over the samples to compare. Nice touch! The clerk even looked up my last order from 2017 in the computer system so we could accurately compare colors. I didn't remember ever submitting my information, but I'm glad I did. Miller Paint is so high-tech! But he went 'above and beyond' by suggesting we tint the primer base so that the final coat would look better. He spread a sample on cardboard so I could see the color. Do you think the guys at Home Depot have the time for this level of individualized service? Dream on! I'm lucky that I live so close by Miller Paint in Ballard. But even if you aren't a neighbor, you should still make a special trip out here to get what you need. I know they have other locations, but the happy people at the Ballard store make all the difference. Celebrate with paint! Miller Paint.
