Had great expectation's for my dinner here. I had heard great things about this place and reviews and menu seemed positive. The service and ambiance were great. However, the entrees were disappointing. Although the fish was fresh and the food came out hot, the food had no taste. We ordered 2 seafood entrees and unfortunately they were bland. Absolutely no taste at all. It was definitely edible but disappointing. I really love the Turtle Shack and have been riding out to Flagler for about 8 years now just to order the "Skip Burger" and French Press Coffee. Every once in a while, I have a great ride but for the most part I get caught fighting the wind, rain or cold and today was no different. Regardless of weather, the ride to Flagler is a huge stress release that soothes my soul in unimaginable ways. I think it's because the East coast of Florida is one of the most beautiful places in the state. The sound of the waves, smell of the salty air and undeveloped natural land mass is remarkable. I stumbled across the Turtle Shack one day when I decided to take A1A all the way up to St. Augustine. The restaurant is a mile or so North of the more well-known restaurants in the area. It is a very small place that you could easily pass however, you will notice its popular among the locals because it is always packed. There is limited seating available so I wouldn't recommend coming with large groups. Most of the time, I grab a seat at the bar, watch the big game and chill with the locals. Over the year's prices have increased slightly but so has everyone else's. For example, the 12oz Skip Burger used to be $12 now it is $14. Not the end of the world but dang burgers are getting expensive! Tonight, I ordered the 6oz Skip Burger with broccoli which came to $11. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, bacon and a fried egg with choice of side. I also ordered a pot of French Press Coffee which cost $5.50. I would say you get a good 20-22 ounces of coffee so there is plenty for the price you pay. My meal took a little longer to deliver than what I am used to (about 35 minutes). Since my last visit, I am noticing a lot of new faces so I am not sure if the kitchen staff has turned over as well. Additionally, my meal came out with fries instead of broccoli and my burger was missing the fried egg which I didn't realize until I started writing this review (dang it!). After notifying the staff I was missing my vegetable option they were quick to remedy the situation. As usual, all of the food was on point except for the missing egg. Maybe next time they will give me the hook up! The Burger was a perfectly cooked medium and very juicy. They do not press on their burgers so all the juices are there when you bite in! The burger toppings are fresh and crunchy. The Broccoli is cooked to order and dressed in salted butter, So Good! The server left the fries even though I didn't order them. The fries were a thick and crispy pre-seasoned style that were not homemade but were tasty. The entire meal came to $17.66 minus tip. I look forward to my next ride to the Turtle Shack and Skip Burger with double the egg! If you are ever in the area, give them a chance you won't regret it. read more

Super cute place! We came on a chilly Sunday at around 6 and surprisingly they weren't that busy! Husband got a snakebite with Original Sin cider (because it's a "choose your own adventure" drink. Aka you choose what cider you want with the Guinness)-Meh. I didn't think the flavors worked well together. Original sin was good on its own, just NOT with the Guinness. Recommend you using a different cider for that drink. We got the avocado egg rolls which were BOMB! Highly recommend those. Then we got their special chips and salsa which I think had mango and pineapple? Idk. Husband ordered it, wasn't impressed. Our chips were were edging on the burnt side. For entrees I got the Seared Sesame Ahi (which was literally the reason we came here-other peoples pictures looked so good!) and the Ahi tuna tacos (upgraded). My Seared Sesame Ahi tuna was easily the best I've ever had! I usually don't go for this at restaurants because SO many places really jack it up (overcook it), or the tuna is a poor quality. But wow-this was outstanding!! They really did just SEAR it-like what? 30 seconds? And you could taste the high quality fish. Truly the best I have ever had. It was such a bright beautiful red on the inside. And a choice of side was a jalapeño cilantro rice!? Um yes please!! Very happy with my food. The tuna was like a solid 5-6oz steak too! I was very full. I didn't try the Ahi Tacos but the husband said the blue cheese (that's part of the upgrade) MADE the tacos. He was very happy with them and even more impressed with the amount of tuna he got in them! The night we were there there was live music. It was an older gentleman playing the guitar. Unfortunately the Turtle Shack had a kitchen fire in Nov 2024. That site is permanently closed. We discovered that they plan to reopen in European Village in Palm Coast, but a local resident was not able to find a site. Hopefully that will happen in future. Went here Saturday around 3. They had a prime rib dinner special that I ordered. The waiter said they just took it out of the oven and it needed to rest for 20 minutes. So we ordered artichoke dip in the mean time. It was delicious with fresh hot chips. The dinner included the prime rib, mashed potatoes, broccoli, au jus and horseradish sauce. The whole dinner was spectacular. Would definitely recommend this place. They have a very upscale menu with great prices. read more

Someone mentioned this place to us as a must try. It was absolutely wonderful. They have about 15 tables and a small bar. Food and service were amazing. We got a couple of appetizers to share because they all looked so good! Homemade onion rings were perfect. Blue cheese chips and pirogies were to die for. Our dinners were on point. Maryland crab cakes were huge, the Asian Sesame crusted tuna with jalapeños cilantro rice and pineapple coleslaw. AMAZING and the best tuna I've ever had. The sides were just as amazing! This is my favorite beach place in all of Flagler and Volusia County. I found this little place in 2014 and its my favorite ever since. They have had some of the same servers for years, and they are all hard working. Anytime we are here, my wife gets the she crab soup as an app every time. loaded with crab and full of spice and flavor. The last visit the menu has slightly changed, and I got an amazing grouper and crab bisque. It was rich and creamy also full of flavor. I have tried almost everything on the menu, but the I go for I call the Best grouper sandwich I have ever had. They offer it Blackened, Sauteed or Fried. I have had them all and all are good, but go to is Sauteed. They have a nice tarter sauce, lettuce, tomato and good bun. For sides I always get sweet potato fries or onion rings. They also have several beers on tap and a nice beer and wine menu. They make a good key lime pie and one of the servers says the peanut butter pie is her favorite. We have been to the Turtle Shack many times and it is one of my favorite places. Yesterday we went there around 3:30 for a late lunch. We waited at the bar for about 15 minutes to get a table outside which we were fine with We sat there for over 15 minutes and were not even brought menus so my son went to and asked. When they brought them they said they thought we had been helped. We also experienced a long delay getting our food. The food at the Turtle Shack is off the charts. Every bite of every meal is made from the highest quality ingredients and literally melts in you mouth in an explosion of taste. The prices may be a few dollars more than you would pay elsewhere, but the food is top grade and the servings are huge! I always take enough home for a second meal or sometimes third. - To die for Mussels in Garlic (served with small loaf of dipping bread) - TS's New England Clam Chowder has previously been great, but the portion we received, this time, had an "Out of the Can" flavor and thin/watered down consistency. - My 12 oz Burger was very good, but my Wife wasnt at all happy with her 6 oz Burger. I might have given this visit 3 stars (based on my meal and neglecting the Clam Chowder), but we were unfortunately seated with a view of the kitchen door. Sadly, any Health Inspector, worth their salt, would have taken one look and closed the place. ServSave practices were non-existent, the Kitchen trash can was over-flowing, with garbage spilling over onto the prep-table. Not to mention, the Kitchen floor was covered with trash of all sorts. At least one Waitress switched from touching themselves, to money, to food, to adding fruit to drink glasses, and picking the glasses up by the lip, without any attempt of washing their hands. Had 5-6 wait staff, running around, with only 1 or 2 even close to really serving the customers. Very concerned!!! read more

Best ahi tuna I have ever had can be found here! This place is a little further away than the main center, which is honestly a godsend. It is busy because it is good, not because it is a tourist trap. My friend and I sat at the bar and shared the ahi tuna app. I was going to get it as my main, by the app is just as big and way cheaper. That crust on that tuna is amazing, and it melts in your mouth. We ordered a second one because we both wish we had more! I got the chicken tacos, but I had to ding them a star because I paid to get an upgrade and it was missing a few of the toppings that it was supposed to come with (namely the avocado). My friend got the super grouper, and between our two meals I liked mine better because of the sauce that came with the tacos.
