It was ok. We arrived around opening time, and it gets packed really fast. Luckily, you can sit on the bar area on a first come first serve basis. the coffee bar person was also our attending waiter and I hope he got paid extra because he was doing A LOT. It took almost 30-40 minutes to get our meals, and they were seriously the basics (eggs any way and the other was a waffle). The food was okay, nothing out of this world. It was also disheartening to see a lot of the items were pre-packaged. As we were in the bar, the vanilla chai my husband got was from a premade coffee thing that came from the vending machine thing, the orange juice being poured was Florida's brand (nothing wrong there), and the sweet cream for my cold brew was from a carton (not in-house). The only thing I saw was fresh was the coffee beans and the blended drinks since we saw the fruit being poured into the blender. I highly doubt I would come again. read more

Finally got to visit for breakfast and, wow, were there options! I was bouncing between the Breakfast Combo and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. And while the Benny won this round, I've gotta come back for that combo to try their pancakes. The inside is homey and absolutely beach dining vibes. For a second I thought I was eating somewhere by the shore. It really added to the "just sit back and enjoy" feeling even when the restaurant got seemingly busier. My experience at Turning Point was a bit of a rollercoaster. I got there at around 10:45am and they were able to accommodate my party of two relatively quickly. There were a dozen or so people waiting, but those were probably for bigger parties. As far as I know the restaurant does not take reservations. Their menu is substantial but not overwhelmingly large. We ordered the chicken & waffle, winter hash, and the big easy benedict. The food was brought out in less than 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the food was somewhat hit or miss with us. The chicken & waffle, a dish I had high hopes for, left me disappointed. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The big easy benedict and winter Hash were fine, but didn't blow me away. While they were satisfactory, I couldn't help but feel that they lacked that extra oomph to take them to the next level. Service-wise, it was good in the beginning, but after we got our food, our waitress rarely came to check on us. Been here this morning for a brunch with a long-time friend of mine. It was very early (7:45am Sat), but everything was well prepared and clean. My first impression was its modern appearance; a spacious white interior with various seating options -banquet seating, communal and dining table. Staff was very kind, professional, and the server for our table answered all of our questions about brunch menu and coffee selections very well. We ordered a jar of Jamaican coffee (French press), Omelette and French Toast. Coffee was good, but two main brunch orders... well I don't know. Breads were rather bland, not well-toasted, and blueberries were not so fresh. Strawberries and banana slices did not meet my expectations either. My friend did not make any comment on his order, so I could see what he thought. I usually order French Toast as my first selection at any places where brunch is served, for a fair comparison. Thinking about a few brunch options in Rutherford, Ridge Wood or other places in Paramus, I am not sure if I can recommend this place to my family and friends. We have passed this restaurant so many times and finally made our way in. I'm so sorry we never came before! This is such a fantastic spot!!! Where to begin.... we got there and it was rather crowded and the hostess told us ten minute wait unless we wanted to eat at the community table... community table.... that sounded fun. We said sure. So we mosied on over and picked two seats. They were comfy. The vibe was fantastic. Other people said hi, but like the NY/NJ thing, they know when to chat and when to stop and do your own thing. So it was a nice experience. I wasn't crazy hungry so I thought oh a bowl of chili. That would be nice. What a surprise that was. It was a huge bowl for $5.75 with nice tricolored tortilla chips that were fresh and crispy. It seriously hit the spot and what a bargain it was! The coffee is delicious and it came in the cutest big mug. I should have bought one and I will go back and get one. They have vegan options which is a big plus in this area. I happy to hear Turning Point had a location in Paramus! I had heard so much about its other locations but was excited to try it out. I caught up with some friends here on a Sunday afternoon, service was prompt and attentive. I ordered the Hueveos Rancheros which was pretty tasty and spicy! The eggs, potatoes and salsa were all delicious but was oddly served on a rather cold, uncooked tortilla which isn't typical of this dish - hope they improve upon that element. I ordered the pick two option, choosing chef created garden vegetable soup and a chicken pesto sandwich. The tiny cup of soup seemed to consist of frozen mixed vegetables and a broth of some type, absolutely devoid of any seasonings! The chef failed on this one!! No flavor, and so disappointing. It's been a while since I've been a regular somewhere or wanted to be but I'm starting to be at Turning Point Paramus! I've discovered this place a few weeks ago but have been coming every week since finding it, as long as I'm in the area. The food and service have been so great that I'm trying to get through the entire menu. My last visit, I decided to be somewhat healthy and get the Health Freak combo. The power grain pancake was so yummy and the mini cross-fit omelette tasted so fresh. I love the bright, airy feel of the restaurant as well. It makes it feel homey and inviting. My last visit felt even more inviting because I had the best service I've had in a while. Our server Ally was phenomenal! Super friendly, knowledgeable, considerate and always available. Such a great breakfast/brunch/lunch addition to the area! Turning Point Paramus has a great menu, bright, airy atmosphere, cordial and knowledgeable staff and French Press Kona coffee! C'mon now - what else do you need in life!? We started with the bacon lollipops- cool idea! Several stakes of bacon-wrapped apple slices with brown sugar, mounted to a half granny smith apple drizzled with caramel and sprinkled with more brown sugar. For my breakfast, I had the lobster Eggs Benedict and it came with a decent portion of lobster. All the ingredients were great though the english muffin was a bit hard to cut through. My wife and son had the cinnamon roll pancakes - wow! Sugar rush but awesome. We had a blueberry with lemon zest short stack of pancakes on the side to split amongst us - they were great and loaded with blueberries! So glad that we have this great new option in the area for breakfast. Only reason for not awarding 5 stars is the location. While parking is great, this restaurant would be so well better suited in a quaint center-of-town setting where you could enjoy a nice stroll around the neighborhood afterwards, window shopping. Definitely a new favorite of mine for breakfast/brunch. The place is huge and staff has been extremely friendly the two times I've been here. I can't speak for the service and food quality during their super busy times, but when I've been there in the morning as soon as they open, the service has been quick and the food has been deliciously consistent. I've always gone for the typical breakfast combo and that's more than enough for me! There are plenty of breakfast options and will definitely try others the next time I'm there. I was actually shocked that they provided me my own carafe of coffee and having the mug be what I believe is a 16oz mug made me that much happier. My husband has gotten their protein pancakes and the sizes do not disappoint! My 3 year old who hates eating (like all toddlers) love this thick cut bacon. I've been coming to this small plaza off of route 4 for years because Houlihans is a family favorite , but this time we decided to try something new. I had relatives in town for the weekend and we decided to try out the Turning Point which recently opened here. Turning Point is a national chain with several locations in the northeast and florida. I don't know when this particular location opened but it must not be too old because I never saw it before this visit. Their brunch menu looked really nice to me. Plenty of healthy options (with calories listed on the menu and a nutrition calculator online) and plenty of vegan friendly substitutions. They also have a menu with seasonal specials like lobster eggs Benedict, a spicy ranch quesadilla and a berry waffle. They also had a pick two menu similar to Panera where you can get a half salad, half sandwich and a bowl of soup. Everything was a really good value and most entrees were under 15 dollars! While were not able to make reservations in advance, you can add yourself to their online waitlist which has the live wait time for a table. It seems like there a rush on Saturdays mornings and then it slows down again before there is a second peak around noon. After we parked in the lot outside, we checked in with the hostess. There were about 4 families ahead of us so we had to wait for a table. It kind of seemed liked they forgot that we were waiting though. I had to remind the hostess since it seemed like they were letting in other parties ahead of us. Overall, I found the service to be friendly but very spotty. Once we were seated, they took brought water for the table. We asked for a second pitcher since they didn't bring enough initially for our party. We also had to ask for utensils. The food was a little bit slow to come but it was good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The group ordered one crossfit omelette, one chicken panini, one chicken salad wrap, a chicken ranch quesadilla and the cubano sandwich. Overall, I think you need to budget your time if you plan to come here since it can take a while to be seated and the service isn't very fast, but the food is a good value and the menu options are great, especially if you're looking for something healthy. read more

Came here on a Saturday a little before noon and was told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. We ended up waiting 15 minutes, which is not too bad for a weekend brunch I'd say! Personally, I would've preferred if the bread was toasted a bit more. I do like how it was presented on the wooden board. For my drink, I got a hot vanilla chai tea. At first, I was disappointed that my drink was not filled to the top. But the mug is just so huge, it was actually a lot of chai tea. I couldn't end up finishing it because of how much was in there. My family and I had a lovely breakfast here. We came in on a Friday morning and there was no wait. Turning Point is located in a plaza on Route 4 with plenty of parking available. I started with the Hibiscus Tea and it came with honey and a rock sugar stick. For food, I ordered the Avocado Toast with scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. The presentation of the food was nice, but the food was even better. The bacon was perfectly crisp and the sliced tomato and pepper were a nice addition to the avocado toast. I liked that the scrambled eggs weren't seasoned so I could do it myself. My sister ordered The G.O.A.T. Omelette. She said the eggs were unique in texture, but still really liked it. We had a milkshake with a shot of espresso in it, milks for the kid and the most DELICIOUS fluffy cake like pancakes. I tried an apple and cheese toast and it was good but had room for improvement. The toast crust was too thick and there could be a better cheese that is either meltier or softer that pairs well with apple and caramel, but those brown sugar coated pumpkin seeds made up for most of it! The caramelized onions were neutral for me but it put off my cousin. I think it makes sense because it helps balance the meal. Went here for brunch with friends. I started with the beet juice mix, and I was pleasantly surprised at how balanced the drink was. There was a right mix of ginger and other fruits, and the strong taste and aftertaste of the beets was well masked. For food, I ordered the lox benedict as I always do at brunch places. We went on a Sunday for brunch. The wait was about thirty minutes as estimated by the hostess. We ordered the Nashville Hot Honey Chicken Burrito, Big Easy Benedict, turkey chili and breakfast combo with a side of Mac and cheese. The hot honey chicken burrito was fair. The chicken was crispy and came out hot and not too spicy. My big easy benedict had two pieces of chorizo sausage and was mostly grilled onions. The poached egg had some egg shells in it which happens sometimes. The turkey chili was a good deal for the price but it was only okay for us. The side of Mac and Cheese came in a cup less than the size of your average teacup but the upside was that it was better than your average Mac and Cheese. The home fries were half cooked which was disappointing. Besides the chili, none of the dishes were generously portioned. The ambiance was nice, well decorated and clean. They seem to be employing a lot of the young locals which is admirable. Unfortunately there aren't many better options for brunch nearby so we may give them another try. read more

We ordered the breakfast combo and the Nashville hot honey chicken wrap. Breakfast combo is similar to other places but we added the lemon blueberry pancakes which were a joy to have. Tons of blueberries folded into the batter and still retaining the crispy edges and fluffy interior. Love that they use real maple syrup and whipped butter. The Nashville hot honey chicken wrap is a great savory option for people who are not into sweet breakfast. I got it with a side of greens which were super fresh. On par with pancake house in my option. Also if you are a coffee fiend, the unlimited coffee is a steal - great that they offer a cup to go! read more

What ever oil they used to deep fry the potatoes was rancid and lingered in my mouth for hours after. The cheese in the skillet was served to me already coagulated, scrambled eggs were hard to find in the mess. Their version of an "English muffin" was less than desirable- barely toasted and had the largest pool of "butter" on it. It tasted more like an extremely salty liquid margarine OR the butter you get on popcorn at the movie theater. It looked like it was squirted on. This is a hard pass. read more

You now get the gist of the Turning Point regional breakfast chain. Mass hypnosis? Cocaine in the pancake batter? Perhaps... but the food and the service are both terrific, offering a lesson to increasingly stingy and inflation ravaged restauranteurs, that if food, atmosphere and presentation are nonpareil, lines will form and wallets will empty. My Eggs Benedict were superb and the service was both clairvoyant and unobtrusive. And this is from someone who hates a line even when they're handing out bars of gold bullion at the end. Our visit to the Turning Point was nothing short of a disaster -- and trust me, it'll be our last. We had called ahead, yet still found ourselves waiting a frustrating 25 minutes for a table. That might have been forgivable, but what followed made it painfully clear that this place has no grasp of proper service. Once seated, we spent another agonizing 20 minutes waiting for coffee -- yes, coffee. As we sat there, we couldn't help but notice the disgusting spit stains and fingerprints smeared across our glasses. Our waiter seemed oblivious to our frustration, instead aggressively pushing us to order their so-called "popular" cinnamon rolls. With nothing else to do but wait, we gave in. The ad on the table promised big, fluffy pastries -- the kind that looked warm, soft, and inviting. Before the rolls even arrived, they brought us plates -- plates that looked like they'd been dragged through a kitchen floor. Yellowish grime and streaks of white residue coated each one. We were forced to abandon them entirely, resorting to balancing our food on our napkins like we were eating at a roadside picnic. And then -- finally -- the cinnamon rolls arrived. If we hadn't already endured so much, I might have laughed. What they brought out looked like cheap wooden toys someone had microwaved as a joke. Dry, shrunken, and barely half the size of what the picture had promised. It was an absolute insult -- a pathetic end to an already miserable experience. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. They also had very little flavor, and the frosting had tasted like melted fabric. When our main courses arrived, no one enjoyed their meals. The potatoes appeared to be from a bag and were cold and not cooked evenly, also they lacked good flavoring, also very hard and bitter. The pancakes were way too sweet and raw, and another person in my party received raw pancakes, we both noticed hints of un-mixed egg yolks and a few hairs. Also, the coffee had a watery taste and was not appetizing, and hadn't looked clean. Regarding the cleanliness of the restaurant, the plates, glasses, and utensils had hairs, fingerprints, and spit on them. It was extremely extremely hot in the restaurant, and crowded.
