Cold brew with big coffee cube

Went to Turning Point for breakfast on a Sunday. Surprisingly, it wasn't too busy at 10am and we were seated immediately. It's a fairly large casual restaurant, reminds me of a large eat-in kitchen at someone's home. I got the cold brew and my wife got a French press for coffee. Both were pretty good, i like the large serving sizes and the giant iced coffee cube that came with the cold brew. For my entree I got shakshuka and my wife got a breakfast platter with a belgian waffle. Shakshuka was decent, definitely have had better though. The breakfast platter was very average. We also got the cinnamon rolls with tableside frosting, which was basically just the waiter squirting a bottle of frosting on top of the cinnamon rolls lol Food was average, portions were good for the price, especially with the recent price hikes at local diners.

Lovely experience dinning in. Ordered Kale to the King and loved it. Very refreshing. Grabbed m two for one deal - cran/walnut sandwich, which was a little on the dry side sadly, and the Martha's Vineyard salad which was delicious! Staff was kind and helpful in navigating the menu. Really enjoyed the meal. Will be back again!

THE GOOD ---------------- + Solid brunch food. Not going to blow you away with any fab creations, but it hits the spot. ++++ Tropical Bliss Smoothie and Annie's Lemonade - Both were refreshing, a little bit more watered down than we would like, but still relatively refreshing. ++++ Grande Huevos Rancheros - Not amazing, but still good. Portion was right on with a mix of 3 eggs (over medium), potatoes, chipotle peppers, chorizo, black beans, onions, cheddar jack, salsa, slices of avocado and sour cream in a GIANT wheat tortilla. Everything was tasty. The avocado slices had some black spots on them though, which meant they were going bad. ++++ Shakshuka - Same as the Rancheros, not amazing, but still solid. Nice portion of food. The 3 poached eggs sat on top of a tomato sauce ... and, well, that was pretty much it. No potatoes or any other carbs inside. It was still tasty and, if you're looking for a healthier option, this would be one. ++++ Kids Volcano French Toast - There were 2-3 slices of French Toast topped with strawberries and whipped cream. The French Toast had a cinnamon flavor to them, which was rather pleasant. Definitely would be filling for a toddler. ++++ Kids Mac 'n Cheese with Potatoes - Mac 'n Cheese was tasty and the kids gobbled it up like it was the only Mac 'n Cheese left in the world, but could they have spared some more? The portion was very sad, to say the least. + Interior of the restaurant is large, with great spacing inside and lots of tables. + Pretty standard decor for a brunch restaurant - lots of natural light, contemporary design and, most importantly, clean inside. + They have a waitlist that you can join online on their website, but it was a relatively short wait (5 min) still on a winter Sunday at 11:45 AM. + Service was decent as the food came out very quick. + There is a private parking lot that is part of the Plaza 35 shopping area. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - As mentioned above, portion for the Kids Mac 'n Cheese could have been bigger. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = As mentioned above, food was solid, but nothing really stood out as spectacular. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = There were a steady stream of customers going in and out throughout our meal from 11:45 - 1 on an early Sunday afternoon, but no one had to wait long. = There is a longggggg bar/table in the middle of the front dining area by the entrance and it seems like a seating area for those who would rather not wait for a booth/table. Only downside is that you do have to sit near/across from strangers if you're not into that.

    - Big, open, and bright space with clean farmhouse vibes; multiple dining areas with roomy tables, booths, and communal counter seating - Very popular weekend brunch spot; already filling up when we arrived around noon on a Sunday - Easy to join the waitlist online (a must for busy days) - Nice touches while waiting: complimentary hot coffee and tea, plus free mini cups of Cheerios for kids; unfortunately, the coffee was very light and lacked bold flavor, so I passed on ordering more - Service was friendly and polite, though a bit more proactive attentiveness would have improved the experience - Food was fine but forgettable: Shakshuka (Winter Specials) had a tangy tomato sauce with some heat and not much depth, generous portion with three perfectly poached eggs, but no ciabatta as advertised--served with plain, untoasted sourdough instead; Grande Huevos Rancheros was served in a tortilla bowl that quickly turned soggy in the middle, flavors were decent, but the avocado was browning and unappetizing; Kid's Mac & Cheese with Potatoes came with a very small portion of pasta, though cooked well and was extra cheesy; Kid's Volcano French Toast with Strawberries was more generously portion, nicely cooked with a light cinnamon sweetness which helped since syrup never arrived; the blended drinks were heavy on ice and tasted watered down - Bottom line: comfortable, family-friendly space with good seating for groups, but manage expectations as the food doesn't quite live up to the hype

We were traveling from Nassau County, NY area to this specific location. It was truly a turning point in our breakfast decision because we also had lunch and it became a brunch before 11am lol omg the food was so scrumptious and fresh! Our server was Gracie, she was stellar with us the whole time. She really went above and beyond that we hand everything we needed during our brunch. Happy birthday to her as well! Definitely would recommend this restaurant for your breakfast and lunch , so good!

Always a great experience at Turning Point in Paramus. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. To drink, we had the Fallin for Chai and the French press coffee. Both were very good. I had the Cran Apple French Toast and my wife had the breakfast combo with Great Pumpkin pancakes. All of it was crazy delicious. We booked our table on the way, so we were seated immediately. The place has a chill atmosphere. Once again, they impressed us with everything.

Came for Brunch on Saturday morning at 10 am. Unfortunately, this place does not take reservations. The wait for regular table was around 30 min at that time. And with the little ones, we didn't want to wait. But there was no wait for the high tops! So we asked for booster seats and just sat at the high tops for breakfast. The place is like a super modern diner. It was nice that coffee was unlimited and you could also take to go too. I ordered the avocado smash Benedict and it was good. But I just thought the toast was really had to cut. Possibly stale? My baby had their waffles with fruit from their kids menu which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had a taste of their pancakes and immediately wished I had ordered that instead. Will definitely be getting that next time!

We decided to try TPOP Saturday late lunch, around 1:30pm. Even at this odd time, they were somewhat full, we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. In the process we learned that the bar tables are available for anyone including kids. Next time we will just sit there to skip waiting, if seats are available. Since its a new restaurant, it has wonderful appearance. Everything looks new and clean. The menu has a variety of breakfast drinks and dishes. They have a nice kids menu as well. I started with the lemonberry blue drink. It was a good sweet citrusy drink. For entree I ordered the Nashville hot chicken benny with green salad. I liked the look of the dish. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Chicken was delicious too. But the waffles got soggy, I hoped it was little crunchy. The green was okay. Overall I felt the portion wasn't big enough. The service was good, we had a friendly server. I got $5 discount for signing up with their rewards program. Despite these minor setbacks, I think this a wonderful place to have brunch with family and friends.

Casual restaurant serving mostly breakfast menu in Paramus. It's nice clean and spacious inside. Service is good. It's first come first service. We had to wait for 15 mins. I had chicken cranberry with wrap. I requested heat/hotpress the wrap and take out the mayo. It came out cold and mayo all thru ingredients. Didn't really like it. 3 stars is based on my food. We also had kids silver dollar pancakes and chicken/waffle. Those dishes look better. If I come back, I prob will pick something else.

The menu is extensive, something for everyone. The food portions were on the larger size. Everything was very good. Many different omelettes and pancakes to choose from. We tried the cinnamon roll pancakes, they were so good, no need for syrup, they were flavorful on their own. We were a party of 5, Everyone enjoyed there food. They have plenty of seating. The only down side is they do not take reservations, you can call ahead and put your name on a list which is what we did but still waited almost 30 minutes for a table. Hard to go out with a party of over 4 to a place that does not take reservations.

Decided to stop into this new spot near me to have breakfast. The selections are different and more elevated than your standard diner or breakfast spot. I started with a cup of their regular house coffee, which was pretty good. For breakfast, I went for the Chilaquiles which is not what I would normally order from a place like this however it was just what I wanted that day and it hit the spot. I wasn't expecting it to be a traditional Mexican dish, but it was done very well. The service was kind and attentive as I sat at the bar near the fireplace, taking in the wonderful cozy setting. Will return.

Once you enter through the store, there is a sign to wait to be seated. The place has a nice and bright rustic vibe to it. I really liked the decor and table setup. Even the napkins had a rustic vibe. Started off with the potato scoop ($16) which was my fave item. The potato was shaped like the Fritos scoop chip, and the cheese dip that came with it had chunks of cheese in a melted cheese sauce. For my main, got the pulled pork sandwich ($16), which came in a pretzel knot bun and creamy slaw. It was solid meal and very filling. Other mains ordered were the roast beef "pho" style sandwich ($16) which I had a bite of and it was good and not what I expected thinking roast beef. Roast turkey ($16) was warm and also tasty. Each of the mains came with a side of potato salad. I will be back to try the sloppy Joe and their dinner meals. So, this one was a real doozy of a visit. The drinks were fair, with our order being a Goose Island…read moreIPA, Long Island iced tea, and a pomegranate martini. The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

I suggest you head towards the houses, away from town, if you can't find a spot. I've been anxious to try this place as the pictures look solid enough and reviewers thus far seem content. My wife and I entered with plans to have beer and apps. We ended up getting Guinness, onion rings, fried calamari and the Cooper's Burger. You can't beat a 22oz Guinness for $8. The prices on their website also match what you'll see inside. Lately I find so many restaurants are charging more than they advertise online. Service was great, friendly and very attentive. I was also surprised to see how well they clean tables between customers. Spray, wipe table, wipe lamp, shakers, etc. It's totally clean for the next customer. There are only 8 or so tables in here, plus bar seating. We enjoyed some comfy seats at a high top table for two. The onion rings were great - crisp and battered nicely so they hold together. While almost a little overcooked, they were still good and better than I had at the last high end steakhouse I went to. The fried calamari was fairly priced and a good portion. It had a light crispness, though bigger pieces would've been nicer. They were mostly small, but certainly a lot of it. The accompanying marinara was good and plentiful. We got the Cooper's Burger cooked medium and it came out medium. It's a simple burger that comes with lettuce and tomato. Some red onion wouldn't been nice. They charge extra for all sorts of stuff you can get on top - fried mushrooms, fried onions, eggs, etc. It also comes with fries, which were good. Overall, it was a nice cozy time. Several middle aged couples ate here that night and a couple small groups. No loud bar crowds as they're all on central avenue. In fact, I was surprised how nice the acoustics were inside. You can hear people at your table no problem, can hear the music inside at the right level and don't hear a lot of background chatter or noise. I'd most certainly return if in the mood for pub food. And ... No credit card fee!

We ordered two fish dishes (salmon and swordfish) and they were both delicious. The only thing I didn't really like was the rolls were ice cold and so was the butter. Wasn't something I was excited to eat on a cold Thanksgiving evening. The table next to mine was reserved for people who were dining alone and I noticed the waiters and owners made a point to chat with them and make sure they were okay. I look forward to coming here again one day.

Got a cozy window seating and loved the ambiance thanks to their floral interiors along with holiday ligthing right next to our table. Noise levels on the quiet side and easy to have conversations. They have a decent kids menu, and the Chicken Fingers ($10) were perfect for our little one. Huevos Rancheros ($19), and Vegetarian Omelette ($19) which was served with home fries and tossed salad was a good portion. Kimbo Coffee ($4.25) was actually pretty good although would've loved it to be warmer. Refills were slow to come. Food was inline with our expectations. Food arrived within 8-10 mins of placing our order, so yeah, really quick! Our initial server/waiter wasn't that attentive but their crew members were definitely more alert. Overall, pretty decent experience.

First things first as I'm sure other reviewers have flagged but Lula is BYOB. We forgot that memo but luckily they partner up and recommend local wine / liquor distributors who are able and willing to swing down to the restaurant with a bottle of your favorite thing. Prices are high (on-par with what you'd expect from NYC fine dining) but the ambiance isn't stuffy and staff were kind, friendly and generally attentive. Note that the restaurant is generally loud (there is no music) so you might find yourself raising your voice to talk to your partner. The restaurant was completely busy so reservations are necessary though thankfully did not find it as competitive as NYC to get a prime-time Saturday night dinner reservation. The focaccia, a staple on Lula's menu, was excellent though I would do without the +$3 additional sardine sauce / accompaniment which I felt was unnecessary. The beef tartare was my personal favorite, light and delicious and a generous portion paired with the cream sauce and chips. We were generally satisfied by the time our entrees came out and I really enjoyed the salmon / fish dish they served along with the clams. Finishing with the Baked Alaska was also excellent (though not game-changing) and we enjoyed our time here. Would recommend a visit and think there's enough going on nearby to warrant a trip to Ridgewood, NJ regardless!

Felt very rushed; the hostess ( not our waiter) came and took my plate without asking me if I were finished or not; I had to tell her that I was still eating my dinner! Also, they serve you popcorn to nibble on while you're waiting for your dinner? Felt like we were in a movie theater or a bar/ grill! I ordered the beef carpaccio which they serve with potatoe chips; for the price that they charge for the appertizer, you would expect better! Food was good but not great! Overall not a great experience!

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

If you want healthy, flavorful, and filling dishes, come to True Food Kitchen…read more As soon as you enter, you'll take in the clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing interior. I will ALWAYS only start with their Iced Shakerato (organic espresso and brown sugar). I cannot recommend this drink, enough. Yes, even in the winter! We started with the Edamame Dumplings (white truffle oil, dashi, Thai basil, sesame seeds), Charred Cauliflower (medjool dates, harissa tahini, dill, mint, pistachio), the Seasonal Roasted Butternut Squash Soup (garnished with sage). All these starters were consumed within seconds, were at optimal temperatures, and the sauce that covered each cauliflower was exquisite. The entrees were: Ancient Grains Bowl (organic grains, miso sesame glazed sweet potato, charred onions, snap peas, portobello, avocado, pistachio pesto, hemp seeds, turmeric) and the Chicken Tender Plate (four tenders served with simple salad). The Grains Bowl was packed with healthy and tasty ingredients and the Chicken Tenders were only lightly battered, soft to chew, and came with four large pieces. I will, most definitely, be a happy return customer to True Food Kitchen and it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Ohhhhh.... ONE MORE THING AND PLEASE, KEEP IN MIND.....one of the reasons I visited was for the Chia Seed Pancakes, but their brunch menu is ONLY served "during weekends," from open until 3:00 PM.

The service was ok this time around. I originally ordered the rancher's hash which over easy eggs instead of sunny side since I'm expecting and want to make sure to eat foods that are well cooked instead of under, but it came with sunny side anyway. The avocado looked like it was going bad and still had the skin on it...I've never seen an avocado served like that in a restaurant before...almost bad and with the skin still on it. I also wasn't aware it would have steak slices as it doesn't specify that in the description of the rancher's hash so I assumed it'd be crumbled ground beef...either way, the bowl itself didn't look as appetizing as it sounded in the description. I opted to switch to the grass fed burger I had my first visit here and it was ok, first time was definitely better than this time around and the air fried fries were ok, most of them underneath the initial picture look and tasted overcooked which was another disappointment. I enjoyed with my lavender matcha, Margherita sourdough pizza (YUM!) and the brussel sprouts for our starters. This visit was certainly disappointing on Mother's Day. I really want to recommend and keep coming back for the fact that it's health consciousness menu but don't want to pay for 'just ok' food either...nor recommend a place that's just ok.
