Yummmmy!!! I spent at least 10 minutes looking at the menu deciding what to choose because every option looks delightful. It's the perfect place for a sweet treat on the beach, the vibes are immaculate. -1star because they charge $1 to flip the cone into a cup, I feel like it's too big for one person so sharing in a cup is the only way for me to eat it.
Located on the boardwalk, this spot has a bunch of delicious treats. I definitely suggest you check it out. - The Collins are unique and fluffy. In addition to being tasty, the cone is well adored with extras such as chocolate sauce, and cookie crumbles. - I appreciate that the item is served with a wooden spoon... Much better than plastic.
ICE CREAM, you scream, we all scream for chimney cake ice cream! Finally hopped on this chimney cake trend, and it's 100% the cone for me when it comes to my ice cream. With buttery, soft and chewy layers encrusted in sugar crystals that remind me of a super pillowy donut, these chimney cake cones are the perfect decadent addition to your soft serve or gelato. You can find this scrumptious, freshly made Czech dessert speciality (as well as ice cream, gelatos and shakes) at @turndough , the first chimney cake shop in LA! I've probably walked by this little hidden gem of an ice cream shop a million times on Santa Monica/Venice boardwalk, and I would highly recommend stopping by on a hot day to get a refreshing sweet treat that is lovingly made fresh to order! I am always looking for a yummy soft serve. Turn Dough was beyond that and more. I had the soft serve with pistachio and honey inside a churro cone. It was soooo good, but a big portion for more than I can handle. I suggest sharing it with someone. My son had the Strawberry shake which he of course raved about. It was a nice treat to end the evening walk at Venice Beach. It's a stall on the strand so if you're out walking, this would be a nice treat to have. Keep in mind that it is on the strand so you will have to pay for parking around the corner or at any of the parking lots near by. The service was on point. Thank you D for your kind hospitality and being patient as we looked through the menu. Thank you also for the recommendation.
So bright! It's hard to miss! I was craving soft serve while skating on the beach trail and this place caught my eye. It's a big pop of color with a side seating area. The portions here are pretty large, I was barely able to finish my ice cream even though I ordered the smallest thing on the menu. I had so many questions about how I was able to customize my order. The lady on the cash register was very kind and patient answering all my questions. I got soft serve in a cup with recess pieces. So milky and creamy, definitely hit the spot!
Turn Dough is at Venice Beach, and their logo will draw you in to see what they're about! The employee was helpful and answered all my questions to help me make the best choice. I ordered the baked cinnamon cone, vanilla bean, with a Captain Crunch and fruity pebble mix on top. It was really fun to eat while watching the skateboarder on the beach!
4th of July/2023: After enjoying a fun event on Venice Beach Boardwalk, on an incredibly sunny day, my friend & I were craving something cold & yummy to cool down; Turn Dough hit the spot! Matcha Kit Kat: Yummy vanilla bean Gelato with pretty much Matcha everything, including organic row matcha powder, matcha Kit Kat bar(Yum!) & matcha syrup! I enjoyed every single spoonful! Loved the flavors! Chimney Cone: Firm, placed in a cup, along w/a pretty Pink Spoon, which I'm grateful for; sunny day...it became a bit messy! Incredibly happy they gave me two wet Hand Wipes, because they definitely came in handy! While the cone was tasty, next time I'll try another flavor in just a cup! Maybe another flavor goes better with the Chimney Cone...hmmm! Location: Right on Oceanfront Walk, along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, in the heart of Venice Beach, where all of the action is! Overall: Friendly customer service, excellent location, grateful I can easily walk over, enjoyed the Matcha flavors, so I'll definitely return & try more flavors...in a cup! Also, willing to possibly try the chimney cone with a chocolate flavor!
Fun to watch them make the cinnamon rolled dough cup. I do recommend not getting Nutella or chocolate. It's just too much on it. The Boba shake was one of the best we've had.
Came here for dessert. The portion is huge so we got the artisan gelato Nutella bowl to share. The base was vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is pretty average but what made it good was the amount of toppings they mixed with the Ice cream. There was a good amount of chocolate, Nutella, strawberries, and kindered bueno so that every bite was delicious. They have so many options. Looking forward to returning to try their other flavors. Hard to find street parking but they have paid parking lots ($10) just steps away. The parking attendant was nice enough to allow us to park for free while we quickly ordered our ice cream.
We came here craving ice cream on a Friday night in Venice. It's located right in the area where there are a lot of restaurant and shops all facing the water. I ordered the brownie flavor in the cinnamon cone and it was about $13 pre-tip. It came with 2 brownie pieces and a good amount of chocolate drizzle with a base of vanilla soft serve. The cone was smaller than I anticipated, other pictures showed the cone being visible outside the cup but mine was smaller than the size of the cup. They gave us wet wipes to clean up afterwards, which was appreciated. Overall a bit pricy but expected for a beachfront ice cream stand.
One sweet place to go for dessert. My husband loved his shake!! Such a fun ice cream shop and clean
Ambiance: the desserts shop is located in the busiest walkway in venice beach, parking garage nearby and there's also metered street parking Service: very friendly and placed the order and prepared the food adequately Food: variety choices on the menu for ice cream and slush, and you could also create your own, they serve Italian Style Gelato Vanilla Bean, the soft serve on top of chimney cakes, the central European pastries Minnie Macarons - ***** Dulce De Leche, Ice Cream, Rainbow Sprinkles, Macarons, one of the most beautiful ice cream cones I've had, highly recommend for its presentation and great taste Price: the ice cream and slushes cost between $10 to $15 each
We MADE IT!!! Brought my foodie girl friend to this World Famous Chimney Cakes with Ice Cream shop located in Venice Beach, and we are so impressed with their customer service and the delicious icy treats. Their cones and ice cream are handcrafted daily from scratch. Street parking is available but it might be crowded on the weekends, this shop is walking distance to the beach so the views are STUNNING. The girl who introduces the menu and helps us order is SUPER helpful and she is very sweet and friendly. What an amazing experience!!! Matcha Milkshakes | $11.90 -- very smooth texture, well blended matcha powder with the handcrafted vanilla ice cream, topped with matcha wafer candies. Ferrero Rocher Ice Cream Cone | $13.90 -- surprisingly it's not too sweet and pretty organic taste. Creamy soft serve topped with three Ferrero Rocher chocolate. Quite a nice summer icy treat at the beach. LA foodies!! What are you waiting for!!!!

This is fun and worth the calories. As you can see in the photo, my s'mores sundae had a toasted marshmallow on top, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and graham crumbs. What you can't see is the soft, chewy cinnamon croissant style cone, smeared with Nutella under it all. So fun and delicious! We also ordered a simple strawberry shake and it was very good too. Warning: the location is right by the opening to Venice Beach, which is a safer patch for kiddos than other parts, but I got the sense that you could have some front lines people watching here at times too. A lot of homelessness a few blocks away, so keep that in mind. It would feel terrible to walk by people struggling to find meals eating one of these gluttonous treats. read more

The idea is great but the vanilla gelato was awful. The cinnamon cone was good and so were the toppings. But the vanilla gelato tastes worse than diet vanilla ice cream I've had. Service was nice and great place on Venice beach. This is a place for show and pictures, not if you're looking for a delicious dessert. read more

My expectations were very high from all the videos and pictures I see on Instagram. My shake was so tasty that I wish I would have ordered two! I will definitely be back to try other desserts on the menu!!! read more
After spending a day at the beach we wanted something sweet. After initially deciding to get the ice cream/donut sandwich, we changed our minds after seeing this store. We loved the Tiramisu cone that we got. After eating the ice cream, you get to the good stuff. The cone is churro like and soaks up the melted goodness of the ice cream and is the perfect way to end the treat. Definitely recommend it although it is a bit messy to eat. Once is enough to share if you're not wanting a huge sugar rush. read more

This place is SOOO delicious! I got the Brownie ice cream, my friends got S'mores and Birthday Cake. We loved it so much, we couldn't stop raving about it. Next time, we're going to hit up the Venice location. It was super hot today so get your pictures quick before it melts!! And thanks for the IG story feature Turn Dough!! read more

I loved the effort! I'm coming in with a little bias since I've had the real dessert in Prague but it wasn't too bad! I think what made my rating a little low is the ice cream. It wasn't anything special, just regular soft serve. Toppings and the Trdelnik was good. Just maybe make the ice cream a little more flavorful with more flavor options and higher quality. But overall a great effort! read more

Brownies, ice cream, walnuts, Nutella inside the "cone". Just a few of my favorite things wrapped into one. Soooooo delicious. The soft serve is high quality and the dough was cooked well but not hard. I'll definitely go back next time I'm strolling around Venice beach. Worth the price read more

The best ice cream hands down!! It was my first time trying out Turn Dough and I was in heaven with every single bite I took! I ordered the Bday Cake and they actually put a candle and give you matches to light the candle! How freaking amazing! The cinnamon sugar roll cone is to die for!! I personally do not like waffle cones so I can easily say that this is my favorite ice cream shop in all of LA read more

The cone tasted great, I was expecting the texture of doughnut but it had a nice crust to it. Be careful of the messy leak from the ice cream melting. It was a yummy dessert for a hot day, would have this again. read more

It's a mandatory stop for me every time I go to Venice beach (which is a lot lot). They have ridiculous flavors that gets your attention. I absolutely love their lemon chimney cake ice cream! Their cake that is absolutely delicious on its own and made fresh everyday. The lemon one is filled with lemon curd and caramel and raspberry syrup topped with graham bits and sea salt. It's phenomenal. I don't feel gross eating it after. read more
My friend and I were walking the beach path from Santa Monica all the way to the Venice Canals and even though it wasn't scorching hot, it was warm enough that we agreed we deserved ice cream to cool us down. Of course, I checked Yelp and true enough, Turn Dough is nearby and on the path that connects Venice to Santa Monica. It's just a walk-up, order, then grab-and-go type deal. There's a bench and a table outside, but it was too warm that we didn't feel like sitting/standing around. I believe it's called turn dough because the "cone" is actually made of dough, and very similar to a cinnamon bun in taste. it's made to order so it takes approximately 10 minutes for your order to come out, which they will tell you ahead of time. I ordered the tiramisu flavor and my friend had the brownie. You can create your own combo, but we couldn't be bothered, lol. It comes out in a cone shape, but it actually sits on a cup, so that mess is somewhat minimized as you work your way to your ice cream AND cone. I have to say, it was heaven! In my case, I had 3 desserts in one ~ the cinnamon roll, the ice cream AND the tiramisu. The dough was still somewhat warm and the ice cream just melts into it. I was tearing off the dough and dipping it on the ice cream. It was very filling, so I was thankful we were on the move. it was actually perfect to snack on on the boardwalk. Very California, i have to say. The serving size matched the price, which was around $9 each. But a treat is a treat, so go big or go home! My friend and I enjoyed every bite. read more

Dear Frankie!…
Gobbled up REAL quick, those things are dangerously good. Another one I found on IG and saved. Went here before salsa dancing to minimize guilt. lol. Ordered Smore's and Tiramisu; both amazing! The marshmallow was burnt just right and a little firm inside with some chocolate inside. Tiramisu was so tasty and had a mellow citrus undertone. The cone itself is magic. The lady was friendly. Not the best options for seating (there was a bench and one table) and parking but we found a spot. Will be going back to try some other flavors. read more

Although i've been to Venice Beach hundreds of times before, I never really gave this location a try as I tend to stick to savory flavors instead. But boy, am I glad I did! I had the honey and pistachio cone and my nieces had the m&m's topped one with Nutella. Both were very delicious. The only downside was how fast it melts but that's due to the warmed cinnamon cone. I was not upset whatsoever though! The women at the counter are very friendly and helpful, while giving me time to decide and offering suggestions and their personal favorites. I have recently moved out of state but I think I might need to make more frequent trips! read more

Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Snuck over one weekday evening with hubby. The soft serve was a bit icier than we prefer. The cone itself was a cool idea but not as soft and chewy as I had hoped for. We tried the tiramisu and felt the added toppings were pretty good. read more

This place deserves more people to come here. It's seriously under hyped. I found this place while browsing on yelp and the cones intrigued me. Especially the picture with the s'mores on the cone so I figure I try it. It wasn't too expensive and I felt like it was worth it. It was sooooooooo finger licking delicious! I got mine with half chocolate half vanilla ice cream and it had a toasted marshmallow on the top with caramel and chocolate sauce and graham cracker crumbs on the top and on a cinnamon sugar dough cone with Nutella in the cone. OMG it was soooooo good! The hit for me was the Nutella cinnamon sugar cone. I loved it so much! It wasn't too sweet or too much. And it was so beautifully presented :) i would definitely be back. I walked all the way from Santa Monica pier to Venice beach just to eat here. Would definitely be back read more

I've been wanting to try Turn Dough for a while. So, we finally went there yesterday and they did not disappoint. I had the Ferrero one and it was absolutely delicious. The ice cream is soft and creamy while the chimney cake reminds me of churros. It's a great combo and a pretty big portion too. I'll definitely be back soon! :) read more

Can you just get a chimney cake?
Yes you can, cone shape not cylinder as in Europe.
Do you closed at 9pm on Monday's? That's what your website states but I just got here at 8:15pm and the staff has shut down all the ordering windows.
We went on a Wednesday night just before 8:00 PM, & enjoyed our cone at the beach. We left just before 9:00 PM & they were already dark.…
