Wow what a treat I had never heard of this type of dessert before and as I am a cinnamon roll fan this cone was right up my alley! I brought my daughter along and of course she wanted to eat the unicorn, my first reaction was that I wouldn't enjoy the hard candies on it but instead I was pleasantly surprised with the round pieces. If it weren't for my kid I would have had a hard time making a decision for what to get. When I heard it had Nutella in the cone I was a little freaked out it would be too much but it wasn't it was the perfect amount layered between the cone and cream. The employees were lovely and the work the girl did on the cone was like watching art be constructed. For the people complaining about how long it takes, just stop. How cool is it you get something freshly made to order like this! Warm and yummy with that delicious vanilla as well. And for those complaining about the price? This is a special treat and it's the boardwalk jeez, even Ben and Jerry's is like $8 for a scoop get over it lol. Next time I will try the shake with a CBD add on, I love that they offer CBD sodas as well. The location couldn't be more perfect for a treat such as this. This is definitely Instagram worthy food and it's hard to go wrong with ice cream with your choice of toppings, but I didn't like the chimney cake, which is what Turn Dough is known for. Perhaps it's just a preference, but we felt something was wrong with the flavor of the dough... it almost tasted sour. I kind of wonder if it was just a yeast taste that we didn't like. Also, plus for them making your chimney cake fresh but it does take a while.. There was one other person in line and it took us 10 min to get ours. Overall, if you're craving ice cream and want to try this chimney cake, I wouldn't recommend against it but I also think you can find other ice cream options walking along the boardwalk. read more

I saw this as one of the main go to places for ice cream with a flare and to be honest I felt a little underwhelmed. Could have been the item I ordered, or the fact I was expecting a nice vanilla velvet soft served taste from the ice cream that I just didn't get. Not to mention the price was pretty steep for the size of ice cream cup I received. We walked up, to this cute decorative place with so many options to choose from. There's some thing there for everyone! From ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, and more. I stood to the side for about 7 minutes before I finally decided on what I wanted. When I checked in I received a $3 off coupon. When I tried to present it to the cashier she immediately responded that the coupon was for a different location but I informed her that I got the coupon when I checked into that exact location and she still was hesitant. She went so much as to check in on her phone herself to see if I was right and I feel that was a bit much but it is what it is. I got the captain crunch ice cream that had vanilla ice cream topped with captain crunch and fruity pebbles and drizzled with caramel. My sister got the vanilla cup with Twix and cookie dough. I've been stalking this place for a while but avoided it because it's in the heart of a tourist trap areas. It was incredibly expensive for a place that doesn't churn scratch, homemade ice cream and definitely is more geared towards Insta hype/ food p*rn. It was $15 for this plain cone with a water. The chimney cake itself was good in my opinion, but my partner didn't agree. It has a cinnamon, spicy citrus flavor to it... think Swedish buns but less buttery and more spice. Wish I could order that by itself, but then again if I'm spending around $15, I'd prefer to visit a legit pastry shop. The soft serve was the most disappointing part. It was bland and had high water content which means they skimp on the cream. Because of this, it was melting as soon as it was handed to us. You can see it in the photo. Someone else described it as "milk" flavor and I would agree. Not really much vanilla and way too sweet. We dumped out the ice cream and I finished the cone by myself. I was really excited to try Turn Dough for the chimney cake cones, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for me. The soft serve was pretty ordinary and only comes in one flavor -- vanilla. The extensive menu sounded exciting despite that (various toppings on the soft serve for different flavor combinations), but at the end of the day, the soft serve itself was neither creamy nor memorable. My toddler was excited for his promised ice cream treat and ended up refusing the soft serve after a few bites and kept asking where his ice cream was. We ate through the ice cream quickly and had high hopes for the chimney cone, but that also fell short. The dough was a bit hard and unraveled easily, making it difficult to just take a bite off like a normal cone -- one attempted bite ended up unraveling a bunch of cone and making a mess because it was hard to take a clean bite. TLDR: pretty mediocre soft serve on a novelty cone that wasn't quite worth the price for me. read more

However for the price point I would probably reconsider ordering. The cone was sugared properly but did not taste fresh - despite their claim. It's really difficult to eat by hand and on the go as you need to break the cone apart with your fingers but the Nutella on the inside made it worth it. They do give out wet wipes for free so that's a + If you're willing to pay the $7+ price point for a ice cream scoop and a baked sugary cone then this is your spot. Makes for a good photo op with the beach in the background though! This place is located on Venice Boardwalk so parking would be best found on the side streets, metered with 2 hour limit. read more

The s'mores was great but if I'm being completely honest, the marshmallow was too huge and not torched enough .... i love roasted/melted/torched marshmallows but it was too much of plain, unmelted marshmallow for me personally. So it was a lot of chewing. The cone was a really interesting twist!!! Tasted like a churro!! Best part was the Nutella spread inside. Wish it had more Nutella because the Nutella came off quick with the ice cream. I mean overall it was tasty but both items that I got melted incredibly fast and we had a whole table to clean up! It was all over our hands and the table! At first I was confused on why the cashier gave us hand wipes but after a few minutes, I figured it out. The fresh cone makes the ice cream melt at an incredible speed. I've never seen ice cream melt so fast in my life. We had to hurry and shove as much ice cream down our throats but it turned to soup very quick. I know the owners / workers can't do anything about it because that's their specialty cones but my only suggestion would be bigger bowls or something to catch the ice cream??? Turn dough! Oh how I've missed you... The creations here are something special ! I got a vanilla ice cream with different assorted cereals and pretzels with a freshly made cinnamon cake on top. At first I was a bit skeptical considering how many flavors were being mixed together from the fruit loops, captain crunch, Oreos and pretzels but it worked WONDERFULLY. The cinnamon cake on top was pretty hot and suited the the ice cream rather nicely . It was just ok. I would have liked it more if it wasn't like an over priced McDonalds cone. For $10 I thought I was getting something extraordinary. I ordered their lemon desert. It came with a whole dried up lemon slice, no sugar on it, it wasn't edible at all. It was on top of regular vanilla soft serve ice cream with some cookie crumbs sprinkled on it. They served it in a fancy bread cone. But they sell that type of bread at 2×$1 where I'm from, and fresh. It had a drop of raspberry sauce and a pinch of lemon custard inside.
