I had to treat myself to magic and although I'm not vegan, the vegan mint chip ice cream was my craving. The service is always on point and it's like walking in a Disneyland ride. Thank you for bringing me joy!
Came here because I heard they had ice cream for pups. Yes they do and it's less than $4. It was a special occasion for my dog so he was really happy to try. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Parking can be tough in the area but if you time it right, it's great and free.
Popped in for a scoop of their small batch, homemade ice cream - the honey lavender was tasty! My son enjoyed his chocolate ice cream. Shop was big and clean on a corner spot with friendly, efficient service and a bench to sit on with some counter space to lean on if enjoying the treats in house.
I'm so happy that I'm able to eat diary again specially ice cream. I have missed eating ice cream so bad. I came to salt and straw by myself after finishing shopping. I ordered the sea salt caramel and strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. It was simply delicious. It a must try. And of course, the best part was that had a lot of samples!!! Great service.
Was my first time trying Salt and Straw and we wanted some premium good quality ice cream and this place hit the spot. I really like ice cream shops that have unique flavors and high quality flavors and this place delivered on both fronts. I sampled a bunch of flavors and the coffee and nuts flavor was pretty good, but ended up getting the strawberry with black pepper and the chocolate brownie on a waffle cone. Both of those flavors were pretty solid, I liked the chocolate brownie a lot more than the strawberry, the strawberry had portions where it tasted straight like strawberry syrup that was a bit too sweet for my liking (even though I have a sweet tooth) The worker was nice even though we had like 4-5 samples before deciding what to buy without any pressure so that was nice. I like that they give napkins and a spoon as well if you ask. The only negatives were the price and I wish the waffle cone was made fresh right on the spot. But otherwise, would come back again!

I love salt and straw so much. One of the best parts of it is that they seem to expect people to ask for samples and I love how they have the spoon dispenser easily accessible. They always have good service as well and are friendly. The salted malted cookie dough is usually my go to however every year I get SO excited when March 1 hits because pots o gold & rainbows aka the lucky charms ice cream is in season. Probably one of my favorite ice creams I've ever had - I highly recommend! The best bites are the ones with the lucky charms marshmallow chunks and it pairs perfectly with the ice cream - truly tastes like lucky charms idk how they do it!! The cereal series is definitely superior in my opinion. I also recently tried the peanut butter brownie one which was still really good but I of course had to stay loyal to the lucky charms. I've told all my friends and coworkers about this I am the lucky charms ice cream biggest advocate
I can't imagine giving anything less than 5 stars to this location, or really Salt & Straw in general! They are consistently generous with their portions and my favorite is the single split scoop combo (just $0.50 extra for a split scoop)! Every month they usually have a new series and it really makes getting ice cream that much more exciting every time. I appreciate that the workers are so patient and they are generous with all the samples I ask for. I don't get angry or annoyed when the line is long because they truly take their time with each customer. And this location, this evening was no exception. They were friendly, moved the line right along, and I was able to get my samples and order in, in a jiffy! One of my favorite parts of this location is that there's some seating and area to eat inside. Not a ton of space, probably just for like 4 people to sit and a few people to stand on the opposite wall, but it's still something! It was nice to take advantage of the seating area and little stand for ice cream cups! They have pints available for purchase and at this location, they had some merchandise for sale too. Pretty cool. I'll definitely be back!
Salt & Straw located in the heart of Venice Abbot Kinney Blvd. Their salt ice cream flavors are all delicious but I love that they have the seasonal ones and the pint take home options. The free samples add it easier for us to decide. The kids had the chocolate brownie and the peppermint kids scoop. Each scoop is generous so I was totally happy with just one scoop. The gorgeous stained glass art outside is gorgeous. I realize they have another location closer to us so we may visit them there too. Spacious interior made it easy for us to finish eating inside as it would get too messy if the kids would try to eat and walk.

I ended up getting the caramel ribbon and the coffee with pecan in a cone. It was pricey but I wanted two kinds. Ultimately I should've just gotten the coffee one -- I liked it better. The caramel in that quantity was just a bit too much sweetness. Glad I visited and would definitely go back to it or another location in the future.
Very delicious creative ice cream flavors. We got salted caramel, cookie dough, and jasmine milk tea. Pretty quick service and they let you try as many flavor as you want!

We stopped for ice cream and SALT AND STRAW, before heading back to San Diego. It's sort of a tradition to get an ice cream on a day trip. We had heard of KINNEY BLVD from the FRIDAY Food Truck Cookout. I learned that that's where they filmed the last scenes in the movie CHEF!!! In the ice cream shop, they had different flavors of different local chefs. I chose the CARAMEL ICE CREAM in a waffle cup. As for my Partner, he chose the STRAWBERRY SORBET in a waffle cone. It was a very hot day and this looked like a perfect rest stop for the kids and I. Started by Kim Malek and her cousin, they had both never made ice cream before and are completely self taught. They have interesting flavors and have expanded quite a bit from their start in Oregon. The Abbot Kinney location was packed and service was a bit slow since their was only one person who was scooping the ice cream and serving as cashier. Honey lavender: Steeped lavender petals in local honey, bringing out more complex and herbaceous flavors. Has a distinct light purple color and did not taste like soap like some places that attempt lavender flavors. Hazelnut cookies and cream: Okay, if you think you've had Cookies & Cream, you haven't tried Salt & Straw's Oregon version. Apparently, Oregon grows like 99% of the country's hazelnuts, and they actually use nuts from their own farm for this. It's a coconut cream base with bourbon vanilla, packed with crushed sandwich cookies and this insane hazelnut butter fudge ripple. read more

This ice cream store is one of my favorites and their limited editions are always interesting. This time I got Hong Kong milk tea with toasted white chocolate. It has bold flavor of Hong Kong milk tea and chunks of chocolate pieces in it. There is a public parking lot in the back and also street parking are available. Service was great, patiently accommodating my tasting requests. The store was a bit smaller than others in my opinion. They have a bench outside to enjoy the ice cream. read more

Great and delicious place for ice cream. Highly recommend it. A lot of delicious flavours, some seasonal some are here to stay. Forgot to mention "blue cheese pear" ice cream flavour,- has been a great surprise and finding. Love the taste and the mix of those too - very u expected and soft. Aand you can always take them in a pint to go, and enjoy at home. Sea salt+caramel ribbon and honey lavender are my top choices! But they also have a lot of others for your taste, including some vegan options, which also taste great . Might have line son some days and parking is hard here, but nothing can beat the taste. read more

Some good ice cream bro. Gourmet. Not all the flavors are gonna taste good that way of course. My friend liked the olive oil one and I could not taste a thing. I just got a big pile of junk that tasted hecka sweet. It was great. It's on the expensive side even for gourmet though it's basically the cost of a cheap dinner. And that's exactly what it was. New seasonal flavors every month I wanna say. Sigh. More chances to get fat at the expense of my wallet. read more

I finally made a visit here after all these years. Shame on me! I ordered a kids size scoop of hazelnut cookies and cream. It was the perfect size to satisfy my craving with the right amount of sweetness. I also sampled another flavor with strawberry and coconut and that was so refreshing. Service was so friendly and ambiance was great with the perfect slots to put in your used spoons after sampling your ice cream. I'm definitely coming back! read more

Must try ice cream spot. The flavors they have available are irresistible. You can ask for samples to help you decide what flavors you want. Staff are super engaging and friendly. Inside has a couple spots to sit and eat, and some seats outside the parlor as well. read more
Located along Abbott Kinney in the corner of California Street, Salt & Straw is a highly recommended place if you unexpectedly had a craving for quirky ice cream flavors. Stopped by here today for a scoop of ice cream. I was helped by Tino who was more than willing to give me samples before deciding on what flavor yo get. I probably tried about 6 different flavors but decided on Coffee and love nuts. Tino asked me if I'd like to sample it first before deciding. I told him no cuz I'm sure I'll like it and I truly did. Why not? It has two things that I really love which are coffee and nuts. read more

I've been obsessed with salt and straw for years, but haven't been to this location. It's located in the busy Abbott Kinney area. It definitely is hard to find parking for as well as has very long lines. We came in right before closing to try one of the new seasonal flavors, toasted white chocolate with almonds. I liked the ice cream quite a bit, but I can't say their portions were particularly generous and compared to the Manhattan Beach location, They seem to be kind of skimpy on the scoop. especially for it being nearly a 9 dollar scoop of ice cream. However, salt and straw will always be my favorite ice cream joint and I will definitely keep coming back. read more
