I was in the area and, based on the reviews, wanted to give this place a try. I love a good breakfast spot and was hoping to find a really great one. The restaurant itself felt clean and comfortable, but the food didn't quite wow me. It was good, but I've had better eggs Benedict and better shakshuka. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite breakfast dishes, but the hollandaise sauce lacked the acidity needed to balance out the richness of the dish. I had a similar reaction to the shakshuka: it was good, but not great. That said, the breakfast potatoes were really good. Honestly, I could have made a breakfast out of those alone!

I always feel rushed and in the way while trying to decide what I want to order. You line up, order, and pay at the counter. There is barely room between where to line up and the tables. I've been there twice and had hoped to make it a new local spot to treat myself. The food I ordered was mediocre *except* the potatoes, those are great. There is some free parking which is easier to get on the weekdays and a few metered spots close. It's not somewhere that I'll be frequenting.

Breakfast was great! An easy, five stars. The main employee which I assume is the owner was great and had a good attitude. We were wearing USA soccer jerseys and he was very excited. We were going to the game. We would recommend everything that we had. The signature croissant French toast was absolutely amazing as well as the bacon hash. The breakfast tacos were also great. You get plenty of food. It was all delicious. Atmosphere was chill.

The location and the vibes made the place perfect spot to come for weekend brunch. Could easily imagine beach stop right before or after brunch, or simple stroll at either the marina or Abbot Kinney. No wonder why it's extremely busy during weekend brunch to lunch time. Plenty of seats both indoor and outdoor, some of which could accommodate bigger crowds. The menu was long with bunch of selections available so you might take some time to prolly make up your mind. We went for one savory and one sweet dish. Starting with the Biscuits Benny, serving scrambled eggs with biscuits/scones, cubed potato wedges, fried chicken and obviously gravy sauce. I loved the well-seasoned wedges and tender chicken with nice crispy coating, but the gravy sauce was just not for me. Tad too thick and made the overall meal felt heavy paired to it. Got the Chocolate crepe for the sweet dish, but sub the strawberries with peanut butter at extra charge. Nothing special to call out from the crepe batter itself. Toppings were obviously yum cos nothing could go wrong with Nutella and PB. Would consider this bit pricey being close to $15.

We came to Fratelli cafe do breakfast on a Friday late morning. Food was exquisite, matcha and coffee delicious. The owners and staff were amazing. We will definitely come back.

One of my favorite cafés in Marina del Rey! Fratelli Café is in such a great location -- literally a 5-minute walk from the beach, making it the perfect place to stop for coffee and breakfast. Sivan deserves a special shoutout because she is the heart of the place! She has the BEST energy, is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and makes you feel taken care of from the second you walk in. She's also super helpful when you're trying to decide what to order and is always happy to give her opinion on the food and coffee. (Did i also mention-she makes all syrups in house daily) The tofu scramble was delicious, especially with an over-medium egg added on top. Their white mocha latte was also amazing. And I have to mention the pistachio croissant -- sadly, they don't carry it anymore, but if they ever bring it back, GET IT. Such a cute café with great food, great drinks, and genuinely amazing service. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in Marina

2-Stack Buttermilk Pancakes, Biscuit Benny, Pistachio Latte

A Yelp find that I have been wanting to try for a few weeks now and finally made it happen. Ordered the Biscuit Benny with a side 2-stack Buttermilk Pancake. The second meal ordered was The Chicken n Waffle with a side of 2-Scrambled Eggs. Pistachio Latte as well. The service was straight forward. The ambiance was one of a trendy Breakfast/Brunch spot. The environment however was a little uncomfortable for us as we arrived. It's like we walked in and the music stopped the record scratched and all eyes were on us briefly. Made more uncomfortable by the fact one of the hosts (Jose) kept bumping into me as if the place couldn't fit the both of us at the same time. After the second such bump, I had to ask him, was he ok. He apologized and feigned not to notice. However (afterwards and to his credit) he seemed a little more vigilant toward us ensuring we were well throughout our dining experience. So, (initially) not a very welcoming crowd for certain. Food arrived and I was really looking forward to it due to the delectable appearances of all the photos of past patrons. Our meals arrived together and looked perfect. And they were well put together meals just lacking flavor in certain areas. The Biscuit Benny's Gravy was thick, and textured the way I like for a Gravy over a Biscuit, just lacked flavor. And the Fried Chicken it covered was lacking, flavor wise, as well. Nice and crunchy however mine was a little tough due to an over cook. The Buttermilk Pancakes were well cooked just lacked Butter. Initially I assumed they were buttered when prepared but if so, not very much. The Home Potatoes however were the star of this dish. My guest even ate several off my plate as well. Very flavorful standing on their own. Over all solid meal that looked great. Prepared fresh and very eatable. The Chicken and Waffles were a definite solid as well. Just lacking flavor on the Fried Chicken, but the Waffle hit all markers. I'd say this is very much so a delicious safe place to consume breakfast or brunch. Reasonably priced (we were just short of $85 for our meals and a tip). Initially for us coming in, it didn't seem so welcoming but by the time we were to leave, things seemed somewhat better, and we felt better about it all, at that point. May be we will return and explore more menu items in the future. We'll see. Gratitude and give thanks Fratelli Cafe and Staff for the experience.

Great breakfast experience. We had gluten-free French toast, a breakfast sandwich, and a 2 egg plate. Everything was cooked well, served extremely hot, and tasted great. Service was very friendly and helpful from the moment we entered. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Fratelli Cafe was a nice vibe for breakfast with friends! Very diverse menu with both sweet and savory options! The strawberry matcha might have been the best I've ever had. The prices were also pretty reasonable and the owner and employees were very kind and attentive!

Came to have breakfast with some friends. At nine am on a Sunday there was plenty of open parking. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and helped to an appropriate table for our party even though it's order at the counter. I liked getting to look over the menu at the table then ordering when ready. I got the sweet and savory (waffles w eggs, sausage). I also got the spiced mocha. The food came out quickly and accurately. The food was good, although I didn't really taste the pearl sugar in the Belgian waffle... It just tasted like a regular waffle instead. Still pretty good though. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was good. The coffee was beautiful and also tasty, although it was more coffee than mocha. Overall food and service were really good and the place was clean and well laid out. They did multiple times try to clear our dishes even though we weren't ready yet. I felt rushed to get out. I'd try it again though. Maybe it's a better place for take out.

What's not to love? This is one of my favorite spots Los Angeles. The food is always fresh, the coffee, Matcha, tea, pastries are divine. If you haven't had the spice mocha yet, I highly recommend it. But this review is really a huge thank you. DoorDash completely made a disaster out of my order and delivered it to the wrong place and then argued with me about it. And you all took such amazing care of me and I am so grateful. Thank you so much to Sivan and Lior for writing a wrong that wasn't even their issue to begin with. I will now be ordering solely from your app. My cupped salad was amazing and my iced matcha was perfect!!!! Thank you!!

    Chai tea
    Brinny S.

I came here for brunch with a friend, and we were sat outside. Thankfully they have large umbrellas out there shading you from the sun. The set up is that you go up to their counter to order your food, they'll give you a number to put on your table so they can find you to bring out your food to you when it's ready. I ordered a hot chai tea, the choco croissant French toast, and a side of turkey sausage. The chai was good, and so was the French toast, which had banana slices and Nutella drizzle on top along with a side of syrup. I'd never had croissant French toast before, but it still tasted like classic French toast. It was good, just a bit pricey in my opinion for a meal of French toast, a side, and a drink.

What a wonderful surprise…read more I live just around the corner from Jamaica Bay Inn, and for whatever reason, it took me far too long to finally have dinner here with family and friends. I wish I'd discovered it sooner. The restaurant overlooks Mother's Beach, and the setting is exactly what you'd hope for: peaceful, relaxed, and quintessential Marina del Rey. You almost expect the view to be the highlight... Then the food shows up. For appetizers, we shared the hummus plate and the calamari. Both were excellent. As someone whose kids were practically raised eating seafood around the ports of New England, calamari is one of those deceptively simple dishes we judge pretty harshly. Beachside absolutely passed the test. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was solid, but the real stars of the evening were the roasted Jidori chicken and the jumbo shrimp fettuccine. The chicken was perfectly juicy, something that sounds easy but surprisingly few restaurants consistently get right. The shrimp fettuccine completely stole the show. In fact, it's now become my daughter's regular takeout order, and she's easily the toughest pasta critic in our family. Congratulations... you've officially earned the title of our favorite pasta spot in the Marina. The service was another highlight. Our server spoke both German and Italian, had a great sense of humor, and made the evening feel warm and effortless. Between the location, the food, and the hospitality, I already know this is going to become one of our regular family dinner spots.

First let me say that Nahum, who helped us was excellent. The absolute perfect balance of checking on you but not overdoing it. If it weren't for Nahum, morning sun, and the breeze, I think we would have sent back our plates and left. Really. We didn't tell him there were any issues, because once the decision was made to stay, why ruin his holiday too? lol Ordered coffee. Dreadful. Ok, no big deal. The food came out and I could immediately SEE The Unappetizing . It's special when you can tell that your food is going to be bad before you take one bite. The French toast was Sahara dry, burned and flavorless. The chicken, was competing with it in the dry and flavorless category-- I really can't say which was worse. I don't really use hot sauce and I drowned the tenders in Cholula just to make it halfway edible. Literally we could have waited for the AMC chicken tenders and they would have been better, which is horrifying. Particularly when you try to avoid fried food in general and now you are poisoning your body for no good reason. Husband ordered a steak and eggs, medium well. I'll attach the picture and I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it was cooked properly. Eggs were not good either. Immediately, I gave hubby more than half my plate because he eats All of Everything that's put in front of him. Something would have to get up and walk off his plate for him to not eat it. He was taught not to waste food, period. The exception was steak so that he could take it home, cook it, and then eat it. This was possibly the worst meal I've ever had, and certainly on a special occasion. So many places we could have gone today that would have been a different experience, but it will never happen again. The staff are dressed in matching white t-shirts and pants, and the shirts say "All-Day Cafe." However, we walked in a little after 3:00 PM and found out we couldn't order smoothies (which end at 3:00) or breakfast items (which end much earlier at 11:00). For an "all-day cafe," that felt like a bit of a misrepresentation. Since it was very, very hot outside, I was disappointed that they were serving lukewarm water. Unfortunately, there was no vegan pizza on the menu, but our first waiter was very, very nice and friendly, and he had the kitchen accommodate us by omitting the cheese, substituting olive oil for chili oil, and adding spinach. The pizza turned out to be very thin, but yummy, and my party also enjoyed the ceviche. I had an iced coconut coffee that was absolutely delicious. After our first waiter ended his shift, our second waiter, Mike H., took over the table and never checked on us not even one single time after someone dropped off the food. When a small issue came up with one of the plates, he was just so nonchalant and dismissive, and Mike didn't add to the ambiance of the place at all. Fortunately, I believe it was a manager who then stepped in with a smile and addressed the issue, which was really nice. Aside from that unfortunate service experience, the food and drinks were tasty, but the misleading menu hours, lukewarm water on a hot day, and inattentive waiter definitely left room for improvement.

I reached out to the Gjelina team about my plastic experience and they were quick to not only take accountability but do a full-blown investigation, update their protocols, and invite me back to regain my trust. INVESTIGATION I was honestly take aback at the lengths they went to to ensure the utmost quality control. They shared that each pizza dough is individually wrapped for transport from their bakery, then assembled onsite. To make sure the plastic mishap doesn't happen again, they updated their protocol to ensure more supervisor and individual checkpoints from drop off to assembly to baking. ACCOUNTABILITY I was really appreciative of the general manager being so quick to respond and share what they were doing to understand the root of the issue AND how they could make it right. It was one thing to apologize, it's another to take action to ensure it doesn't happen again. It was evident to me then that they not only care about their business, but the customer experience as it relates to quality & safety. REBUILDING TRUST The general manager was kind enough to invite us back to have dinner on the house! Super soft bubbles in the crust leading to a crispy yet soft bite. Amazing texture and flavor combinations - Duck Confit: WOW! I went with my French boyfriend and even he approved. Perfectly crispy skin, juicy cooked to perfection inside, and the grapes were a nice unexpected touch with the flavor profile. DO NOT SKIP! SO GOOD! - Wagyu beef cheek & burrata pasta: WOWOWW!
