This is the last time I'm coming to this place. The cashier was incredibly impatient--borderline annoyed--because I was placing my order at the counter to eat in the dining area (since the servers don't take your order at the table). She gave me such an attitude that I actually had to ask her if she was feeling okay, or if she was upset because I was taking my time ordering my food--which I was doing because it was my first time at the restaurant. And it will definitely be my last. The location and the vibes made the place perfect spot to come for weekend brunch. Could easily imagine beach stop right before or after brunch, or simple stroll at either the marina or Abbot Kinney. No wonder why it's extremely busy during weekend brunch to lunch time. Plenty of seats both indoor and outdoor, some of which could accommodate bigger crowds. The menu was long with bunch of selections available so you might take some time to prolly make up your mind. We went for one savory and one sweet dish. Starting with the Biscuits Benny, serving scrambled eggs with biscuits/scones, cubed potato wedges, fried chicken and obviously gravy sauce. I loved the well-seasoned wedges and tender chicken with nice crispy coating, but the gravy sauce was just not for me. Tad too thick and made the overall meal felt heavy paired to it. Got the Chocolate crepe for the sweet dish, but sub the strawberries with peanut butter at extra charge. Nothing special to call out from the crepe batter itself. Toppings were obviously yum cos nothing could go wrong with Nutella and PB. Would consider this bit pricey being close to $15. read more

This place is pretty good! Glad there is another option and they serve breakfast all day. While visiting for a week we came in twice around breakfast/brunch hour. A little busier on Friday than a Tuesday for sure, but we found plenty of open seating at the long family style table in the center of the restaurant. The Vanilla Caramel latte (hot) and Chai Tea latte (hot) were good. If eating-in, they are served in a big mug which I found aesthetically pleasing to drink out of. You choose a place to sit and peruse the menu (lots of options) then you go up and order at the counter and take a number. They have a small selection of pastries, but nothing looked inspiring so can't speak to those. The food: We tried two of their omelets, The Jackson and California. The description sounded more thrilling than the actual experience. They were average. Brioche french toast was thick slices of yumminess. My son liked that they were a bit soft in the middle. He said "undercooked", but that was not the cause. Much better than just using two slices of sandwich bread which some places do. Bit pricey to not come with anything else. The Fried Chicken Burger was really good. It had enough sauce and toppings to my satisfaction. I hate a dry sandwich or burger. Decent crisp to the fries. Son enjoyed the smash burger with fries. The only con are the prices for most dishes. Everyone in our party did not like this place as much as our go-to spot so, 3 stars. Expect to pay $18-20 for some eggs and potatoes. Pricing and tipping has gotten out of control. They do have someone walking around to bring your food to the table, but it's self-serve for water, utensils, condiments, etc. Asking for a tip when I'm at the counter to order and have not received any service outside of that is forever odd. We leave cash tip at tables. P.S. The coffee is good. Parking: private lot in a strip mall. Never had trouble finding a spot. We went to Fratelli Cafe today for breakfast/brunch and I had forgotten that it used to be Cafe Buna which we loved! We were greeted warmly and looked at the menu before ordering at the counter. The restaurant looks very similar to the way Cafe Buna looked but has a much bigger menu, including a lunch menu on the back. My friend had an egg white scramble with potatoes and toast and I had the Fried Chicken and Waffle. We both had lattes and we ordered a chocolate croissant. My friend said the scramble was just okay. The waffle was very good but the syrup was way to sweet and runny and kind of ruined the waffle. The fried chicken was a relatively small portion but was pretty good. It was basically two fried small thin sliced chicken breasts. I did need to add a little salt to the chicken to give it more flavor, but overall the chicken with the waffles worked. The lattes were strong and very pretty. The croissant was the best part of the meal and I'd come back for that any time! read more

The portion was pretty good, surprisingly the steak meat was tender and not chewy at all. All ingredients felt high quality. Good price to value ratio. I would come back to try something else. Service was on point, the food was ready very quick. The only down side to me was seatings that were criminally close to each other like few inches apart. It was rather uncomfortable. Came to have breakfast with some friends. At nine am on a Sunday there was plenty of open parking. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and helped to an appropriate table for our party even though it's order at the counter. I liked getting to look over the menu at the table then ordering when ready. I got the sweet and savory (waffles w eggs, sausage). I also got the spiced mocha. The food came out quickly and accurately. The food was good, although I didn't really taste the pearl sugar in the Belgian waffle... It just tasted like a regular waffle instead. Still pretty good though. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was good. The coffee was beautiful and also tasty, although it was more coffee than mocha. Overall food and service were really good and the place was clean and well laid out. They did multiple times try to clear our dishes even though we weren't ready yet. I felt rushed to get out. How did I never know this place existed?! What a find The decor inside is so cute, and it's tucked away in a newer plaza with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I did a to go order after work and got the avocado toast with scrambled eggs for $14. The bread could've been a little more firm, but the flavor from the onions and the freshness of all the ingredients definitely made up for it. Service was great! I came here for brunch with a friend, and we were sat outside. Thankfully they have large umbrellas out there shading you from the sun. The set up is that you go up to their counter to order your food, they'll give you a number to put on your table so they can find you to bring out your food to you when it's ready. I ordered a hot chai tea, the choco croissant French toast, and a side of turkey sausage. The chai was good, and so was the French toast, which had banana slices and Nutella drizzle on top along with a side of syrup. I'd never had croissant French toast before, but it still tasted like classic French toast. It was good, just a bit pricey in my opinion for a meal of French toast, a side, and a drink. read more

I have been to the one on Melrose, but this is my first time at the newly opened MDR location. It's a casual breakfast restaurant, I would classify as no-frills and fast service. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you, it is not a sit down with full service sort of place. Parking is very easy because there is a large free parking lot right out front. Service is very fast so it is a good option if you are in a rush. The menu is not very large, but does have some solid options on it. This is not this sort of place that will blow you away, but it definitely gets the job done. I would say it classifies more as good, not great, but I still enjoy it and plan to be back more times in the future because I live very close to this location. I started off with a vanilla and caramel latte, and I honestly really liked it. It was my favorite part of the meal and I would highly recommend ordering it. The flavors were well balanced, and it was pleasantly strong. For my meal I chose The Biscuit Benny and thought it was fairly good. The eggs were a bit bland and I wish the biscuit on the bottom would have been fluffier but overall it was still enjoyable. Wasn't my favorite version I've had but definitely not the worst. Number #1 I loved the music playlist. We cleared off our plates. Yummy! The Beegees omlette , and the Californian omlette delicious! The sweet potatoe fries delicious! Good size portions. Coffee was nice, spicy mocha. Parking situation is good and free. The atmosphere was very nice and decorative taste was enjoyable. Clean and plates cleared out when done. The bald gentleman and all the staff were all extremely attentive and friendly. Smiled ! I have worked restaurant and they were fast in service even though there was a large group of 20 or more and the other tables were all taken. Impressive. You order at counter then sit with number, that probably expedites things. My only small suggestion is to get new bench seating covers or use some strong cleanser to remove some of the old stains on seating . But overall I'd go again . Had takeout brunch from this place for the first time recently on a Sunday morning. It's a cozy little restaurant and fills up quickly on the weekends. Their online ordering system works well. We had a Jacksons Omelette, the Biscuit Benny, a Sugar and Cinnamon Crepe and a variety of pastries, including the big cinnamon roll and a couple of the small cinnamon rolls. The big cinnamon roll was more like a Kouign Amann and it was better than the smaller ones. All the food was well prepared and tasty. The people working there were courteous and friendly to deal with and the food was ready to go at the promised time. I'm sure we will eat here again. read more

Stopped by this spot after finding them on Yelp and wanting to try a new spot over our usual brunch go to's and unfortunately left pretty disappointed. First the good: The rootie tootie juice was great. You could taste that its freshly squeezed and it was well balanced and overall a delight. Secondly: the speed of service was impressive. We got our meal within 7 minutes of ordering. It was towards the end of the day but it's always nice when food is expeditiously served especially when you're hungry. Unfortunately those were the only really good things that came out of our visit. We both ordered iced lavender honey lattes and despite the young woman at the cash boasting the syrups were home made, the drinks were horrible. I literally could not even take more than a sip from mine. Upon leaving I saw that their machine is a lavazza. If those are the beans they're also using - no wonder the drinks were so bad. No speciality coffee shop uses lavazza beans behind bar. They're one of the darkest roasts on the market and exported, meaning they've sat on shelves for months. On top of that the food was just really lackluster. My partners Turkey sausage side was burnt and my huevos rancheros order was on top of the hardest tortilla I've ever had and was so impossible to cut - I had to request a steak knife! Furthermore both of our plates came with DEEP FRIED potatoes. Like no house made breakfast potatoes - just deep fried basket potatoes. I would understand this from a fast food perspective but any good brunch sit down restaurant should be able to spend a few minutes cooking potatoes on a grill. On top of all this we weren't checked in on once. Said steak knife was requested from a busboy cleaning a neighboring table because no server came to see how we were doing. Ultimately, the prices don't reflect the quality and lack of service in our opinion so we sadly won't be retuning. We ended up going over to Paisitas for a real coffee and regretted not knowing they also had a brunch menu because our meal felt like a complete waste of menu. read more
