Cream Top Vietnamese coffee Saigon Latte
    Jessica G.

Used to be Le Frenchie and I remembered having brunch once there. Some of the brunch menu might still look similar but the drinks were certainly changed now that they featured Vietnamese coffee as their signature. The attendants were so welcoming even the first time we stepped into the door. The indoor section venue was bit too warm but the outdoor seats upfront could always be an alternative. We stopped by for coffee, getting their Saigon coffee and Cream Top Vietnamese Coffee. The Saigon one served great Vietnamese coffee but tad milky for our preference so next time we'd certainly go for just the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk given Saigon one did add extra milk. The Cream Top got me sold as the airy salty cream couldn't be a better pair to the sweet and bold Vietnamese coffee. Most importantly, size for prize was a win here!

Mr. Rivers just opened on February 7th, and they took over what was previously the French place. Great news, they upgraded their coffee program, and now carry Amigo coffee roasters. They kept the same pastries & some of the same breakfast menu items for Wednesday through Sunday from 8am-3pm. They have plenty of parking, both free parking in the lot directly above the building with the ramp access on Colonial Avenue. If that is full, there is also plenty of metered street barking right out front. Since it was still Valentine's Day weekend, I went with their romantic oat milk rose latte and it was delicious. I did less sweet, and I enjoyed the rose syrup as well as the dried rose petals on top. They make the rose syrup themselves but they'll probably keep it for February or longer if it stays popular. They are dog-friendly, with plenty of outdoor seating options and a fresh water bowl. The staff was very helpful with deciding what would be the best thing to order, and I will definitely be back to try their breakfast menu soon.

    Cloud matcha

Stopped by on a whim and was pleasantly surprised, such a cute, cozy spot that's easy to miss from the outside. Service was decent; not the most informative, but I appreciated the patience while I decided. The only downside was the lack of sugar free syrup options. I ordered the cloud matcha and enjoyed it overall, solid 7/10.

I went to the grand opening of this lovely Vietnamese cafe! I'm happy that there are a lot more Vietnamese cafes expanding in LA because they are so underrated. Service was still fast even though there was a long line. Great quality Vietnamese coffee, and a good selection of pastries to pair with your drink :)

    Cà phê muối

I walked into Mr. Rivers' Coffee mid-morning on a Thursday, when it wasn't busy, and the atmosphere in the shop was light and airy, streaked with natural light shining through the windows. Small but mighty, there's just the right amount of seating for the small space, featuring both indoor and outdoor tables. I asked the friendly barista for help choosing between the prosciutto / gruyere croissant and the tomato / fennel danish, and was grateful for the recommendation of the prosciutto / gruyere croissant. It was flaky and flavorful and hearty enough to be fulfilling. The cà phê muối is a delicious salted coffee that has the right blend of bitter and a hint of sweet. Great amount of caffeine that kept me alert throughout the morning.

Nothing to revert about. But wow, that mimosa was filled to the rim! I got the speciality weekend brunch spritz. I don't remember what it was call but it was strong and refreshing. Yes. The spritz was strong or my tolerance has gone way down. First course: I was pleasantly surprised by how big the Avacado toast was. It had a jam at the bottom that brought the whole dish together. Like my HH review, some micro greens would have taken my heard back. I just love microgreens! Deviled eggs and croquetts I've tried before. They were both pretty good. Croquetts can't do wrong. Mains: I got the crab Benedict and it was awesome! I filled up on my avocado toast so I took half of it home. There was plenty of crab and the poached egg was running and bright orange. That's some healthy eggs! Fresh toast looked amazing as well, same with the burger. I know the burger was also popular at happy hour for the price but I was told it was very good. I'll have to go next time just for that. Parking: Just park by the paid lot by trader Joe's or off Cardiff. Easier than trying to find parking on that street. The paid lot is $1 free and $1 additional hours. The patio was super charming with all the natural lights and shaded by the trees. The service was decent as well. Will took good care of us.

We ordered: - sweet squash pancakes (4/5): felt healthy and wasn't too heavy which I appreciated. Not sure if I'd get again but was pretty good/unique - bacon breakfast burrito (5/5): simple, fluffy eggs, charred tortilla and that Bluey's red sauce they had on that table gave it a nice tangy spice. Their red salsa was ok too and not too spicy. I liked how they don't over stuff it and they didn't overcook their eggs. I'm usually not one to comment on speed of service, but for the food we got after waiting for a while didn't seem worth it. Little Gordo sandwich - which was a really small, sad sandwich that didn't look special. Super basic, sad presentation. The cheese wasn't melted or anything either. Probably wouldn't recommend unless you're not hungry and want something basic! Chilaquiles - the presentation was good and it overall tasted pretty good! But I didn't get very full. If you're hungry, get something else! I was seeing other people's food and I should've gotten the Bluey's breakfast plate since it looked really good. Service - the 2 couples sitting next to either side of us didn't get their cup of coffee and tea for 15min and the other couple got their latte spilled on but the servers didn't do anything about it. Maybe they were short staffed that day? I'm not sure, but things didn't seem to be running quickly. Ambiance - the cafe itself is really cute! Great interior, decent amount of seating, and good lighting.

We went for their Breakfast Burrito with avocado add-ons and loved how perfectly the eggs were cooked and well-complemented by the melted cheese. Instead of regular hash-brown, they used more rosti-alike one which gave extra twist of crispy texture within the burrito. The sausages were my fave being flavorful and served in big satisfying chunks! If you're into pastries like me, definitely no skip on their Pain Suisse. I stopped by for a late breakfast/brunch with my partner and two friends. It was my first visit. We found parking easily, but it could be due to the holiday. The place itself is clean, open and has minimalist decor that lends to a welcoming vibe featuring some really cool photography on the walls. The menu is definitely pared down, but there is variety enough for various moods and tastes. I had the avocado toast minus goat cheese and a raspberry (I believe) hibiscus iced tea. The pricing is fair for an individual-owned restaurant. I didn't experience any bad service and even when the gent calling out names had to repeat mine because I wasn't sure I'd heard right, he wasn't annoyed at all. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and cool. I am not being dramatic when I say this may be the best avocado toast I've ever had. The portion was a single slice of toast, but it was loaded high with fresh, delicately arranged ingredients. It wasn't too salty, which a lot of places make the mistake of making avo toast. It along with the delicious tea was literally the best first meal of the year I could imagine. The bathroom was clean and also featured more of that same rad photography inside on the walls. All in all, a truly wonderful experience! Walking back to the car past a dude playing conga drums and others just outside enjoying the day added to a wonderfully community-based feeling. I recommend! And I will likely be pin ring people in the direction of this place if they're in LA proper for the avocado toast alone!
