I came here for a quick meal when I was in the area--love that they have a drive thru! I was hoping for a small meal, so I ordered the "lil chicken sandwich," which is the smaller size option of the "OG chicken sandwich." I had been to their truck in Austin once, and wasn't a big fan, so I had lower expectations, but the sandwich was fantastic. It is topped with coleslaw, pickles, and Mayo. I couldn't help eating the whole thing despite "not being that hungry." For a small sandwich, I'd say it's about as filling as any regular sized sandwich from a fast-food place. The sandwich was about $6, which is not bad for a fast yet really well-made sandwich with crispy chicken. I ordered it hot and it had a decent kick. Their coleslaw on it was top notch and paired well with the chicken--I keep reminiscing about how much I enjoyed it. The fries are super skinny, so I wasn't in love with them, but that's just my preference. I see they also offer happy hour food options M-F 4-6 pm, which is pretty great. They have a drinks HH menu too, with a variety of margarita (and margarita combo) drinks. I'm so glad I gave them another shot by checking out their Houston location. Sooo I've actually been to this restaurant 4 times so far in the past week lol. I'm not a fan of chicken but I have to say it is pretty delicious. Not pictured the dirty fries and bbq backed beans which were both different but not bad. Sadly I don't like spicy food but I've tried the Hot, Mo'Hot, and Dang Hot. To me the Mo'hot season was more hot then the Dang hot season, and surprisingly the Dang hot season is more flavorful than the Hot season. With all that said there are a few things I didn't like... the collard greens were not good to me at all and I love collards. I took two bites let my daughter taste it and we trashed it. I tried the fries plain and felt they were over fried like fried to hard. Also didn't like the fact that you don't get your food at the drive-thru window instead they have you go to a numbered parking spot. Quick service and friendly staff. I went through the drive through and it was very efficient. The staff person taking my order was very patient while I tried to figure out the menu and even explained parts of the menu. Now, the highlight of my meal was the margarita. This was a pretty good chicken shop. I tried the middle spice on the large sandwich and enjoyed it. The breast size on this sandwich is huge, which is nice after going to so many chicken places that have only tiny breasts on their sandwiches. We love this place and the food so much. My wife and I are big spicy chicken fans, and while we do love Gus's, we don't love how hard it is to park, and the inside atmosphere. Tumble has a great vibe both no matter the occasion, and we have been there for a few birthday parties already and have yet to be disappointed by either the food or the service. For those who love the heat, I found that Mo Hot was just right, and there are still a few more levels for those who need it. This location has been a bit of a revolving door of different restaurants over the years, so we were skeptical at first. Our first trip was pretty quick and we were looking for a late lunch/early dinner so we did the $5 happy hour picks. Such a great choice. We ordered three items between the two of us and still took home leftovers (they heat up great in the air fryer). We have gone back several times since and of course brought friends along. The deviled eggs are a great sharable (or just for you!). The salad is amazing if you're looking for something fresh. It's a little pricey but the portions are large and were were stuffed. I thought the sides were good, we tried the cole slaw and the collard greens, and the Szechuan fries. The fries were flavorful but it wasn't a Szechuan style spice, it was more of a horseradish type. The greens were on the vinegary side not sure if that's normal or not. The chicken was ok but could be a bit uneven. Some parts were tender, others were chewy or tough. They're also on the greasy side. I think I preferred Gus's chicken in Austin a little more, but Tumble's sides were more interesting. Did not try the drinks, maybe another time. Well I wanted to like this place but I struggled a little. The chicken is not a wet hot chicken and the slaw was just regular slaw with no real umph. I was going to ask if their heat comes from the sauce or the batter on the chicken but I didn't circle back. The bun was soft and toasted but they just use Dukes mayo which is great but I guess I just was looking for some more flavor from somewhere and I couldn't find it in this sandwich. Now the lackluster chicken didn't really get any stars from me but the dirty fries were pretty darn good. They use a shoestring potatoe that's nice and Krispy and they are covered in beer cheese which was delicious. Oh Tumble 22 Hot Chicken you have stolen my heart and taste buds!!!! My boyfriend & I came in after a recommendation from a friend...and I cannot be more grateful. Parking is a little difficult, as it has a drive thru and limited parking, and finding the front door was a bit challenging, but once you are settled, have no fear, the amazing staff will get you taken care of in no time!!! My boyfriend and I decided to sit outside on the patio by the window that looks in to the bar and restaurant, which I was informed would be a minute to open...in no time we were greeted again and informed the window would be open. As soon as the window opened, we were warmly greeted and immediately offered an appetizer. We ordered the deviled eggs with 'mo hot seasoning. I ordered the 2nd appetizer recommendation of Dirty Fries (fries, with pulled hot chicken, and queso) as my entree and my BF ordered the Tupelo Hot Honey OG Sandwich with regular coleslaw (it comes with Mango slaw, which I am deathly allergic to) & Chad, without missing a beat assured no mango. Besides the attentive service...when we arrived I had spotted their barrel table that has a gas fire pit I was keeping an eye on...once the patrons left, Chad assured he would get the table cleaned off and have us moved to the highly anticipated table. Everything was fantastic and the Tupelo sandwich was very large and the chicken was very moist and had a mash-up of great flavors. The coleslaw balances the spice, the bun balances out the crunchiness of the chicken, and the pickles bring the whole sandwich together. The deviled eggs were made better by the 'mo hot seasoning which I ordered for my entree. The Dirty fries were delicious, the chicken was slightly dry, but the queso more than made up for it. Man, there is just so much to like about this place, but they are killing it. 1st, let me say that my wife and I were thrilled when Tumble 22 1st opened, finding ourselves enjoying the great Fried Chicken and awesome sides like the Mac & Cheese, and the great deserts, so we have been back many times. I have to admit, we were surprised when they shut down 'briefly' to remodel the place a little bit ago, but found ourselves enjoying the many improvements they made during that remodel. When they reopened, we were even lucky enough to dine there during the relaunch weekend and everything was on point, food, drinks, deserts. Needless to say, it has continued to be one of go-to, regular places. With regret, I have to say Tumble 22 is probably going to be dropped from our favorites places list. While the chicken is still great, other issues are really getting in the way of us enjoying eating there. After several separate dining experiences, here's the list of big ones for us: 1) It's a 'please wait to be seated' place, but frequently you enter the place and stand there next to the empty hostess stand, and wait, and wait.... You can easily see a full kitchen of workers from the hostess stand, but 'greeting and seating' guests doesn't seem to be much of a priority, or so it would seem. (Sorry, its a pet peeve of mine.) 2) Incorrect orders the last couple of times we had visited. While they always get the missed item(s) out to us after a while, it is getting old. 3) Inconsistent food quality on the sides. I mentioned the great Mac & Cheese earlier, unfortunately that simple, yet awesome side seems to be suffering from some form of an identity crisis, being we never know what we are going to get. Runny Mac & Cheese, Cold Coagulated Mac & Cheese, and/or bland Mac & Cheese being they completely missing putting jalapeño's into it. All-in-all, Tumble 22 still has great chicken and the staff has always been pleasant to talk to when engaged. Always drive by this place and decided to finally give it a shot. Got two "Lil OG Sandwich" one for me and for my girlfriend. Checked the bag and everything was there (except napkins) but whatever we were going to eat it at home anyways. Once we get home and start eating my girlfriends chicken was raw and chewy in the center, the sides were fine but not the middle. She pretty much ate 1/2 of the chicken sandwich, if that since most of it was raw. I've been trying to call since we found out the chicken was raw and left a voice mail but no answer or call back. The chicken sandwich that was cooked right had a good taste, fries, and mac as well. However, that doesn't matter if chicken is under cooked. They should use a thermometer when cooking. My boyfriend and I drive by everyday and we're so excited to see this restaurant open. We ordered 2 Original O.G. Chicken Sandwiches (dang hot), 9 tender bites (cluckin hot), dirty fries, and dirty Mac n cheese. Service was quick and meals are made to order and brought out to assigned spots. From the first look I new it was going to be good because the chicken sandwich was thick, the bites were dark red (from the spices), the fries and shoe string, and the Mac has spiral noodles. The food is indulgent but worth every morsel. I did not eat all day because of the anticipation of tasting the hot chicken. Only thing we would add is that we'd ask for more pickles but I know that's a personal preference. Our complaint was handled well - we were informed changes had been made as a result of our feedback. The food here is amazing, it has always been amazing. When we get into the routine of visiting on the weekends I literally dream of the meal to come for days in advance. The patio is so wonderful on a mild Texas day. This honestly is why we were so upset in the first place following our bad experience, because this genuinely is a really great place! Our waiter this time, Jayden, was amazing! I've tried the jumbo tenders, Cobb salad, the OG chicken sandwich and the smaller chicken sandwich. I order the sandwiches without heat and cold slaw. The OG sandwich comes with Mayo, pickles and a buttered bun. It's so delicious and filling. Each time I've had the tenders, they were salty. I've also tried the sides and pies. The potato salad and greens are the best I've tried so far. The macaroni and cheese would be delicious to someone who likes heat. I do not and it was too spicy.
